Prologue The moon's defiant white presence demanded attention. Humans wouldn't understand the beauty the pock-marked orb in the sky radiated, but the wolves did. The sun was a simple thing, over-confident and arrogant in its painful, blinding light. With it came poachers, hunters, and dangers the wolves hadn't known until recently. With the moon came peace. It's soft white glow cast silvery shadows from each of the wolves' bodies. In its own way it dominated the sun, stealing the gigantic star's light for its own manipulation on a regular basis.
Quicksilver knew all of this; the information was ancient, and taught to every wolf pup. The knowledge of Sun, Moon, Sky, Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Predators, Prey, and worst of all, Human. All of this was common information, easily accessible from the lean, small but skillful, silver wolf's memory banks. His darkened jet-black paws were balanced carefully on a cliff edge, his wet black nose sniffed the scents carried by the wind. Nothing important tickled his mind, just the odors of his future pack. A quick, brittle snap jolted his senses, and he turned like lightning while his ears, faded from beautiful silver to rich black, snapped up. Listen...listen...
He snorted bitterly. He was nearly out of his pup years. Soon to be considered an adolescent, he had to be more aware. If that had been a Hunter after his fur, his chances of surviving would've been slim. Too slim. Quicksilver let his ears relax minutely, and he cast one last glance up at the moon. It's luxurious color mimicked his own, and blended beautifully with his black ears, snout, paws, and tail. Some day, he thought, his electric-blue eyes glittering with determination, I'll be standing at the tallest spot in the land, with my pack behind me.
He smiled with wolfish intelligence. Someday. For now, he had to prove his existence to be better than Midnight's son's. The current pack leader was planning everything for his own offspring, ignoring the pup's laziness. The same age, Quicksilver was better at everything than Moonlight. He just kept it a secret. Until the time was right, it was a secret.
Note: Please rate this and tell me whatcha think. I just did this after I posted my latest chapter of my other story. I really, really like it, despite the lack of detail. I love the idea of a wolf-main-character.

Chapter 1
It was daytime, the sun's overconfident light shot through the forest's trees, and washed the wolves' glade with warmth. Only a few of the wolves were out, hunting for meat, be it deer or moose or rabbit. But in one of the wide dens the pack had created, there were more important matters to tend to. A small female wolf was on her side, giving birth to her first litter of pups. Her deep charcoal gray fur was matted with sweat, and Lightstar had to resist the urge to howl.
The first one out was a mixture of Lightstar's and Shadowfang's color. Its own fur was a swirl of black and grays, with beautiful silver eyes. She was followed by a small silver pup, its own color unique, with black ears, paws, tail, and even its snout. Lightstar expected more, but no new bundles of fur came. She blinked, then looked over at her offspring. One male and one female, both with unique colors. The female pup was actually larger than the other, but Star could see the life in the silver pup as well. She sniffed each one lovingly, then drew the blind and deaf pups close to her. *** Quicksilver and Firelight each grew more determined to go Outside every day. The two siblings expressed their desire in separate ways, but neither was willing to wait much longer. Quicksilver had nearly slipped out of the den five times in the last week, and Firelight was a never ending chorus of pleas. The only time they weren't trying their luck at the Outside was lesson-time. Quicksilver would sit with his bottle-brush tail curled around his paws, and Firelight would lay down sphinx-style each night, just to listen to the ancient lessons. They heard of the Moon's brave defiance to the Sun, of Fire's beautiful danger and how Water could conquer it, of how Air was everywhere, smelled but unseen.
This night was no different. As silver moonlight flooded their den, and Shadowfang sat solidly at their home's base, the duo listened. Lightstar gave them each an affectionate lick, then started. Predators and Prey.
“At the very beginning of time, when there was only a single wolf pack in all the land, they knew not how to eat. They tried emerald green grasses as the rabbits did, but the plants sat unnoticed in their bellies. They sampled berries of blue and red, like the bear did, but the flavor was unsatisfying and bitter to them.”
“But mom, why didn't they eat the rabbits?” Fire's elegant voice called out, ignoring Silver's annoyed gaze.
Star seemed bemused, and shook her slender head.
“Listen, Firelight. In the beginning, wolves did not knew that they must kill to eat. They saw the rabbit eating grass, but didn't witness the fox snatching up the hare from its meal. They watched the bear snacking on berries, but weren't around when the bear used its mighty claws to land fish from the river. So they wandered around, each exhausted with hunger. They studied the deer, mockingly frolicking in front of them. They looked at the rabbits, leaping in front of their very mouths. Until finally, Brightmoon, a silver wolf of deep thought, decided to test out a theory.”
When Lightstar stopped, abruptly as usual, Quicksilver had to muffle his whine of longing. Firelight was more outright.
“Mom! I wanna hear the rest!” she warbled, tugging coyly at her mother's swishing gray tail.
The deep gray wolf turned to her pup with a strange look in her eyes. She lifted her shaggy face up to Shadow, and he nodded back at her solemnly. Quicksilver caught it all, and his patient curiosity arose. He stood, and stretched as he had seen his father, then pricked his ears up.
“What are we doing tonight?” he asked, his voice a calm and noble one.
The pups' mother grinned knowingly, and gestured with her snout towards the den's opening. Quicksilver was there in a flash, Firelight at his heels. They bunched around their father's dominant body, yelping hopefully; even Silver was overcome by excitement. The jet-black wolf rose, and bounded out into the moonlit night, followed by two overjoyed pups.
Note: Not very detailed, but I wanted them to be old enough to adventure around before I got into deep storylines~

