OOC: Ok, so I was telling Blood about how I wanted something different. So here it is. A roleplay from the point of view of a wolf. No powers or anything. PM me with your character information and once you're approved you can join =) Also, if you have any questions just PM me BIC:Myrze sprinted through the forest, her long, dark legs extended to full stride. Smoke filled her lungs, making her cough, and the sweltering heat had nearly become unbearable. But still she ran, muscles pumping and adrenaline rushing through her veins. Screaming and shouting echoed from behind her. The crackling of flames and their searing heat chased her. Images flashed through her mind: The ravished corpse of a human. A pack of two-legs carrying fire and weapons, yelling. The alphas, dead. Shaking her head to clear the images, she carried on, refocusing her amber eyes on the clearing in the trees. At last she reached the Clear Creek and made a hasty crossing. This marked the border between the Goldenwind and Palefeather territories, the former being her own homeland and pack name. Myrze did not know if any of her other packmates had escaped or not; she could be the last of the Goldenwind pack. This thought made her shudder; the life she had known for the past two and a half years was indubitably gone. Upon reaching the other side of the creek, her aching muscles seemed to protest further movement, and the exhausted she-wolf trotted over to a fallen pine, sniffing it out carefully then crawling below the needley branches. Her mud hued sides heaved, tongue lolling, as she worked to catch her breath. Despite the natural endurance of a wolf, a flight of sheer panic could only last so long. However, even in this fatigued state at least her ears were alert. The dark brown auds were flicking cautiously at the slightest noise. Myrze had to know whether she was alone in here or not. An intruder could be friend or foe, and rapt attention was imperative. Yet as the sun creeped above the horizon, light gliding through the early summer forest, Myrze found it increasingly difficult to maintain wakefulness. Slowly her aureate eyes fell closed and she drifted into a dreamless sleep. ~ Image:quizfarm.com/images/1136193571brownwolf.jpg

Kortova continued following the scent. Something was burning, but he couldn't tell what. As he approached the creek that marked border of Palefeather territory, a new scent assailed him. The scent of an intruder. He followed the new scent down the creek until he found a fallen pine and the bitch that intruded upon Palefeather territory.
It took him a moment, but he recognized the wolf that lay unconscious before him. Though he did not know her name, he knew he had seen her and that she was a member of the Goldenwind pack. He nudged her once and, when that failed to gain a response, he stepped forcefully down on her paw and growled. He then backed slightly into the shadows, knowing that they matched his black fur and would make him appear larger and more intimidating when he questioned her.

Myrze felt soft pressure on her shoulder, but didn't stir. It wasn't until pain shot through her paw and a growl echoed through her ears that she snapped awake. Startled, she leapt to her feet and scooted backwards, hackles rising and fangs bared. Her own throat rippled with a snarl, yellow eyes narrowing. However, her own effort was marred when she couldn't help but cough, the fire having taken its toll.
It was then that she caught the scent of the shadowy figure before her; he was a member of the Palefeather pack. Myrze lowered her ears and tail, and let her lips cover her teeth. She wasn't sure if she should wait for the male to speak or apologize right away. After a second of consideration, Myrze opted for the latter seeing as she was on his turf.
"I'm sorry for the intrusion, sir," she started, "but the humans have set fire to my pack's territory. I hoped neither they nor the fire would pursue this far. I can leave, if you don't want me on your territory." She dipped her head politely and waited for the male's reply.

Midnight rose her sensitive nose in the air and sniffed.
"Smells like smoke." She said as she turned her head to look over to the red dancing hills. Flames seemed to lick the sky with it's deadly glow.
"Over north huh. Well, I'll just wait here until it stops. No sence going into the danger with no immediate need." She sighed as she layed down to watch the fire burn out. "Though, it would be best to go and check for survivors once things have cooled down a bit."

Mist quietly continued stalking the unusual-looking dark, almost black furred wolf. He had been trailing him for a couple of days now after coming across him, mostly due to not being sure on what to do. Mist knew he was out of place during this season, as the only thing that blended into the environment were the tips of his ears, area surrounding his left eye, his front right paw, and a spot on his left side, near the underbelly. Parts of him were white, but most of him was patches of varying shades of light gray. The only thing he had going for him was that he learned to stay quiet under all conditions. Suddenly, he saw the wolf he was stalking stop. "Huh?" he thought to himself. He couldn't quite see what was going on, so he quietly crouched, while still keeping an eye on the other wolf. After all, he must have known what he was doing....right? OOC: Sorry for the late edit. I realized that I had accidentally used the same description for Shroud and Mist and had to fix that since they were not twins (albeit are related)

Humans! I should have known! Kortova snarled in disgust before questioning the Goldwind wolf.
"What is your name, Goldwind, and what were the humans doing in your territory?" He asked, trying to keep his snarl hidden. There were few reasons that humans typically entered a wolf pack's territory, none of which could be good in this instance.
What if they are coming this way? What if my pack is next? If the humans were declaring war then there was only one option they could take if they wanted to avoid eradication. Flight. It wasn't an option the Alpha would be willing to take. In truth, Kortova hated the idea. The idea of a wolf pack willingly giving up it's territory to anyone was unnatural. Worse, it was cowardly. But it was still worth suggesting.

