Dingy white institutional walls... The girl sighed and leaned harder on the texturized plastic of the table. The cafeteria was sold out on pizzas and hamburgers, and it was a good ten minutes to the next batch. Until then, all that she could do was kill time.
She pounded her forehead against her palm, the small table shaking and her puff of fawn-brown hair bouncing vigorously with the motion. Nobody really close to her at this institution, unfortunately. In like three or four of the other ones, down farther south, she had befriended a good number of powers and even some of the lower ranking staff.
I've gotta be here though. Gotta be here. Thank you APCARP. Network of teleporters going all over the place, yet you forced me to go here a half a day early for a meeting with some people. She lifted her head, and leaned back heavily, hooking her legs around the table's to prevent herself from falling over. She lolled back, not caring if anybody noticed the red handprint on her forehead.
Called all the way up to Maine, disrupting my training schedule and everything. It's going to take me four or five days to make up my schedule...and I don't even know what this is about! Her lanky form snapped forwards, and pouded her fist on the table. The spoon at her place setting, hit at exactly the right angle, went soaring in a wide arc before plunging into the line of testy powers preparing for their meals.
She ducked and covered her head, hoping to look as innocuous as possible when whomever she had hit came calling.
OOC: I wanted to call this "Modified Sweat Glands", but then I realized that mammaries are also modified sweat glands, thus totally subverting my subtle allusion to my character's powers. So I went with something else.

OOC: Your character has boob powers? O.o
BIC: A man stood in line at the cafeteria. He hadn't been with APCARP very long, but one thing he had come to learn is that anything affiliated with the government is going to be painfully slow. Case in point, his meal. He was waiting in line for over 15 minutes now after all the burgers had been bought. "It shouldn't be so damn hard to get a damn sandwich, damn it!" he thought. "You'd think they'd make more than enough to go around since they are feeding a good number of people here."
He was already in a pissy mood when all of the sudden a spoon came flying through the air and landed in the dark brown puffball of hair he had. It stood for a moment before falling to the ground with a clatter. Chuckles broke out around him and it did nothing to improve his mood. "Calm down," he told himself, "At that angle, it isn't likely to have been chucked on purpose." Picking up the spoon, he looked for a guilty party. Experience said it was either the one who looked too innocent or the one who looked too guilty. The latter is what he'd find today as a girl seemed to be trying to hide under her arms at a table not too far from him. Figuring the line wasn't going anywhere for a minute, he left and approached the girl. Looking down at her, he noticed the spoon was missing from her place setting. "I believe you.. uh, 'dropped' this," he said in his deep, grainy voice as he handed the spoon back.

OOC: Testy as in irrate due to the hold up on their lunch. And they're in line waiting to get their trays at the counter.
Sorry, I shoulda been more specific.

OOC: Nope, since that would be awkwards... Especially with what her powers really are... Though actually, now that I think about it, two of the characters I have in the APCARP setting directly use modified pores for their powers... I guess it's because I'm trying for a more scientific feeling than "SHOOT ACID FWOM MY MOWF!"
BIC: "OH!" The girl instantly took it from him and set it back on her napkin, moving jerkily as she tried to overcome her surprise. Shoulda seen it comin'. I'm the only one over here, after all... She started to turn away from the man, but then turned back to face him.
"Sorry about... well, all of that. The spoon hitting you, losing your place in line... You know, the whole kit and kaboodle. I'll make it up to you, I guess," She produced a voucher from her pocket.
"Ice cream cone?" She gestured with it, obviously indicating that it was for him.
"I don't really stomach dairy well, anyways."

OOC- Short, but not much going on and I want in on this quick.
BIC- A man strode across the room in a few relaxed strides and whipped a chair around at the table where the strained coversation what going on. He took a seat and smiled at the two before pulling a small stone, about the size of a tennis ball, from his pocket. With a quick twist of his wrist he sent the ball spinning in front of him and watched it with reckless abandon. He didn't seem to really care if the others were paying attention to him, but in his mind he was keeping tabs on them. The training he had recieved since he was young was so strong that he always kept tabs on those around him. After a few moments of silent thought he put the ball away and faced the two.
"Hey, names' Emmett. Any idea how long the wait for foods gonna be?" Emmett asked in a very relaxed and carefree tone.

