The investigates left the ram shackled house, closing the door behind them, shutting out the cries of a grieving mother. "That's the seventh one now, when do you think he is going to quit?" "I don't know... maybe its not even the same person?" "It has to be, the kidnappings have been to systematic to be different people." "This guy is a monster, and that's a sure thing. The city is in major trouble, and people are starting to panic." "Yes, I've noticed. Higher authorities are now getting involved. I over heard in the break room that some evidence has suggested the kidnapper has set his base of operations in those cursed ruins just south of here. However, everyone I talked to, is to afraid to even consider going in there. I also heard that the mayor has issued a notice, that the city is hiring mercenaries, and he is going to lead a team of them into the ruins, and try to take out who ever, or whatever this thing is." Just then the investigators passed by a light pole, on which a slightly tattered piece of paper loosely hung. One of the investigators pulled the paper off the pole, and spread it tight for him and his partner to read. "Wow, they are really serious about this. I knew most people would be afraid, but I didn't realize that the mayor would be this desperate." "It's a very dangerous place, I wouldn't be surprised if all of them were found dead. You couldn't get me in there, even for that much." Both investigators looked down at the paper one more time, before letting it blow away in the light wind, it read: HELP OUT YOUR CITY! STRONG WILLED AND EQUIPPED INDIVIDUALS WANTED EXPEDITION INTO THE HOMANTU RUINS FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE COME TO THE CITY MEETING ON JUNE 29 MEMBERS PARTICIPATING IN THE EXPEDITION WILL RECEIVE A REWARD OF $10000! "BLAAAAAARGH"
Charles fell off the barstool with a loud "CRASH", apparently he had forgotten quite how much he had drank and how that would affect his relation to gravity... not that it affected it any, just that he forgot it existed for the time being. He pulled himself up off the floors to the jeers and laughs of his fellow drunkards, he wiped his knees off and chuckled himself
"Yeah, you all laurgh now, but Ey'll be showin' ya who'll be laurghin' later..." He whispered in his normal Scottish Accent
Charles held his arms up and waved to everyone, hiding his anger with a face of congeniality and a smile that made women hot and bothered. Slowly, his gathered his posture together and half-walked, half-stumbled out of the bar as professionally as he could. He stopped for a second to open the door, the knobbish-devil refused to turn in his hands, or maybe his hands had actually just turned to jello, either way he couldn't budge the bugger open until finally the door was ripped of it's hinges in an epic splintering of wood and hinges! Charles fell through the now gaping hole where the door used to be, and with all the grace of a dead-drunk, fell flat onto his face and entered into a peaceful sleep *20 Minutes Later* Charles' beauty sleep was interrupted by a rattling noise, not unlike that of a large, venomous snake... or a piece of paper, both were viable options of what was on his face, but he took it as the latter. He thrashed madly like a Cow bound to a tree, trying to grasp for the object that was on his face with hands that were about as useful as wet rope! After about a minute of struggling and multiple glares from passers-by, Charles managed to grab the offending object from his face and brought it within view of his glazed-over eyes
"Uh... Explorin' A Temple... Meeting June 29th... Mayor... $10000? Holy snooker! This'll gimme enuff cash ta git tha' really nifty shirt ah seen at tha' expensive sho' tha' ah saw da udder day!"
Charles slowly lifted himself to his feet and continued to stare at the paper, the paper that would give him enough money to buy that nifty mauve shirt he saw! He hugged the paper like a man hugged his son and began stumbling in the direction of City Hall... sure, he'd be early, but he could probably get away with sleeping in front of it as long as he looked important

Yasuko stood atop one of the many buildings in the city, her sleek black hair and long trench coat flapping in the wind. Her eyes darted around, watching people that were out this late, drunks walking home, people working nights, others driving in their automobiles.
Her eyes locked onto a piece of paper, the wind carrying it up to where she was, Yasuko grabbed it from the air, scanning it quickly, gleaming the information from it. This ruin exploration, as she had found out from the poster, would give her something to do and with the promise of money that would just make the whole thing sweeter.
Yasuko leapt from the building, falling gracefully to the floor and landing softly on the hard pavement, before setting off to where she would find out more of this exploration.
OOC - Blegh, and blegh again. Not too good of a post, but gotta get back into the swing of things. Sorry for the absense, I've been very busy as of late and have not had time to even turn the computer on.

