Opening a drawer would be retarded. I'd be stuck fighting zombies with either a PS1 or kippered snacks.
Now, on top of my counter, I've got a solid steel ten inch spike. Not a great ZOMBIE weapon, considering proximity, but provided that the rules are "Only bites infect", it's more than enough to put me on equal footing with one. Sadly, I live in a basement, but on the bright side, there's a three tier balcony that goes WAAAY high up. So most likely, I'd distract the zombies with a packet of hotdogs or the like, and then break for the balcony. It's got three tiers of stairs, so unless there's flying mutant zombies, I'm safe.
Also I'm near a hospital, so zombies near here should be even more pitiful than normal (albeit in slightly greater quantities).
All in all, in a full fledged swarming invasion, I give myself about a 40% survival chance. In a widely dispersed, Shaun of the Dead style thing? Almost a 100%, since I can certainly trick a few of them.

Only shotguns and rifles though. No handguns.

I'd rather not be bothered with this whole 'aiming' thing and vaporize heads at range with double-ought buckshot anyway. You've seen me shoot handguns, Ninety. I'll stick with my over-under.

I'm pretty good with handguns anywhere inside 20 meters or so, past 40 I'm not so great with em... Rifles are a piece of cake though, they just click with me. Shame I don't much like them, I imagine an assault rifle would be fun.

Handguns have their use though. They'll still drop a zombie and they're much easier to carry than a rifle.
Now I want to start planning my zombie survival fortress...

I would weld together a sheetmetal box with a sliding bar methanism closing door. No windows, just a small vent slit you can't see through, but lets light through, so you know when its daytime. Could run power to it easily enough too.
Some sliding steel windows to take out any zombs that gather around. Long term, dig a large moat and fill it with acid and sheer sides so they can't get out, and a raising drawbridge over on section. After thats finished plan for your eventual complete overrun, by previously prepating a hot air balloon on top of your fortress.

Actually, after I said that I started designing a zombie fortress for Minecraft. But, I can't really play that all that much right now, so it doesn't do me much good.
Also, I'd need a mod that would make the zombies an actual threat. Otherwise I make a two block high wall of gravel and I'm safe.

This is actually somn I do at JCC though. The scenario is that we have 3 days to ransack the all the stores in town and then fortify ourselves at JCC.
Usually we're either in the dorms (the tallest, roomiest buildings), the Library (which has some pretty easy roof access, and a lot of books, but nothn else going for it) or the new science building (which is a lot smaller than the other buildings, but has solar panels and other "green" improvements).
I always push for the science building because it has the solar panels and there usually aren't many of us in this group. With supplies from Home Depot we can easily erect a pretty durable wall that would prevent zombies from entering the building, plus barricades for the windows and doors. The solar panels could be used to power various different things and possibly make certain supplies last longer.
The only real problem I can think of is that we don't have enough room to keep all the supplies we could have (we're talking about a Walmart, Sam's Club, and Wegman's which are all close together. Plus a dozen fast food places and convenience stores). If anything, we'd be severely limited by that.

I'd take the library building. The place is a maze of stairs, and we can agree that most any zombies, even the fast ones, have stair issues. And there's a ton of space, and an important politician there too. So we can store plenty of goodies and assume priority from the rescue teams, if there are any.

I don't like it just because of all the windows it has on the first floor. True there are several flights of stairs there that would cause zombie hordes endless grief, they'd still get past them. Then again with a good sized group of people and supplies from Home Depot and (to a lesser extent) Value, you'd be able to dig yourselves in pretty darn well.

Well... When we're talking zombies, what style zombies are we talking? Are these L4D zombies that are weak individually, but run fast as hell and swarm very quickly? Are they RE zombies that are slow as hell, but if they grab hold of you, you're most likely bitten? Are they I Am Legend zombies that still retain some intelligence? Are they realistic zombies where after a few weeks in the sun, they start to degenerate, lose flesh, and fall apart? Or maybe we can push this a little and talk 28 Weeks/Months Later infected that are 300% physically, but have a very simple mindset of "infect and nom nom nom on everything"?
Edit: Does anyone wanna host a zombie survival RP?
