Here's a two-for since it's friday and I don't want to hangover-compile these and I'll be doing hangover group work all day. THE OSCARS | CHARACTER AWARDS Best Recent Character Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Yoon | Reba | The Curator | Kitten | Renard | Mayordomo | Channery | Waylon Bell | Huckabee | Rance
Elliot: I am gonna be forced to say Yoon. The reason I say Yoon is because, out of all of the characters presented to me here, Yoon is the one who stands out the most. She's the most memorable, in my eyes, and also has had the most screen time, with a well-established voice, roll and character.
Lee: Yoon takes it handily. She's got enough fan power to beat most others, bar maybe Renard.
Pohatu: I don't wanna be an expert any more. It's too hard. Friggin', Renard? Maybe? I don't even know. This sucks.
SV: I can't not go with Renard for this one. We've got some brilliant characters nominated, but Renard's debut was just superb for me to overlook it.
And the winner is…Yoon Mangjeol! Calling yellow fever and milf hunters right now.
Best Overall Character Last year's winner: Terrian The noms: Yoshimitsu | Renard | Huckabee | Julia/Masquerade | Miko | Nopcsa | Blaise | Sly And the winner is…Julia Romanesco/Masquerade! I like to think Julia is a pretty cool thing, what with her inability to really do anything except convince herself that she's badass and is otherwise a perfectly normal person that is perfectly adjusted and integrated into society. Just to blow everyone's mind, Julia originally had five hypno-forms, but I couldn't flesh out the other ones so it never happened.
Best Personality Last year's winner: Nopcsa The noms: Ganesh | Emily | Kitten | Felix | Julia | Illiana | Yoon | Jonas | Dace | Channery | Flo | Hugh And the winner is…Jonas! I was kind of hoping that Felix or Channery would win, just so we would have three years of voting for absolute assholes, but this vote for Jonas I guess restores my faith in y'all. Assholes.
Best History Last year's winner: Yoshimitsu The noms: Sem | Jonas | Huckabee And the winner is…Huckabee! Have... have we even gotten Huckabee's history besides "lololEnglishProfessor" and "lololOldForMerc"? Not to say Huck isn't a great character, but I mean the past two winners have been Sly and Yoshi, who have pretty much built their entire career in RP.
Best Powerset Last year's winner: Yoshimitsu The noms: Sandman | The Magite System in Aleta | Helen | Channery | Esther And the winner is…The Magite System in Aleta! I don't know how magite beat everything else. I guess because anyone can use it, and people like power? Or a split vote? I mean, otherwise it's a rule based system that uses visual cues, which doesn't really work too well in text. If you guys wanted rule-based systems, go no further than Helen or Esther, who use wordplay, and that renders perfectly in a textual medium.
Best Protagonist Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Flynn | Yoshimitsu | Rie | Renard | Illiana | Natalie | Terrian And the winner is…Illiana! It was a close race between her and Renard. It's like 2010 is the year of nice characters actually being nice. We must be past our dark and edgy 80s phase or something.
Best Antagonist Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Orville Giguere | Commissioner Williams | Mandelbrot | Lucas | Cesare And the winner is…Mandelbrot! And while 2010 is the year of nice characters doing nice things, it's also the year of badass normals. I think Williams did himself wrong lately by making himself all sympathetic and shit. No one wants that in a villain.
Best Comic Character Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Kitten | Manager Miko | Terrian | Rhometer | Renard | The Curator | Cesare | Faris and Azim al-Burak And the winner is…Manager Miko!
Elliot: Okay I'll be arrogant and say The Curator. And pray I'm right.
Lee : Tough call, but I'll go with Kitten. The Homestuck RP is like Fallfish was. Very insular, but a juggernaut, since the RPers are very limited in experience. (Remember, in the days of Fallfish starting, Pohatu and Blood were like in two or three other RPs, tops.)
Pohatu: I can think of at least three people who'll probably vote for Manager Miko and only two who'll vote for the Curator, but I'm holding out for the Curator to susprise me. I choose him.
SV: For me, this award comes down to Rhometer and Faris and Azim al-Burak, characters designed for over-the-top ridiculosity (yes, ridiculosity). And, as a recurring character bringing the silly to multiple plots, Rhometer has the edge. [/blocquote] I dunno this is pretty scary and not comical at all.
