Over my lifetime, I have collected numerous things, normally to find out that whatever I'm collecting is completely worthless to everyone else in the world but myself, or I just get bored/distracted and so rarely finish a collection. I was looking at the "what you've been up to" thread and reading about keyboards, fountain pens and monster high dolls I realised we don't have a collections thread. Now I understand this could easily start going way out of control but I expect that =P I have a few things I collect these days, I wouldn't know if I'd say I collect or play pokémon cards only because I have so many and am constantly buying more to make new decks with, but aside from the shoeboxes filled with old cards from when I was a kid, I've got thousands of pokémon cards from the last 5 years, I would need to attempt to put them in some sort of display rather than being in multiple locations over my house in order to actually post a picture of them unfortunately. My most important collection though, that has cost me more than I am willing to admit, is my Super Sentai memorabilia.
That's most of it.... not a ridiculously huge collection in itself, but I've been working on it for the last few years since Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger came out. That's when my main focus of my collection came into play, now in the bottom corner of that picture, you can see a treasure chest. The gimmick for Gokaiger was ranger keys, of every past sentai from 1977-2012 to celebrate 35 years of super sentai. There were 199 keys initially in the series, and over 18 months (not even just a year, they kept this damn thing going!) they released all 199 over a variety of different means. I have 192 of the 199 and several collections of rangers and other heroes that have been made into keys since, it's a collection that I genuinely have spent too much of my life, including 2 weeks in japan, dedicating myself to try and complete. Here's a couple close-ups of my chest To say it's literally overflowing is an understatement, I'm actually on the hunt for a bigger chest that I can model to be closer to show accurate to hold them all, especially as there's 30 more keys in a box, I've actually had to be quite creative in how I've been able to fit so many in, utilising the lid and the wall behind the chest to actually hold more in. I had to take a few things off the shelf to do this, but this is what I mean I don't know if I have a hobby, a problem, or too much access to disposable income, but I love my keys, when I get the rest my next task will be to make plinths for each sentai team made from their logo, which I will be 3D printing =) So who's got collections to talk about/show etc =)

This looks like a fun thread. I get to know people a little better and share pictures of my pets. I've got two things I like to collect. The first are my ball python's sheds (particularly the faces). I currently having the first and only shed of my first pet snake being turned into a clear resin pendant. I'd collect my leopard Gecko's sheds, but she eats them, And all of my cat's sheds are stored on my clothes. (Alice: actually a muffin) (Pinta: actually a noodle) (Angel: actually a dragon) and then I collect Magic the Gathering cards. I've been collecting since first grade, and my roommate and I combined our collections. We got a LOT. More specifically I have a handful of pages in a binder dedicated to what started as a collection of the wurm creature cards, but then broadened into gorgons when Vraska came out, then snakes, and finally naga after Kahns of Tarkir released. I also sort of collect Garruk planeswalker cards.

I'm not shocked a book like that exists, what shocks me is that it's not started replacing gideon's bible in hotels around the world.
Cards are an addiction aren't they, just one more pack, you might get the card you need haha. Love the idea of making a pendant from your python's sheds though, you'll have to post a picture of that when it arrives =)

[/URL] So, I bought 5 nail varnish holders, and did something awesome with my collection. I'm actually really pleased with the results, I spent so much time looking for a decent treasure chest for all of my keys, but putting them on display I think looks just that much better. There are 200 keys there, only 1 incomplete team on display, I still haven't finished the original 199 key set, although I have recently purchased a few more from japan, when they arrive I will have 2 teams missing 2 members (green and yellow for both oddly) so I'll probably have to get another stand. I'll be back in japan at the end of november and specifically going on a hunt for the 4 missing keys and some of the sets that have been released since that I've not managed to get yet. Anyone up for a math problem? When I finish all the teams, I wanted to put them all in team-order on the shelves. However that poses a problem as due to the varying sizes of teams, you end up having teams wrapping around the end of the shelves. I do not want this. Instead I want to organise the 200 keys in such a way that every shelf starts on a red ranger, and every slot is filled. I have spent too many hours trying to work out combinations for this to be feasible and i believe due to the varying team sizes potentially impossible, but maybe I'm just overthinking things, certainly I'm happy to put the whole problem up if anyone has the energy to work it out for me haha

