Alright all my Exodites, it's that time again. That's right, it's time for the 2009 Exodus Spriting Grandmaster Contest. This year we're going to be doing things a bit differently, so bare with me while I go over some of the new additions. First off we are going to have a pretty big catagory revamp for the contest this year so we will see who is really on top of the world. Secondly, the judging system is going to be formatted differently which I will be explained later on here. Thirdly, the prizes for this contest is going to be alot bigger. Depending on how many people we get in the contest there is going to be an EP prize along with the title Spriting Grandmaster until the next contest as well as a special sprited prize. Now, let's discuss the subjects for the contest shall we?
Round One: Human Character Sprite (Judges Choice): This round is pretty simply. You will be creating a sprite of a human style sprite based on the following prompt. I want to see an Air Element themed character using no wings and no use of the color blue. Simple enough right?
Round Two: Pokemon Crossbreed (Freestyle): If I have to explain this to you, there is something wrong. Also you must use at least three different pokemon in the sprite.
Round Three: Non-Human Sprite (Judges Choice): I'll get this posted as soon as I have fellow judges and they tell me what they want to see.
Round Four: Sprite Avatar (Freestyle): This is going to be a newer idea that I'm rather fond of. Basically this round you will create a 100x100 Avi that is basically anything that you want it to be. The more room that you use the better your score will be.
Round Five: Non-Sprited Game Character (Judges Choice): Again, I'll get back to you on this one as well.
This should give you an idea on what we're doing, so let's tak about the judging system.
Each sprite will be rated for each round on a 100 point scale. This scale will be broken up into five different sub catagories. This will be Creativity, Originality, Physicality, Color Use, and Effectiveness. Each catagory will have 20 points possible adding up to the total 100. Once we have a rating for each sprite the three total scores will be added up and divided by 3 to get the average and thus rating them for the round. I will go over the basis for each of the catagories with the other two judges before we begin and if requested I will post it here as well.
Finally once we have all five rounds have ended the total for each contestant will be added up and the final rating out of 500 will be posted and the highest score is the winner.
Get to signing up folks and I hope that you have fun. I know that Pohatu has already thrown is hat into the ring to judge, so that leaves me in need of one other judge and some people to compete.
