I threw the onions + spam + MUSHROOMS into the skillet and made myself a wrap. It was pretty good.

So I've tried making yellow rice twice so far, since my mom gave me some saffron, and both times i failed.
The first time it didn't come out yellow (but at least it tasted good!), and the second time it didn't come out flavorful (but at least it was yellow!).
Some day I'll get this right.

Next time make a yellow batch and a flavourful batch and mix them together.

So, Friday night my girlfriend and I had a wonderful plan to go out and eat at Olive Garden then go see Alice in Wonderland 3D. We decided to get the tickets early. Both my cards were declined. She teased me and swiped her card, Declined! So we were standing there and realized we had no money and had to re-plan our date. We went back to my place and since I didn't have much this is what we had to work with.
A cup and a half of rice (uncooked) A can of Manwich A box of spaghetti noodles A jar of crunchy peanut butter A bottle of buffalo wing sauce A container of ranch And my wonderful cabinet of spices.
So here are the options I presented her with -
1. Cook the rice then add the manwich (which would be warmed in a sauce pan with a few spices added)
2. Cook the rice then had several heaping spoonfuls of crunch peanut butter and some chili powder. (Have made this before and it is delicious)
3. Cook the rice and then add the buffalo wing sauce and some ranch. (Have also made this before, typically though with tortillas)
4. Cook the spaghetti noddles then add the manwich (which would be warmed in a sauce pan with a few spices added).
5. Cook the noodles then several heaping spoonfuls of the crunchy peanut butter and some chili powder (my friend has done this and said it tastes better and has a better consistency than the rice mixture of the same ingredients. I have yet to try)
6. Cook the rice then add the manwich, the buffalo sauce, and some ranch.
7. Cook the noodles then add the manwich, the buffalo sauce, and some ranch.
She opted for option 4, the noodles and manwich. It wasn't bad and I ate the left overs the next day. If you feel like making it yourself, don't view it as spaghetti, I found that helped. Drink a glass of milk with it or pepsi/coke.
What I need to know is if (with what I had) I presented her with the correct options or if I missed some or if you guys would have chosen diff. What do you think?

I made some really old, hard, refrigerated rice into a tasty ramen soup just now.
1. Fry leftover spam in bottom of pot in olive oil (the olive oil makes it healthy) on medium high heat 2. throw water into pot and crank up heat to high to bring it to a boil 3. throw ramen flavor packet in. throw old rice in. I also threw in spinach and mushrooms. 4. let the rice absorb the water and let the veggies cook 5. turn down to medium heat and beat an egg into the soup.
tada you have a very thick soup that would've been great yesterday when i had the worst stomach hangover ever but is now just pretty tasty. Dunno what to do with the ramen noodles, though.

