A clear night sky was the worst thing in the world to Gideon. The glittering stars and the lucid moon were enough to make him want to cry. All they were was a reminder of what he couldn’t have, where he couldn’t go, and how he couldn’t be who he truly was. It was only on nights like these that Gideon was such a wreck. Most often then not he was a fiercely loyal, calm, collect individual but when the lustrous glow of the moon was visible something deep in him changed. A deep longing welled up in his heart and thoughts of home were the only ones that existed.
“Mother, Father, Sisters…I’ll find a way home to you someday I swear it. I won’t let you be dishonored any more that you already have. And Nadia…I’ll return to your loving embrace if it’s the last thing that I ever do…I vow on my life that I will.” Gideon stated to himself in the cold blackness.
Soon the night sky became too much and Gideon had to get indoors. He was staying near a small mountain town by the name of Ookami Haimu. The town was named by a group of Japanese travelers who settled the area and felt that the name was rather fitting for the area. Not much had changed over the years besides the people that lived there. More and more people began moving to the area to enjoy the seclusion and solitude, thus turning the two home community into a brilliant small town. Gideon enjoyed the small town feel and the fact that most people didn’t ask questions. Even if he was posed a question he hardly had any answers that he could give freely.
The chilling night wind wafted around Gideon like a blanket of frost but the chill didn’t seem to affect him, besides maybe freezing some mist in his silvery-gray hair. His clothing was slightly warm, but nothing that would do any good against the chill of this night. Gideon wore a complex jacket with a tri-color design. The base of the jacket was a black vest like area with a strip of white running down the button line along with white sleeves. The cuffs of the jacket and the collar were black and quite thick. Across the top of the chest was a black strap that ran from shoulder to shoulder that added a sense of style. Along the sleeves, cuffs, collar, strap, and base of the jacket was a red piping that added accent and a bit of an imposing look to it. Besides this complex jacket his clothing was simple, consisting of a pair of black jeans, a red t-shirt, and a pair of black boots.
Gideon entered town after a short time and began towards the social part of town. It may have only been a small grouping of inns, taverns, and restaurants but it was the most visited area of town. Gideon decided that he would venture to a small restaurant that he hadn’t visited yet. Actually, this was the first restaurant that he had visited ever. His entire life was spent eating whatever he happened to earn from doing odd jobs around the town or whatever his family had prepared. The thought struck a painful nerve which caused Gideon to pause at the door of the restaurant. He had to take a few deep breaths before he was able to enter, but as he opened the door Gideon entered into a whole new world.
Dim, smoky light flashed out at Gideon’s pale blue eyes like some casino gambling floor. People were sat everywhere eating various food items that smelt simply wonderful. Gideon’s stomach growled like an angry wolf at the intoxicating smell, nearly sending him into a feeding frenzy. At the door he was met by a cute, young waitress who wordlessly guided him to an empty table in the middle of the room. Gideon sat down and began to drink in the atmosphere. Old farming equipment and paintings of field scenes and wildlife adorned the walls. Most of the wait staff was younger and all were quite attractive, while the cook staff seemed to consist of all older more experienced practitioners of the culinary arts. The place was warm and inviting, just the type of place that Gideon needed on this night. The waitress pulled out a pad of paper and a pen, smiled sweetly, and began to work her craft.
“What can I get for you this evening sir?” she asked in a voice so sweet that it made Gideon’s teeth hurt.
“I’ll have a glass of water with no ice and the biggest steak that you have, rare.” Gideon answered without missing a beat.
“That comes with a potato dish sir, what can I get for you?”
“None please.”
“Are you sure sir? We can prepare it any way that you like.”
“I’m sure thank you. The steak will be fine.”
“Alright, we’ll get that up for you in just a moment.” The waitress smiled sweetly once again and began off towards the kitchen.
Gideon sat at his table in silence waiting for his meal to arrive. Everything seemed to be fine. No one besides his waitress had spoken to him and nothing was reminding him of what he so horribly wanted. Everything was fine, or was it? From the other side of the room came a pair of slightly drunk and very annoying men. One was barely five foot tall while the other was just above six foot. Both of them seemed to be looking for a fight, exactly what Gideon didn’t want.
“What are you doing here boy? We ain’t never seen you around here before.” The taller drunk man mumbled.
“I’m getting a meal and nothing more.” Gideon calmly replied.
“Well we don’t like your kind around here. You better leave now or you’re going to be leavin’ in a body bag.”
“I suggest that you leave me alone, for you own well being.”
“Was that a threat boy? Do I need to beat your ass down?”
“I said leave me alone!” Gideon said with great force as his eyes turned a solid bright blue and shone with a deep seated rage like that of an animal.
“Whoa there boy. I didn’t mean it…We’ll leave you alone. Just calm down.” The short drunk man said as he and his partner ran from the building in a state of shock.
Gideon smiled weakly at the fact that the men were scared away but at the same time was ashamed of what was beginning to come up from deep within him. It was something that he didn’t want to come out around people, but was nearly impossible to control. Just as the thought crossed his mind, Gideon’s food arrived. With a quick nod to the waitress and a deep grunt, Gideon began to scarf down the large piece of bright pink meat. In a manner of minutes the slab of meat was gone Gideon was very content. Now that his hunger was taken care of Gideon could head out and find somewhere warm to sleep, but a conversation caught his attention.
“So I head that someone found a cave outside of town with carvings in the walls that look like claw marks in patterns. They say that there is actually English carvings in there too talking about some sort of key found in the cave that will open the door to some other dimension and some planet called Apatros. Doesn’t that sound like some kind of bad movie promotion?” said one man.
“Yeah, sounds like it’s going to be a horrible movie too. I can’t believe that some company would make some fake cave to promote their crappy film. Why can’t they just do TV adds like they used to.” The mans female companion replied.
‘Apatros?! This is to good to be true. I’ve got to find this cave and quickly” Gideon thought as he dropped a wad of money on the table and exited the building quickly.
“Alright, they said outside of down, so that must mean that it will be towards the north. The rock faces there contain a lot of caves. Nadia, I’ll find the key and get home to you no matter what.” Gideon said as he began at a run towards the north, and the cave with the key to Apatros was his goal.
OOC-Just thought that I would make a new character and a new topic to go on with him. Hope you all enjoy.
