Magnus! Raya! "Uaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!" THUMP! Magnus hit the ground hard, and it took him a moment to get his barings. "What the hell?" He muttered, he seemed to have fallen into a gigantic lab below the plains just outside of Viridain. Damn it was unusual to him, most of the technology was slightly blue and definatly alien. He saw a cylindrical object on a shelf that was shining brightly and catching his eye in a quite magnificent way. He reached up and grabbed it, though nothing appeared to happen. "Hmmmm." He said, turning it over. It had "Psion Guyver Protype White" Written boldly on it, though he didn't have a clue what that meant. Looking back on the shelf, he saw something else even more interesting. A black book, and it was black indeed. It seemed to be sucking in the light around it, and giving off darkness. He looked more closely at it. "Necronomicron." "Holy shit!" He yelled, stepping closer. "This is the real deal!" He inched a little closer, then noticed a caption below it. "Caution Needed, Magical items tend to take on a life of they're very own. -Sly" Magnus looked at it a moment, then shrugged, he didn't want to touch the thing anyways. He stepped forwards, then tripped over one of the random pieces of tech left on the floor. The Guyver prototype thing flew out of his hand, and smashed right through the glass case surrounding the book, and was quickly absorbed into the necronomicron, which began to shine violet. "What?" Magnus said, reaching up to shield his face. The light subsided, and when he looked again, he saw a girl, who looked to be about 14, standing in front of him, stark naked. "Ummmm." Magnus said, then quickly looked away. "I'm sorry!" He yelled uncomfortably. "Hi!" She piped up. "My name is Raya!" She said brightly, "Whats your name?" She asked. "Uh, my name is Magnus. Its good to meet you." He said, then pulled off his jacket, and passed it to the girl, who put it on obidiently. "Thank you Master." She said. "Master-? For what? And why are you calling me master?" He asked quickly. "Well, you created me didn't you? Through our ressonance, I was borne." She answered, "Is there a problem with me addressing you as Master?" She asked. "Yeah, actually. If you don't mind, just call me Magnus. I'm nobodies master." He said. She looked thoughtful for a while, then nodded. "So, uh...." Magnus pondered for a moment, "What are you then?" He asked, trying not to be unkind. "Oh!" She said, then looked thoughtful. "Well, before I was just grimoire, but now I'm armor as well!" She answered. "Sooooo," Magnus said, "What do you mean by that?" The girl blinked, then grinned. "I guess I'll show you!" She said, then quickly approached him. "Wait- What-?" He said, backing away. She quickly cornered him, placing her hand over his head. "For first in two thousand years, I do make this pact with a fledgling sorcerer, granting him all my power and form for as long as he exists." She said, then kissed him. "Mmmmmmmmmm!" He said, then there was a flash of light, and she was gone. "What?" He said, then he noticed his body was kind of heavy. He looked down, him legs and waist were covered with thick armor, his four arms and hands as well. His chest and head were bare though, he was glad, he didn't think he'd have been able to lift all of it, but then again, this skin tight, airodynamic armor seemed to be infusing him with strength and power. And voice spoke in his head. "See?" Raya asked. "What!" Magnus said in a bit of a panic. "What is this? Your in my head?" He asked, panicked greatly. "No, no silly. This is a fusion, I AM you." She said, and he could indeed feel her smiling in his mind. "Ok just stop for a second and explain this step by step..." He said, then the laboratorys security systems activated. "Intruder, magical power source detected, proceeding with eradication." A unknown voice said. Hatches opened in the ceiling, and two humanoid robots dropped down. About ten feet tall, they had the old TR logo on they're shoulders. Missile pods opened on they're shoulders. "Oh shit." Magnus said, they fired. Raya directed his attention to six blade finds on his back, three on each side atatched to the armor. "You can move them" She said. Magnus instinctively used his power to stretch and extend them. He wrapped them around himself, and the missiles impacted and exploded outside of them. Amazingly, he didn't feel a thing. "This is the power of the Raic Armor!" Raya proclaimed, then giggled, proud of herself for thinking up the name on the spot. "You like it?" She asked. Magnus thought for a moment, then shrugged, grinning. "Yeah, its kinda catchy. What to do about those robots though?" "Act on your instinct, I've already given you the knowledge." Raya said. Magnus nodded sharply, searching himself. He stepped forwards, and the magic propelled him across the room, he reversed direction behind the robots, speeding back. The blades from his waist shot out, like swords extending for each side, and cut them to pieces. "First security force, inefficient. Deploying level five suited security force." A computerized voice said. Six more mechs dropped from the ceiling, these partially organic. Worse, they seemed to be harnessing spirit animals for power. "Oh crap..." Magnus said, "What now?" He asked. "Running would be a good idea actually." Raya said.