Best Dramatic Character Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Kuro | Antonio | Sly | Yoon | Thyra | Julia | Huckabee | Rance And the winner is…Antonio! Antonio is all like "look at me I'm better than you" and then he shows you up while you fume over his arrogance and I guess that makes him a pretty dramatic dude. Yoon and Julia tied for a close second, but in the end the Butterfly stole this award.
Best Debut Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Renard | Sem | Waylon | Esther | Mayordomo | Reba And the winner is…Renard and Sem! Guy comes in and the first thing he does is "TELL ME WHAT TO DEU" and everyone is like yaaaaaaaaay and fun is had all around and then a mystery gets solved. I'd talk about how Sem comes in and the first thing done is explosions and fireworks, but I have no idea who this character is because I still have yet to read LaDC. I'm such a good host.
Best Development Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Zebedee | Kuro | Illiana | Williams | Yoon | Prime And the winner is…Zebedee! Oh Zebedee. You have been through a lot. From snarky self insert to pious self insert to one winged angel to I have no idea what you are now, but you're pretty cool in my book regardless.
Best Relationship Last year's winner: Natalie/Ender (as best couple) The noms: Zebedee | Kuro | Illiana | Williams | Yoon | PrimeVincent/Yoshi | Zebedee/Sly| Scar/Lucas | Renard/Everyone | Nopcsa/Prime | Cesare/Everyone | Renard/Yoon | Renard/Channery | Yoon/Mayordomo
Elliot: I can't think of the last time I saw a Zeb/Sly conversation, which is sad. Nopcsa/Prime is an interesting one, because it always dawns on me that Nopcsa doesn't think much about Prime apart from "crazy sword wielding man run away!". Renard/Everyone gets my vote, though.
Lee: Vincent/Yoshi I think that LaDC tips this JUST enough. Scar and Lucas also had a shot, but I think they've faded a bit too much from the public consciousness.
Pohatu: Vincent/Yoshi and Zebedee/Sly have a lot of exposure, but people like cheap nominees, so Renard/Everyone is also a distinct possibility. I'm going to say Zebedee/Sly has enough sway over the oldest members to take this one, though.
SV: Oh god. This one just has to be Renard and Everyone. I don't think he had a single interaction that didn't either grip me or reduce me to giggles over his painfully awkward antics.
The noms: Renard | Rho&Hig | Helen | Esther | Sandman And the winner is…Yoon/Mayordomo! Woooooo ethnic couples. Screw you experts.
Most Creative Character Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Renard | Rho&Hig | Helen | Esther | Sandman And the winner is…Esther and Helen! What is it even WITH the awards and all these TIES?? I guess the wordplay wizards can kind of count as one character, though.
Most Underworked Character Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Rhys | Testbug's entire cast | Kuro's entire cast | Vieve And the winner is…Kuro's entire cast! You heard it here, Kuro: we want you in all of us our topics.
Best Character Formspring Last year's winner: Formspring wasn't even a thing back then The noms: Yoon | Yoshimitsu And the winner is…Yoon! I mean she's an information broker. Answering questions is all she does. Also people should ask her more questions.
THE OSCARS | RPER AWARDS
Best Recent RPer Last year's winner: Cendra The noms: Tangrow | Sem | Testbug | Ninety | Biscuit | Stel
Elliot: Every fiber of my being is telling me to say Sem but his lack of posts forces me not to. Instead, I'll say Stel because I know just what a fantastic writer he is.
Lee: I'm hoping for Tangrow to win it, but I'm 90% sure that Biscuit will win.
Pohatu: It's tough that Ninety and Biscuit are in this along with the really new people. Makes it harder for everyone. I can see Biscuit sniping this one, somehow.
SV: We have had a whole lot of great new RPers in the past year, but Biscuit is the one who stands out the most to me. From his many parts in The Burgled Boullogne to his portrayal of Lucas in Ishkabbible, it's clear that this guy has some considerable talent, creativity, and versatility. Of course, now that I've written this, it'll probably be someone else who wins D:
And the winner is…Ninety! If it makes the experts feel better, Biscuit only got second because 90 voted for himself. Asshole. No, there is no such thing as confidential voting with ch00bs. Shut up.
Best Overall RPer Last year's winner: Pohatu The noms: Elliot | Lee | SV | Pohatu | ch00bs | BulbsElliot | Lee | SV | Pohatu | ch00bs | Bulbs And the winner is…Lee and Elliot! Okay, seriously, Lee has best procrastinator two years in a row, and he moves on up from Best Storyteller to Best Overall RPer. And then on the other side of that "and" we've got that hornses ass Elliot who also doesn't post in the RP nowadays. I think it's similar to gambling addiction; you never know when his posts will appear, and whenever you do, there's a massive release of built up addiction.
