Okay, we bandied this idea about for a while, but it went nowhere. Basically, we had elemental houses that corresponded to the alchemic elements, and would use those as division lines for some contests. They were: Oloysian: Elements: Water and Time Season: Autumn Key Attributes: Flexibility and Artistic Flaw: Absentmindedness, Vanity Exemplars: Pohatu, Bulbs Rival House: Vashval Head: Pohatu Neck: Bulbs Other Members: Ch00beh, Cinders, Duckyqueen Total Member Count: 5 Percentage of House Members: 33% Vashval: Elements: Fire and Death Season: Summer Key Attributes: Decisiveness and Power Flaw: Overly Focused, Combative Exemplars: Kuroboom and Lugiasian Rival House: Oloysian Head: Kuroboom Neck: ? Other Members: Clicker Lonewolf Total Member Count: 3 Percentage of House Members: 20% Ulaich: Elements: Earth and Space Season: Winter Key Attributes: Reliability and Wisdom Flaw: Inactivity, Clannish Exemplars: DL and Kara Rival House: Alryst Head: Dragon Lord Neck: ? Other Members: BloodWolf7, Luigilover, Silumas Total Member Count: 3 Percentage of Total House Members: 20% Alryst: Elements: Wind and Life Season: Spring Key Attributes: Creativity and Optimism Flaw: Impulsiveness, Unrealistic Exemplars: Lee and Kazkame Rival House: Ulaich Head: Lee Neck: ? Other Members: Kazkame, Elliot, Prime Total Member Count: 4 Percentage of Total House Members: 27% (I tweaked the representations and exemplars a little to make it fit a bit better.) So, anyways, who's up for it? I'm already working on a few projects for contests, such as a chess variant and a "Survivor" game where the groups face off for EP and HONOR. EDIT: I'm going with what Baboon saying, and downplaying their importance a bit. They shouldn't invade the Exodus; they should enhance it. These won't be mandatory even to play their games. People who don't want to be tied down to one can just play as an "Honorary Member" in the competitions. A further adendum: The exemplars are just people who show the house traits the most, not neccessarily the best heads/necks for the group. Though they may be.

I like that this is getting revived! It was one of my better ideas, I think.
But it seems to me that Vashval and Alryst would be more predisposed to rivalry, and Oloysian and Ulaich. The dichotomies between life and death, and time and space, seem more important to me than pairing off the elements.
Or maybe Vashval doesn't like Alryst or Oloysian, and its only real friend is Ulaich. And maybe Alryst and Oloysian get along well with each other but not with the other two.

Mm, I think that is to degree how it will go. The main rivalries run based on their spirits (Innovation vs. Tradition, Determination vs. Variety), while their secondary rivalry is based on methods (Laissez-faire vs. Direct approach, Few and Powerful Words vs. Verbose eloquence). Essentially, it means that Oloysian and Alryst, and Vashval and Ulaich, will team up most frequently in competitions.

Profound! Also, anyone who has no idea what we're talking about will benefit from reading such a topic as this. EDIT: DEAR GOD -- I OFFERED TO WRITE A SORTING EXIE BUCKET SONG? Why has this not yet come to passEDIT AGAIN: What happened to Heads and Necks? What is this "exemplar" business? And should the exemplars for Ulaich really be two people who never even posted in the topic? Much respect to DL and Kara, of course, but the four Heads ought to be people who were involved in the original plotting of the idea. I move Loogs be promoted again to Head of Ulaich, where she was initially cast. (This is also partially because I was about a third of the way through writing the first draft of the Sorting Exie Bucket Song before I noticed you had shuffled the people around.)

Exemplars are just good examples, not the heads and necks. Heads and Necks are not neccessarily those that are the full exemplars of a group, as much as they are the ideal leaders that fit the group. And I do believe that DL would probably be a better overall head for Ulaich than Stephanie, who shows very strong fire attributes (Direct approach to things, heavy emphasis on power, infrequent but prolific activity)
Really, we should wait a bit on the Heads and necks, since Ulaich and Vashval are up in the air. We know that I'm the head of Alryst, and you and Bulbs head/neck Oloysian, but these positions are questionable: Alryst: Neck, maybe Kaz, but not sure yet. Vahval: Head's most definately Boom, the king of debating and such, but the neck's hard to discern. Ulaich: Head and/or neck. DL says he's Ulaich and does exemplify the type for it (slow but steady poster, very wise, very grounded in tradition), but there may be dispute. And who knows who would be the neck?