Another day, another failure, another fact. Abatis sighed, and hung his head slightly. He had heard rumors about an old TR armory containing all manner of magical and scientific weaponry, stuff that was easily on par with today's cream of the crop. In his line of work, finding any magical artifact more inspired than flying shoes was a major boon. According to the grapevine, this armory was a fairly unparalelled ammount of treasure, almost as great as that of some of the most ruthless private collectors. He began heading north, towards the terminal edge of town. Beyond there was only woods, and that was what he wanted. Privacy for practicing spells and divinations.
Out of the corner of his eye, something caught his attention. A pit, and judging from the shadows within, no more than twenty feet deep. He approached it cautiously, wanting to ensure it wasn't just a sinkhole. He prepared to grab his spear, but paused when he noted a glimmer like metal being swung about. It WAS something of significance, and there WAS a battle. Jumping down from the edge, Abatis let the fall carry him, rolling protectively. He then sprung to one knee, grabbing his spear from where it had fallen.
"Radiant!" He proclaimed in a loud voice, light exploding from his spear. The former murkiness of the underground was dispelled, leaving him standing in the center of a now lit room. There were six armored beings, one smaller than the others and apparently frightened. Presumably the five were the agressors. His right hand flew to his belt, and he produced a small orange disk. He extended his right hand before him.
"The serpent's thirst goes unquenched, crying out for the blood of the living! All, cursed and blameless, quench its hunger lest it devour the entirety of creation!" Abatis incanted, and as soon as he finished, one of the larger armored beings simply detonated. There was no fire, no heat. Its body just simply inverted on itself, splattering the room in gore.
Now, with the Eye of Basilisk drawn, he could easily tell what he was dealing with. The small one had a distinct aura, feeling slightly of evil but mostly just of untapped power. He'd deal with him later. As for the big ones, each one seemed to by only partially alive. Cybernetic construction or somesuch. Their magical auras hinted towards paganistic, voodooesque tones. Probably some kind of channeling or summoning magic. He would give them the time to bring it to bear.
He swung his left arm, meeting the plating of another armored monstrosity. His spear's tip sliced through it, trailing dancing lights as it tore the beast in half. Abatis noted with satisfaction that his attack had barely been a grazing blow.
"As for you, whatever you are in that corner. I'd like an explanation before I dispatch the others." Abatis ducked a swing from one that had closed the distance on him.

Sly looked frustratingly around his lab with his stalk-eyes as he continued to pound away on his keyboard. Small irregularities had begun to emerge in the programming of the AI that monitored the security of his lab. Sometimes the irregular lines of code would make perfect sense and he would speculate on who could have possibly improved upon his work; in other instances though the code was complete gibberish. The worse part was whoever had been tampering with it had somehow managed to lock Sly out of this portion of the computer system.
His frustration turned to anger when one of his emergency lights began flickering. The speed in which it flickered and the color it had taken on was unfamiliar to him at first, it had been so long since this one had been activated. It took a moment for it to register Sly’s eyes grew wide when he finally realized what it meant – someone had broken into a TR base. But the color was slightly off, it wasn’t just any base it was the Headquarters, Viridian HQ. He counted how many times it flickered in a four second span and knew that the perpetrators location was the lab.
The oddities in his AI program would have to wait for now. Sly slung his pack onto his back and pulled his shredder from it holster. He made sure its fuel cells were charged and then spun a dial on his watch. He popped into existence between the two trespassers and the slowly advancing Automated Defense Force. Sly pointed the shredder in the direction of the two men and raised his tail-blade high and slightly in front of him so he could quickly strike at either of them is need be.
<Initiate Protocol Alpha Minor!> Slys thought-speech rang out causing the ADFs to halt behind him. <On my command initiate Protocol Delta Major.>
Sly’s stalk-eyes surveyed the area around him as he stared at the two men with his main eyes. Already he saw that two items were missing – the guyver prototype that Matt had been working on towards the end of the War and the Necronomicron that Sly himself had discovered during a raid on the Rebel Headquarters. The glare on his face intensified.
<Who are you and why are you here?>

