Depends on what he is trying to accomplish. Is he trying to scare them? Cthulian type monsters: Intimidate them to try to convince them to fight harder? Teaching asymmetric warfare?

Depending on continuity, I can throw some stuff out for enemies.

I think I've got general ideas for enemies figured out. Let's just put it this way... the plot will involve a wager between Silumas and Sly, while Thyra's off on some errand. And yes, there will be lots of Alumdena. Chingo de Almudena (though that phrasing might by highly inappropriate, I'm sure it's the one Alma herself would insist on.

As an aside, the main party I'm thinking we'll be rocking will be Almudena, Garth, Flint, and Ben, with Deandre coming along but acting more as an assist character than a fighter. Alma is Alma, Garth and Ben allow me to work in lots of cute shipping stuff, and Flint is kinda the unofficial fourth man. (Of course, this leaves me to ask myself how many downsides I want to work into people's abilities. Since three of them have superpower-meltdown potential, it means that I could make one of the focuses of the game managing their powers so that they don't burn themselves out. That said, it could either be immersive, or obnoxious.)

Quite fittingly, on my first playtest of the combat system, I'd forgot to click "Apply Changes" for the stats I gave everybody after adding three new character slots. So Almudena proceeded to rampage across the group of enemies, while Garth, Flint, and Ben all went down in one hit each. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is how Alma actually views the world. (Notably, despite Garth and Flint getting rocked, Ben managed to dodge getting mauled by slimes all the way until the second to last round of combat)
I've also decided I'm going to have a full-walkaround of campus available from the start with no real enemies (beyond the occasional scamp), so people can explore at will and meet all the students, and then if they want a slightly more in depth experience, they can progress to the main game (which of course will reward people for thoroughly exploring before shtuff hits the fan).

2003. It might be primitive, but for somebody with limited time to commit to spriting resources and programming, it works quite well.

Currently using this as the battle theme with the tempo at 110% (1.1x speed). I think it works pretty well, especially since I've been using Concrete Man's theme to write Almudena since 2013. That said, I'd like to have a rotating set of battle musics (trumped only for boss battles, naturally). Any idea what sort of battle theme we should have for Flint and Ben? Ideally it can be pretty much anything, though I'd prefer if we stayed far away from the most recognizable stuff (like stuff recognizable to the point of distration, like One-Winged Angel or MIDI versions of top 40 music hits) I'm currently trying to suss out a good one for Garth, myself. I'm debating on what to do for Deandre, since he's an honorary party member, even if he doesn't fight. (e.g., does he get a battle theme in the rotation?)(Functionally, he's more like an Assist Character)

Deandre continues to be the closest character to being able to carry a novel series by himself. If it wouldn't be such a huge labor, it'd be fun to actually try writing a young adult novel with him and Alma as the main characters. (Maybe with an Animorph style alternating viewpoint between chapters) But right now, we've got bigger fish to fry.
If I may ask a personal question, Pohatu, is Deandre's focus on the beauty that other people can create a bit of a personal thought? I've noticed a theme, between Deandre, Terrian, and Flynn, that your characters tend to feel like they're artistically inadequate next to others. Then again, this could just be me overanalyzing things again.

Aww, you're too kind.
Somehow, Deandre has definitely ended up putting something unexpectedly personal onto the page, so funnily enough, it feels unsurprising that you noticed a resonance between him and Flynn (the deliberate caricature of my flaws), even though that wasn't intended. When it comes to Terrian, I don't remember what you're referring back to - maybe he was feeling inadequate next to the mages at the Shin-Ra festival? I think that's just a function of my tendency to create extremely narrow powers and write them off as "mutations" and the like rather than practiced magical abilities. Channery evinced similar feelings in the "seatbelt" flashback with Illiana.

Need to fix animation for Garth... For a while, his default battle stance was "continuous pelvic thrusting". Pictured: Garth's default combat stance. Kinda put Bows in a whole new light, doesn't it?

Hey! I saw there was a little confusion with my post. Belwyn was actually talking and interacting with Kilik before she bent down to Garth. That's why she didn't remember the name. I'll look at it again and see if I can write a better differentiation.

Said it before when you bounced it off me, and I'll say it again: Post of the Year material, El.
I'm glad Alma and Emma Ray Jo have demos next, so I can lighten the mood after all these emotional kidney punches. : 3

One of the fashionistas purloins Thyra's phone. They use its linkup to the school to pull a variety of pranks. However, Carlos stumbles into some very... emotionally distressing messages for Thyra, and gets guilty, and where it goes from there is up to El. Just gonna throw out that I'm cool with this idea. It seems super cool and I think I know where to go with it

Lee, you really need to post Paisanos, by the way. We deserve to see Almudena's origins. Right now my only point of reference for "Paisanos" is... you know.

Who's Left: McCrowley, Emma Ray Jo (Lee) Nekketsu, Harue (Cendra) Qadir, Jamall (El) Salazar, Dalisay (Lee) Weir., Nessa (DL) Eira and Aodhan (Cendra) Ginnungagap, Kilik (El) Russell, Thyra (Lee) Schwartzwald, Emily (Lee) Silumas (Moose) Soledad, Marius (DL) Truid, Belwyn (Cendra)
We should probably start planning (and working on!) our student teacher conferences. Pohatu, is your guidance counselor idea a viable entity yet, or?
I'm thinking I'll give Thyra more open spots on her schedule, since it's likely the most students will want to talk with her.
Thyra: Almudena Garth Eira - - - - - - - - -
Emily: Dalisay Ty - - -
Marius: Aodhan - - - -
Silumas: - - - - -
Belwyn: Nessa Harue Flint - -
Kilik: Carlos Jesse - - -
Sai: Deandre - - - -
I'm not sure who I'll throw Emma Ray Jo at. I'm leaning Silumas, but I could go Belwyn.

Oh yeah, guidance counselor is happening. His name's Sai. You can book him for Deandre.
It... wouldn't make any sense for him to do a power demonstration.

Should we book anybody else for him, or? What's the general personality type? Right now we've got businesslike (Thyra), giddy (Emily), easygoing (Kilik), militant (Marius), sweet (Belwyn), and megalomaniacal (Silumas). I'm just curious what his demeanor's like, to see if there's any students he'd compliment better than our more prominent faculty.

Close to the easygoing type. Compassionate, but a touch awkward. Makes weak jokes. Good with kids but maybe a little too eager to play the "worldly wise" type when he's actually not the king of confidently navigating this world either.
