So, the May portion of the contest was a flop. As such there is a change to the prizes. Since there is no winner for last month, the 25 points that would have been given out are now being added to the grand prize. So that means –
June Winner – 25 EP
July Winner – 25 EP
and
Grand Prize Winner – 75 additional EP
SV and DL are both Judges along with me again. They didn’t get to Judge anything last month.
Now the Rules for June!
You have from now till the 25th of June. To write a story based on the criteria below. There is a bit of leeway since you really have till I wake up on the 26th to get your submissions in, but the sooner the better.
Now the Criteria for this month!
1. May have no more than four characters, but there is no minimum.
2. Must reference something that is lost.
3. One of the characters must have a unique ability. (I really liked this one so I am bringing it back since it didn’t get used)
4. Must include a coffee cup at some point in your story.
5. One of the characters must be named after a historical or mythological figure.
6. At some point the internet must either be used or at least referenced.
7. You must include fire in your story without saying the word fire.
8. Must take place in either Fall or Winter.
9. A paper clip must be used at some point in the story, but in an unconventional way.
What’s this? Only nine criteria? Yep. Because of so many complaints about the word count, and because I am pretty sure that’s what killed the first month, I have removed the tenth item from the list. So, no limit on size, though please be reasonable. We don’t want any one or two pagers and we definitely don’t want a novel.
To submit a story, just post here with the following - the story itself, the word count, and a short explanation for how you met each criterion. It should look something like this.
The only thing that should go in the topic is finished short story submissions. There is a second for discussion.
Now get writing!!!
