Started a new thread because the Gen V topic was like six pages long and mostly anticipatory. Today was the day, folks! Did you remember? Because I didn't until almost seven at night. BUT I HAVE IT NOW. And that's what matters. I got the Black version, a decision based solely on the fact that I had a white DS and I decided it would contrast nicely, and I went with Oshawott (the sort-of unfortunately named water-type starter). A friend of mine at school got lucky with a female grass starter so I'm just going to have him hatch me up something. So far I'm in love with it ^-^ I'm on my way to the second badge and trying to fill my party out. Sooo... Do you like it? What version did you get? Which starter? Tell us everything!

I don't actually legally have it yet - although I will be getting it pretty soon with many thanks to my lifemate~ I'm getting White, and I'm most likely going to start with Snivy - just because I usually start with grass starters. Oshawott is one hell of an awesome PokeMon line though. Trained the blasted thing on a ROM before. XD

I just got White yesterday~ (Plus a copy for my lifemate <3~) and I've been playing it nonstop since I got it XD
I started with Oshawott just because I've raised it on a ROM and it ended up being supremely awesome :3 I'm still trouncing through some route before the second badge |D

Same here. I tried the second gym leader last night but my team's just a tad underleveled for it. It seems to be much easier to grind out experience in this game, though, so I'm not too upset.

Everybody is getting Oshawatt or Snivy. To be honest, it's a bit disapointing. I was able to get one girl to name her Snivy "Asmodeus" though. redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Asmodeus

Oh no. It's not that.
I'm disappointed because more than likely I'm going to have to get it when I eventually get White. (I already called Snivy.)

By this I mean that I'm disappointed because I'm more than likely going to have to get Tepig on White as I already called Snivy for Black. Otherwise I will probably not be able to get the data for Tepig. I know of more than ten people who got the game. None of them have gotten Tepig. I was told of two people who got the game who are getting Tepig, but I never see these people.

I've been playing on a translated ROM while my actual copy was reserved, but not paid off yet.
Got the 2nd badge, evolved my starter the second time and evolved my backup, now trying to find where the hell that damn Munna is.

I got it but haven't started playing. I have my heart set on a specific team with mostly specific natures. I even named them all in advance My wife was helping me try and try until we got me an Adamant Oshawott. I ALWAYS go with fire, but Hambeast's highly self-destructive movepool turned me off to it. Plus, I only like to have one of any type on a team and this lets me get Chandelure. I know you people don't usually buy into my playing style, but I'ma post my team anyway. The movesets are somewhat tentative, but here they are: Jack the Samurott Adamant Nature Megahorn Waterfall/Aqua Tail Slash Revenge Jules the Chandelure Timid Flame Body Flame Burst Hex Purgatory Shadow Ball ? the Galvantula Modest Compound Eyes Thunder Discharge Bug Buzz Energy Ball Pennywise the Conkeldurr Jolly Sheer Force with a Life Orb or just Guts Chip Away Stone Edge Superpower EQ/Payback Chell (female) or Cube (male) the Krookadile Adamant or Jolly Moxie Crunch Aerial Ace Knock Down EQ Maya (f) or Mestizo (m) the Archeops Adamant EQ Stone Edge Aerial Ace Rest

I've completed it already :3
My team is (bearing in mind natures don't bother me first play through):
Yojimbo the Samurott Surf, Aqua Tail, Slash, Revenge
QueenMimic the Galvantula Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Signal Beam, Cut
N-Zyme the Reuniclus(thing, I'm still learning the names) Psychic, Shadow Ball, Flash Cannon, Flash
No Logic the Golurk EQ, Shadow Punch, Strength, Fly (why can it fly whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy mind broken)
Lumiere the Chandelure Psychic, Shadow Ball, Flamethrow, Will-o-Wisp
and I recently replaced Gigalith with a Mienfoo. It's being exp. shared to catch up with everyone else.

My wife suggested I name my Galvantula "Tesla"
It shall be done.
Also, she's sad because she was stuck in a double battle against a SHINY Pidove and she KOd its turd friend and when she went to use Scratch to weaken it? LOLCRITICAL. PIDOVE FAINTED. YOU GAINED 4.3 EXP.

oh wow, okay, so am I the only one who took one look at the pokemon on the boxes, and said "they have finally given up"?
because I have not been excited for this, like at all. for once in my life.
(I'll probably pick it up later anyway. after I am done with Portal 2 and maybe Duke Nukem Forever. you can't ever quit crack D:)

My Zekrom is named "Turbo Butt", on account of his tail apparently being a generator. I can't think of anything even remotely polite to call Reshiram.
Edit: Maybe it's because I'm a Londonerusing not-EV-trained pokemon, but the battle subway seems to get a lot more difficult on the third set of three. An Afrobull actually tore my team apart in the first battle.

I wonder if that's what it was that's been tearing everyone's teams apart. Pretty much everyone got their head handed to them yesterday.

I'm getting Tepig, but my sister demanded I wait for her to get me a copy of the game, and she's in El Salvador for half a month, so I'll be a bit behind you guys.
I'm starting with Tepig, since he's so hated. I just use my starter for an HM slave anyways, so why worry?

Fun facts:
HMs are no longer Gym Badge dependant!
You only ever need to use Cut to advance the plot iirc!

Bluhbluuuuh I'm in front of the Elite Four with the most horrendously underleveled team (save for my Samurott, who's slightly overleveled), cursing my inability to raise an even-leveled team >< I've always been terrible at evenly leveling my Pokemon, because I'm lazy |D

So... just beat Geethis (I can never remember his American name D:) with only my level 63 Samurott and some help from Zekrom. I got seriously lucky, until I went to go travel through White Forest only to find the trainers on the routes surrounding the area were like... LEVEL 65 WHATTTT. Nice Level curve, jerks.

Got it in the mail from my dear of a little sister. Right now... Yeah, my whole party's in the mid-twenties. The embio/mantis thingy is possibly the most badass bug I've ever trained. It doesn't even need to try to sweep parties like five levels higher up.
The fire starter... is blah. It's like all other starters, way, way, waaay too easy to kick butt with. So I'm prolly going to keep him only until I need Surf, and then switch a water type in.
My current party: -Pignite (Meh.) -Tranquill (Okay Pokemon, terrible name. Much as Spheal shoulda been Ballrus, Tranquill should have been Quillty, IMO.) -Cottonnee (sp?) (Its ability is AWESOME. It means I can ALWAYS tag a higher level opponent with a status before biting the dust, bar Ice Shard hijinks. It may actually be a better annoyer than Jumpluff.) -Whatever that Mantis/Webspinner thing is called. -Herdier (Surprisingly decent for what it is.) -Liepard (Also pretty nice, though boss pulls on Assist are a big part of that. I'm tempted to rename her Deus Ex Machina, because she's saved my bacon SOOO many times with lucky attacks. Especially vs. Lenora... Yeah, second to last Pokemon. Pulls Ember, burning the foe, and then proceeds to SPAM Rock Smash until it's almost dead. My Pidove finished the fight with a single Quick Attack afterwards.)
I'm surprised by the sheer number of solid grass types this gen. There's three lines I ADORE, and another two or three that are halfway decent. I'm turning into Durant over here.