"Sure, I'll take that. I doubt any ice cream is stocked though judging by the state of the line for real food," he said taking the voucher and slipping it into the front pocket of his khakis.
Ben raised an eyebrow at the newcomer's actions, but said nothing. When Emmett introduced himself, Ben gave him a slight nod and said his name. "No idea how long the wait's gonna be though. I've been here for damn near twenty minutes waiting."

"Mine's May. May Grimaldi. Codename? Embio," She smiled slightly, watching Emmett twirl the ball. "Embio, not Embryo. I have issues with people that can't get that straight."
"Yeah, I don't know about the whole thing with the lunches here... I might just hit a vending machine, even though they cost an arm and a leg. Like five point five credits for a candy bar. Ridiculous, huh?" She shrugged, and then moved as if to get up.
"I dunno about the sort of schedules you guys are held to out here, but I'm going to get myself a bag of Goldfish and pig out. Time is money, you know?" She jammed one of her delicate hands into her jean pockets, fumbling around for her finance card.
OOC: If you want in, get in. One round until we make it hard to stumble into the plot.

" I'm done with this" was heard across the cafeteria. A man wearing a white dress shirt with a black tie and dress pants. He Jumped out of the line and decided to look for someone who had something worth eating. He pushed his shaggy hair back only leaving one eye exposed. He looked around and saw small groups of people but one group caught him in particular.
This was maybe because of the girl or their energy readings. He moved slowly towards the group moved himself next to the girl. " I guess you must have known I was going to sit next to you because your hand is already in your pants. The only problem is that you're in the wrong pair." he said with a smirk.

OOC: This plot point courtesy of a tipoff from Lee.
Maine. Madonn', he was in Maine. To the damned North Pole they'd transferred him. All right; so they weren't keeping him in Jersey -- okay -- that he could understand -- but Maine. They could have maybe sent him to New Hampshire, or Vermont, but they just had to squeeze out, of course, that extra drop of fuck-you.
In Maine. Why. Orsini guessed, for a mission. They needed him for something. These APCARP minchiones would find plenty of use for him. Orsini had no doubt. If they weren't looking to use him, he'd be in a cell underground. He knew how they thought. Walking free, abandoning his powers... this option they hadn't given him. No surprise.
They'd had to struggle to bring him in. This was his pride. He hadn't made it easy on them. Lazzaro Orsini. Codename "Shrapnel".
A suicide bomber, without the suicide.
He pressed into the cafeteria. No surprise either how people pushed away from him. To intimidate, this was always a strength of his. He had bulk, and a hard face, and his skin was flushed, and people took one look at Orsini, and knew this man could explode at any minute. Too right they were. More right than they could know.
Here he was, on an order. Issued from the higher-ups. He was looking for a girl. May Grimaldi. Embio, she was called. A smarter man than he maybe would know what in hell that meant. She -- Ah. There she was, Orsini suspected. The lady matched the description he'd been... Madonn'... this was no lady. She was a girl. The age of some of them in APCARP...
He pushed up to her table. "May Grimaldi. Embio," he said. When she nodded, he went on: "I've been told to find you. You're wanted upstairs -- a briefing. Will you come with me?"
There were three other men at the table -- others in her guild maybe. Or just a few cafones hoping to score some action off this girl, Orsini didn't know any more than he cared. For her to bring along friends, it was okay, he had been told. So he added, "You three. You can come with her. On this, she isn't working alone, I think."

"Finally!" Emmett exclaimed as he lept to his feet. "Let's do something other that sit around all day!"
Emmett's excitment was obvious to anyone around him and frankly he didn't care who knew. Emmett had always been ready for some sort of action and being cooped up all the time and training in the contained areas were very boring. Out of habit, Emmett grabbed the orb in his pocket and flexed his hand around it. In that very moment a brown-gray layer erupted up his arm towards his elbow and hardened into a stone-like substance. Emmett looked down and smiled at himself and raised his arm up towards the group.
"They gave me the codename Shell for a reason." Emmett laughed as he tossed the ball to his other hand.
"Well, are you people coming or not?"