The she-wolf raised her head, looking at the male as he spoke. "I am Myrze," she replied. "And as for the humans, they were in my territory because one of their number has been killed. I do not know who or what has done it, but the humans found the corpse and attacked us." It was not in the nature of a wolf to attack a human; wild animals feared the two-legs. I wish I knew what sort of creature is to blame. One of my own pack? Or another? A bear? She considered these possibilities, the worry in her head hidden by a calm gaze.
"And what is your name?" she wondered, looking at the dark male before her. He did not seem overtly angry by her presence on his turf, but still she was polite and cautious. Her ears were perked forward with interest, but her tail was low with submission; a clear sign she did not want to be seen as a threat.
Myrze wondered what he was thinking about. It seemed pretty obvious: her, the fire, the humans, perhaps things that he needed to be doing. Yet the bitch was young and curious. Besides that, she did not know if she would be allowed to stay on Palefeather territory or be forced to leave, struck out as a loner. The idea of the latter consequence frightened her, and she suppressed a shudder. Her whole life she had been in the Goldenwind pack, and her place in the world seemed secure. Life as a loner was undesirable and unnatural to a wolf.

After intently watching the black wolf, Mist decided to lay down not too far behind and simply wait.
He wondered what was going on around and why everything was on fire. He wasn't particularly old, but he was smart enough to know better than to mess with the two-legged creatures, especially with their contraption that can kill you while not being anywhere close.
Yet... This was going on and while it wasn't winter, he knew that this fire wasn't natural. Suddenly, he interrupted his own thought and he thought about food; something he hasn't had in a day or two. And that something made his stomach growl.
SHIT! Curled up tightly to try to avoid waking up the dark wolf with his hunger. This is going to be a long wait...

He sniffed the air, but was still only able to smell Myrze and the smoke that she had fled from. At the very least it meant that the humans were far enough away that they wouldn't be an immediate threat to his pack.
"My name is Kortova. Myrze, you will me into your territory. We must find out if these humans are still nearby. Then you shall follow me back to my Alpha and you will tell him everything that happened to your pack and everything that has happened to you since the attack."
He walked to the creek and waited for Myrze, his tail held stiffly behind him. The idea of hunting for humans struck him as suicidal, but it was necessary. With any luck they would be long gone. If not, then he hoped that they could at least warn his pack without bringing the humans back to them.

Midnight opened her eyes and blinked. "I must have dozed off," She said yawning. She looked over at the forest where the fire had been.
"Might as well start going, I'm still a bit aways. There's still light out, so I won't blend in for awhile." She mumbled as she go to her feet and looked around. Midnight trotted down the small hill she had been on and walked slowly as she scanned the area. Her ears perked at the sound of something and she spun around quickly! As her eyes landed on what had set her off, she relaxed at the sight of a hare.
"Alright food! I'm starved," She yelped. Suddenly the hare bolted, "Oops I must of scared it. Oh well!" She said mischievously as she ran after it.
The hare zigzagged and hopped it's best to escape. Midnight followed leaping herself. At the last leap, however, the hare dashed into one of it's many holes and escaped.
"Aw, I thought I had that one! Co-... Where am I?" Midnight said interrupting herself and looking around. The land was unfamiliar to her and she couldn't find a scent she recognized.

Myrze nodded to Kortova and followed him to the creek. Several feet away from him, she bent to drink, keeping an eye and ear on the male whilst her other senses kept track of her surroundings. The cool water cascading down her parched throat came as an immense relief. Though she wished to drink more, Myrze was aware of the task before her and pulled her muzzle from the stream.
Then, slowly, she stepped into the refreshing water. Although the young bitch could leap the stream, she chose to wade through it, cooling her sore pads and settling her jumping nerves. Finished with this business at last, Myrze loped up the opposite bank and lead Kortova toward the scene of the incident.
Although the journey took longer at this more relaxed pace, Myrze felt that the time lapsed rather quickly. But by the time the pair was close enough to smell the stale stench of the humans, the sun was on the horizon. This was good news for the wolves, with an advantage over the sight-reliant bi-peds in the dark. It was evident that the people had departed a while ago, the scent trails leading away from Kortova's territory.
The little brown wolf turned her amber eyes upon her dark hued traveling companion. "This," she said softly, "this is where we were resting when we heard them ambling toward us, and smelled their sweaty hides. Just before the stench of the flames ripped through our noses. About five miles further south is where the corpse was." By the end of the statement, her voice was barely a whisper. With a shudder, Myzre turned to gaze out over the blackened forest with anguished but hopeful eyes.

OOC: Sorry for the huge delay between posts. Didn't mean to delay everyone THIS much.
BIC: Suddenly, Mist jolted awake. He had realized that he had dosed off while watching the dark wolf. Ugh... Not again And with that, he slowly hopped to his feet and looked around cautiously. After seeing how there seemed to be nothing around, he looked around in a search of tracks. As he found them, he noticed that his almost purely white underbelly had become very dirty from the dirt on the ground. Ugh... I'm really not used to this environment... Then he cautiously proceeded to follow the tracks that had been left. After all, he had to do something...right?

