Tenser wandered absently through the wilderness, following the wild paths, where the deer and wolves made their way through the woods. He was in northern Japan, and quite happy to be far, far away from home. He was nearing the base of Mount Fuju, in fact, and he was curious what it would all look like from the top. And, while staring up at the peak, he suddenly fell through a hole.
"AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaa!"
* * *
"Ooph!"
He grunted, then attempted to pull himself to his feet. His legs were quite numb, and his ass hurt like hell now too. He scowled, then looked around. He was in a large cavern, which had only two exits. One was the hole in the ceiling, through which he'd fallen. The other was a pool of water in the corner that was slowly rising and falling due to unseen pressures, which clearly indicated an exit. The walls were covered with red sigils, all glowing eerily, and the middle of the room seemed to actually suck in light.
He moved closer to the center of the room, and found a tomb there. On top of the tomb was a small orb, so black it sucked in light. It was also sucking in slow pulses of energy from within the tomb, slowly channeled up through grooves filled with a glass-like substance. Tenser reached out with his right hand, curious, and lightly brushed the orb with his palm.
It immediately, yet painlessly, was absorbed into his skin, and he jerked his hand back. But to no avail: the orb was embedded in his hand. Only the darkness in the center of his palm and the back of his hand hinted at its existence. He focused on it, prodding it, feeling its presence in his hand. Suddenly, something dark and evil brushed his mind, and he cringed away from it. A black bow erupted in his hand, sucking at his energy. He looked at it with cloudy eyes, failing to understand, then quickly brought himself under control and shut it down before it could suck him dry.
He firmly decided not to think about the bow for now, and instead looked at the tomb. His heart froze. Energy had stopped pulsing through it, and it was beginning to open. He backed away from it, curious as to what was within, but fearing the contents of something that had been sealed away by an evil force. He waited with bated breath to see what would emerge.

The tomb exploded outwards the stone slab that had been keeping the being inside was totally destroyed, debris flying everywhere. All was silent for a few seconds, before the figure stood, a hooded cape draped across the man’s body, hiding his face. He wore a black sleeveless leather top, revealing chain mail underneath it, and baggy black pants, with leather black boots to finish the outfit.
His hand gripped a bastard sword, its red blade very long. He sheathed it, his eyes glowed a dull red for a second before they faded back to whatever natural colour they were.
Spotting Tenser he spoke, his voice unusually warm for someone of his appearance, “Where am I? And what year is it?” The man asked.

"Um." Tenser said uncertainly. "Your in japan, at the base of Mount Fuju. And its 2007." He said, trying not to make any kind of aggressive movements. This man didn't look particularly healthy, especially if Tenser managed to piss him off. He was just starting to back away again, when his arm exploded in agony. He screamed, and hit the floor, writhing in horrible pain. The veins in his arm changed from blue, to red, and his skin became horrible pale. His brown eye's changed to cat's eye's, and turned a violent shade of purple. Presently he stopped writhing, but remained on the ground, holding himself tightly.
He didn't even care who the man was anymore, he just wanted this damn thing out of his hand. But he didn't think it was going to let go of him without a fight. It was evil, and it had tainted him, and he was bound to it now. He looked at the man standing in the tomb again, and his eye's were far more feral and confident than they were a moment before. As though suddenly the world had fallen into perspective as something far worse had taken hold of him. He clenched his hand experamentally, then stood up.
"Who are you?" He asked the man, who was obviously a warrior. Though whether a dark warrior, or an uncaring warrior was at question. "And why were you sealed away in here? Why use something so powerfully evil to contain you?"

“My name is Erised and I was probably sealed away here after my death, by enemies, so I did not return,” Erised explained, before stepping out the tomb and walking towards Tenser, “And who are you?” He asked suddenly, curious. Before looking down at the man’s hand, to see what he had done. The sphere, he could feel the darkness within it, probably what kept him sealed.

"I'm Tenser." He said, using his nick name. He didn't think he'd be using his real name anymore. "I was out for a walk, and I fell into hell." He said comically. "You wouldn't happen to know how to get out of here would you?" He asked hopefully. It was a dreary place, all the more eerie with the sigils on the walls. "I keep getting the feeling those sigils are watching me, and its starting to creep me out."

Erised nodded slightly, placing a hand on Tenser’s shoulder and in seconds they were outside, right next to the hole Tenser had fallen through. Erised, blinked the sunlight was intense; he had been in the dark all too long.
“Why are you out here?” Erised asked.

Tenser started, looking around in the bright sunlight. "Teleport?" He said, then looked at Erised. "I was going to visit Mount Fuju. I ran away from my home in North America, you see, and now I'm here. So I thought I might as well take in the sights." He help up his hand. "Though it seems I've taken in more than the sights this time around." He said. I sudden howling went up around Erised and Tenser. Tenser froze, he could hear them. Monsters. The darkness contained within his hand called to them. He cried out as the orb stroked his mind again, craving the kill. Wanting to absorb the power of those that stalked it.
"You may want to leave." Tenser said shakily, clenching his fist. "It seems that, now that this thing is away, some very unpleasant things are being attracted to it." He turned this way and that, trying to find the beasts that stalked him. His hand crackled with the energy of darkness, the bow wanting nothing more than to be unleashed.

