OOC: Anyone needing background info, look at TCGPlayer's ORP forum, and search for threads made by me; they should make clear what's going on here. Timeline's gonna make for a bit of a plot hole -- too bad.
BIC: Joseph Halzed knelt behind a rock, peering over a ridge at the building housing the laboratory that had once been his. Now, it was occupied by General Tactitus and his troops. For two months now, the general had been ransacking the lab, attempting to decode the data from Joseph's computers, or to access the few prototypes Joseph had been forced to leave behind when he had first been forced out of the place that was rightfully his.
About time someone took that general down a peg, thought Joseph. But how? The place was crawling with guards, inside and out. Joseph didn't have any allies to turn to, at least none he actually had any way to contact. There was no chance of Joseph accomplishing anything on his own. It seemed... so hopeless. Joseph shook his head. Last time, I was at least able to do some serious damage before I got out -- there has to be a way to actually get him out of there this time. Besides, if he gets his dirty hands on my prototypes...

Saturos put his feet up on the table at the coffee shop, a scalding hot cup of coffee in his left hand, his other hand resting on the arm of the chair he was sat in. He was drawing a bit of attention without even doing anything, but he wasn't surprised about that, nor did he really care. His appearence was normal enough, his light aqua hair styled with a side-parting, his fring falling over his eye. His eyes were normal sized, but they were somehow... different. Slightly curved up slightly, giving him a permanently annoyed look. His jaw was set, much like a person's jaw is set when they are annoyed. He had the aura of someone not to be messed with.
Saturos sipped his coffee, apparently oblivious to its heat. He wasn't oblivious, however, to the fact that about half a dozen people had moved away from him. He had a hunch that the blade resting at his waist had scared a few of them away. However, he wouldn't abandon his blade. It had been with him through everything. When he felt the world spiralling out of control, he had felt the blade in his hand, and that had got him through it all. A staff member approached him. He could smell that she was afraid of him. "Excuse me, sir," she said, her voice a bit feeble. "But you are scaring the other customers. We have to ask you to leave."
Saturos didn't react at first. Then, he took another sip of coffee, and stood up. "Here," he said, offering the cup to the girl. She stared at him blankly as she took it, and he walked off. Moments later, the girl screamed and threw the cup, her hand bright red. Saturos smirked as he started his motorbike up and bolted from the city, taking the roads that lead away from civilisation.
It wasn't long before he found life, however. A single person, apparently... spying? Saturos brought his motorbike to a halt and climbed from it, moving over to sit beside this person. "Looks like you're up to no good," he said coldly.

"Depends on your definition of good." Ods muttered from behind the duo. He slunk out from his hiding spot, fedora slung low enough on his brow to hide his eyes, and a trenchcoat masking his figure. Small leather gloves covered his hands to view.
"I suppose that you have something important to do, no?" Ods raised his fedora just high enough to reveal a blindfold covering his eyes.

Steven had a job to do he just didn’t know how to do it. The job was a simple one assassinate some scientist quickly and quietly. He had gathered information on this individual but still no really idea of what the man looked like. So he decided to go by instinct and search around. Oddly enough on his search he came across a group of odd individuals. he walked up to the blue haired and asked” excuse me sir have you seen any laboratories or anything of the sort around here.”

"The building down there was a laboratory," replied Joseph. "My laboratory, to be precise. A couple of months ago, a certain general decided he wanted certain pieces of my research, whether I was willing to give them to him or not. I refused. He took it to the courts and lost, so he decided to try to force me to give up the data. I was forced to flee the laboratory, though I did manage to encrypt my data in the process, and keep him from gaining access to the prototypes I was keeping in the lab.
"Fast forward to about a month ago. I, and a number of other friendly souls, decided to attempt to retake the lab. I was able to get inside, and do some damage, but I was forced out again. I've been hoping to find a way to finally force Tactitus out of my laboratory, but he's got the place crawling with guards. At the very least, I need to get those prototypes -- it's a matter of sheer luck that he hasn't gotten his hands on them yet. If he does, well... I shudder to think what he could do with them.
"Well, that's the situation in a nutshell. Oh, almost forgot -- my name is Joseph Halzed. And you are?"

