Drawing Rie got me so jazzed up I bashed out a couple more pictures in the last couple of days. So I thought, "Hey, man. Why don't you just make an art topic?" And then I thought "Hell yeah bro that is a boss idea." So here we go. First up is the familiar visage of Mr. Terrian Brogue: And here's Rie Nepas, as submitted for the first illustration contest: Laksha and her three core Pokemon are next. The quality on this scan didn't come out so great, but whatever. I really like how Sankh turned out. Finally, what would these artistickerly pursuits be without Rhometer & Higgledy-Piggledy? They gotta be in on this. Those are all for now. But I might be up for taking requests if anyone's interested. You know, get some kind of "drawing <-> post in the rp" barter system going on. Let me know.

Will Trade: Posts in Any Two RPs but Chords for a Dace (with Minnow as Wormadam (Steel)) / a Blaise (Will pay 2 for each, within four days of the art turning up)
I must admit, I like the look for Rhometer. It's actually pretty cool, street urchin style, which is something I wasn't quite expecting (I was expecting moreso "70's suit style thing, possibly with perpetually shifting colors and patterns.)
Also, Laksha is hmmm... More dignified and less youthful than I was expecting. Though I suppose that it is fitting, since she's actually highschool aged and such. Much more of an age gap, and I think Fallfish woulda had some issues between her and Dace. Personally, I like Matsya the most out of the 'mons, though Sankh is pretty awesome as well. Ganesh is good, but just not as outright terrific as the other two. Probably just a awkward angle for a Phanpy.

I'll take both of those commissions, I think. If there's any more visual reference you want me to have, post it in Family Photos. I could always use more visual reference for other people's characters.
And, thanks!

The two images in Family Photos are more accurate to Dace than the sprite, which really, now that I look at it, is a bit young for her. Blaise, likewise, Family Photos is currently the best source for an image matching my idea of her (albeit with her hair up in a bun sort of thing, with test tubes instead of chopsticks.) I'll try respriting them both some time soon, see if that helps. Hopefully, Rie will help free my creative beast as well.

I'm picturing Dace plucking a loose screw or something out of Minnow's exterior, which leads to me wanting to know if it's okay to throw in some nails/screws/other bits and pieces amidst the building insulation in Minnow's design.
EDIT: Shit, I may also have to give Dace a headband or something. 'Cuz I'm kind of struggling to make her look obviously female.

Yeah, it's fine to do such things. I envisioned Trash cloak as typically, construction debris, so nails, bits of asphalt shingle, and little bits of wood are fine additions to the Pink Panther wrap.
And Dace is somewhat androgynous, one must remember. She's a tomboy first and foremost, and still is too young to really be showing many feminine traits. (As said once in the trivia thread, I was planning on keeping her gender non-stated through the tournament and Varsuvius out until Fallfish. But that's much harder to do in text.) So, if she's unclear, that's fine. Just as long as she isn't masculine is key.
One other detail: Remember, Dace has very rosy cheeks. That's the only detail I think my images thusfar haven't conveyed.

Okay, cool, got it.
First pencil drafts of Dace/Minnow and Blaise are now finished. Depending on when I ink, I might have them posted tonight. I have to take a break first and stop staring at these pieces of paper for a while so that I'll be more likely to spot glaring physical inadequacies when I take a fresh look at them for the inking.
Glaring physical inadequacies are a constant hazard. And would also make a good name for an indie band.

Dace 'n' Minnow. D'awwww. I couldn't get rosy cheeks to look good, so I gave her some freckles instead. Don't know how you'll feel about them, but I think they helped a lot. What? High heels? Blaisephemy! I hadn't been planning for that, but once I drew the skirt, there was really only one way to finish her off. Admit it, it's better than scrubs. All in all, Blaise was the toughest drawing yet, but I'm quite happy with how she came out.

Yes! Do it!
Guys this is Q, who actually studies illustration. And who is much better at art of all forms than I am and is pretty much all set to take over the art world in another couple of years.

Dace is totally awesome. I was thinking of mentioning "probably, band-aid her knee or something" but it seems that the imagery (and her constant falling) made that one an easy enough connection for you. Freckles are servicable, and I was indeed wondering how the rosy cheeks could be handled with black and white without being too over the top or too subtle. The pose was also a great touch, managing to convey femininity without making her very "girly".
Minnow's really sharp as well. I love the details on the "Lapels" of the cloak. Not sure how well inwards facing nails work in a protective cloak, but hey, Minnow's not very experienced with that sort of cloak, yet. Also really like the somewhat embarassed expression.
Blaise... yeah, Blaise is terrific. Superb expression, excellent job on the hair, and a nicely stylish take on her outfit (to be fair, I do typically envision her wearing heels. Though there may be a secret to that. Something along the lines of "In a combat situation, turn into some kind of PRACTICAL shoes. Since Blaise is like that.
Anywho, you've more than met the price. Name four RPs, and I'll have them all posted in before the weekend is up. (I don't think I can do the "ALL IN 48 HOURS" thing, so 1 a day or so.) Remember, no Chords, but anything else is valid.
(Blood should totally ask for a Durant/Taraek & Oddish. Because.)

Also, welcome to Q, who swooped in while I was dawdling about responding. Good to see you here, and I can't wait to get a look at some of your works.

Thanks a lot, Lee! I'm really glad you liked them. I'm proud of them both. (See what you mean about the inward-facing nails thing. I... didn't really take that into account.)
For my fee, I think Triannual could use you. It ought to be possible to wrap up the fights in another post or two and move it into the endgame. The other three posts I think I'll stock up as "Ishkabibble credit". Meaning on up to three instances over the course of Ishkabibble, if you're holding a scene up, I get to bug you about the scene and you get to make it your top RP priority. Sounds good?

Sounds good. And actually, much like End Game, Triannual is surprisingly close to over. It's got two neccessary posts left, and maybe a reaction shot between them/brief epilogue. And that's it.
Shattered is also one post away. If I can get a single good day with a working connection and no issues, I might be able to finish some stuff.

I think your art is very awesome! I love the style. Keep up the excellent work... I would to see some interpretations of what you think some of the characters look on the boards.

those are really good. I'd be truly happy and purly delighted if you'd do Emily and Nat Lee's character, I'll post in triannual if you do

Ooh, Emily, huh? I'll need a ton of visual reference, though, since I really don't have a clear picture of her at all. Want to find a few illustrations online that resemble her and post them in Family Photos? Along with any textual description you want to toss on top.
I'm not sure whether you're asking for Emily and Natalie together in the same picture or in two different ones. If the former, then I'll totally need Lee to furnish some reference for Nat as well.

Blaise is Lee's most creative creation to date, in the embodiment of a truly awesome chick. Honestly, she's cold, calculating, and completely lacking of any morals, so seems somewhat evil. But then.... She's just so bloody interesting. I would totally shack up with the chick, but she's the type to think of reproduction as something to be researched, not performed. Damn shame that.

Choobs, you'd remember her from Chords. Rie, Helen and Terrian took her on at the magical institute. More recently she's had the starring role in Whisper.

In case it hasn't ever been mentioned please DO NOT draw Durant.
If you want to try Alyssa though, feel free to.
(While I realize that this is not a proper request, I'm not really requesting either. Just stating that if you feel so inclined, that you can draw Alyssa)

Well, if you started you can finish it. Just don't put it up.
There's someone else who I have doing it, and I'd prefer that she finishes it and gets it up here first. There's a bit more to the tale than that, but I'd prefer not to explain more than that.
