Anyone else out there playing this? Its pretty goddamn amazing in all honesty, like the perfect blend of Assassins Creed, Oblivion, and Shadows of the Colossus. Climb all over your enemies stabbing day asses, punt yourself across roofs and across battlements for random shortcut action. Plenty of classes to play with, and it doesn't limit you to a class per playthrough, you can pretty much max them all out if you want too. Plus the 'perks' or whatever, from each class, can be used by any class. Weapon skills and core skills are all specific, but if you get a skill like "Takes Less physical damage" or "Helps keep footing while blocking" Or "Extends Health Range" you can use them with any class.
Plus you get pawns, literally called pawns. Mindless followers that spend all their time learning what you want them to do, and doing it. God I love them so much. This is one game where I don't have an issue with the AI being a shitty healer. The AI, ISN'T, a shitty healer! You can actually play a not support class without a murderous difficulty curve! *hugs the game*
Also the character customization is just stupid nuts. There aren't sliders, but there are like 44 generalized options for EVERYTHING. Ear shape, ear size, eye shape, eye size, face shape, nose shape, nice width, nose length, hair style, hair colour, can make your eye's two different colours. Make legs long or short, torso long or short, wide or thin. Massive shoulders or little. Make arms longer or shorter, more muscular or less. Can modify the muscularity of your character in general to make him or her really cut, or really fat if you want too.
Make a child, make a supertall skinny elf.
The only thing that really pisses me off a bit about the game is there's a lot of emphasis on skill damage or elemental weaknesses. Basically if you're using a normal attack, you either have to have your weapon enchanted with something its weak to, or your damage is just pathetic. OR, have a magic weapon with a permanent enchant type x. (X being whatever it is you need at the time.) But permachanted weapons are fucking HARD TO FIND, found my first one at level 26. Took ages.
So far, after 14ish? hours, I've found about 4 of them. I'm pretty sure there are a buttload. Though it seems you can get them all from the capital cities shops too, if you do special quests for them. (Though this might be just for generic named weapons, I think you can get special one of a kind weapons that are epic +10, but I've not seem em yet.)
Imagine clinging to a griffon, 1000 feet in the air, pawns all below you freaking out, while you madly stab it in the face, totally ignoring how far you are about to fall down.
That is the epic of Dragons Dogma.
Oh also, dragons in this game? They're actually fucking dragons! Not a skyrim copout Wyvern. Or a Monster Hunter Copout Wyvern.
A WYRM! 4 Legs, 2 wings, cast magic, very smart, very BAD THINGS TO FIGHT WITH.
EPIC LEVEL IS OVER