May turned to meet the newcomer's gaze. She frowned slightly, tilted her head, and then let out a rich laugh.
"Hey, it all depends on which ones the money is in," She smirked slightly, and drew the plastic card from her pocket.
"Not sure about the rest of you guys but I'm-" She turned, seeing Orsini looking at her.
"Going... to... uh... meh," She clenched her fists when he botched her name, keeping them at her sides, but still clearly rendered rather irrate by the mistake. She glanced sidelong at him, gauging his strength for a moment. Too dangerous to mess around with, really... Even if his powers were crap, with a body like that, he'd squash her like a bug.
"So the briefing at last? Here I was thinkin' I'd just be sitting on my hands here waiting for them to whip up a burger, but sure. Sounds great. I'm all yours," May slipped her card back into her pocket again, and then stepped away from the table. She looked back to the rest of the group, wondering if they'd be coming along, and then turned back to the closest door out of the cafeteria.
"I didn't even know that they had a second story here. I thought it was all one big floor sorta deal..."
OOC: Not sure if I should autodrag you all right to the office... Eh, that'd be a block-post. I'll go with the standby of "If nobody posts by tomorrow, I'll just do the other half of this."
OOC: BTW, thanks, Kaz. I didn't tell anybody, but yeah, May's got a bit cruder sense of humor than my typical character. So that set up her personality development just about perfectly without me having to ram it in.

OOC: I'll make it work.
(Later...)
There. Short, but better than my first one.
BIC:
"You guys are heading out somewhere? Mind if I tag along?"
Behind the group stood a woman carrying a side salad and two servings of fries on a tray. She was tall, blonde, and seemed to exude a confidence that bordered on arrogance. "Good thing I decided to skip the wait for the real food, isn't it?" she commented, popping a fry into her mouth. "Or else you would have missed me completely.
"My name's Kai, by the way. Kai Caudell. I just couldn't help overhearing..." She waved a manicured finger at the brusque man who had come to summon them. "...Anyway. You should definitely bring me with you."

Ben cast a sidelong glance at Lazzaro. He looked like he could burst a vessel at any minute. "That dude needs to chill the fuck out," Ben thought running a hand through his puffball.
"I'll tag along. I haven't been in very long though so I dunno if I'll be much help," Ben said as he followed May out of the cafeteria. Truth be told, he was inexperienced compared to some of the people here who had been training their abilities all their life, but he had improved a bit on his own. Nothing spectacular, but enough to where they had been rather insistent he joined APCARP.

“Jasper, are you listening to me?”
“Oh, uh…” Jasper had been eavesdropping on the slowly growing group of people two tables over, “No… I’m sorry babe.”
Hannah shook her head, “I was saying I’m really excited about my transfer. Today is the first day I start reporting to the ward.”
Jasper looked at her as he cocked his eyebrow, “The ward?”
“Yeah, it’s what they call the part of the facility where all the unfortunate powers go.” Hannah answered.
Jasper’s expression remained unchanged.
“Ugh,” Hannah said exasperatingly, “It’s for people whose powers are more like a handicap.”
“Oh ok…” Jasper had returned to eavesdropping once more.
Hannah shook her head, “Babe, if you want to go with them just say so. You’ve been cooped up for awhile and I know you’ve been feeling restless.”
Jasper looked down then at Hannah, “I don’t deserve you.”
“No you don’t,” she laughed and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Jasper winked and disappeared. Immediately, two tables over, was a dull cracking sound. Jasper was now standing in the midst of the group. He brushed his shaggy blue dyed hair out of his brown eyes and extended a hand towards Lazzaro.
“Hi, the name’s Jasper, but you guys can call me Skip. What’s this I hear about you guys inviting anyone who wants to come along?”

Orsini took the man Jasper's hand and shook it briefly. "Shrapnel," he only said, not bothering to clarify that this was his code name. "There is a lot of you, then, but this isn't a problem, I think. Come with me. I'm to bring you to the office."
He turned and forged a path through the bustling diners to the doorway, for the girl and these others.
OOC: Of course, Lee will need to actually bring us to the office.

The man laughed as he turned to adjust his tie and scratch a small mark on the smiling skull pin on it. < That's 23> he thought to himself," We'll i guess you get my humor then....." . He turned to find that most of group had left him to follow a large man. He sat there with a smile on my face." We'll my name is Virgil" he to the imaginary group in front of him.
He then got up with his left hand in his pocket and followed the group. At that time a group of people moved towards another room in the complex. One of them dropped a soda can on the floor as they passed by. He pointed his pointer and index finger towards the can. He look down the barrel of his finger and forced a shot from it popping it in the air. He moved his left hand from his pocket a wait for the right angle and shot it again. The can flew towards head of the litterer knocking him to the floor. " Keep the world clean, its where I keep my stuff", he said blowing his fingers.
He then returned to follow the group.

