"There is no need to use any move but another typed Hidden Power, for its power is secret, hidden, locked away." Perfect.
Sadly, I gave up on my Unown, since HP Poison ain't so hot. If I had found one with HP Ice or Electric, I'd still be playing with my alphabet soup.

I found another member for my party, and I think it'll be the first time I've ever actually trained one of these.... Should be interesting.

I swapped out cyndaquil for magby. Onix is also now on the team. Yeah giant useless rock snake. Having it follow me around is pretty fun though.
I've been having a pretty easy time, including gym leaders. I just beat Bugsy and I remember having a helluva time back in Crystal due to that scyther, and then suddenly now scyther is the team lead, and onix rock 2HKO rock throws it. And then hoothoot pecked the cacoons to death. I was expecting something scarier. I even had a grand plan for what I thought was going to be a lScizor: pull out slowpoke, take a hit, yawn, take a second hit and probably die, pull out magby, sunny day the now sleeping enemy, then burn it to death.
But that scarier thing turned out to be a level 18 crocodile thingy that comes between totodile and feralgatr thanks to my rival, ADOUCHE. 2HKO's all around for my level 10-13 team, except for Hoothoot. Somehow, Hoothoot managed to keep that asshole in near perma-sleep while pecking it to death. Except for when i tried to sleep then switch to bellsprout. Alligator dude woke up and killed it, then went back to sleep after I sacrificed slowpoke for a yawn, pulled out onix, and threw rocks until it died.
Man that battle was silly and came out of no where.

I'm about 2/3rds through Johto. I just beat Chuck after an unfortunate faux paws (spelling intentional.)
I send out my typical lead for 1 on 1, Taunt Dig Flinchhax Meowth. It's a bit underleveled, but I'm like, hey, I'll keep him from using Bulk Up/Hypnosis, and Dynamic Punch isn't accurate enough to scare me. So I do my standard Taunt lead... And he Focus Punches me into next week. After STAB, 225 base power hitting Super Effective on a Meowth 10 levels down... SPLAT.
It went something like this: "Yo momma!" "DON'T TALK ABOUT MY MOMMA!"
Also, yeah, the Ilex rival battle is the worst since he comes out of f*cking nowhere. And it's after you BATTLE Bugsy, not win, so I had him show up when I was just heading into Ilex to power level after losing against that dang Scyther. (U-Turn is murder against a team of a Grass Type, a Bug Type, and a Psychic.)
I managed to beat him, but only because I exploited his AI and kept switching Bellsprout into Poison Powder against that dang Bayleef, and stalled him out.

I think some of them look cool. Persian's is a bit of a waste though, since there's hardly any change.

i've been getting a lot of cool pokemon lately and i don't know who i want on my team anymore.
Currently I've got Scyther, Elekid, Slowpoke, Nidorino, Bellsprout, and Onix. Recently switched out Magby for Elekid, and I'm still unsure if that's permanent. I figure the electric attacks will be more useful, and Elekid can always learn fire punch or something.
Slowpoke stays obviously. Bulky water types with good special attack STAB coverage in a hilarious package is awesome.
Scyther stays. I was breeding for Technician, and finally got it after about 3 tries. Paying attention to stat distribution is hard, so I try not to bother.
Nidorino stays. Another multi-attempt breeding for Poison Point, and he just happens to have a good special attack and speed compared to the others.
Bellsprout hasn't been pulling his weight recently, except for being my utility-cut. Onix has been a badass wall. Elekid hasn't been used much yet. Magby was kind of doing ok before being switched out. I feel like my team is going too far into the OU territory.
I know I want a Dunsparce in the future, but I'm not getting any calls about a swarm.
So yeah.

I'm currently playing through Platinum before saturday, when I'll be buying Heart Gold. I just beat Byron, so I'm off to go beat up some Galactic goons.
Current team is: Infernape, rockin' a physical moveset Bastiodon, a special-attacker-staller-annoyance Snorlax, a meatshield (special wall) Aerodactyl, physical sweeper Dragonair, modest, special attacker Espeon, special attacker meets calm mind special wall
Apart from a lack of grass moves, my team's pretty solid for an in-game team. Hoping I can Calm Mind Cynthia into oblivion, like I did last time I played it.

I just learned that Taunt murders Dittos. Taunt screws up so many strategies, it's awesome.

Ch00bs, you can pick up Dunsparce without a swarm. You just go into the first cave in the game, the one before Violet I believe, and just run around. I found like 5 in about as many minutes.

Right now my team consists of Typhlosion, Furret, Hypno, Umbreon, Seel and Machop. Machop is a recent addition, so I don't know if he'll stick around. Seel's turning out to be a lot better than I thought. Now I'm on my way to the Ice Path.

Ledian (Screener), Meowth (Matador), Electrode (Special Sweeper), Krabby (Physical Sweeper in Training), and Weepinbell (Status'n'Sweep/Wall Breaker) are my party, and there's a retarded crocodile slaving HMs on me.
I MAY get a Delibird, but Present... I don't trust it. I might just wait til the National Dex to pick up something. (Can't go wrong with Wormadam, I've always said.) Or maybe I'll go with something totally out of left field. Mawile or a fighting type or a Fire type or something.
ALSO, the card flip game is frustrating.

I feel like every big battle is the same: ch00b throws waves of pokeman at the enemy and then eventually they die.
I am a terrible trainer.

I started a new game on LeafGreen because this thread made me want to play pokémon again. I spent an hour trying to get my charmander to have a modest nature. I don't think I'll bother with the rest of the non-legendary pokes.

Blood's a good bit ahead of me, but that's to be expected. I'm infamous for doing sidequests before actually finishing the game. Heck, when I first beat Sapph, I had logged over a hundred hours and had beat every contest by enough to get into the museum.
This time, I've aced two of the Pokathlons (friggin' soccer keeps holding me down. My very Striker oriented team keeps getting ran over, and I haven't caught any decent lightning-bruisers to cover my goal.)
Speaking of which, I love Pokathlons. Block Break, Circle Push, Hurdles (which I am unstoppable at, BTW), Disk Catch, etc., etc. Gotta love integrated minigames with bonuses, and the participation points are SO nice. It gets rid of the whole "Well, that was a TOTAL waste of time" that made contests sooo cutthroat. This time, practice rounds don't feel like such a retarded thing to do.
It's like they went "What made Stadium 2 Lee's favorite game of all time? Hey, let's toss that into the remake of Silver just to see how ecstatic it makes him."

Which reminds me, I forgot to post my typical strategy on there. Goes something like "Is Ledian Super Effective? No? Screen'n'Switch. Kingler, screw around with them for a while. Not getting the job done, eh? Meowth, do something. No good? Weepinbell? Still nothing? Oh, whatever. Electrode. Hyper Beam. Game, set, match."
That's pretty much any match for me.
