I dread it's time to put ol' Ledian out to pasture. She simply... doesn't really do anything, even with effort to maximize her offensive output. Dual screens is nice, but killing the opponent right away is better. So I'll probably train up Araquanid instead. Also, Feather Dance Oricorio vs. Totem Mimikyu is hilarious. You can get them to mimic it and use it back, so if you're really lucky, you blow their first two turns and put them down to a palty -6 stages of attack. As for Z-Moves, personally I like them, but that's because I enjoy the fact that they give you a use for those "so limited with drawbacks that they're useless" moves. Nothing like powering out a 200 power Z-Move off of Self Destruct or Hyper Beam. I actually find they're a lot more useful and less broken than Megas, which typically roflstomped everything.

Also Z-Haze/Heal Bell is fucking crazy. Just saying.
And Z-Splash on Gyarados is just plain dirty pool.
I haven't had a chance to test it, but Z-Belly Drum may be a serious, SERIOUS competitive contender.

Final party: Exeggcutor, Oricorio, Dugtrio, Lurantis, Primarina, Archeops
Not a bad team, good balance of aggro, stall, debuffs, and statuses. I wanted to throw a Bruxish in, but it's such BS to catch one that I had to give up.
Just wondering, what all self imposed challenges/rules do you guys play by? It sounds like P-hat was rocking a classic Nuzlocke, and I know Blood typically does a "No TMs, must finish the game in X hours" run.
I do a "Finish the game at a minimal level, only using Pokemon I've never used before on a playthrough (with the exception of some kanto mon in some games, because it could mean locking myself out of entire types)(Bonus points for deliberately avoiding any high-tier mons)" This time, I got to the elite four at level 42 for my party average, and actually beat all the way to the champion's last Pokmeon. But that level 60ish Decidueye is a WHUPPING against a party in the forties that just waded through five pokemon that outleveled them by ten levels. I decided to grind to 50 and try again, and beat the entire elite 4 decisively.

Oh, and my whole party has to be equally levelled, and no use of the Exp. Share/all item.

It sounds like P-hat was rocking a classic Nuzlocke Am still, with "no items in battle, and also no Z-moves unless I know it's a trainer who's got a Z-move of their own" clauses tacked on. I'm finishing things up on the third island and I've already lost so many companions. Like Waynwood the Rowlet, and Daenerys the Diglett, and Grenn the Croconaw, and Morag my dear sweet beautiful Mudsdale, and Rhaegal the Shelgon who was murdered within twenty-four hours by two bullshit fucking Wrap + Acid Spray Tentacool assholes, and POOR HODOR THE SLOWBRO. But I'm gonna win this thing. And it's Margaery my goddamned perfect Ribombee who's gonna see me through to the end. Just today she was due to get murdered by a Hypno's Psychic and Ledian's Air Slash, and she said "nuh-uh" and held on with one hit point because she loves the hell out of me instead.

I've actually semi-abandoned the hour restriction. Not because it's tough to keep, in a sense, but because I'm waiting on Kasanna to send me the final member of my main team and I've started working on my secondary team in the mean time. Otherwise you've the gist of it. No TMs, no Z-moves and any pokemon that gets into combat and gains experience on my main team stays on my main team. My main team includes; Brett (Decidueye), Archer (Toucannon), Koren (Persian), Dura (Vikavolt) and Etkvu (Jangmo-o).
There's also I rule I've only used once; any shiny pokemon captured is instantly added to the team if there's space available.

I am really struggling to play sun and moon, it just seems to leave me constantly underwhelmed and feels boring all the time. I'm barely enjoying any of the new mons, find the whole alola region shitty, and genuinely have a copy of sun sitting around doing nothing, I keep trying to play moon but even an 11 hour flight wasn't enough to actually get me to play the damn thing. Agree with you l00gs, genuinely can't stand Z-moves, and yeah fed up with gen 1 being "definitive" we got a few alola forms but only for a handful of gen 1, mostly turning them dark, woop dee fucking doo....