Best Host Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: ch00bs | Pohatu | Elliot And the winner is…Pohatu! I dunno what I'm doing up there. I just make settings and let everyone else fill it up with characters. I guess that makes me a good host since I don't really get in anyone's way? But Pohatu is voted a much better one because he does get in everyone's way? How does it work, man? Magnets, that's how.
Best Participant Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Biscuit | Pohatu | Ninety | SV And the winner is…Biscuit! The man of a thousand characters. He admits to playing nothing but NPCs in RPs, and we are all perfectly 0k with that attitude if it brings us the likes of Waylon Bell. The most impressive thing about it is that they pretty much all have distinct narrative voices. Crazy.
Best Characterizer Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Elliot | Pohatu | Lee | ch00bs | Ninety | Prime | Bulbs | Biscuit | SV And the winner is…Pohatu and ch00bs! Arg ties arg arg arg.
Best Cast Last year's winner: ch00bs The noms: Bulbs | Lee | ch00bs | Pohatu
Elliot: I'm gonna say Pohatu due to the diversity of his cast. Lee comes in close, but some of his characters tend to overlap a bit too much when compared to Pohatu's cast.
Lee: Pohatu, hands down. He's got the awesome on par with Choobs and myself, and he actually exposes them decently.
Pohatu: I'll cry if I don't win this. It's probably going to Choobs though.
SV: Yet another tough award, considering how many excellent casts there are out there. But, with Pohatu so vehemently opposed to winning RP awards (and understandably so – we already know he's good) and Lee being a similar cop-out...I think I'll have to go with choobs for this year's award. Love you, Bulbs, but choobs's Julia/Masquerade tipped the scales for me.
And the winner is…Pohatu! It's okay Pohatu, you can stop crying, you won. I think it's safe to say that 2010 was my archetype year. Oh well. My Aleta cast is mostly male.
Most Underworked RPer Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Clicker | Testbug | Tangrow | Loogs | Ninety | Lee | Stel
Elliot: I'll say... Ninety.
Lee: I'm going with Lee. I'm guessing to few people bothered actually reading the description to vote correctly.
Pohatu: Hard call. Newest kids probably don't know who Clicker is, older kids might not know who Househeld participants are. Stupidity has a way of prevailing and so there's a great risk that Lee could win this, but I'll have faith once again and put my money on... Tangrow.
SV: Going to have to go with Clicker on this one. She was around routinely enough to make a good impression on us and a bunch of connections with a bunch of different characters, and now you just can't find her anywhere. Come back, Clicker! We miss you!
And the winner is…Ninety! 90 go post in the RP. You're as bad as Lee.
Most Improved RPer Last year's winner: Blood The noms: Kevin | Prime | Elliot And the winner is…Prime! I think we are all pretty excited about his new character concepts since they don't have giant azure swords and azure energy. Really, I guess it's all uphill from there, though. Kevin might have been able to put up a fight if he was still around.
Most Creative RPer Last year's winner: Award not present The noms: Tangrow | Loogs | Lee | Pohatu | Prime | ch00bs | SV And the winner is…Pohatu! Ishkabibble's complex narrative. Boullogne's suggestion mechanic. Esther Damrosch's name (i don't care about her power whatever). Yep. Pohatu is a pretty creative guy. Eh does wacky things and doesn't afraid of anything.
Professor Exodus Leaderboard Elliot: 6 Pohatu: 5 Lee: 4 SV: 3

It wouldn't be a boon to your cred at all to post in Househeld where people will eventually depend on you for survival, so I guess maybe you shouldn't ever do that?
Also, Huckabee's backstory was outlined in his bio post.
And HELL YEAH YOON/MAYORDOMO. What was THAT. Darkhorse win of the year, right there!

The final stretchhhhhhhh THE NOBELS Random Just-for-the-Hell-of-Nominating Award Last year's winner: Yellow Skittle The noms: Kuroboom | Kyuutipie | Niji
Elliot: Oh man I want Kyuutipie to win. I'll say Niji though.
Lee: Niji wins. I didn't get the point of the meme, but I know Loogs, Ninety, Biscuit, and Choobs, at the very least, will vote it.