"Open your eyes, dolt," Saturos said to this Steven person, "and have a look past the end of your nose."
Saturos turned away. He could see that the next few hours, if he remained in the company of these people, would be extremely painful. Already, he'd been found three people, one of which seemed intensely annoying, one of which was a spy and the last was too mysterious for Saturos's tolerance. He sighed openly, then listened to Joseph's monologue.
"You seem to be too smart for your own good. Or maybe not smart enough," Saturos commented coldly. "Did it not occur to invent some kind of cloaking device? Or is that still beyond your... capabilities?" Saturos was openly challenging, almost mocking Joseph's abilities. Saturos was not a nice guy. But as a fighter, he was one of the best allies someone could have, if they could get past his dislike of other people.
"My name is Saturos, and I'll rip through anybody who gets between you and your lab."

"Thanks... I think," said Joseph. "If you must know, one of the prototypes IS a cloaking device. The reason it's not in use is because Tactitus would have detected it by now. It does keep anyone from seeing the cloaked object, but it requires a large amount of power. Enough that it could be detected that way, and would have by now. Besides, it's very limited in how large of an object it can cloak. I was working on it when Tactitus launched his first assault on the lab.
"Now, as for the rest of you -- " Joseph indicated his other two 'visitors' -- "I'm still waiting. Who are you, and what are your intentions?"

“Umm Steven Voltaire, nice to meet you, I’m kinda looking for someone. Either way I’m willing to help, I’ve got nothing better to do." He adjusted the collar of his trench coat; it was beginning to bother him. "So what’s the plan Joseph?”

"The name is Ods. Or at least, supposedly, my name is Ods. It may be Mary Lou for all that I'm willing to disclose." Ods extended a gloved hand, smiling vaguely. "I'm just here to sate my curiosity. I want to know everything that's going on around here, and elsewhere, too. Since this seemed like peculiar circumstances, it naturally drew my attention."

"Very well," said Joseph, stifling a giggle at Ods' introduction. "Let's see. There's 4 of us. Not nearly enough for a frontal assault. I got in through the roof last time, but that's because it had been left unguarded. Not the case this time. Front entrance isn't an option, and there are no other doors. That only leaves one option -- we'll have to go in through a window. He's probably got a guard or two on each window, but that's nothing we can't handle. Let's see... the west window is probably best -- the sun'll be in their eyes, so they'll have a harder time aiming. Got it? Good, let's do it!"

"Honestly, you didn't need our names. This one, you'd recognise him due to his sheer stupidity. And him, I guess he has that same outfit a million times in a massive wardrobe at home. They're probably reproducing back there," Saturos said, his expression unreadable. He wasn't showing any real amusement. He seemed to just come out with harsh comments like this naturally.
"No frontal assault?" Saturos repeated. He seemed genuinely dissappointed by this statement. "It's your plan. You call the shots. Attacking through the sunlight-route, I can relfect the sunlight from my blade into the eyes of any guards on duty, hopefully blinding one of them temporairily." Without waiting for a response, Saturos glanced at the lab for the window in question and walked to the closest hidden point there was to the entry point, his blade firmly in his hand.

Steven began to think of how he could help this guy and still get his target. “hmmm , well we could do multiple entrances at the same time to confuse the guards so that Joseph could get his prototypes and get out of there.” he said quietly. “If you don’t like that” eyeing the blue haired man, “we could just run and gun.”

"It would be most welcome if my clothes discovered the joys of procreation." Ods said with a smile. If there was one thing he enjoyed, it was the play of wits involved in humor. Combat was another way that one could test that, but really, it lacked that gentleman's air to it. Even when one lost, they still got to appreciate the strategy of the opponent.
"I'm naturally rather adept at slipping into whatever sort of complex the occasion demands. West side windows? No problem." Ods immediately set out, soon disappearing into the local scrub and ubiquitious cover. Moments later, there was a flash of silver from beside the window, like that of a fish in the water. A moment later, there was the distinct ringing of broken glass hitting the floor. Ods lunged out from behind the large rock he had sheltered behind, diving through the window with a seemingly inhuman ammount of speed. He landed on the floor in a roll, bulldozing straight through one of the guards and dropping him flat on his head. Ods spun to his feet as the other guard readied his weapon, and the gun fell into its loose components. The man took a step towards Ods, and then passed out cold.
"Well, hopefully that'll give the rest of them some kind of opening. I wouldn't mind working the kinks out of my joints."

