A young Japanese man in what appeared to be some sort of school uniform stood at attention, looking straight at the high-ranking powers. He, and several other people fresh to APCARP were lined up, and were being observed by the heads of APCARP and several guilds.
"Name?" A man with an ellaborate mustache querried, and the young man responded.
"Amai." In APCARP, he had heard, they tended to go on a first-name and code name basis.
"Codename?"
"Sasu." The man looked slightly nervous.
"Japanese for shining, striking."
"You could say that..." The man said, and remained still. "I came here from EPRPRO, to learn what APCARP had to teach us."
The man continued along the line, asking each new member about their names, powers, and other such information. As soon as he finished, each Power would be required to demonstrate what they were capable of...

"Name?" "Robert." "Code-name?" "Diablo." "Power?" "Bull-shitting." The school dude with the mushtashe looked at him skeptically. "Ok, for instance. Your moustache looks really good." Rob said, grinning. The school master scowled at him. "Be serious kid, I don't have time for bull-shit." Rob shrugged, "Alright, but really, you should consider a new look. Power, I dunno, your people chose me, I was curious, I came." He said. The schoolmaster shrugged and gave a signal to one of the assistants. The assistant pulled out a sword, and struck at Rob without hesitation. Rob dodged it and kicked him in the side of the head. "Ow!" Rob chuckled, "Serves you right for trying to hit me with that thing." The schoolmaster looked mildly surprised. "Have you been able to do that before?" He asked, Rob arched an eyebrow. "Damn right I have, If I couldn't fight, I'd be long dead. Considering how many people want to kill me." The school master nodded, and Rob got a bad feeling in his stomach. Another assistant, about 10 yards away raised a gun, and fired it at Rob. "Fuck!" He yelled, ducking, at the same time as everyone within three meters of him hit the ground, but it wasn't because of the gun. And the bullet was at the edge of three meters as well, stuck to the ground. The schoolmaster grunted, "Right...gravity control. Ouh, would you let us up now?" "Let you up?" Rob said in a stressed voice, "Motherfucker I should crush your ass! You fucken shot a gun at me! You get to stay there for a while!"

Amai focused, and then a ray of light extended from the tip of his hand, and then blossomed into a mushroom shape. He angled his wrist, and shoved it into the ground, using it to boost clear of the floor with an explosive burst of energy. He landed on one knee, across the room. He rose again, still brandishing the weapon cast of light.
"Sasu is also Japanese for holding an umbrella." Amai muttered smugly, and let his umbrella fade.

A boy sat in the uncomfortable chair that the APCARP officials told him to sit in. He shifted uneasily, the hard plastic pressing up against his bottom. He'd been sitting for about an hour and really wanted to get up and walk around or something. It had been an uneventful hour, too.
Suddenly, he heard a gunshot and the chairs to his left collapsed to the ground, bringing their sitters with it. In fact, he was the first chair in the line that hadn't fallen.
"Well, at least that was kinda funny," he muttered, smiling.
Although there was that mess, an attendant, slightly nervous, kept the interviews going, starting with him.
"Real name?'
"Tim."
"Got a code name?"
"Aegis."
"Huh. Shield, right?" the attendant asked. Tim nodded in a 'um, duh?' kind of way, causing the attendant made a face. He then asked, "Powers?"
"Umm, being hard?" he replied, fighting the urge to snicker at the attendant's "what the hell?!?" face. Heh, these APCARP guys were so uptight. Maybe it wasn't such a great idea to talk to these guys.

The interviews didn't seem to be going so well. The next in line was a young girl, staring at the ground, determined not to shake in fear. These guys were, like, jokers, but whatever... She'd never done anything like this before.
Another guy came up to her. 'Name?' he barked, just short of spitting in her face.
She glared at his boots. 'Jess,' she muttered.
'Code name!'
'Drifter.'
'Drifter, eh? That got anything to do with your powers? Huh?'
Silence. Jess continued to stare at the boots. Black leather. Quite nice, really.
'Speak up!'
God, that guy was bossy. And scary. But what the hell. 'Drifting.'
The guy gave her a sceptic look, raising an eyebrow. 'And what is that supposed to mean, girl?!' he spat at her, making her flinch.
'Leaving myself. Drifting through the air, free. Separate. And I can fly, too.'
'And you're from England, too! Damn foreigner.'
'Thanks,' Jess muttered sarcastically, glaring at the boots.