"Uuuuuh." Magnus said, in response to both of the beings questioning him. He slowly pointed at the hole in the ceiling. "I fell..." He said, attempting a small smile. He met with failure, however. "Ok, so. I feel down here, I saw something shiny. I was stupid and picked it up. Nothing happened, cool. Then I tripped and it touched THE genuine, origional copy of the Necronomicron! Which then turned into a little girl, following which she fused with me and turned into this armor. Oh, and she's been chittering away in my head this whole time." He said quickly, "Also, I'd just like to say I've done a lot of magical research on my own, and the Necronomicron is neither evil, nor a book of necromancy as everyone thinks. It's called the 'Book of the Dead' because the many hundreds of minds who wrote it left all of they're knowledge within it, and they're very dead at this point. That obscure refference turned into a legend and then a myth and then it became the Necronomicron. And while it DOES contain necromancy, it has pretty much everything about blue magic, and white magic, and black magic. Oh, and I'm not evil." He took a further two steps back. "So, no killing me ok?"

"And I'm Abatis. Humble seeker of the mysterious and wonderful. And I jumped in a hole for the heck of it, and ended up here. Does that explain my presence well enough?" Abatis watched Sly through his mystic eye. With his increased reflexes, if he tried to attack Sly, he might get through, but more likely it would just be self sacrificial. He'd be best off going with diplomacy until the situation calmed down a little.

Sly kept his Shredder pointed at the two men and continued to look them over. With his free hand he reached into his bag and pulled out a small hand held device. His tail snaked through the air and he used the tip of the tail-blade to type out a few commands. A small holographic video played over the device, it was the surveillance recordings. The video confirmed that the two men were telling the truth, but still Sly was weary of them.
<It doesn’t matter what the books purpose or original intention might have been> Sly said to Magnus with a crossed look on his face. <Two many with ill intentions have come across that book for it not to have become tainted. My advice to you is to destroy what you have created.>
Sly then turned his attention to Abatis, <So basically you’re a scavenger?> The Andalite was not using any of the usual etiquette he would had he met these men under different circumstances. One was fused to a potentially dangerous artifact and the other was a complete mystery and that fact that it was here, in a TR base, worried Sly that maybe one of his old comrades had decided to try and restart the faction he once held allegiance to.

There was a sharp flash of light, and suddenly a girl not much younger than Magnus was standing behind his arm, which was thrown out to protect her. "I don't know what manner of magic you've encountered before." Magnus said, "But I don't think I can be cruel enough to end a life so shortly after it was born." He shook his head, stepping in front of her. "However, if you really believe it was such a grave error, you can shoot me instead, just leave her alone." He said, with a steely expression on his face. Though his legs and the sweat on his hands gave away the terror he was hiding. Raya hid herself more fully behind Magnus, one hand on his waist and the other behind her back. A faint, white spark was glowing over her hand, the beginnings of a shield spell, unbeknownst to anyone else present. She didn't want to die, but she didn't want Magnus to die either, not after she'd just met him, and what he'd done, if only by accident.