BAM! BAM! BAM! Went the sound of the gavel, as the mayor repeatedly smashed it on his podium, in a futile attempt to quiet down the roughty crowd. What could he expect from a bunch of mercenaries and low lifes just looking to make a quick buck. The mayor looked around the room, and saw roughly thirty individuals sitting around, some looking much more competent and intimidating than others. A few of them made the mayor almost want to wet his pants, while others looked as if they had just walked out of a bar.
"You all know why you have been summoned here, but, I'm sure, only vaguely. As many of you have probably heard there have been several disappearances lately, seven, to be exact. Just recently, we received an anonymous tip that the kidnapper has established his base of operations in the ruins just south of here. Also, as many of you know, those ruins are cursed... heavily. It is rumored that, whom ever enters never returns...*Bum Bum Bummmmmm (other dramatic music)* So for the safety and well being of our fine city, I have decided to take it upon myself, and overcome these rumors and fears, and venture into those ruins. Obviously, you have all chosen the same fate. Now personally, I do not believe in these myths, and I'm sure there is just some nut job living in there, and he would be no match for all of us, there is, safety in numbers, as I always say. Now as all of you know, you will receive your ten thousand dollar reward upon returning from our venture. I will need all of you to sign these forms, stating if any misfortune did happen to befall you, it is not the cities problem, nor responsibility, and your family, if you have any, will not be compensated in any way. Any of you wishing to not sign these, or have reconsidered, may leave now."
A man sitting to the far left of the mayor, wearing a black trench coat, hat, and boots, stood up and removed from inside his briefcase a stack of papers. Walking around the room, he passed a paper to each of the people still present in the room.
"Now, after you all sign that and pass them back to me, I will speak with you each individually in that room over there."
The mayor pointed to a door just right of himself.
"I will ask each of you a series of questions, for example, how is your physical health? What sort of skills do you bring to the table, and do you have any... special... "diseases" I should know about?" Upon saying the last bit of his speech, the mayor put a hint on his speech, knowing whom ever really had what he was asking about would understand what he meant.
"After your interview is complete, you may leave the facility, and head home to prepare yourself. I suggest you all get a good nights sleep. We will meet out side the ruins at eleven PM tomorrow evening, so we can hopefully catch the kidnapper off guard and hopefully sleeping. Make sure you come prepared for anything. I don't think we will meet much resistance, but that does not mean we should let our guard down. The last thing this city needs is a massacre. Now please bring up your forms and hand them to mister Dante over there, and then line up in front of the door, and I will take you in one at a time. Thank you."
The mayor stepped off his podium and walked into the room, where he silently sat, contemplating a game plan and waiting for his first interviewee. He dearly hoped in his heart he had attracted some of those "diseased" people, for he knew, with out them, the party would surely not succeed. Although he didn't want to accept it, the danger waiting in those ruins was much more than he alone could handle.

OOC: Huhuh. Feudal != futile.
"Did someone say ruins? CURSED ruins? I LOVE cursed ruins!" someone exclaimed as the double door flew open with a loud crash. Walking across the door's threshold was an oddly skinny man with a long, narrow face, a somewhat-long, crooked nose, and a green overcoat. His skin was pale, but he was still smiling like a small child at the thought of exploring some cursed ruins.
After a moment of awkward silence, the man passing out papers apprehensively gave Nick a sheet. The man quickly signed it and handed it back.

Yasuko stood in the middle of the crowd taking the last of the speech in while she filled in her form. The diseases bit interested it probably would include her but it was of little matter to her.
She pushed her way through the crowd stopping to wait outside the room that was mentioned for the interview, she wanted to get it over and done with as soon as possible.

Nick tapped his foot impatiently while waiting in line. "When are we gonna get to the ruins. I'm bored here," he said to no one in particular.
"Dunno," the guy in front of him responded. He clearly did not understand that some people liked to think aloud. "But it seems the mayor left us all here to rot. Hey, you think this is some sort of trap to lure us unsavory types to kill us all?"
"Uhuh."
"What?!?" the man exclaimed. He than proceeded to run to the door, shoving it open and letting it bang on the wall outside.
