okay, Exodus, hear me out here a sec:
I was kind of thinking, I wanna make more engaging pieces than just the portraits I've been doing, so I thought, "What if RPs had covers like albums or books?" Imagine what kind of cover you would see if you picked up a copy of say, Triannual or Obscured Truth in published form.
It would give me an awesome opportunity to flex some publishing and graphic design muscles, and get some typography practice and such. Lee is suggesting I do them to commemorate finished RPs, so there's your incentive to frickin' post, yall. For now though, I'm wondering which one to tackle first. Put it up to a vote?
Pohatu, maybe this is something you'd want to collab for? What do you say?

I like this idea a lot. Me trying to participate would probably be awful because I'm not much good with backgrounds and I'm not talented enough to go more abstract (though how fucking cool would Dave McKean-style RP covers be), but still, could give it a shot.

Suggested Triannual Cover: Natalie's in the foreground, aggressive pose, facing away from the reader. In the center of the piece, we've got a frazzled looking Garth, a more... tense but trying to look approachable Terrian (maybe with his dupe), and Prime, gun halfway out of its holster. Behind them is Nopcsa, Nachoset, and Giguere doing the classic "evil overlooker" tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilOverlookerThe mood should be really tense, and the people in the middle should look (mostly) emotionally conflicted. (I'm not really sure about Valon/Sly/Abatis/Ender/Uca so forth. They're in the plot but they're not essential) (Emily COULD go in the middle, but she's not actually emotionally conflicted in the least?)

I think RP covers would work better if they didn't try to include too many characters, and instead focused on capturing the tone of the story in a less literally representative way. I'm really inspired by the "Beautiful Death" series – an officially-commissioned series of Game of Thrones posters, one for each episode, usually depicting a character's death, but in a highly abstract way that appeals more to mood, symbolism, and composition than direct illustration. Below are a few that stand out to me (click for bigger versions). The ones I've chosen are not really that spoilery if you haven't watched the series, precisely because they're not literally informative, but I'll throw them under a spoiler tag anyway just in case. (Some other ones on the site are spoilery, because sometimes the little caption gives something away. So I wouldn't recommend browsing the site if you're considering watching the series. It's beautifuldeath.com, though.) I don't have one thousandth the artistic talent it would take to pull off stuff like this. All I'm saying is I really like the design philosophy here.

I was gonna say, my artistic eye gravitates more toward abstracted images and symbols, because graphic design.
Also it's summer now so maybe I'll actually tackle one of these sometime
