It has come to my attention that we don't seem very inviting to new members.
We're appearing to be way too close-knit. There aren't many people to cover a wide variety of interests. We've posted lots of links around the web, so why aren't we getting new members?
Lack of interest. We'll need to cover ALL bases. Appeal to the Warhammer heads, to the Justice League junkies, to the Namie Amuro lovers, to the techie geeks, to Surrealist artist fans, etcetera etcetera. I know we don't want to seem "droll" to other people. So let's fix this place up a bit.
And no, admin group, this isn't just about you-know-who. It was inspired by him, but it's not just because of him. We really aren't getting any new members. And if we do, they don't stay. We need to welcome them with open arms, and not appear to them as a school of fish with no room for any new recruits.
Meh.

Well, I'm probably going to get a lot of Warhammer 40,000 shouted over my head now, since my brother's got hooked. -_-" Also, I know many j-pop, j-rock and j-anything fans What would you suggest doing to attract them? New boards? Competitions? Events? EDIT: WHAT THE FRIG HAPPENED TO THE COLOUR SCHEME WHEN I HIT ENTER?!

XD I LITERALLY LAUGHED WHEN I READ THAT
Competitions would be good, and new boards wouldn't hurt. (I have a friend who eats, drinks, and breathes Warhammer 40k....Dawn of War anyone?) Most of the friends I persuaded to join up left... One got angry at me ;_;
So yeah....new stuff we will be needing. New skins might also be a good idea. And perhaps a welcome board....

Honestly the lack of new members doesn't bother me so much. I know Archipelago Exodus may not seem this way to other members, but I've always viewed it as being primarily a replacement for the fallen Pokeschool without so much of a Pokemon fixation.* A place where some of the old members of that great forum can gather and create their own community. So even if there are only a dozen or so of us, the fact that we're active enough to keep Archie Exie alive is enough to keep me happy.
I'm not trying to be hostile; I wouldn't be against new members; I just don't think our current state is an active problem, and going out of our way to expand the board's appeal to things like the Warhammer heads and the Justice League junkies might be overlooking a big part of why this forum exists in the first place.
*That's not to say I don't think Pokemon Games should be its own full-fledged board, but that's just a matter of convenience.

Pohatu, even Lee agrees with me that we want to make this board a home for more people. Sure, the dozen or so members here are nice, but in order to grow, we'll need to expand our horizons...
(I wouln't mind a couple of Warhammer heads actually.... I want to play ;_;)

You've only bolstered your argument with Lee's support without actually providing more elaborate reasons why we need to expand.

I don't want a massive expansion personally. I just want to RP. I wouldn't be against a few new faces, but turning the boards into an online community we can't keep track of is going a bit far.

I don't want a huge expansion, maybe just a few more members. *shrugs*
Perhaps that radio project thingy would help. *pokes Lee about it*

I want roughly what the Snitz was, a community roughly 100 strong or so with 20-35 very active members. Right now, as active members, we've got:
Very Active: Prime Aurora Photu Myself
Active: Pika Loogs BB DL Andurin RLRL
Occasional: Kara Baboon Cinders Albatross Stephanitis Yagei (Iffy)
We really need an active main page to start drawing people though, something that can grab people and make them want to join. Right now, we're just "That place that left TCGPlayer". We need to be "That place that has _______, _____________, and ______________."
I want a flow of members that can sustain Snitz-esque levels of activity. With that, the boards become self sustaining, and can continue indefinately as long as we avoid Elly-belly-esque calamities of Cheddar-Head style administrative **** ups. Then RPing will be easy and good again, and we'll have much more active and fun topics in Misc. and Scrap Heap. Contests will flourish with more entries, and the boards as a whole can begin to thrive fully.

Technically, I check everyday, I just don't post all the time. ^^"
And again, I'll suggest that radio thingummy. If you get enough people working on it, dedicated people, then it'd probably bring in a few more people.

I'm here every day, multiple times a day. There's just nothing to do if you're not involved in RP. So if anyone accuses me of not posting, that's why. Perhaps we need more things unrelated to that.

I could try to get a game of Mafia together, but I'm not sure if we have enough people.

Mafia? I must be a stupid doodyface, because I have no idea what you're talking about.

In Mafia, you have a group of townspeople, some of whom are Mafia members. The Mafia members know each others' identities, but the Innocents don't know who is a Mafia member and who is an Innocent. Every night the Mafia members consult each other and decide on an Innocent to kill. The next morning, that Innocent is removed from the game and all the townspeople gather to trade suggestions and accusations. Someone must be accused of being a Mafia member and, by a majority vote, executed. Then, that night, the Mafia members consult again, and so on.
If the Mafia successfully eliminates all the Innocents, they win; if the Innocents expunge all the Mafia members, they win instead.
There are specialized roles on both sides; for instance, the Doctor chooses someone to rescue each night. If that person also happens to be the Mafia's chosen victim for that night, they are saved and remain among the living.
I've long wanted to orchestrate a game, but like I said, I'd need to know that a substantial number of people (eight-twelve would be good) supported the idea before starting.

You've got yourself, me, loogs, and I'm not sure who else, I'm thinking. So we need about five or six more people, at least.

Volunteers? Prime? Aurora? RLRL?
By the way, I wouldn't be playing. I would be hosting. So I wouldn't add to the player count.

You've just suggested to turn this into TCG.. No. And that I am not happy with, Snitz, or Pokeschool fine. But adding adding to everyone's intrests is TCG style..
I'll play this Mafia game if need be.

Lol, mafia was one of the most popular games in drama class back in nebraska, count me in mate. Yeah, I first learned it in a drama class too. I was pleasantly surprised this real-life game had been ported to teh intarwebs. Okay, so we've got Prime, Aurora, Lee, and prolly Loogs. Who else?

Another thing that has been bugging me, is that you want new members for what RPing? Maybe you should start RPing whenever you have the slightest chance, so that people are encouraged to do the same. This isn't to anyone in paticular, but.. you know, some of the regulars, and people who are not so, could RP once in awhile instead of leaving me and Prime to do it all.

Yeah seriously, between the two of us, we're probably about 70% of the RP content. We've done it all together, and we can't think of any more new twists on old stories. For the love of god, please, rp every change you can get. Your untapped skulls much be full of idea's!!!

I've been pushing ideas out pretty much as fast as I can, and I've been lighting Loogs on fire, too. I've got a few ideas I want to put up as RPs pretty soon, and I intend to post in every available RP within the next few nights. I'm going to do all that I can to help with that one.

To be honest the RPs that are being posted just don't interest me. I don't give a rats ass about power ups or new weapons, I want a good story and I just don't see that in any of the current RPs.
I'd be happy to play mafia, that game rocks.

^ Indeed. I'm getting VERY bored with RP atm. I need something to light me up again. My RPing is getting worse and worse these past few weeks because it's becoming boring.

I'm planning on doing something moderately creative and fun for a follow up plot to the Humanus Tournament. No, it's not another tournament like it, though I'll make up tournies any time that members want a new one.
I also have some plans for both alliances, fairly wide open things that could be a way to work one's way into either team.

I'd like to play mafia too ^^ Sounds a bit like wink murder, only not.
I think the reason I dropped out of RPing was mainly due to school, but I'd be happy to pick it up again. Someone poke me when a good topic's up, but after wednesday week thanks, I have exams...