Ok! So I have an assignment for tomorrow to bring in photographs of some "story." So I decided to waterloggedComputron my way through making dinner tonight while taking pictures! So this way if anyone is looking for dinner suggestions, they might possibly find a recipe hidden amongst the crazed improvisation. So I had some tomatoes in the fridge and didn't know what to do with them, so i had the bright idea of putting them in some olive oil, which i saw in Spain once. I real quick looked up a marinade recipe on the internets, and it all called for fresh ingredients, so I decided I should probably cook it after if it didn't taste any good. Also, I could use the flavored olive oil for the cooking of everything else. If you're wondering, the marinade is one crushed clove of garlic (put through a garlic crusher), some squirts of lemon juice, a dash of rock salt, a couple twists of pepper, and a bloop of olive oil. I didn't measure any of it, but I just threw it in a bowl and mixed it all together, making sure to crush the garlic more before dripping it on top of the tomatoes, which were cut into wedges and put in a saucer. Refrigerated the saucer after that. Next up, the flavoring that would go into the pasta. Went really simple, like I usually do for basically everything, and just cut up some onions and mushrooms. I skipped cutting another clove of garlic because the olive oil I would be using would be from the tomatoes, which already had garlic. Gg universe. So after the cutting, I grabbed one of our conveniently large skillets (somehow we have 3, and they're all the same size, which makes no sense to me) and started the heating. Took the tomatoes out of the refrigerator and tried one. It was pretty good, but I wanted to see what would happen if I sauteed them. So I left two in the bowl and decided the rest would get tossed in the skillet. As the skillet heated, I took some of the olive oil mixture from the tomato saucer and dribbled it on the cooking surface. I totally misjudged, though, cuz the garlic started frying and the lemon juice started sizzling, which was totally not intended, but I was fine with it. That just meant I needed to throw the onions in immediately since the pan was hot enough. The chicken was cut up into pieces, against my better judgment because I'm used to cooking the breast whole. While the onions browned, I started laying the tomatoes in the pan, then tossed the chicken in. This is probably not good practice, but I mean I figure my pan is big enough that everything can just be cooked in its own separate place on the pan. Didn't cook all the tomatoes at once, though, since they were fragile and I wanted to make sure they had space. Also, no, I didn't use all the olive oil in the saucer. That's a shit ton of oil. It's just that with food photography, everything looks greasier. Anyway, after the chicken was on its way to being cooked, i tossed the mushrooms in. Mushrooms are pretty wacky because they absorb so much moisture, including your cooking oil. So yeah, like I said about the chicken, I cut it against my better judgment and ended up overcooking them. Mushrooms and onions cooked pretty quick, too, so I removed them and put them at the bottom of my eating saucer since browned onions and mushrooms look terrible on food. At this point, I realized that i completely forgot to boil the pasta, so in a fit of quick thinking, I put some water in a pot, set the stove on high, then put more water in our water heater for tea since it heats that stuff up fast. Mixed them together after the heater came to a boil, tossed the spinach pasta in, and took the chicken out of the other pan. Then finished the rest of the tomatoes. Blah blah blah, pasta done, strained, layered on top of the mushrooms/onions and realizing I didn't make enough. Then arranged the tomatoes and chicken. Overall, it took me about 5 minutes to eat, compared to however long it took to cook, which was substantially longer. I don't really keep track of time when cooking. I just work the food until I think it's about done. (tested by sight, then if questionable, cut into it.) Ta-da. The wC/ch00b way of getting through dinner.

I got dragged to Cheddar's for dinner tonight. Ate lots of tasty tasty broccoli and some of my tilapia with mango salsa. Lots of leftover tilapia! This pleases me. Too bad I just washed all my dishes and won't want to dirty anymore for a while.

Cheddar's is dope. It was the first place I ever had a Monte Cristo and made me wondered why I didn't fry more of my sandwiches.

I'd never heard of it either till I came to Cookeville. Their food is delicious and they've got a lot of really affordable options. It's one of my favorite restaurants.

This is the first time I've made ramen by doing anything other than boiling the noodles and tossing in the seasoning packet. I boiled 2 beef bouillon cubes in ~4 cups of water and tossed in some mushrooms. I let those cook for a bit before I added 2 packages of the noodles and cracked 2 eggs over the top. The eggs broke over the noodles so I just stirred them in and let them cook for 3 or 4 minutes before I tossed in a bunch of chopped green onions and one of those red pepper packets that comes with delivery pizza. I salted it a little when it was done. I did two packs of noodle because one usually doesn't fill me up. I forgot that I was going to be adding eggs and all that to it. I have some leftovers. So much better than the old method.

This is something my Mom would always make, if she had leftover spaghetti from the night before.
Spaghetti Eggs Garlic Powder Salt Pepper
Make spaghetti noodles until tender (I'm assuming you all know how to do this). Strain the noodles, and prepare a skillet with butter and throw the noodles into the skillet with a medium heat. Depending on how much spaghetti you have cooked, throw in an egg or two (whole package 2 eggs, and half package 1 egg.) Season with Garlic Powder, a tiny bit of salt, and pepper to taste. Cook until egg is done and desired fried texture, and eat.

i like how my idea of a "quick meal" is feta bruschetta, pesto spinach-pasta, and a hot dog.
the hot dog is key.