"Interesting idea, Steven, but that would be if I only wanted to get the prototypes and leave. I want him OUT of there. Well, what are we standing around for? Let's go!" With that, Joseph quickly made his way to the broken window, and jumped through, landing inside on his feet with only a slight wobble.
Well done, Ods, thought Joseph, as he motioned to Steven and Saturos to indicate that the coast was clear. Only moments later, he realized that the indication had been a little premature -- Ods had easily taken care of the two guards at the window, but the sound of the breaking glass had attracted the attention of nearby guards. Three of them, Joseph saw, each armed with a laser rifle and
Joseph quickly tapped his belt, and the device hidden inside created a protective sphere of energy around him. The sphere would allow things to pass through only one way -- going out. Here's hoping the power holds out, he thought, as he motioned with his left glove to create a boomerang. The result was no mere child's toy -- this one had edges sharp to the point of a single molecule. Joseph aimed carefully, and threw at one of the oncoming guards.
Success! The boomerang sliced off most of the barrel of the nearest guard's laser rifle, and went through to bury itself in his shoulder. The hapless would-be assailant fell to the ground in pain. Next shot. A ninja star, as sharp as the boomerang he had just thrown. Joseph took aim, and threw. This one hit only the next guard's rifle -- but in just the right spot. This guard aimed, pulled the trigger... and his own weapon exploded. Joseph chuckled, as the force of the explosion threw the shooter and his comrade back.
The chuckle quickly faded, though. Joseph turned his head to address Ods. "This is probably just the first wave. The whole complex must know we're here by now. Joseph pointed down the hall the three guards had come from. "That's the easiest route to the main chamber. The other way does get there, but there's a lot of stuff along the way, and probably more than a few guards. All of you, come on! Tactitus will pay for what he's done."
As Joseph finished, he heard the distinctive sound that always accompanies a laser discharge. Thankfully, the bolt was deflected by Joseph's shield, but it would only be able to block so many shots before the power source in his belt gave out. "Steven, Saturos, any time now!"

Just as Joseph finished his sentence Steven dashed through the window. His hands began to crackle with electricity. “I guess I should keep the voltage down, I don’t want too much blood on my clothes” He said quietly. Seeing Joseph taking attacks from the guards and Ods taking men out, Jason decides to ready a volt tackle toward the closest guard, the air began to crackle as if it were the 4th of July. The guard didn’t know what hit him; the impact melted to his gun his leg. The man’s scream was dulled out by the sounds of the laser rifles shooting him and his comrades. He decided take out his trust Vulcan pistol, which he created himself to shot not bullets but charged shots of electricity. Steven began to search for any good targets, he found one a slow guard eating a donut while coming to aid his friends. He aimed to make the count and it did, the man’s head splattered against the wall of the compound. “Boom headshot”, he said with a smirk on his face.

Saturos shot in right after Steven, his arms oddly lax, as though the bones weren't actually joined. They flapped behind him as he moved, much like a scarf would in a strong wind. Upon landing, his arms bent slightly as he kneeled low, then were straight upon standing. He was stood in a rather sizeable corridor, and there were at least a dozen guards opposite him. He glanced up, then lowered his head, casting his eyes into shadow. The soldiers all raised their rifles, and shot at Saturos in no real order.
Saturos gave a demonic smirk, then snapped into action, his sword darting around him far too fast for the eye to follow, the blade giving off a soft haze. He caught every single one of the energy darts, deflecting him around him into the walls and floor of the corridor, and prevented every single one from passing him and hitting his allies. He gave the guards a moment to reload, and waited for the next wave of shots, twisted his sword in his hand slightly. The shots were fired, and Saturos's arm was darting around him, his head still down without looking at the opposition. His sword shot about him, sending the shots right back where they came from, melting the ends of the rifles.
The energy build-up in the gun barrels caused the metal to expand momentarily, then explode, creating a wall of energy that held in the corridor, forcing the guards back. Saturos looked up and gave a soft smirk. "I am not a novice at swordfighting."