Chapter 2
Quicksilver slowed once his paws touched grass. The soft green blades tickled the pads of his feet, and he could almost sense the soil in which they grew. Firelight loped around him, eager to see everything at once. Her gray and black ears were cocked up, and her tail wagged happily as she gazed up into the dark sky. Her chubby pup-fat and clumsy big paws pitched forward as she lifted her eyes upwards, her pupils reflecting millions of pinpricks of light. As she sat up from the ground, she saw Silver, slowly venturing around the glade, sniffing everything cautiously. She frowned and bounded up to him, leaping into the air for a nice tackle.
The male pup glanced at his energetic sister, and sidestepped her assault easily. He quickly overcame her, pinning her body to the ground with his own pup-paws. She snorted irritably and rolled over.
“Show off.” she muttered darkly, dashing over to their parents.
Quicksilver was enticed by this outside world. There was so much...different colors of flowers, stones that varied in size and texture, and even sounds that echoed in his ears. Then there were the smells. Every time a gust of wind ruffled his fur, Silver froze, his mind preoccupied. He could smell other creatures, the wet scent of water, and so many other things he was dumbfounded. Reaching the edge of the glade, his gaze rose, amazed at the height of a single tree. Its rough brown bark challenged him, far up emerald leaves fluttered coyly in the wind...and there were different types of them, too. His ears pricked forward as a high-pitched screeching called out.
“EeeeeEEEeee...CrReeeEEeee...”
He sniffed around, but couldn't find out what the noise was. He stepped forward, then shot up vertically in alarm. A small, dark brown thing popped into the air, lurching several feet away. He shivered, trying to slow his heartbeat. A small chortle came from behind him, and he turned to see his mother smiling.
“A cricket, Quicksilver. I've told you about insects.” she reminded gently.
He nodded, and looked back to where it had landed, his eyes narrowing until he spotted the tiny bug crawling about. He approached quietly, the pads of his feet barely crunching the grass. He finally got close enough to it to observe it, and he did so, catching and holding its scent in his mind. Remember this, he lectured himself. Next time he heard the Cricket's chiming song, he'd smell it out.
After awhile he decided to see the moon, an event he had been saving, ready to enjoy and savor as much as possible. He sat down and tucked his tail around his paws, creating a small circle of black, then tilted back his head. His electric blue eyes widened as the solitary orb of white doubled in his vision. Even the other shimmering dots of light evaporated in his view. The moon truly was honorable, and he doubted any 'Sun' could beat such a marvelous object. A gut feeling curdled in his stomach, and he felt a need to let it go. His throat ached as he felt a rumble form in it, so he let it out. His first howl pulsed through the night, young and full of joy. Quicksilver swore to himself that he would find out everything there was to know about...everything! He would prowl the magnificent, bright, huge, thrilling world that surrounded him, and mark everything in his mind.
Fire came up next to him and sat the same way, her own tail flitting back and forth. As he took in air for another chorus in his song, she joined. Together the pups voices expressed the delight they had discovered, the thrill that was everywhere, and their own promises to the moon.
Note: Yes, there are going to be a lot of chapters~!!

^.^, Really exellent so far. I'm surprised no one else has commented, though I must say its not the kind of thing that would catch public interest.
