You've probably seen this all over the damn place but CoroCoro, as usual, has sprung a leak, and we've got some interesting new bits of information about Black and White.
Have the starters evolutions been revealed? Have they finally said anything more about Reshiram and Zekrom? No, nothing THAT interesting - although we now officially know that the Professor is female.
Say hello to Professor Araragi, whose hair is a tumor and whose name means 'Japanese Yew'. In other words, if anyone says the professor has Isshus, you reply with "NO YEW!"
So what's the lovable little bastard at her feet (and possibly her test subject for explaining 'the wonderful world of PokeMon)?
Meet Chiirami (チラーミィ - Possibly Chillami, from 'Chinchilla' and 'Mi' meaning 'Beautiful') the Chinchilla Pokemon. It's a Normal type, 0.4m tall and 5.8kg in weight, with the abilities Cute Charm or Technician. It also has a new move, 'Sweep Slap', which apparently hits the enemy several times.
Want more? I knew you would.
Meet Gear (ギアル), the most creative name since Generation 1, where Magnemite was Coil, Drowzee was Sleep, Charmeleon was Lizard, and fantards whined about how OMG ORIGINAL it all was. Appropriately, it's the Gear Pokemon. It is a pure Steel-type, 0.3m tall, weighs 21.0kg, and comes in Plus and Minus flavors. So essentially, Plusle/Minun had a frontal collision with a Magnemite and that's why it looks so in pain. Its special attack is Gear Saucer - which seems to be another 'multiple' attack. Yawn.
Mun'na (ムンナ), the Dream Eater PokeMon, is clearly evidence that someone in Game Freak
played The World Ends With You. A Psychic-type, 0.6m tall and 23.3kg in weight, and in possession of the abilities Forewarn or Synchronize - this little critter comes with an attack called Telekinesis, which 'makes the opponent float in the air'. An enemy-affecting Magnet-Rise clone? Possibly. We'll see.
"Aha! A pigeon! Surely there is no more deadly a wild creature within residential zoning limits!, Chernobyl! Sic!The typical early bird - Mamepato (マメパト), the Baby Pigeon PokeMon (what are we betting they'll rename it 'Tiny Bird' or 'Tinypigeon' or 'Tinydove' in the English version?) - and its name appears to derive from
Mame ('Miniature/Tiny') and
Hato ('Dove'). It's a Normal/Flying type, 0.3m tall and weighs 2.1kg, and comes equipped with either the Super Luck ability, or an ability called 'Pigeon Heart' which seems to have something with blocking the lowering of defense - and maybe other stats. We don't know yet.
What ARE birds? We just don't know. And speaking of not knowing...
Hihidaruma (ヒヒダルマ), the Flaming PokeMon, is a pure fire-type, 1.3m tall, weighs 92.9kg. It has an ability called 'Encourage', and we know eff-all about what it actually does.
If you wonder what it's based on, it's based on a Daruma doll, a toy modeled after Bodhidharma (hence the name,
Hi, fire in Japanese, plus Bod
hidaruma), founder of the Zen sect of Buddhism. According to Wiki, 'Daruma has a design that is rich in symbolism and is regarded more as a talisman of good luck to the Japanese. Daruma dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck, making them a popular gift of encouragement.'. Also, supposedly, at the end of the year, all the Daruma are brought back to the temple they were purchased from for a traditional burning ceremony.
Meguroko (メグロコ), the Desert Crocodile PokeMon, is another fine example of a creature totally not belonging in a desert being Desertified because someone in Gamefreak was in denial (I am looking at you, Hippopotas). It's a Ground/Dark type, 0.7m tall and weighs 15.2kg, and comes equipped with either Intimidate or a new ability named "Earthquake Spiral" - which raises its Attack stat when it Knocks Out a Pokemon. It's probably my favorite of this new bunch, oddly enough.
Lastly we have Shimama (シママ), which looks far too fanmade than could be possibly good for it. Probably Ixion's retared cousin. Classified the Charged Pokemon, 0.8m tall and 29.8kg - it is yet another pure Electric-type (why do they keep coming up with Electrics who look like they should be Dark type?) and has either the Lightningrod or Motor Drive abilities. It has a new attack called "Wild Bolt" which does a lot of damage but also hurts the user. Joy. Another Double-Edge clone. >>;
Also in the CoroCoro Article are bits of info about a new in-game connection device featuring new Wireless Features with the name
C-Gear, and supposedly there is a new wireless feature called 'Random Match', accessible from the Global Terminal inside Pokemon Centers - which will allow players to randomly battle other players around the country over Wi-Fi. Also, supposedly you can upload your save file into The Internet. Why? Your guess is as good as ours.