Fair points, fair points. Well, here's the first draft of the Sorting Exie Bucket's Song. It'll need to be revised a bit if DL or someone else winds up Head of Ulaich, of course. There's also the bit where it's almost entirely fictional, but that's as it should be.
Last year in Archie Exie, Pohatu did suggest A notion bold and sexy And only half in jest. “Just say the board had clusters, Each with prevailing mood? It’d give the forum lustre And spark some friendly feud!” “Hear, hear!” cried Lee and Kuro, And also Dragon Lord. “With contribution thorough, ‘Twill energize the board!" Therefore the four proceeded To execute their plan, And after months impeded, The House System began. Each of the four presided Over a group their own. The members thus divided, According each to tone. Alryst was Lee’s bright banner: The House of Life and Wind, For those of wand’ring manner Whose souls could not be pinned. Ulaich was DL’s faction: The House of Earth and Space, Where calm and steady action Was of all things embraced. Pohatu’s was Oloysian: The House of Water and Time. Creative sorts, the noisy and The witty there were prime. And Vashval fell to Kuro’s lot: The House of Fire and Death. Intense, adventurous ones he sought Who’d fight to their last breath. At first this was successful, But soon there rose disputes That made enrolling stressful Upon the new recruits. The Heads got rather martial In choosing for their bands. They’d need a judge impartial, They sensed, to lend a hand-- That’s me, the Sorting Bucket. I’ll tell where you belong. It doesn’t cost a ducat And I’m very rarely wrong. So try me on! My goal is plain: To make the forum quartered. I’ll have a look inside your brain And choose where you’ll be sortered!

Impressive. VERY impressive, my good friend. That is most wonderful, and leaves us a good out if the heads change (Barring Boom, but he's pretty confirmed.)
So, anybody want to sign up, or do we need EP incentive to revive this?

Make this topic a global announcement so people who can't even be bothered to scroll all the way down the page will still see it.

Well, write another one off to the Philistines.
And no, I'm not talking about the Southeast Asian archipelago.

That song is pretty.
I think I go to Oloysian, but that house would be so stacked with sheer sexy, it wouldn't even be funny.
Except for House Oloysian. We'd be laughing.

I know it's not Vashval I'd fit with.... I could go to any of the others though.... >.< 'm kinda leaning more towards Uliach I suppose.... But whatever works.

Well, I've always been a major pyro (but never quite enough to be a pyromaniac, lol), so I'll go with Vashval.
Now time to read all of this, lol

I now provide my commentary! Oloysian: Ah, the Mod-house. It's a good thing there's no Coffee table forum, or else they could plan their house actions- over coffee. Vashval: The home of the floating head. Though it's got a formidable body, and a wise head, it strangly is missing a neck. That could be problematic. Ulaich: BloodWolf likes it there. He gets a whole house to himself. Alryst: DOESN'T ANYBODY LIKE ME??? WAAAAAH! (Though technically, every member of Alryst is an administrator. ) So, any suggestions/ideas on what our first house game will be? I'm thinking that I'll assign a few points here and there for various tidbits, though I'm not sure how to overall do it. I'll probably have a scoring system up and together by the end of the month.

YES! AA HOUSE TO MYSELF! Hm..> I guess I don't have to listen to anyone other than myself right now XD
Gotta say, I love how there's only one house with a full staff for it, everyone else has a hdead or neck or somn.
Then there's me without both... >.<
Guess you can't lose what's not there though, right?

We should make a questionnaire for people not sure what house they are in to give them an idea of what fits them? Yes?

We're just too awesome for anybody, even the Oloysians, to compare too. If Chuck Norris was a forum member, he'd be in there with us. And yeah, a ten question questionaire probably would be good for finding out which house some people are. As is, it's more an art than a science.

Good man!
And, hmm, yes... a test to determine which house you belong in... perhaps Quizilla can be of service here... Yes, I'll get right on that, if no one has any objection.

Well, of course, if you think you're a Vashval then you're a Vashval. The test would be more geared toward people who really aren't sure how they fall... Although anyone who wants to take it can take it.

Even though I'm already placed I'll probably take the test. It should be good to see how well it all fits together