@ Krazy Glue = Awww dang. So close to finishing it. That's awesome. My best bud Carl would love seeing that collection (he owns every ranger key that has been sold here in the US... but that isn't quite as cool as having all 199, that's for sure). You'd love seeing what he collects. His entire apartment is filled with toys and collectibles from multiple Power Rangers' series (mostly Gokaiger and Kyoryuger), Kamen Rider (owns nearly every toy/eye-con from KR Ghost), Nintendo Amiibo figures (keeps them in their boxes and hangs them on the walls... like art!), and a ton of anime figurines (mostly from Yu-Gi-Oh, SAO, and shoujo series like Cardcaptor Sakura, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Daybreak Illusion, Love Live, etc.).
As for the kinds of things that I collect, well here ya go =
Anime figurines: A big chunk of 'em are from my major faves (Yu-Gi-Oh and One Piece being the two I have the most from), from classics (Dragon Ball, DBZ, DBGT, Cyborg 009, Black Jack, Tenchi Muyo, etc.), a few mecha (Gundam Wing's Deathscythe Hell Custom, Captain Gundam and Wing Zero from SD Gundam Force, and Gurren Lagann from TTGL), a ton of Pokémon collectibles/memorabilia, or stuff from series that have almost zero collectibles and it's a miracle I got what I have (tiny figure of "Tenko" from The Law of Ueki being most cherished of these; TLoU is one of my top 5 fave series of all time).
Videogame Memorabilia: Have tons of Nintendo game-related things (huge amount of small and large posters, various toys, cups/shot glasses, stickers, etc.), figurines of fave characters from Final Fantasy games (Cloud, Sephiroth, Irvine, Seifer, Zidane, and Auron), figurines from Tales of Phantasia (Claus F. Lester and Dhaos), a ton of Mario Bros. stuff (too much to list here), and figurines from several Legend of Zelda games (OoT, TP, WW, etc.).
Swords and other cool weaponry: I prefer to have the real thing, but on occasion have purchased plastic or wooden ones if they look awesome enough. Most prized items in the entire collection = my slender-bladed sword called "Elegantine" (real steel and very sharp; has a metal pommeled, spiral-carved wood handle that's like 7 different shades of blue, green and grey), a white-handled bamboo Shinai (the real kind that's used in Kendo, and high quality craftsmanship), a shinobi-tou (made of wood, but it doesn't look like it), a wooden replica of Sasuke Uchiha's "Kusanagi" sword from Naruto Shippuden, a black shuriken (resembles the small ones from Naruto; I'm not sure what kind of metal it's made out of, though), and an antiqued-bronze mage staff that's topped with a chameleon tail-like spiral piece (and the whole thing is pretty heavy in weight, being real metal; super dangerous if I ever tried hitting someone with it, that's for sure).
Pirate & Seafaring Adventure-inspired things: Since I was very little, I've always been fascinated by pirates and having adventures aboard the grand ships of old. And my sister's passion for it is even greater than mine, so she actually has the cooler stuff of our collection (but we view our collection as one we share, so doesn't matter who contributed what). Recently this passion has grown stronger, not only because I got back into loving One Piece, but also since my father decided to do serious family tree digging to learn more about the further past of his family... and we discovered why we probably love this stuff so much - it's in our blood! We're descendants of a brave French-Canadian pirate named Francois Benoit dit Livernois, whom along with his son Touissant, joined up with America against the British during the Revolutionary War. He fought in the Battle of Quebec, and wasn't afraid of the enemy even when they managed to capture him in 1775. Later on his son used his veteran status gained in the war to buy himself some land in New York, retired from being a pirate, and for reasons currently unknown changed his last name to what our family name is today ("LaVanway"; I think he did it because of how awkward/hard it was to write and pronounce Benoit dit Livernois).
Favorite Manga: Series that're complete = The Law of Ueki, Buso Renkin, Et Cetera, and Return to Labyrinth; Stand-alones = Gundam Wing: Episode Zero, Disgaea 1, Disgaea 2, and Legends of the Dark Crystal (sadly there's only one because the series got discontinued; was meant to go much farther); Series that're near-finished/unfinished = Fullmetal Alchemist (needs last 5 volumes to complete, but been unable to afford/find them), Get Backers (own the first 3 volumes, and can't finish since TokyoPop went out of business and its stuff's been disappearing rapidly from shelves), Naruto (own the first 9 volumes, but lost interest in continuing the collection when I found out they'd dumbed down translations of it after the anime dub came out on TV), Bleach (only own the first 4 volumes; basically wanted to just get ones introducing main characters up to like the Soul Society/Rescue Rukia saga, but haven't been able to afford more for a while), and Rosario Vampire (only have the 1st volume, which is sad since I really love this series a lot; just can't afford to get more and don't even know if I can find them anymore, either).
American Tankoban: Own almost every physical copy of the American version of Shonen Jump (missing the rare "Issue Zero"), as well as every copy of Yen Plus
Polished Rocks & Anything Gemstone-like: Since I was kid, I've had a major love for geology and the study of gems. So... I started collecting all kinds of rocks, both unpolished and polished, as well as cool fake gems and colorful stones often used in flower vases or fish aquariums (some of these I've even used for damage counters for the Pokémon TCG, too... LOL).