Diablo casually walked over, grabbed the guy by the throat, and lifted him into the air. "You might want to try being more polite you asshole." He said bluntly, then dropped him to the ground and kicked him square in the chest, at which he flew several feet back from him and the girl Jess. "Fuck'n assholes. You want us to cooperate and you act like that? Your the ones who gave us shit for alternative, be polite, or I WILL rip off your goddamn skull." Diablo said fiercely, he walked off. Hands shoved into his pockets, and a feirce scowl on his face. He could feel his newly awakened powers on the edge of his perception, like a demon waiting to be unleashed. He grinned, rude 'teachers' or not, this was gonna be fun.

Elliot shifted in his seat, but was soon met with a dagger-like glares from 'his' official. He shrugged it off, running his fingers through his short hair, spiking it with some help from the gel in his hair. It was suddenly blatantly obvious that the front of his hair was dyed bright blonde, while the rest of it as its natural light brown. The official glared again, his blue eyes piercing Elliot's somewhat cool composure.
"Name?" He demanded. "Elliot," Elliot replied, sounding slightly weaker than he would have otherwise done.
"Codename?" "Hydro."
"Hydro? Water?" The official queried, raising an eyebrow. "Maybe..." Elliot said, suddenly very quiet. As soon as he said that, an orb of water appeared in front of him, and formed a small dagger that froze over. Elliot grabbed the dagger, and the ice cracked away to reveal a real dagger.
"Conjuring?" "Sometimes. As long as the water's about, I can make anything, or just manipulate the water. Modify the particles as well, hence the dagger."
Elliot gave a small smirk, and threw the dagger at the official, who dodged. He didn't need to, however. It soared at least two foot to the right of where the official had previously been stood, and stabbed into the wall. "I have a good throwing arm too," Elliot said, smirking.

Tim laid back in his seat. He was considering collapsing the floor underneathe that official barking at the girl next to him, but saw that Rob guy pull off another blatantly antagonistic, violent, and stick-it-to-the-man approach, to put it lightly. Oh boy, this was going to be fun. He absolutely loved guys like Rob in the kind of way an anorexic girl likes a meaty hamburger.
He leaned over towards Jess. "Hey. Jess, right? Don't worry about these guys. They're basically the bullies at school who get all riled up when you mess with them, but then they do stupid things, and it's really funny and stuff." he said, smiling. Tim leaned back and started rocking his chair. He then took off his aviators and cleaned them with his shirt for a bit, then started fiddling with them, waiting for something to happen. Man this was boring. There wasn't even any warm sunshine coming into the room.

Jess looked at Tim, and attempted a smile. 'Yeah, they are kinda stupid, aren't they?' she agreed, her emerald green eyes twinkling. 'Do you have any idea what we're going to do next? I sort of just got over from England, so I'm pretty new with this whole thing.'

"You're not the only one." A dark haired boy just behind Jess said quietly. "I came here from Scotland, something tells me I'm gonna wish I hadn't bothered." The boy stopped talking rather abruptly as it was his turn to be questioned.
A rather fed up looking official stood before the boy. "Geeze, if looks could kill.." he thought to himself.
"Name?"
"Zee" The boy replied, the APCARP official raised a sceptical eyebrow.
"Uh...My parents were hippies.." Zee explained, his face reddening slightly.
"Codename?"
"Phantom"
"Is that connected with your powers?"
"You'd think this guy would have figured out the pattern by now." Zee thought to himself. "Yeah, in a way." he finally answered after a moment of silence.
The offical lingered for a moment before moving on. He was waiting to see if Zee was going to give a demonstration of his powers, like the others had. Zee chose not to however, they would just have to wait. He would show his powers soon enough.

