If you were trying to troll, you shoulda been like "Oh, there's no Tanner. PROBABLY BECAUSE HE VANISHED LIKE HE DOES IN EVERY RP HE'S BEEN IN TO DATE."

I would like to see what you think Aquara looks like!

The following comics are the result of (A) boredom (B) devastating Photoshop inexperience (C) not actually having the slightest idea what Lee looks like these days, with only fuzzy memories of that one photo that popped up years ago (D) listening to "Point and Counterpoint" for two hours straight. This one takes place directly after Ishkabibble. Yeah, Ish hasn't even started yet and the chronological mucking about is already underway! I truly am the Quentin Tarantino of Archipelago Exodus.

Dammit, Lee, I thought you had legitimately posted commented on the comics for a second.

Oh, yeah. Those.
Pretty dang nifty overall. The second one has to be my favorite by far, since it diverges from typical layout and has a pretty solid punchline for anybody who keeps abreast of the boards. The third one is pretty awesome, too. I like the subtle gestures and such.
The first didn't impress me so much, but probably just because it's an overdone kind of strip. I'm sure I've seen OotS, Shortpacked, VGCats, B^U, and Penny Arcade all do similar punchlines. Though it does occur to me that I serve as the straight man in like every Exy webcomic. Huh.

So, what kind of literary magic would I need to work in order to get a sketch of Natalie/Emily hanging out?

Post by Beelzebibble on Oct 28, 2009 12:12:25 GMT -5
Well, you/Clicker would need to get me a nice heaping helping of visual reference, like I said. I don't have a very clear image of Emily at all, and Natalie only somewhat more so.
Once that's done, I'll be happy to see what I can do. And we'll put it all on the Ish tab.

I'd like to mention the Natalie/Emily idea again, with a special request (Basically, just, before the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Y'know, so Clicker gets to see the drawing.)
I'll hit you with more comprehensive description tonight, after Train time.

Okay, totally. Be sure to provide reference for both, unless Clicker miraculously chimes in before then.

For Natalie: Kevin's depiction (pretty spot on, except for her expression, and that her sword has segments that interlock kinda like a bicycle chain, not a string of beads. Oh, and she wears a belt like this, but with a more rounded buckle and a lighter shade.) img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/LeeTupper/Natinterpretation.jpgMy most recent sprite: The key details: Angry in some way other than "cold rage", be it restrained, twitching frustration or outright charging at the viewer. Green (lighter than her light brown hair, which really is all that matters) highlights. Toned musclature. T-shirt is just short enough to bare her abs, which as I said, are nicely toned but not really defined. Footwear is, depending on topic, either light hiking boots, or more often, some kind of skating shoes. Emily: No depictions I can think of off the top of my head. Key Details: Happy, with a touch of empathy. May be hugging somebody, carrying a cake, pulling her throwing spikes (something like these: www.throwzini.com/spike1.jpg ) from a pocket, or something else in there. She's got a good range of "iconic" poses, I guess. Hair is dark brown, swept back in a ponytail (to about the middle of her back, in length) with no bangs. Her figure is fairly average, maybe ever-so-slightly more curvy. Her typical outfit is brightly coloured track pants (the stripe down the side being an important detail), and a t-shirt of a different color, though equally garishly bright. Her typical footwear is flip-flops, though barefoot is also totally in character for her. If you need some kind of images to help spark ideas? Azuma from Yakitate Japan has about the right expressions for Emily, really. They're the same personalities, essentially. img98.animecharactersdatabase.com:81/images/yakitate/Kazuma_Azuma.jpgThere was this image, that looked promising, but the image itself is now gone. t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:PghXnVu7xnT1WM:http://www.98ycr.com/foodshow/female%2520chef.jpgWill Trade: Ending Triannual/Autoing or getting Kevin to Post to Continue Whispers/Continuing C'est Noire/More Ishkabibble posts, pick one for each drawing. May also return some sprites, but not certain yet. (Namely, Pokemon-scale sprite of Terrian, maybe a redo of Laksha's sprite or something) From your own cast, if you ever have the time, I think I'd speak for all of us in saying that we want sketches of Tanner and the Giarretteria brothers. Especially the latter. It'd help clear up the distinctions, which are hard to commit to memory without a visual aid.

Oh, that's really helpful. I think I can do Emily/Natalie now. And I've been thinking about a G-Bros (thanks, Choobs) sketch, so maybe I'll try that too. Tanner I still need to ponder a lot more.

Emily/Natalie and the Giarrettieras are done. I can't scan them until I get back to school next week, but I'll make up for it with some more besides them, probably.

TRIPLE POST!
I'm on a total artsy buzz, having completed all but one of the drawings I've been hoping to tackle so far, so I want to take some requests if anyone's interested. I still have a couple more days to burn before heading back to college (where I'll finally have access to a scanner again), so I could almost certainly manage another couple of drawings before then.
Please do give a decent amount of image reference, though.

I've been tempted to request Helen/Nopcsa, but that's just being greedy, isn't it?

Those are both good ideas although at the moment I would rather draw Helen because I've been drawing too many guys in suits as it is.

You can draw any of my characters if you feel the desire to do so. The exception is still Durant though.

Helen already has quite a bit of reference material going on. Granted, they're old, but Helen is one of my characters not to change design since debut. Show Outfit: img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/LeeTupper/Summoner%20Alliance/NewBitmapImage.bmpBattle Armor, as seen in Chords img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/LeeTupper/HelenMercuryArmored.jpgI'll give a better description later, since right now, I think Alyssa would be a good subject. So, once you finish Alyssa, if you still want to draw somebody, let me know. I'll give ya the details. Addendum: To be fair, Nopcsa has something along the lines of this: and a decent pair of slacks. Oh, and since Emet, he wears a white cloak with a hood, the left side pulled over most of his face. Curious, no? Further Addendum: img.photobucket.com/albums/v202/LeeTupper/AnnaHariEmilySchwartzwald.bmpThis was the original design for Emily. Eight years ago.

I'd be interested in your take on Prime and Lucas, if you're up to it Pohatu. I'd request Diamond to, but, you don't really know her. Heh.
Which reminds me, its time to refresh my batch of female characters.

Currently Helen and Prime interest me the most out of the suggestions so far. Moar image reference for them plz (EDIT: I know Prime has a lot of lookalikes in Family Photos but I want Prime the member to narrow it down to two or three he'd particularly like me to work from.)
I might do Alyssa later, but I don't really think I'm ready to take her on yet.
Also, does Emily actually have dark skin? Should I... Should I take this into account? I assumed she was all Wonder bread all the time.

Emily pulled an MJ. When she debuted in ORP, she was as white as white could be. And she went from Deadpan Snarker to Super Cheery. And she went from a close combat fighter to a range-only fighter. And she originally had to put up with a ditzy, brightly dressed colleague penned by Diamond Princess. Now, in ORP... Well, you know.
The thread that has remained the same? Knife using, rather duplicitous young lady who is both an excellent chef and competent warrior.
So yeah, Emily is white.
