Pokemon doesn't warm the cockles of my heart like it used to )':
this said, however, I'm usually apathetic during the reveals pre-release phase, and then I buy the game (because I always do, inevitably) and then it's another story
all my love to Mimikyu tho

I just hope this time they give the Team Leader some stuff with actual like, ability to survive. It could be due to my tendency towards glass cannon all in teams, but I haven't had a good fight with a Team Admin since Giovanni. I mean, I showed up ten levels underlevelled, and then I facking Farfetch'd swept Lysandre.
This time around, I'm planning on doing my usual grab a starter as an HM slave (Hi seal), and then using a Route 1 'mon as my starter (I'm going with the top percentage Ratata I find, and naming him Mousestache)

It's cool that a slightly younger Almudena made it into Sun/Moon.

I had to start with Hobbes, the Litten. I'll probably post up a team breakdown later, but now sleep.

I've already managed to replace the token early-game catches (the "Rattata", the bugs, and hopefully the "Pidgey" soon enough) with nicer options and I think that's pretty dope [EDIT] - Leech Life got turbo-buffed from base power 20 to 80 holy shit. and yet Gamefreak still refuses to buff Ice into an actual semi-viable defensive typing option. like look at least make it resistant to Water, that at least makes sense and would give it more than just one measly resistance. hell, personally I'd make Ice resistant to Bug as well but tbh Bug offense doesn't need another nerf so I'd probably make it resistant to Grass in that case bonus rant about gen 1 i guess: Can I also just add that I'm kinda tired of all the Gen 1 callbacks?? I mean, Pokemon Go, the Alolan forms... they're all restricted to the original 151... can we all please just maybe let go of Kanto already??? here's a straight-up Hot Takeâ„¢: GSC were far and away the superior games; still have the best post-game out of any gen by far, the music is amazing, it took what Gen 1 established and built on it in all the right ways, everything about Gen 2 blows Gen 1 out of the water sorry to break it to any Genwunners out there

So what happened to don't talk to my broke ass about Pokemon Sun/Moon don't do it just don't? funny thing about that; not even a day after I had written that, both Kuro and Babs (yeah remember those two??) jumped in and got me the game. I gave the other one to my bf so he could experience it too. Before he got X he hadn't played a game since gen 1 so it's been cute watching him react to the 600+ pokemon he hasn't even seen yet It was in the middle of the art sale too so needless to say someone's getting a lovely thank you sketch in the mail

Hey also before I forget, you should play through the demo if you haven't already because there's a couple of goodies you can transfer to the full game, including an Ash-Greninja and a few other top-shelf items

It's cool that a slightly younger Almudena made it into Sun/Moon. Please tell me she doesn't actually use Pokemon, she just one-punches her way through your whole party.

For the first time, I'm doing a Nuzlocke on my initial playthrough (as opposed to later). Not for the first time, the theme for the nicknames is Game of Thrones characters/houses. Right now my party (less a few reserves in the PC) consists of Waynwood the Rowlet, Samwell the Makuhita, Tobho the Magnemite, Margaery the Cutiefly, Alliser the Zubat, and of course, Daenerys the Diglett. Because she's a girl and she is destined to evolve into a fabulous three-headed blonde. The only casualty so far is Joffrey the Yungoos. I called him Joffrey because both Joffrey Baratheon and the Yungoos/Gumshoos line remind me a lot of Donald Trump in different ways. Anyway Joffrey the Yungoos was a little shit and Samwell killed him before being caught, so fuck yeah, Sammy.

Right now I'm working towards postgame with a pretty solid team but there are a couple of changes that I want to make. The squad is as follows:
Hobbes the Incineroar Sam the Toucannon London the Lycanroc Budweiser the Mudsdale Titan the Golisopod Ironhide the Kommo-o
The main weak link in my team right now is Lycanroc. She's a good mon and by far the fastest member of the team but he's just so weak to so much. Rock has way to many weaknesses for such a attack oriented mon. Strongly looking into replacing her with a Dhelmise.

Currently, playing through with this team: -Boop (Ledian) -Popeye (Brionne) -Aurora (Diglet) -Snidely (Ratata) -Name I forgot (Oricorio, lightning form)
I've been running with just five slots because nothing else has really compelled me yet. There's a lot of 'mons I like this gen, but none that really busted into my favorite list. Wishi Washi looked cool, but it's an unholy roflstomp against most teams, and I really want more of a challenge than that.

If it's annoying, it calls another one of itself, and does it just often enough that you can't keep them all killed (Zubat, other confusion spammers)
If it ISN'T annoying, it calls another fucking Trumbeak. Doesn't matter what species it is, it will call a Trumbeak, which will immediately spam Supersonic in your face.
I've actually made sure that every one of my party members has a "Shotgun" attack for taking care of the little bastards (Swift on Ledian, Air Cutter on Oricorio, Magnitude on Dugtrio, Rock Slide on Archen, angling to get Surf on my starter) (Yes, Ratata got replaced with Archen, since they largely fill the same roll and Archen does a much better job)

wow calling for allies is literally the most annoying mechanic introduced to pokemon I've been screaming about this right here ever since I got the game tbh as pretty as it is and as refreshing as the setting is (best we've had in years) I can't help but feel like when I look back on it in retrospect, Gen VII is gonna fall into the middle of the road as far as the series as a whole goes. They really didn't do a good job with the mechanics this time around. They pushed one of the better mechanics they've ever introduced aside (Megas) and replaced them with Z-Moves which are 1) largely underwhelming and 2) so tedious with their really long cutscene that if I know I can get the job done with a regular move (and I almost always can) I just use the regular move and get it over with I mean like?? Megas allowed for a little more variety with how you plan your strategies. Z-Moves are just like. Oh it's like a Kamehameha. That's nice I guess which makes me sad because everyone around me loves this generation and thinks it's the Best One Everâ„¢ meanwhile I'm sitting here like..... SOS can kiss my ass
