It's been promised for a long while, and now it's finally here... Welcome, everyone, to...
This game should be a lot of fun, but before we can get into it, it's probably a good idea to explain the game. As I've done before, I will enlist the help of something I wrote in the past. Mostly taken from Match Game 04 (please read this through):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is how the game is played...
There are 8 contestants (originally split into two teams of 4), which I have already selected. I'll give them a funny sentence with a *BLANK* in it, such as...
"Weird Willy is so weird, instead of wearing a suit to his wedding, he wore a *BLANK*!" And each person on the 6 "celebrity" panel would write down their own personal answer, almost always a funny one.
Then, the host, Gene Rayburn, (who I'm acting out), would read the question again to the contestant whose turn it is. The contestant would give their answer. Then, in turn, Gene would go to each of the celebrities, and they would reveal their answer. Each "match" between a celebrity and the contestant would earn the contestant's team one point. If a contestant matches a panelist in Round 1 of a game, that panelist's matches cannot count for that team during Round 2. But, for fun, in this game, even the panelists whose answers don't count will still give their answers.
There are two rounds per game, with one question for each team in each Round. After the two rounds are over, the team with more matches wins that game, and moves on to the Super Match. The other team, uh... disappears until the next game. Actually, the platform they're sitting on spins around off stage.
Our Panel consists of...
Bulbs, in the #1 seat,
Steph, in the #2 seat,
Lee, in the #3 seat,
Kaz, in the #4 seat,
Pohatu, in the #5 seat,
And, Psy Sneasel in the #6 seat.
Our 8 contestants have been randomly split into two teams of four:
TEAM 1:
Kuro, Ocelot, Moonlit_Angel, Aurora
TEAM 2:
djkates, Pikachu, Pope, SapphireVaporeon
Each round, one player from each team will be up to answer the question, in a rotating manner. This way, you have to depend on everyone to hold up their end, otherwise the whole team may fail. Unlike in Match Game 04, I am specifically allowing the team to advise each other on answers if they so wish. Ultimately, the player whose turn it is gets the final say. I just ask that if teams wish to discuss answers (either on the boards, PM, or on another messenger), time isn't wasted. Match Game 04 ended up taking something like eight months and I'd greatly like to avoid that. x.x After the end of Game 3, the team with fewer @'s (my equivalent of dollars) has to leave the game. The remaining 4 players will then be split into 2 teams of 2. These pairs will then play 3 games against each other (players taking turns to answer questions). At the end of Game 6, the pair with fewer @'s has to leave the game. Then, the final two players will face off in Games 7-9. Whoever collects the most @'s in the final three games will be the winner of Match Game 07!
Yes, I know it sounds complicated, but it really isn't. If anything comes up, I'll deal with it as it comes. I will always say whose turn it is when, so you don't have to worry about it.
Some final notes: The panel sends me their responses to questions before the round takes place. This means that their answers are chosen before you even picked that question. :-p This helps to ensure nobody cheats. The game is meant for fun, so please don't cheat. I believe I can trust everyone involved not to share information. Panelists, please don't tell the players about any questions I send or the answers you give, and players, don't try to be sneaky. Mafia worked like that, but this game won't be nearly as fun when people share information they shouldn't have. Also, only players on the team whose turn it is may suggest answers to the question. The question will have to be tossed away if someone gives any answers who shouldn't be.
Now, personal experience time.
~READ THE QUESTIONS! One word in the sentence may tip you off to a certain answer that would make it funny.
~Think of this as a 1970s-80s TV show, not a lame attempt at recreating it. Don't always just think logically. The funnier and better the answers, the more fun the game will be.
~Remember, funny = good. Being stupid = not good.
I've yet to decide on how EP will be distributed. I was tempted to establish some kind of conversion rate for @'s to EP, but in Match Game, the payout is INCREDIBLY heavily skewed in favor of those who score on the Super Match. I don't want both the @'s and EP to be determined primarily on who scores there, so I'll decide as the game progresses how much EP everyone will receive. The more effort and fun I see, the more EP will be handed out. ^^
Also, I'll link you all again to the main game thread of Match Game 04. Aside from taking forever and a day, that game worked out quite well. As long as everyone has fun and posts throughout, it'll be great. I just don't want all the posts to be ones essential to gameplay. You're here to have fun, so laugh at people's silly answers, suggest some of your own (AFTER the question's been finished), ANYTHING. This game is as fun as you make it.
Between now and when the game actually starts, I'll likely be making other threads in this forum (and you're welcome to as well!) Any questions about the game itself should go here. And with that, I think I've said everything I need to. Once I hear back from everyone on the panel, I'll get this underway.