“You will not be the one slaying them,” Erised snapped, standing in front of Tenser, “If you give into the darkness, you have lost. And you will be no more,” Erised explained then nodded, telling Tenser to lead him.

Tenser sighed with relief. "Though I hadn't exactly planned on giving in, I'm glad you've decided to stay." He pointed towards town. "That were, its a small town, but they have a skill mithril smith. It'll empty out my credit cards, but I'd rather have a blade in my hands than this goddamn bow suckling at my soul." He said, the started walked. However, before he got more than a few steps, a werewolf trotted out before him. A creature of darkness called by the darkness, perhaps even transformed by its influence. "Oh shit." Tenser said, backing away. The werewolf lunged, Tenser cursed and fell to the ground, kicking with both feet. He hit it clear in the chest, forcing it off of him for a moment, then rolled away from it. "You wouldn't happen to have any silver would you?" He asked Erised anxiously.

“Won’t need it,” Erised snapped, “Run.” He called his sword singing in the air as he unsheathed it. The werewolf lunged at him, Erised spun around and kicked his foot landing square in the head, forcing it back again. His eyes from under his hood glowed again as fire streamed out of his free hand circling the werewolf and igniting the ground. It would keep the werewolf at bay so they could get to safety, they’d have to find silver before it realised the fire wouldn’t do much damage though.

Tenser didn't waist any time, he turned his back on the werewolf and bolted like a bat out of hell. His whole arm was seething with darkness now, aching to kill and drain the darkness from other beings like itself. Tenser clenched his fist shut, and just kept on running. He'd forsaken the path and was running through the woods, heading for the town. He burst out of the woods and into someone's back yard, howls slowly went up behind him, making his hackles rise. He ran towards the house, smashed through the sliding glass door, and shouldered the front door open, running down the street until he was in the southern part of town.
He burst into the smiths shop. "What in the bloody hell!" The burley man said, taking a step towards Tenser. "Sorry, no time to explain." He said in a rushed voice, ran over to the counter, swiped his credit card through the machine, and typed in his pin number, then looked around the room for what he needed. He grabbed two mithril short swords, buckling them onto his belt, a mithril mask with leather strapes and buckled it onto his head. Only his eye's were visible, and the two slits in the front where his only means of attaining oxygen, but the flow we clear so he wasn't bothered by it. He threw on a mithril chain shirt, pulled on mithril chainmail trousers, buckling them with his sword belt. Pulled on some greaves, then vambraces, and finally a thick chestplate.
He looked a lot like Erised now, accept of the opposite color. "Charge whatever you want!" He yelled at the smith on the way out the door. He looked up and down the street, but he couldn't see Erised or the werewolves, then, cursing he turned back to the shop, only to find a werewolf blocking his way. "Fuck!" He cursed. "I forgot the damn silver!" He said, his miffled voice filtered through the mask. The werewolf lunged at him, and he ducked quickly, smacking it in the jaw with a mailed fist. The werewolf fell over, then staggered to its feet, shaking its head to clear it. Tenser drew both of his swords. "Fuck you!" He said harshly to the werewolf, and brought both of the blades down on its skull, cutting its head into three pieces.
He ran back into the shop, just as the smith was entering the numbers in the till. "What the fuck do you want now!" The smithed yelled at him. Tenser sighed, ran across the room, and grabbed two deadly looking daggers. He tucked one into his belt, and left the store again, looking for Erised. He made sure, however, to stick the werewolf with his silver dagger on the way out.

Erised walked out the woods, his sword sheathed once again and his eyes not glowing. He noticed the werewolf corpse; Tenser had managed to kill it.
“What’s with the armour, you’re not a tank.” Erised joked.

Tenser chuckled. "Well, mithril is quite light. So I decided while I'm going broke, I might as well pay for some extra protection to cover all the bases." He said, chucking the dagger to Erised. "That's silver. Stick it in they're eye's. Theirs still the one behind us, and I can hear the howls in the distance the same as you." Darkness almost completely covered his right arm now. The bow hungered, wants to be used, wanting to destroy, its sick, evil influence brushing his mind. "I wish I could turn this fucking thing off." He grunted, focusing. But to no avail, the bow was far more ancient than he. "Its all I can do to keep it from emerging like it did earlier."

Erised smiled, “A holy temple or some sort may be able to do, a few people around the world, people like me might be able to as well, but we mustn’t rely on them.” Erised explained, before turning suddenly, and tossing the dagger he had been given hard, it impaled the werewolf in the eye, which had just shot out the woods. He turned back to Tenser.
“I’ll follow you, you lead the way.” Erised said.