A man in a loose fitting black outfit approached the group of new recruits. "I'm here to try and form a guild. I've been in APCARP for years now, but only as a solo member. So, I came here to see what I could find."
"My name's Pascal Tamerlane. My APCARP name, though, is Manifest. I have the power to create metal blades beneath my skin, and use them to attack." The man greeted the group happily, his face animated with a puppy-esque joy to see the new members. "Since we're forming a new guild, you'll get equal say in everything."
"That's right." A blue clad figure said, creeping onto the scene with a measured coldness about him, the feel that accompanied somebody who had been forced to fight with their back to the wall. He approached the groups with a much more beaten stride. "But there's also other options. Going solo, joining a large, established guild, or forming a guild out of entirely new members for yourself. Or you could join my guild, if you want to. Though the Holy Force isn't very cheerful these days. Or you could find Dracon and Summer, and join their guild. Etcetera. Etcetera. There's many options." Revenant seemed to be in an especially dark mood this day.

"Well, attitudes aside," said Tim, obviously mocking Revenant's dark tone, "I think I'll go ahead and join Manifest over here. Our powers seem similar and all. Plus, dude," Tim said, addressing Revenant, "you kinda killed any desire to join your guild with the whole "not so cheerful" thing." He tried to keep his tone somewhat respectful, since that guy probably could've kicked his ass with ease. It didn't work too well, to say the least. Tim walked over to Pascal. In a hushed whisper, he said, "So, dude, ya think for our first task, we can go out and get some ice cream or something? It's hella unfriendly in here..." OOC: Yeah, Tim's a Cali boy. You can tell by his overuse of the words "dude" and "hella".

"That was my intention, actually." Revenant said calmly, without a hint of regret. "I don't want to have to share any more misery with anybody else. I only came here to alert you to the sort of options you have."
Amai rose. "I'll go along with you, Pascal." He didn't explain himself. He didn't need to let anybody know anything about him yet, but he felt drawn to Pascal. He, too, had spent years as a solo operative. He knew what it was like. And a guild was a welcome offer, if he wasn't going to be snubbed as a new member.
Pascal shrugged. "Usually, we do go to the cafeteria after orientation. So, I guess that you could say we'll get ice cream out of this."

Diablo walked forwards, to stand in front of Pascal. "Diablo." He said simply, "I'd like to join your guild if you'll have me." He looked thoughtful for a moment, then shrugged and said. "Apperently I can control gravity."

"You're in," Pascal said, inviting Rob to join the group. He turned to look at the rest of the new recruits. Quite a bright eyed and hopeful crop. If they were the future of APCARP, things would be very good. Mayhaps they were disrespectful, but hopefully, they could be an engine of change in this skewed world.

Rob grinned, "Thanks for the warm welcome Pascal." He turned to Tim, "Things seem a bit grim around here don't they? Makes you wanna go get ice-cream, doesn't it?" Rob said, grinning. "I've got sharp ears, I'm Rob, but you can call me Diablo. I'm overly violent, utterly intolerant of idiots and idiots in the guise of authority especially, and apperantly I control gravity. Which is kinda cool, what do you do Aegis?" Asked Rob thoughtfully, wondering if he would compliment Rob's own abilitys. (Not compliment as in praise, compliment as in combat.)

"Actually, I prefer Tim, so long as we're inside and not doing the whole 'mission' thing," Tim replied. "My power seems to be the ability to control iron that I'm touching and carbon in my body. Most important thing about that'd be that I can make my skin as hard as steel. And, as far as personality goes, people call me overly relaxed about stuff, and they don't seem to get how I get stuff done with insane efficiency since they usually see me lying down outside." Tim shrugged. It was just one of those things.

Jess looked at the assembled recruiters, guild leaders, etc etc. Happy bunch. Especially that Revenant guy. Choices, choices... She closed her eyes, shutting out any distractions. Pascal seemed the obvious choice: new guild, new members, all around the same level... But where would the challenge be in that? She needed something to aspire to, to work towards. Something big.
She opened her eyes. Looking to Revenant, she smiled. 'Could I possibly go with you?' she asked sweetly. 'I don't mind a dreary atmosphere, grew up in one anyway. And I like... Well. Powerful people around me, if you don't mind me saying so.'