Pohatu: This is a tricky pair! Because everyone is going to vote Kuroboom for one of these things (except Kuroboom himself, who will vote for other people). But I don't think anyone will feel comfortable voting him for both. So where is he going to win? Rather than hazard missing both of these, I'll just guess Kuroboom for both, and wait to see which one I was correct in.
SV: Kuroboom. Because I felt like it.
And the winner is…Niji! This is some moebius double reacharound bullshit to get a collective award in again. We really need to stop this. Niji really needs to stop this.
Lifetime Achievement Award Last year's winner: Kuroboom The noms: DL | SV | Kuro | Lee | Pohatu
Elliot: For this one, I'm saying... Pohatu.
Lee: DL will win, I think.
SV: I'm pretty sure I've heard that some people are pretty impressed by DL this year, hitting new DL-y highs and generally being a pretty swell guy. All I have to say to that is, point DL.
And the winner is…Dragon Lord! Congratulations DL on getting this award. Or well, I would congratulate you if you ever posted. We here at Exodus really love encouraging our lurkers.
Professor Exodus Last year's winner: ch00bs The noms: DL | SV | Kuro | Lee | Pohatu
Elliot: Pohatu again.
Lee: Nafutahop takes it forever and always. Actually, SV if she responds in time. Otherwise, Pohatu.
Pohatu: Lee has a tendency to overthink things, SV takes too generous a view of the community, and I'm always biased in favor of myself. So I pick Elliot, even though he wasn't a judge last year. Something tells me he'll probably turn out to have an intuition for this.
SV: Me, maybe? That would be cool. I don't remember this award existing. Bluh. It'll probably be Pohatu.
And the winner is…Elliot! And the final count is Elliot with 7 points, Lee with 6, Pohatu with five (and then six after correctly getting Professor Exodus right), and SV with four. This is terrible. You couldn't even get worse if you were all Boxbot.
Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes the fantastic, if a bit tardy, 2010 Lugiasian Awards! It's been a fun 2010, with an influx of great new members and the propogation of MSPA. We saw a heavy RP year, and while there were naysayers about the other awards, it seems we had enough fluff and drivel to fill most of them up. Thank you all for coming, and thanks for putting up with the hiccups and experiments of this award season. And finally, here's to a 2011 that's twice as exciting as 2010! Peace motherfuckers. VROOOM

I lurk, therefore I win.
As for posting, if something interested me I would post. The problem is that once I post the topic will die. Also, my RPs are either closed, waiting on other people to post, or I'm so out of touch that it's painful.
Thank you all, goodnight!

Why is there Best Powerset twice up there? :S
All in all, I think we came out a wee bit too Pohatu/Ninety heavy this year (or at least, too heavily skewed towards them on awards that would fit better for others, and too low on certain awards that better fit 'em), but that's mostly personal opinion.
As for those of you who are saying "What has DL done?" Do you guys like, only read the Homestuck forum or something? He's done Stray Dogs. He started his own RP. He was all over PRP. In Crystal, he's started making Valon truly interesting for the first time in years. He stepped in to pinch hit for the Naruto RP. And that's all just off the top of my head. This year is the first in a while where DL's really stepped it up, and I'm ashamed of those of you that were too insular to actually pick up on it. This year was for DL what 2009 was for Choobs and Elliot: A step back into the light of awesome. (If the pattern holds, that means that 2011 will be chock FULL of DL awesomeness.)

Of course, really, the thing I failed to account for is that Biscuit/Ninety/Choobeh don't exactly have an wide ranging consumption of RPs. Whereas I read everything that isn't the wolf RP and Past Whitefall (No offense intended Blood, just have trouble slogging through your partner in PW, and the Wolf RP is too staccato for me to continuously monitor), most people do only read a small subset of threads.
It's a shame, because the strength of the Exodus comes from the breadth of styles and genres we draw from. If you limit yourself to "Only low power, only ORP", or "Only Homestuck", or "Only things that involve long-time RP characters", you miss out on the beauty that the whole spectrum brings.
Now, mind you, I'm not accusing these people of overly biasing the votes for the most part (I'm not sure if Ninety really counts as a new RPer, since I thought he started back in 2009, but that's different.), but it seems that unless you actively jam a character into the faces of certain members, they don't even have an inkling of who they are. (And no, this isn't bitterness on my end. I knew I'd do poorly in the awards, since I haven't been keeping up on RP in the past two months. I just wish that people would be more ecclectic in their reading behaviors as a whole.)

Also, Stray Dogs feels like it was done like a billion years ago. And everyone involved in it disappeared.