"Don't bust out the amunition on account of me. I may be a seeker, but I'm no thief. If I was to see something I wanted, I would make you a valid offer. However, seeing as how the boy absorbed the only thing worth my notice in here, I think that I'll abstain from trying to make a purchase. Consider me a spectator, if that would at all be of aid." Abatis said with a smile, trying to disarm the trio's feeling of unease.

Sly looked at the girl with disgust. For a long time he was discriminate toward magic’s creations and in recent years he had finally grown to accept magic and its usefulness. Despite that he still felt that a combining magic and technology was a wholly perverse act in the natural world. He had seen too many times the disastrous effects that it incurred upon the subjects and users. His stalk-eye strayed momentarily on the security droids behind him; the very scientists who had first suggested the idea of crossing magic with technology. Now they were merely byproducts of an abandoned science.
The Andalite took a deep breath in through his nose slits and once again used the tip of his tail blade to punch a few buttons. Electricity flooded through the basses power system as the lights turned on in the lab revealing it to be much more expansive that it had previously had appeared. All around were empty shelves and discarded scraps. Sly lowered his shredder but he didn’t put back in its holster.
<I’ve already destroyed most everything in this lab. Most of it was weapons of war that would be potentially dangerous in the hands of normal humans and disastrous in the hands of the abnormal. Some objects I found couldn’t be destroyed by normal means so I hoped that by burying the base underground I could hide those artifacts forever.> Sly shuffled through yellowing paper and dug out a dog-eared report. <This was my colleagues report, a rather brilliant young psychic named Matt. He was the one who created the prototype that fused with book. His goal was to create a super suit capable of near infinite potential.>
<Using my technology he was able to develop a psychic interface that would allow the suit to function based on the same electrical impulses that controlled the muscles of the body. Instead of the suit being dependant on the body it became part of the body, but he failed to see the effects of such a system on a race of beings so underdeveloped in use of the mind. The subconscious thoughts would take over and essentially the subject would be come a slave to the suit, unable to control it.>
Sly pushed the report towards Magnus, whether he would take it or not Sly didn’t know. <The book was used by Patra Sep to raise most of his army during the war. He pushed into the bounds of darkness farther than any mortal before him had. The book may have been created with the best of intentions but Patra essence could very well have tainted it. I will leave you to decide.>

Magnus shrugged, "Fusing with her was a very strange experience. I honestly can't say that I want to do it again and-OUCH!" Magnus said, wincing sharply. Raya had just kicked him in the shin, and she had a sulky expression on her face. Then she turned and looked at the andalite, straight in the eye. "So your saying that if a child's father was evil, and the child himself were completely innocent of having done anything on his own, you'd kill him as well?" She asked bluntly. Magnus looked surprised, then shrugged, thinking she had a fair point. But magic didn't run well through the usual paths of logic, and if this 'Sly' was determined to set himself against the combination of magic and technology, then no doubt those simple would not change his mind.
"Look, I've heard your advice. But I honestly can't kill her, and I won't allow her to be killed through absence of action. And I don't have anything to do here either, I'm not interested in any of the weapons or items. If you don't mind, I'd just like to leave." Magnus said, then amended himself. "With her, just so we're clear. I'm not going anywhere if I have to leave her behind. In that case, you can kill us both and be completely done with it." He turned around and looked at Raya carefully, "Would ya mind not kicking me in the future? Its hurts." He said, sticking out his tongue.

"Well, I can see where the 'man' is coming from." Abatis said, pausing for a moment. He kept the eye levelled, wondering if Sly recognized it from the battle in Olivine. "Magic tends to hang around for quite a while. If there was darkness in it, it may not be apparent in the present, but may slowly come to taint you, unless you take special precautions." Abatis nodded towards the black band on his right wrist.
"Humans are not DESIGNED to handle such immense ammounts of power. They burn out, or become warped, and gradually destroy themselves. To utilize dark or tainted magic, and retain your humanity, you must sacrifice your human body, changing it permanently."