i was so happy with XY, too I fired up Y yesterday and I was astounded by how fast it was running. Compared to SM, XYORAS runs smooth as butter. That, um, that shouldn't be a thing. We shouldn't be going backwards??? Fuck this new trend of 1.5 console updates that make later games run like balls on the 1.0 console. Monster Hunter Generations also has terrible lag on my 3DSXL. I feel like my hand is being forced into dropping $150 on a New 3DS and that's bullshit

I just found out that Alola has no national dex and the choices that GF made this time around continue to frustrate and anger me
Dhelmise tho, Dhelmise can stay and party with me Honedge and Klefki. Every single genwunner who hates on the object-shaped Pokemon can get real dunked on

I've never really understood the hatred on object-shaped pokemon, especially by Gen-1 fans. I'll admit that I'm not overly fond of klefki's design, it looks a lot like baby toys that I've found in almost every household that's had someone at the age of two or less within it, but it's not really out there as a pokemon design. Not with magnets, piles of sludge and spheres running around in the past.

Let's show some love for the first object shaped Pokemon: Rotom.
That mother is a bad ass bitch and I love it. I've got a competitive perfect IV Rotom that I love so very, very much named Janus. I'll love that mon forever and ever.
BTW, Rotom-Wash is best Rotom.

More Gen VII Salt: why are these pokedex entries garbage and reading like a bad wikipedia article that some schmuck edited so it reads all subjective and useless
Goodra's entry: "It gets picked on because it's meek. But then, whoever teased it gets to feel the full force of its horns and a good swatting from its thick tail."
what the fuck did I just read also i'm very uncomfortable with goodra being described with words like 'thick' when i can go GIS goodra and get porn in the first few results

In actually mostly agree about Sun and Moon. The lack of trainer customisation compared to XY is kinda awful, the range of pokemon is anywhere between mediocre and slow, and the actual plot could have benefited from an awful lot of upgrading (why didn't whatshecalled villain have the UB as part of her team? There were like 20 in the area)
I disagree about the Z-Moves, though. I much prefer a Z-Move that can ruin a strategy to an Mega-Evolution that can wreck a team without trying. I don't get much use out of them in-game in general, but they're more reliable than having to switch out a Mega-Evolution and then losing that Mega-Evolution, and they also don't make it one-sided by having one OP Mega-Evolution that spoils in-game challenges.

Kinda want to run a Clefairy using Z-Splash and Meteor Mash as a physical sweeper. :3
(I'm strongly in agreement with El- I feel like Z moves add a ton more strategic depth than Mega Evolutions did, because it tacks onto what makes a Pokemon good, instead of completely upending it. I mean, who the flip was using Pidgeot as a Special Sweeper? I'll take powering a Z-move off of Brave Bird over that, any day. Basically- Mega Evos boost those exact mons, often in directions they weren't headed before, whereas Z-moves let you tweak every mon.)

Also, we can finally have actual glasses on our trainer, so I'm totally okay with customization. Would love a stubble option, but I get that TECHNICALLY our characters are like, ten or something?

Gotta agree with you there l00gs, the pokedex entries I think they're seeing exactly how far they can push =P
Finally finished the elite 4 a couple of days ago, final team was really just 5
Torracat - Blink Mimikyu - Mimi (formerly minge) Ribombee - Bullet Mudsdale - Derpyhooves Vikkavolt - Tickles
So as you can see I took the whole game very seriously, I did at one point have an entire team of vagina-slang named pokémon but got bored of it quite quickly, probably going to go with different names for breasts on my sun playthrough though, might even do it alphabetically for challenge but also as a funny way of keeping track of how my team changes over time.
Whats with having to catch 4 of the second ultra beast? I've not done any more but that seems a bit over the top especially as she has insane attacking stats, and the whole IV distribution change to non-evolving pokémon thing
Really, once I got Mimikyu, I didn't really use my other pokémon. I have tried out some Z moves now, but I really just think they're stupid, and taking up half the damn screen for them is ridiculous

so I somehow for the very first time in my 18 years playing Pokemon managed to catch Pokerus naturally instead of having it traded to me and spread that way. I feel really damn lucky, that shit's rarer than shinies