Revenant nodded. "If you wish to join our guild, I suppose we have room for one more." Confidentially, he led her aside. "Right now, my guild's just two people. Used to number more than half a dozen, but a lot of us decided to go back to leading normal lives with power suppression and such. So, well, my name when we aren't on missions, is Lee. And the other guild member, well, her name's Stephanie." Revenant seemed uneasy exposing his life to this new member, but also to be blatantly honest. He had been growing used to being part of a two person guild. However, now he felt that it was time for the guild to expand.

Elliot looked at Pascal and Revenant thoughtfully as he weighed his options. Clearly, Pascal's group would be the ideal choice. He would be surrounded by people around the same power level as he was, probably a bit higher than him. Water was, after all, just water. He would fit in, he guessed, and probably stay the same power level all his life, maybe rely on others in tight situations.
Revenant's group, however, seemed very depressing. What Revenant had said... "Though the Holy Force isn't very cheerful these days." There was something in his tone of voice more than his words. Elliot gave a half-hearted shrug.
"Alright, can I join you?" He asked Revenant, a small smile on his face.

Revenant turned suddenly towards Elliot, almost as if a loud noise had come from that direction. Really, what was going on here? Usually, his doom and gloom act tended to provoke a spate of solo careers in APCARP. Instead, there was a batch of people who had decided they liked challenges...
"Sure. You're welcome in. Your powers certainly look like they could come in handy." Revenant offered his hand for a handshake, carefully keeping his blades clear of the new member's arm and hand.

Jess smiled at Revenant-Lee, sure she'd made the right decision for once. Two people in a guild had to be lonely sometimes, and now there were four. Sure, the fourth may control water - something Jess hadn't been too sure about since early childhood - but he looked friendly enough. Everything was going to be fine. Right?

A small, mouselike man walked in, bearing dozens of brochures. He efficiently handed them out to each of the new members as if he knew them all from memory. He then strode to the front of the room. "Listen, please. Everybody present, please listen. Attention, please?" Though evidently high ranking, the man had very little presence, almost like a gnat flitting along the edges of a herd of cattle.
Amai was among the first to notice him, turning to face the man. A few others noticed soon after, and eventually the entire group caught on. They all turned to watch him, moving with a restless uneasiness.
"Greetings, all of you. I come here as the official APCARP liason to all new Powers to our organization. My job is to explain our system to you. As you all already know, APCARP is a covert government organization created to help those of us with powers beyond that of the normal human being to find a living and avoid causing disruptions in the lives of those who are not as fortunate as we are."
"The primary income for APCARP is funding from all participant nations, but we also have another source for funding. That is where you, the Powers, come in." The man paused, attempting drama. "We accept and carry out missions, in exchange for additional funding from those who need our assistance."
"In APCARP, all Powers are provided with liveable conditions, training facilities, and medical treatment for free. However, to gain things for a more advanced standard of living, one must work for APCARP. By working for APCARP, you can earn credits towards making purchases, such as more luxurious living quarters, better meals, and many other such things. Jobs vary from going on missions to food preparation. You should be able to find all requests for workers requested on a bulletin board at the end of your hallway."
"Any questions?"

Rob raised his hand. "If the cooks give me a shitty meal, am I allowed to stick them to the floor?" He asked semi politely. "And what the hell is with the brochure?" He looked it over, various living quarters, power charts, ect ect. "Hey, this thing says everything you just said, exept better... Why are you here?"

"Maybe you should shut your mouth," Elliot snapped at Rob. A dozen water blades formed in the air around him, each of them freezing over to form pointy ice-swords of doom. Elliot glared at Rob, the swords around him shaking slightly as he did so.
"Or your career here will be a very short one."

Rob turned up the gravity around him, and the 'ice swords of doom' nearest him snapped to the ground. "I certainly hope your not threatening me." He said slowly, his voice cold as ice, and sharp as razors. Everyone else around him shivered. "I have...very bad reactions. When people threaten me." He said, turning up the gravity several more notches, and the ground around him started to dent and warp as the gravity overcame the strength of the material. "You should cool your head, before you get hurt."