Ods turned away from the main group, looking towards a wall. Focusing his attention on a single point, he brought his arms over his head. Swinging them down with the force of a hammer, he caused a massive gash to appear in the wall. He ducked through the gaping wound, lunging into the next hallway over. This sudden assault caught the men traversing that hallway off guard, and Ods slammed one facefirst into the wall. The other four brought their weapons to bear, and Ods turned to face them.
"Nightmare Catalyst!" Four spheres of green light flew down the hall, plowing through the men and knocking them off their feet. The four spheres swept inwards, merging into a roughly beachball sized orb of similar composure. The men rolled to their feet, and Ods pointed behind them, laughing slightly. The ball shot back to Ods, flinging the men aside like ragdolls.
"That one always gets them. Heck, it worked on Subject 4, back then." Ods said, smiling nostalgically, and then charging around the corner and into another group.

OOC: Thought you guys had given up on this one by now. Not sure why, but I always seem to have a harder time writing outside the PRP universe than in it.
BIC: I'm not going to ask, thought Joseph as he continued down the hall towards the main chamber. As he neared the final turn in the hall, a laser shot rang out, though it was not close enough to even impact Joseph's shield. Joseph flattened himself against the wall, his heart racing as the guards drew nearer and nearer.
Damn it, I'm cut off! thought Joseph. How am I going to get into the main chamber now? He sighed silently. They'll see me coming the moment I come around that wall -- that's it! Joseph looked up, and sure enough, there was a light fixture within easy range. No windows in this hall, so all the light's artificial. If I can get something in the circuit, then add a small antimatter shot, it should overload the electrical system. Joseph twiddled his fingers to give the proper commands to his gloves, the left first. A ninja star, small and sharp, materialized within a fraction of a second. Joseph took careful aim, then hurled the star into the nearby light fixture.
The star lodged in the fixture, but the lights remained on. Joseph released the breath he didn't even know he had been holding. Joseph looked closer -- as hoped, there were small sparks coming from the spot where the ninja star had lodged itself. Now to overload the system, thought Joseph, as he turned the right glove down to minimum power. He took careful aim, and fired, covering his eyes with his left arm the moment the shot was off.
Right on target, Joseph thought as the antimatter shot collided with the ninja star, creating a large burst of energy. At the same time, the lights flickered off all through the halls. Success! Those guards'll never see me coming now. Joseph almost jumped in celebration, before reminding himself that there was still more to be done.
Tactitus'll be in the main room, and the lock's probably engaged. It's on a different circuit, so my little light trick won't have affected it. I could destroy the door with a shot, but with the energy discharge, I probably wouldn't live to tell about it, not to mention that it'd destroy all the equipment inside. Tactitus isn't stupid enough to have not changed the codes, so I'll have to disable the lock. First, though, gotta get there. Those guards may be nearly blind, but they could still be trouble.
Joseph peeked around the corner, and was barely able to pull his head back before a guard had time to aim and fire. Nearly blind, nothing! thought Joseph. Tactitus musta thought of that one -- gave the guards night-vision scopes. There's too many for me to take out before they get off a good shot, and my shield's too low on power to take more than a couple shots. I'm gonna need to augment the power source when I can. For now though, no way I'm even getting to that door without the others.

Steven began to look for Joseph and couldn't find him for some reason. Most of the guards were eliminated by Saturos, Ods and himself. Then he saw a flicker of the lights from a corridor and decided to check it out. As he entered the hallway and he was fired upon from an unknown source. " hahahaha you guys need to lighten up" he said with a toothy grin. He soon began to concentrate energy in to making a bright flash. The flash instantly blinding all the guards with night vision.

"A flash isn't nearly enough to stop these guards," Saturos said, his sword darting around him as he deflected more blasts. "Assuming what Joseph said is correct, I don't doubt these goggles have some kind of filter to protect from light as well as dark."
Suddenly, Saturos swore. A bolt had sneaked under his guard and burned his upper arm as it grazed him. His eyes turned red, his sword beginning to vibrate violently. He ran down the corridor, apparently oblivious to the gunfire shooting through the air. Sword flashing in the light, he spun and weaved around the soliders, cutting through their weapons and slicing their skin just deep enough for them to collapse to the ground, writhing in pain. He plunged his sword into the solider who had clipped his arm, right in the heart. The soldier didn't stand a chance.
Saturos's eyes faded back to their default colour, and his sword stopped vibrating. Immediately, he slashed at the air, sending a bolt of energy flying back towards the soldier who had tried to shoot him. "You coming or not?" He yelled to Joseph.