"It's not exactly filling me with confidence that whomever wanted to meet me encouraged you to scoop up half a dozen other powers along the way," May muttered, her strides short and fast despite her willowy build. They passed by one of the training areas, the sound of slamming weights echoing out into the halls. May winced slightly, but continued walking.
"Of course, maybe they just wanted to make us do something demeaning like moving boxes. Empty boxes? I can only hope," May glanced at the massive plate-glass windows on an empty room. Probably for observing practice bouts, if this was anything like home. Of course, this WASN'T home, sooo... She let the thought drop as she clambered up the stairs after the portly man.
"By the way, thanks for coming along, guys. I know that you all probably had plans, but got lassoed into this whole thing by whomever's in charge. None of you are missing leave time, right? Then I think I would feel bad about dragging you all along," May could tell they were getting close, as Orsini began slowing down. They turned a corner, and her suspicions were confirmed. The short, narrow hallway led to a set of doors at the end, each one clearly belonging to one of the higher ranking individuals. Orsini turned to the left, and knocked three times.
"Come in. All of you," A woman's voice said placidly, a slight note of impatience barely carrying itself through the thick wood of the door. Orsini, obviously uncomfortable in the closed quarters, quickly opened the door and stepped inside. The rest of the group quickly filed after him into the spacious, expensive looking office.
"So, this is what we have today? Not too horrible to work with. Not the best I've seen, but I've been around quite a bit," The woman, a middle aged blonde wearing a brilliant orange business suit, smiled quietly. "You all comfortable?"
"You mean, like standing, since we don't have any seat-" May was cut off as exactly six circles slid open in the floor, and silver columns arose with a quiet hiss.
"Not the most comfortable seats, but they're servicable and very damage resistant. Anyways, I guess I should introduce myself, since most of you are from other bases. My name is Toni Anat, codename Phalarope. Highest ranked Power in APCARP for about six hundred miles," Her grey eyes turned upon the group, and she slowly regarded each of them.
"Let me see... I know May, although this is the first time we've met in ten years, I know Orsini, since I sent him along for this, and... Well, I'm sorry, but I don't believe I've had any distinct interactions with the rest of you. If you could introduce yourselves, I'd b muchly obliged."
"Ten years? What?"
"I'm getting to that... Anyways, May, you've been called up here due to a mission involving people of note to you."
"People of note? What kind of joke is this? APCARP doesn't go and muss with missions to make sure that they match up to the right people. I wish they did, but they just throw them out to us and let things happen."
"I match missions to people. Or should I say that I'm abusing my power as the Director of Power Utilization for this department in order to help out some friends of mine?"
"Which would be?" May sighed, and leaned forwards slightly. None of her friends ever went on away missions or the like, really, since she mostly hung around with maintenance and culinary staff, so she was finding herself absolutely puzzled.
"Your parents, May," Phalarope lowered her voice slightly.
"My parents? Say WHAT?" May felt her heartbeats quicken. She stood up, to get a closer look at Phalarope's face.
"I'll need to explain."
"Quickly, please."
"Certainly. Anyways, this girl here is genetically not a human. Her parents, geneticists unable to have a child on their own, decided to make a deal with APCARP twenty years ago. They promised to provide them with a Power in ten years, if they got to raise the child for the first eight years of her life."
"And a year of research and work, and a year of gestation, and well..." May held out her arms. "Tada."
"Anyways, carrying on, I had been appointed guard to the project in the initial phases and had befriended the Grimaldis during it, so they sent me to get May and bring her to the nearest base at the time," Toni smiled smugly, clearly throwing back the statement about APCARP's impartiality in May's face.
"Skip ahead to this year, a week ago. We got a distress signal from the Grimaldi household, now located up here in Maine. We sent in two low grade powers immediately to examine the situation. One was killed, but the other one managed to escape, bearing a message,"
"Are my mom and dad okay?" May's earlier nonchalance was replaced by a jittery concern, her lips working quietly and fingers tensing.
"Yes. The situation is quite simple, really. Four powers and half a dozen armed men are holding them hostage until... Well, they didn't really say. All I know is what I told you, and that they reassured us that they'd only kill Jack and Mel if neccessary for their own survival."
"Who are they working for?" May was shivering, continuously tensing the muscles in her forearms.
"We don't really know. That's what's up to the seven of you . Find it out. I've cued up a teleporter down the hall to take you to the fringe of their property, near our current surveilance."
"Your mission is to save the lives of the Grimaldis, and ideally, keep as many of these mysterious attackers alive and restrained as possible... Oh, and May, say hi to your parents for me, next you see them. That'd be good."
OOC: Kinda meh, but I'll fix it up later. As is, the bones are there.

