Ok folks, we've got our results at last and now we are left with our thoughts on how people rated our character. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that this is going to be a QQ topic, but let's think for a moments. It would be wonderful if people post there reactions to the ratings and their thoughts on their own character here. Also, we can advise each other on what we would think would be interesting for characters that the authors would like to improve upon.
We just had third parties who don't know the desired futures of our characters rate them as they stand currently in the RP. After reading the ratings of Lee, Elliot, and Potato in detail I was left with one question for myself.
"How can I take the thoughts of my peers and use them to improve on my characters."
The first thing that I found personally troubling is the fact that at least two people said that Valon and Marius are basically the same person. To me I don't see much of a connection in their voice, but I can also understand where you all are coming from. There will be a point in the near future were Marius will be more on his own and I may very well take Potato's advice on the sexuality of Marius.
Valon is a whole different story. It's hard to have the most physically powerful character on a board, or in anything for that matter because things become very dull. It's actually made me very sad to say that I, for the time being, find it very hard to write Valon as a character. Things will be changing drastically in the future for Valon and all those around him but that's still a bit of a ways off. Once things happen for the King I may well be able to use him as a main character once again.
When it comes to the rest of my characters I think that I may be getting my wires crossed when writing them. Pohatu said that in the case of Aiden that he's trying to be played as a forced badass, and in GnR that is the case, but I wanted to flesh him out and if you read The Crow and the Harlot you'll see, I hope, that he's more of a smart ass. In the case of Val I couldn't agree more. The only reason that I put him in for rating was to see if I would continue on with him. I've never really played him seriously, so I'm not to upset that he got what he did. I always felt that Gideon was a rather generic character and that's why I never really played him out. I realized after his first post in Shrinking that I had no idea where I was taking him, and pretty much tossed him aside.
All in all, I think that this is a very good learning exercise. We should do this by topic too.....

Various reactions:
Why do you guys like Alpha so much? I don't get it. I mean I guess I do now, it's just weird. On the other hand, I promise there's more stuff cooking for Tanner, the Giarrettieras and Williams so please don't write them off just yet.
I'm a little surprised Loogs doesn't think Renard is complex. Well, I guess he's not complex in his motivations, so actually I understand. The form of him is so much more textured than most of my characters that that threw me off.
SV why did you rate your characters that way I have to move my eyes so much god damn. But lol at the two Gideon ratings. My fault, I know.
Alyssa and Ophelia should have done better. Antonio too, whoa boy. Lacianus also shouldn't have gotten kicked in the teeth. Biscuit. Get over it.
Conversely, there is no fucking reason Laksha should have been ranked higher than Dace and Durant. What were you guys thinking? Furthermore it is a sad sad age we live in when Tanner and the G-Bros can outperform Emily in the ratings. That's not right.
Lee on Algernon: "I honestly doubt that the other guest stars would have been of anywhere near the same quality, had Biscuit not set such an excellent precedent." That hit me. That hit really hard. You're absolutely right and I honestly want to give Algernon another point just based on that. I don't know if scaling him up to a 4 will fuck up how the experts did, though, so if it's too much trouble you don't have to. But damn it, I owe Algernon a bigger debt than I realized in my own ratings.
And, you know, thanks a whole lot to Lee for handling this mammajamma.

The thing that made Laksha come in higher was that magical energy that drives the ratings: Publicity. Because she was in RXing, Choobs knew who she was, and could rate her higher than his patent pending PRP 1. (I've been tempted to throw Dace aboard the Luxury Train Ride, but I feel it's a bit early in her career to expose her to such carrying on.)
As you well know, I like Alpha because he's kind of stuck being the straight man to the R&B alliance, and his lack of humor feels like his own passive aggressive revenge schtick which is kind of cool.
I wish more people rated Emily higher. I've been pushing her pretty hard, but she just hasn't took. (Not to mention that of all the characters in Tri, she's the only one Mr. 90 didn't revise his rating of after reading it. And Biscuit 1'd her, despite being in SWRP with her.) I'll need to shoehorn her into the next big event, because she's too unique of a character to be left languishing in a box.
I also should push Helen more. She's one of my better characters, but I've pushed her into the background too much. El's recent posts might help fix this, as will Ishk8.
There's other details to this, but I don't want to delve too in depth just yet.