"I'm afraid that's already happened." Raya said, stepping forwards. She looked at Magnus apologetically. "After we fused, a little of myself was left inside of Magnus for eternity, and the same in kind. Essentially, we've both been changed to be compatible only with each other. He would be quite helpless if I were to leave him however." She said, then glanced at him with a look of adoration. "I don't really want to however." She smiled, then shook her head and looked back at the blue horse. "In any case, whatever he decides to do with me, that's whats going to happen. Even if he does decide to kill me. However, neither of us know you, and while we can listen to your words, you have no right to preach to us when intentions have already been made clear, and accusations have been settled."
"I have no intention of causing anyone harm." Magnus said, looking slightly troubled. He didn't feel any different, but he had no reason to distrust Raya's words. "Nor do I have any intention of destroying a life, magical or otherwise. But I don't have any intention of keeping her as a pet either. I don't mean to ignore her free will, so I'll do the best I can, but in any case." He said, "Could you just direct us to the damn exit? I want no part of this place any longer."

Sly knew stubbornness well; it was one of the few traits that both humans and andalites shared. <Your analogy would only work if it were correct. A more suitable one would be to say that a man uses a gun to shoot someone. The bullet is not evil but the end result is death.> Sly had a feeling that the analogy would fall upon deaf ears but he hoped maybe it would get through to the kid. <You may use the same way you came in.> Sly beckoned towards the hole in the roof.
Sly turned his attention back to Abatis he was about to tell him he could use the same way out when he noticed the eye. All four of his eyes widened in realization of what it was. His tail-blade was pressed across Abatis’s throat and shredder drawn pointed at Magnus once more. <Where did you get that?>
OOC- Back in the day Sly would have just killed them both at the very beginning…. I miss the old day lol

Magnus sighed, tensing at the sudden renewal of hostilities. "Well, I'll say this at least. Humans eat meat, and it is often equipment of death which preserves our lives. Also, bullets aren't alive. She is." He sighed. "Thats enough." Raya said, stepping fowards. Her hands glowed white, and very brightly. She grabbed onto Magnus hand. "For the record Mr Blue Horse person, white magic is contained within me as well. He will ultimately be the one who choses whether to cast fire or heal thousands. If your truly so determined that I not be used, you should've destroyed me while I was still a book." Raya said, then Magnus and Raya both disappeared in a quite sudden flash of light.
***
Magnus caught Raya as she fell to the ground, just after they'd appeared suddenly in the middle of a forest. "Are you alright?" Magnus asked, concerned. "I'm fine..." Raya said unsteadily, "But the power of my life is, by its nature, very low. I can't use magic like that often without exhausting myself, and Teleport is a fairly powerful white magic spell. I just need to rest..." She trailed off, and lost conciousness. "Dammit." Magnus said, picking her up and trying to get his bearings. He looked around him carefully, and, to his relief, he could just barely see the hole he'd fallen down earlier, about three hundred meters away. Having attained his direction, he started walking towards his house, leaving the two aggressors, or lecterors, whichever, to they're own business.

"Where did I get that?" Abatis smiled, fully understanding the nature of Sly's distress. Basilisk had been an incredible threat that had pretty much singlehandedly dealt with Cherrygrove's champions in the day, and had commited a considerable number of atrocities.
"You could just say that I'm more resource efficient than most people are. More in the 'know'. When somebody starts trying to achieve ultimate power, I pay attention. Don't want to get caught off guard." Abatis said, looking straight into Sly's main eyes.
"I usually just lurk, let them do what they will. You and your friends can take care of the tough part. Me? I just scavenge. And the Basilisk incident happened to fall right into my lap. I had been preparing magicks to try and break down the remains of some lesser devils left over from Pandora's invasion years ago, but I chanced upon the remains of that retch. Needless to say, he made some excellent materials." Abatis grinned coldly.
"You've seen what this eye can do. Or at least, should I say, can try to do." Abatis focused, a burst of wind that he conjured blowing his hair out of his eyes. "I think that Basilisk wasted his talents on sadism. But such is the case with most demons. If they simply were more pragmatic, the forces of good wouldn't stand a chance."
"And my credo is practicality above all else."