Ben followed the crowd down the corridors and into an office. He had been here once before when he was first transferred here; it was Phalarope's office.
He stood silently, even after the seats appeared. He was just taking everything in since he was just a tag-along and it wasn't really his place to say anything. He was a little irritated at her comment about not knowing any of them, mainly because he had been at the Maine base for 6 months now since he was transferred for reasons never explained to him. However, important people never remember the little guys, so he took it with a grain of salt.
With a nod, he said, "Ben," and that was his entire introduction.

Virgil came in near the end of Phalarope speech. He had heard only the mission briefing and the conditions of it. " Ummm could you repeat the beginning again" he said with a smile. Phalarope gave a deep sigh and gave a very brief synopsis of the mission. " ....and that's what you missed young man. Oh and please give me your name and code name" she said staring passed him.
"The names is Virgil aka Psi-Shot, mam" he said adjusting his tie.

"Emmett Hubbard, code name Shell, reporting for duty!" Emmett blurted out as he threw his stone hand up to his head in a salute and nearly nocked himself out.
Emmett took the hit in stride and slumped onto the metallic stool and rested for a moment. After he could see straight again he released the stone from his arm and rubbed his temple as if it was going to help the bruise forming there. Emmett smiled at the group again and stood back up a bit shakily.
"Sorry...Forgot that I hadn't released it..." Emmett said to no one in general.

"Jasper," was the only thing he said before disappearing and then, with another dull crack, apeared sitting in the chair.
"So," Jasper prodded at the arms of the chair, "What's in it for the rest of us. This is obviously volunteer, so is there going to be a reward? Or is this just so we can feel all warm and fuzzy?"
As he spoke he avoided looking over in May's direction.