"But what would cause them to burn the forest?" Kortova wondered a loud. Humans tended to value the forest almost as much as wolves. There were times when they were seen hunting animals, other times they would patrol the forest.
Usually wolves avoided humans. Usually. But something had killed the one human, and they had retaliated against the Goldwind pack.
Kortova sniffed the air again, this time smelling something new. Was it another pack of humans coming to check for survivors? Or perhaps members of Myrze's pack who had survived? Secretly he hoped so. If not, the humans need not check, Myrze would die of starvation soon enough.

Myrze shook her head at the dark male's question. "I don't know why they did it," she sighed, walking in a small circle to examine the charred remains of the little clearing. "If they wanted revenge for their dead member, they surely would have done better than to burn the whole forest away."
The little brown wolf was just about to paw through some of the ashes when she noticed Kortova scenting the air. She raised her own nose to the wind to do the same, and nearly leaped from her pelt in joy at the familiar smell. As much as she was tempted to bolt straight for the source, she kept herself in check.
"It is my brother," she told Kortova, "I don't know how he survived but he must have!" Yet even as she spoke the words, she realized that even this could be a trap of the humans. "How are we to find out of this is a trick or not?" She wanted nothing more than to be with the rest of her pack then, but even in her youth was she aware of the dangers that befell an impulsive wolf.

Midnight looked around and whined. She started walking around aimlessly, this soon lead he to a forest black from a fire. "Well this is a relief, right where I was headed for." She said, then continued walking in cautiously.
Looking around she couldn't find anything and thought this had been a waste of time, then she started picking up scents. "Wonder what that is?" She asked herself, then headed towards the smell.

Not long after going after the other wolf, he had lost the tracks as the wind had shifted most of the ash around, making them forever hide what they had shown even not-so-long ago.
Terrific. Losing the trail I was following...just what I've always wanted to do
He kept on moving in the general direction regardless, but he had no idea if he was actually going to find anyone...or anything. Then he heard voices.

"I do not know. But we must find out." replied Kortova.
He began trotting towards the scent when he began to smell something new.
"There are more coming" he began, turning his head back to face Myrze. "Are they of your pack as well?
The truth was that they did not smell like Myrze at all. Smoke had assailed him for far too long, but now even worse smells began to fill his nostrils. With any luck the wind would change and carry it elsewhere. If not, they'd have to head elsewhere.
*OOC: Guys, it's time to start bringing this together. Your next post or so should start your wolves towards us.

Myrze too had begun to notice a new scent creeping toward her and Kortova on the wind. It was faint, but she recognized the distinct odor of wolf. Another sniff of the thick, smokey air confirmed her fears; these wolves were not from her pack. Instinctively, her hackles began to rise, an uneasy feeling creeping over her.
"I do not recognize these wolves," she breathed, suppressing a whimper. This had been one long day, and it was wearing on her nerves. "I think one of them is that way," she indicated with a flick of her ears and a tip of her nose in the direction. "Do we confront them or flee?"

"This is your territory. You need to decide whether or not to defend it, or to flee from them." Kortova replied. Truth be told, he was curious about who this new wolf was. Perhaps things would start to clear out of this smokey air.

Mist cautiously moved closer to the voices and then suddenly froze after he realized that they were talking about him. At first he considered trying to hide, but then he thought about how despite his coat not being a pale white like it used to be, he still had no chance of hiding from a human eye, much less a wolf's.
So he did the only thing he could do, which was walk towards the voices until the two wolves came into view and out loud, he said, "You two are the first animals larger than a hare that I've seen in at least a moon's turn."

Midnight kept walking and then heard another wolf. She flinched and stepped back when she heard what the wolf said. She decided to go further anyway and continued to walk. Soon she found her self out in the open in front of three other wolves, one had his back turned to her. She went into a submissive pose feeling scared of the other wolves.
She whimpered a little and then said something slowly, "It has been three moon's turns for me." She stayed in that submissive state and waited for a reply, unsure of what would happen, though she did not dare move.

Myrze shifted uncomfortably as first the large male, then the cowering female, appeared from the charred and damaged forest. Even a wolf as young and inexperienced as Myrze could see that the female did not intend to pose a threat, but the large white male made her nervous. This may be her pack's territory, but the lanky yearling couldn't defend it against stronger and more experienced canids. Her strength came from her pack, and now they were gone.
"Um, hello," she started, then stood up taller with her chocolate fur slightly fluffed up in an attempt to seem a little bigger and tougher. "What are you doing here?" she inquired as her gaze slid between the two intruders. It was neither a challenge nor a threat, but it had enough solidity in it to show them that this place was hers.

"Who are you, what are you doing here?" demanded Kortova. He growled lowly, then prepared. Hopefully a fight wouldn't ensue.
"This place is not yours."