A portal suddenly opened directly behind Joseph, and a young man, about 15, stumbled out and smacked right into him. "Yikes, whoa!" He said, looking up at Joseph from the ground. "Sorry!" He said, grinning and pulling himself to his feet. A plasma bolt whizzed by his head, and he ducked. "What the hell?" He said, turning around. He could see soldiers, angry people, and big guns. "Oh for fucks sake, out of the frying pan and into the goddamn volcano." He muttered, sheathing his knife, which glittered an odd, dull green, behind his back, he tightened the straps on his vambraces. "On the grounds that I don't want to die, I'm gonna help you guys out. Any objections? No? Good, my name is Linx Pagan, nice to meet you. Whats the objective?"

"Joseph Halzed," Joseph replied, flattening himself against the wall as deadly bolts whizzed toward the group from multiple directions. "Short version, this was my laboratory, it's being occupied by a general and some of his troops, I'm trying to get it back, preferably in one piece." Another bolt whizzed by, impacting on Joseph's shield. The spherical field flared, then settled back to its usual translucent yellow color. "Of course, I'd also like to make sure we all get through this in one piece, too. The main chamber's that way," he continued, pointing, "but first we need to take care of the guards. Once we do that, I can disable the lock on the main door." A laser bolt triggered another flare from Joseph's shield, and Joseph could see that it was beginning to dim. Yikes, he thought. The shield's running low, and we're all sitting ducks. Joseph tapped the right eyepiece of his glasses twice, triggering a display of the power levels of his various devices. Damn. Shield's at about 30 percent. Gloves are fine, at least. Hoverboard's useless here -- no room to fly. I really ought to find a way to interface the power cells, let them pull power from each other. Another flare of Joseph's shield brought him out of it. Make that 25 percent. Won't take much more at this rate."A little help here, guys?" he said, twiddling his fingers in a quick series of commands to each of his gloves. Joseph threw himself to the ground, tapped the left earpiece of his glasses, and looked at the ceiling. Hate to do this, but... A quick open-palmed jab with his left hand sent an almost imperceptibly small burst of antimatter towards the ceiling of the corridor leading away from the main chamber. The shot impacted, and Joseph heard a rumble. Direct hit, he thought. Seconds later, a section of the ceiling fell, creating a cloud of dust as it impacted with the floor. That should slow them down. Ought to take about a minute for the dust to clear."Linx, Saturos there is going for the main chamber. He's good, but he could probably use some help. You'll probably need that knife, at least if you want to get out of this alive. I'll try to... further discourage our pursuers, then I'll catch up. The lock for the main door is electronic, but it's shielded. If you end up taking care of everyone between here and there, go ahead and start on the lock if you can. Steven, you're with me. Don't do anything stupid. Now, where did Ods get to?" OOC: Meh, kinda short maybe, but at least we're getting somewhere. Let's just hope it doesn't take another month for us to get to the next plot point.

"Meh," Linx said, "Don't really need the knife." He called over his shoulder, running through the smoke. One of the soldiers attempted to get up, but Linx kicked him in the ribs, then stomped on his head. Poor bastard was out cold. Linx bent down and grabbed his plasma rifle. Blue flashes of light marked the deaths of the other soldiers, and Linx looted them for ammunition and a belt. Once finished, he charged around the corner after Saturos, who he could barely see some way's ahead of him, there were a lot of dead people behind him. However, he was just in time to see one of the soldiers pushing his fallen comrade off him, and take aim at Saturos back. Linx wouldn't be able to accurately shoot him at this distance, and he cursed bitterly. He flung his weapon aside, grabbed his knife, and cut through the air. Four seperate portals opened, and the soldier fired. It pass through the portal in front of the soldier, coming out the on in front of Linx and into another portal just aside that one, and finally the bolt of deadly energy came crashing down from a portal just above the unfortunate soldiers head, splattering his brains everywhere. Linx put his knife away and picked up his gun, charging down the hallway to a piece of cover right next to Saturos, he lifted his gun up around the obstruction and started shooting people. "You may have missed my entrance earlier, name is Linx. I shoot anything that shoots at me, so don't shoot at me, and we'll be great friends!" He said, grinning.
