I am now proposing changing the default forum's colors and skin to make it much more distinctive and professional looking, compared to the current one. We're trying to get new members now, and want this page to look nice. So, now, a new contest.
Replace the old banner of Elliot's with something new, fresh, and entirely US! All participants will receive +2 Karma and +75 EP, and the winner will receive +750 EP and +10 Karma. The image must be appropriate, of the right size and format, and feature the "The Exodus" logo, as seen on many of the skins' banners here. This contest is open until December 1st, where the voting begins.

it depends on when you want the image, and what image you want.

The image is all up to your artistic vision. Just try to make it represent The Exodus as best you can, within the appropriate size.

Say what you like, but I know what I'm doing with my 2,500 EP...

Lol, maybe I'll come up with a more serious banner later. Depends. If the boards are still dead, then that's an accurate representation.

All EP bonuses will be granted at the end of the contest, BTW. Right now, our biggest contender is Photu, with Prime runner up!

Sweet. That would lend itself very well to a lovely autumnal theme.

Just a little announcement here. We will be using the most popular skin, December, as the default skin for a while, and see how it works.

Yay December ^^
Note to anyone who was just surprised about their skin changing to the old default: Proboards is evil like that. Switch it back to whatever you had before in your profile.

Ew. Light blue on blue != good. Honestly, I think I almost spazzed when I clicked on the site.
-Low contrast between text and background = hard to read. -High color saturation in background = very very shocking to the eye.
My conceited advice:
-Stick with low saturation background colors. (ie, closer to black or white than colored) -Go to the opposite side of the color wheel for the general area of color to use for text. Better contrast and they match.
Sorry, I'm in critic mode. ^_^

Do it a lot, I find most of the skins hard to deal with, due to the harshness on the eye's.

I think the new main look is awesome, lol, for obvious reasons. Anyways, how many times may a person enter?
By the way, ch00beh is God.

Everybody may enter twice. They may post more than two images, but must choose their final two BEFORE the contest goes into its poll phase.

Yeah, Ch00bs is god indeed. He's far better at material modeling than myself. Though I don't know which of us is superior in terms of spacecraft modeling.
And can I make a banner submission for the Space skin Lee?

Yes, that would fall under the "Contribution" EP bonus. And would be muchly appreciated. ^_^

It shall be done.
Hope you don't mind if I do it in space RP style.

That is totally fine. As our resident space-farer, RP-wise, I doubt there's many others as qualified.

You have more practice at modeling, but you suck at colors, textures, reflection, and pleasing the aesthetics. So it balances out to be that I am better at 3D.

Just out of curiosity, what programs do you two use for 3D modeling?

I'd like to say that I kind of like the new look, but it certainly would be an improvement to find a better color contrast for the sake of everyone's poor eyeballs. I'd like 2 add something that's been bugging me: make them be smaller! Like the one currently being used (as of Nov. 3), for example. That's a pretty decent size/shape. I just can't stand huge banners taking up space at the top of a board... it looks awful. Okay. Here's my attempt at a nifty banner (be gentle if it's bad; without many sprites to work with, this is considerabley decent).

Feels like all the effort put into making it was a waste.
