I have no idea who I want to put on board, well, at least, as my third dude. I'm pretty set on Lacy (and Natalie as her handler) this time around, but I'm trying to keep down to a sane number of characters. In LTR, I had: Nopcsa Giguere Zebedee Helen Natalie Thyra Emily Dace *Prime Reba Narcissa Lacy Berthold George
It killed my ability to handle that thread, and largely was part of what killed the entire topic. This time around, instead, I'm sticking to a fairly hard line three character limit (with possible fourth slot if I come up with a brilliant idea later).
Characters I'm considering: Bebeodan Thistledown: A fairy lawyer would be utterly bizarre in the topic, but I think she'd be amusingly weird and give us a lot to play with.
Thyra: Thyra and Natalie pal around as besties is something we haven't seen since Crystal Part 2, and even then it was stifled by Summoner issues. Could be fun. On the other hand, Thyra doesn't add as much to the thread as some of my other characters, since she's a very natural fit for it.
Garth: He can teleport into and out of space. That's gotta be worth something. Not really sure what he'd do up here, though.
Kendil Booker: Nothing really stopping her from showing up- Brings some exotic mystical flavor without being as massively derailing as Bebeodan. But on the other hand, she really doesn't have much to distinguish her from Nat here.
Maydell Shouse: Very different mood from my other ladies. I know Loogs will pull hard for this one... I just can't see what I'd really be doing with her. But she could be a viable choice.

Where exactly is this plot occurring in the ORP timeline in regard to...I dunno...EVERYTHING ELSE?
I feel like this needs to be answered, especially in Lee's case since three of the characters he's considering are already currently in other plots that are supposedly taking place right now in the present day give or take.
Also, what exactly is the plot here? Where is this leading to? Where is the ship supposed to be going? I feel like I might want to get in on this, but it's rather hard to create a character to fit into something like this when you don't even know what's supposed to be going on. It's like co-writing a novel with multiple people, but only one or two even know what the plot line is.
Kinda hard to do.

I can't answer re: timelines but Luxury Rides typically don't have like, a center plot, they're several mini-plots running at once. they're opportunities to just kick back and have fun with a character. they're pretty great for introducing a new character too, because there isn't that pressure that a big-name Plotâ„¢ brings and you can just take time to get into the voice of a character without having to worry about bringing your AAA writing game.
idk that's my take on it

Yeah, like Loogs said, Luxury rides are purely social topics where you get to have fun, develop existing relationships, or introduce new characters. For example, with the current posts, I'm introducing Alia, and Biscuit is developing Waylon's criminal empire. I'll also be bringing in Rie for some post Head Games character development. May even bring in Nick or Price as more than background characters to make them proper nouns.
While I do have a loose itinerary and some events planned (unlike previous iterations), Luxury rides are all about letting conflicts and storylines grow organically so don't feel constrained by any plot. The first two iterations had the major plot thread being "how do we sneak/steal our way onto the vessel?" and "what am i going to eat?" and silly things like that.
As far as timeline goes, LSR occurs after everything else currently running.
If you're having trouble figuring out how your character got on the ship in the first place, yeah, I messed that up in the intro by not making any obvious ins. If you don't want to be rich, don't want to stow away, or don't want to be part of the staff, you can say you won a contest/lottery. Some of the investors could have raffled off rooms and whatnot.
@lee: should we just do a Terminer field trip into space to bring Garth along

I feel like this needs to be answered, especially in Lee's case since three of the characters he's considering are already currently in other plots that are supposedly taking place right now in the present day give or take. Good question-- Each new RP, unless otherwise specified, takes place chronologically after all preceding RPs, even those that haven't finished yet (which is... most of them). So Lee could enter Kendil on the spaceship, for example, and that doesn't cause a contradiction just because Kendil is "also" in Ucalegon "at the moment" from our perspective. In-universe, LSR takes place after Ucalegon's conclusion unless anyone has any active reason not to want it so.

I feel I should also point out that there are many RoBies! It's an ad campaign/promotional event carried out by the company to introduce their product to the world so several were allotted to the Lady Valentina. All VIPs get a personal RoBie for their suite (so if you're an Alia or a Wolfgang, enjoy your personal robot butler) and there are additional RoBies in general service all over the ship for the rest of the passengers. They're bringing your drinks, fetching ice, carting away laundry, you name it. So, in your future interactions onboard the Valentina, make sure you're including ugly silver robots in your dialogue!

so i was thinking of the timeline in more concrete proportions again just to figure out what's going on with Rie. Head Games aired in winter 2010 and LSR aired in spring 2016. IRL time puts that at a 5.75ish year difference. And this makes Rie a bit confusing, so I pulled stuff out of my butt and am now declaring this 5 year split to be canon and now she is slightly less confusing.

we are now flying away, but for all of you who have not posted, do not fear. There is a reason we are starting in space: since no one had to make a post describing how they got onboard, everyone can just assume they've been onboard the entire time. Tada.

hey yall, listen, you know one of the awesome things about Luxury Rides is that you get to forge brand new inter-character relationships with new characters, right? We're 12 posts in and we've yet to actually interact with each other. Let's start making small talk or something I don't know. Ivan and Dimitri are chill bros I promise