"You might want to get that dagger back first, there will be more of them." Tenser said, then turned and started walking down the street. He looked up at mount fuju, and the slowly darkening sky. "Shit, I forgot." Tenser said. "Theirs a holy spring on the top of Mount Fuju, used to perform purification rituals!" He told Erised, then ran over to someone car, and busted the window in, unlocking the door, and hotwiring the car. "Come on!" He yelled at Erised. The howling was getting a lot louder now.

Aurora smiled as he ripped the dagger from the werewolf’s eye; Tenser wasn’t used to the ways of travel it seemed as he walked to the car and placed a hand on the bonnet, seconds later they were on top of the Mountain. Aurora chuckled.
“Here we are,” Aurora smiled, looking around.

Tenser blinked harshly, getting his bareings. "I most decidedly hate teleporting." He said fervently, getting out of the car and quickly locating the spring. "What should I do? Bath in it? Or just stick my hand in?" He muttered absently. He settled for the ladder, to start with. He plunged his hand into the cold, icy water, and immidiately the darkness coating his arm flowed off, and began to coat the spring, infesting the waters. In a moment his arm was pure, radiating white light, and the spring was a dark cesspool of evil. Even louder howls went up in the air, as the power of the darkness was magnified by its new volume. "Oh crap." Tenser said. "I think we still have troubles."

Erised nodded his sword singing through the air again as it was unleashed from its sheath, his eyes had begun to glow he hated Dark creatures, or anything dark for that matter. He’d kill as many as he needed too. He swung the sword through the air a few times, still trying to get most of the feeling into his arms, being asleep for a few years didn’t really help his physique.

Tenser drew his sword just as the first werewolf barreled up the side of the mountain. It lunged at Tenser, though he threw himself to the side and kicked it in the head. He whirled to his feet, holding his silver dagger in his other hand, and plunged it into the werewolves throat. It struggled for a moment, then lye still. Tenser could plainly see more werewolves coming up the side of the mountain. The light was blocked out overhead, and he looked up to see drakes and weredrakes. He shuddered, those were both far more fearsome creatures. "Yeah, we've definately got problems." He said quite avidly, another werewolf barreling towards him. It sunk its teeth into his chainmailed arm, but thankfully didn't penetrate. Tenser stabbed it in the throat, then cut at it with his sword, just to be sure. "Got any idea's?" He asked anxiously.

Erised just shrugged and moved forward to engage some of the Drakes. He dodged under claws being swiped at him, and under the fire that was streaming out some of their mouths. He met the first, slashing low, cutting its lower body from its higher, and the second fell easily too, now with no head.
He ran at the next, jumping and kicking it in whatever chest it had, sending it tumbling down the mountain, Erised would have laughed if it wasn’t such a dire situation.
“Need to stop the dark water aura thing, so it doesn’t call to others.” Erised called over his shoulder.

Tenser blinked, then tried to think. Made hard by the fact that there was an extremely pissed off werewolf on top of him, pissed because hit sword was all the way through its chest and sticking out the other side. Tenser coughed as the werewolves blood got in his mouth, and he was forced to swallow so he could bloody well breath. He shoved his dagger in its chest, twisted it, and shoved the werewolf off him and pulled his sword out. "Purify purify purify..." He chanted, and then an idea struck him. He put his sword and dagger away, and held his right arm forwards. A bow composed of white energy erupted into existence in his hand, generated by the concieled artifact. Pure.
He aimed it at the pool of water, draw back the white string of energy, an arrow materialising as he did so. He could feel it sucking at his energy, but not nearly so hungrely as it had before. He fired the arrow into the center of the pool, the arrow going off like a cannon ball from a cannon. A tremendous blast of white misted energy blew out behind Tenser as he fired the bow. The arrow plunged into the center of the spring, and the center became clear again. Tenser fired once more, and a larger area of the spring was purified. With his final shot, the lake was completely purified, and Tenser fell to his knee's, his vision wobbly. Even without the evil, the bow needed a tremendous energy source. It felt like every arrow he fired was a piece of his soul.
"Done!" He called in a slightly unsteady voice to Erised. "See if you can give them a scare!" He called, drawing his swords. He tried to stand up, but his legs weren't working particularely well.

“As you wish,” Erised murmured before crouching down summoning his powers to him, he leapt into the air seconds later, his fire streaming out everywhere, a dull shield appearing around Tenser as he did so. The fire burnt as it impacted on the dark creatures, not killing them but enough to scare them away.
“There.” Erised laughed as the last of his fire, and the creatures went.

Tenser tossed Erised a salute, and gratefully collapsed. "Thanks for the help." He whipped a little card at Erised, with his cell phone number on it. "Call me if you ever need me for anything. I think I'm going to go try and get used to this bow. Oh, and by the way, how the hell do you do the teleport thing?"

“Just concentrate and think of the destination you want to go, you need to will your body to go there,” Aurora answered.