"Hmmm... I think I'll make the missions a bit juicier for you than the average one," Phalarope said, her fingers walking through a box of index cards on her desk.
"Seeing as how it's a rescue mission, you'll only get paid if you all can get them out of there alive and in reasonable health. Recovering those two is by far our main priority..."
"It better be," May responded, reaching under the shoulder of her tanktop and rolling out a sheer blue silk epaulet. She repeated the process over the other arm, and then reached into her pocket. She produced a small glass container from her pocket, and unscrewed the cap with a twist.
"Seven of you, against four powers and six unpowered combatants... I'd say that comes to about five hundred credits each, flat rate. I'll spice it up a little for the fact that you're dealing with known power killers now, so seven fifty each. And... Eh, hundred credit bonus per each one of those nonpowereds you take alive, and three hundred per power. Remember, though... Main priority, save the Grimaldis,"
"Who're you putting in charge of this? If you hadn't checked, none of us are exactly Guild mates," May wiped the facepaint from her fingers, having masked the area around her eyes in a stripe of black. A line drew back from each corner, running out of sight beneath her puff of hair.
"I'm going to have to say... May, you know your parents best, so it's up to you to handle the situation. Of course, if you get incapacitated by something or have trouble working in a situation where your loved ones are at risk..." Phalarope stopped talking, trying to read the others in the room. She hadn't had time to research any of them, so this was all going on gut instinct... Not Shell... Too happy go lucky, nor Orsini, who would probably just blow everything to kingdom come and call it a day... And Virgil's lack of punctuality was slightly discouraging. The others were a much more even competence for a leadership role from what she had seen. She bit her lip, and then announced her decision.
"Ben will take over in such circumstances. If all else fails, Jasper, you're in charge of arranging a retreat. All of you, good luck, and... be careful, okay?"
"Oh, believe me. I'll be beyond careful," May stuffed the jar of paint back into her pocket and started to turn away, but thought the better of it. "Thank you, Toni. I'll let my parents know who was responsible for letting them see their girl again."
The two shook hands, and without a further word, May left the room.
"The teleporter... If I remember correctly, it's in the basement area, a bit away from the cafeteria, right?" May slowed down as the rest of the group caught up to her. She let the others, more familiar with the base, take the lead, and watched where they were headed.
"So, all of you ready for this? I normally like to be cheery going into crap like this, but..." May shrugged. "I don't know how to feel about this one. If I screw up, I might end up seeing my parents die... Or even worse, in a way, the first thing they see of me in the last decade would be... Well, I really hate thinking about that kinda stuff."
"All of you, don't pull any punches. I don't care that there's a live bounty on these thugs. Think of it as only something to try for only if it's given to you. Our first goal is to save my family, okay? When they're safe, we round up the ***holes that did this," May followed the group around the corner, into a room with a chunky, luminescent door frame.
"These things look just as stupid just about anywhere y'go, huh? Seven powers, drop at the perimeter of the Grimaldi property," May stated aloud, hoping that Phalarope had sent orders ahead for the coordinates.
"Certainly. Best to brace yourselves, since the terrain is kinda rough..." The white clad operator punched a few spots on the touch screen as the warriors climbed onto a circular, raised platfrom in the center of the low-ceilinged room.
"Sending in three... two... one..." A dull, hazy glow surrounded the group for a moment, and then there was an incredibly loud whoosh as they disappeared. ---------- The group collectively reappeared with a popping noise, and then a splash, as they fell into a stream. May resisted an urge to shout out in surprise, knowing that they had to be in close range to the enemy.
"I'm going to try and get the lay of the land," She remarked, and looked around her. The group had arrived in a ten-foot deep gulley, which seemingly bent around a corner. The stream, shallow enough to walk steadily in, but incredibly chilly, ran past her ankles, numbing her feet. She stumbled over the rocky bottom for a short while, and then decided to climb up and see where they were.
Kicking down a few chunks of sod as she climbed the steep bank, she dug her fingertips in and poked just her eyes above the edge of the slope. The were in a fairly isolated location, with no other houses within an eyeshot, although that could have also been due to the thick stands of scrub pine crowding the lot. Further along the way the stream was flowing, a large bridge, made of a greenish lumber, and obviously big enough to drive a truck across, spanned the gulley. Indeed, it seemed that a gravel road lead away from that, off to... May had to turn over, and lay on her back to see. It turned out of sight, but the bright spots seen through the trees probably meant that it came to the road.
She turned back to the way she had originally faced. To her left, and about fifty feet in from her vantage point, a two-story house with a steeply angled shingle roof stood. The cedar used for its siding was still fresh and bright orange red, and there was a wood sided station wagon parked in the driveway, along with a nondescript white van.
There was movement inside the house, some quick pass by one of the windows. May managed to make out a grey t-shirt and long, dark hair, but otherwise hadn't been able to figure out much of the details... She craned her neck, trying to get an angle to see the person, only to have the needle-covered soil beside her head explode in a cloud of debris.
May kicked off of the wall and dropped, falling ten feet and landing halfway on her feet. She lost her balance and fell over into the frigid waters, but almost instantly righted herself and rose to her feet. She sloshed quickly back to the rest of the group, shaking halfway from nerves and halfway from the cold.
"This is it, alright... The house is over there..." She gestured slowly, not wanting to prompt hasty action.
"Two cars out front. One's clearly my family's, but the other is so mundane it's suspicious. Standard white van, y'know? Anyways, we've got decent cover against all prying eyes, even satellite, with the pine forest all over the place here, but the road IS only about a hundred yards from our location, so keep that in mind."
"Oh, and one more thing... They've got at least one sniper covering the property. Not sure on how good he is, since he missed me up close, but he may have been set up for distance work... So, y'know, guys, just keep that in mind."

OOC: Cool stuff, Lee. I'd try to post, but today is not the day at all. I would say that Kai could probably take care of a sniper or two, though, but it's up to whatever you have planned.

OOC: I'll give you all this: Four of the normal humans in the enemy group have no plot point, so are expendable. Also, I've only decided on two of the powers, so if you wanna make up the other two, go ahead. I'll give you guys some room to work with.

All throughout the meeting with Phalarope, who was no great friend of Orsini's, he had remained silent. Now, however, he spoke. "This white van, this suspicious white van," he said, "do you want I should see to it? From here I can throw a rock. Break a window, get inside." At this point he didn't think it so necessary to explain just how he would get inside. That they could see soon enough, though. "If I find nothing important, I can take out the van. Then, to escape, it would be much harder on them."
Again Orsini made no answer to just how he would get rid of the van. This power they would surely see one way or another.
To ask for instructions from a little girl, this Orsini found foolish the more he thought about it, but he believed it best to ask as long as the family car too was there in the driveway.