I have what? 5 characters? They're all so obscure, but not all of my characters are stony, IMO, just 3/5.
I think my greatest handicap is my inability to find a place to put my characters into.

i like Beta better than Alpha. i also think it's silly that El doesn't get Julia after having a conversation with her. besides that, everyone just needs to move Ish and you will get more Mandelbrot backstory, who i'm happy to see get high praise from most people. Yeah, yeah, it was originally a Rorschach rip off, but that was only for the cotume and fancy name and two other facets that have to deal more with story telling than characterization and if I said what it was then I'd be spoiling everything. But then Brot's personality was, as Lee pointed out, based on everything that wasn't Rorschach. In fact, it's personality was based on one episode I watched of Dexter a year ago and some other movie I saw a little bit of where this serial killer guy burned the evidence of a kill every night. also, whoever said that Julia should be my new main, I think it's pretty obvious that she's already my secondary after Rie. I guess you just have to wait until I get bored of Rie and kill her. Lastly, Jimmy the Orangutan is still the best character of the RP.

Oh!
Yeah, I should mention
I did Julia's rating BEFORE we had that RP fest.
I can even re-rate her now if you want.

Julia's a great character, with a nice balance between serious and normal human reactions which is always good to see. Her work with hypnotherapy in conjunction with her overall job roll is a nice combination, and effective if the other person picks up on/is willing to co-operate with it (which can be a difficult task, I'm sure). I do feel she needs to do something more than observing things and actually get involved somewhat, but even as she is now she's still a great character who stands very well.

Pohatu's right - I passed judgment way too quickly on Lacianus. Chalk it up to old habits.
Other than that, I can't say there are any ratings I'm surprised by. My secondary characters seem to outperform my main (go figure), and those who read Lucas seemed to really enjoy him, which makes my soul go all glowy.

I think I just forgot to rerate Emily. As it stands though, I didn't find her very memorable. I remember her throwing lip gloss or something at one of the spiky dudes in Tri and that she was a little wacky but I didn't get a true sense of who she was. I felt like she was very well-written but, as a character, fell into the wings. 2
I didn't expect Mr. Castellani to be rated as well as he was. I didn't think 3 posts in an RP with as large a roster as LTR was enough to make him memorable. I guess, as always, I just need to post in more goddamn RPs.
Rance rated much as I expected. I don't think LBH has gotten enough love (because it's only gone three effing posts goddammit ninety what are you even doing with your life) because I got the idea that a lot of the ratings were based solely on Gasoline. I know one post is a bit of a stretch to redeem a character but I figured it was at least a step in the right direction. Probably not enough to sway him up a point, yes, but I was looking more in the critique section than at the points anyways.
I wish FNG had gotten underway earlier (and that oh dear sweet baby jesus why haven't i moved that forward) because I kind of dig the ideas we're having for HarĂ and co.

I'm gonna have a nice, long post in this topic tonight. But since I am at work I wanna say one thing.
I love that we do this. I really really do, I look forward to this each year because (the way I envision this in my head) it's my peers and I basically getting together and being like "Hey we're all friends, but this is the one time where we come together a rivaling colleagues and help each other out with critiques." Yeah we are rating the characters, but I take so much more out of this then that. It basically tells me all the areas I need to work on and the ones that I need to keep refining so I don't start to get sloppy. And it tells me what I am good at so I can keep playing with it and seeing if I can use it to help my not so good areas.
Also just a quick tidbit. Everyone seemed to like Jonas and think he clicks very well. I find this most interesting since everything, everything I do with Jonas feels forced. I still haven't found that grove with him that I have with a lot of my other characters. It's the little wondrous things like that which I love.
Expect a wall-o-text tonight or tomorrow night.
