So, it's time for another one to come about. The last one was small, but went really well, and we've got the pieces falling into place for an even better one.
Date: August 3rd/4th, 2013 Time: Between 10:00 AM between 6:00 PM Location: TBA, either in Falconer Park (Falconer, NY), the gym of the Jamestown SDA church building (Jamestown, NY), or Lee's House (Randolph, NY) Refreshments and meals will be provided. Vegetarian and kosher cuisine will be provided, but if you have any other dietary limitations, please inform me and BloodWolf.
Confirmed to be Attending: BloodWolf Cendra Shoni Myself SV Diamond Princess Fleetwolf
Possible Attendees: Pohatu Shadowtamer Clicker
Events: Notebook RPs: We'll be running multiples at this get together. The one we've got confirmed is a sequel to Funeral Pyre for a Fuzzball, featuring Shoni and Cendra. If we can get Pohatu up here, another one we'd like to tackle is the much bandied about Shadowplay (I'm not sure how we'd handle Choobs and Vieve; either we can tell him what's going on and have him dictate his posts, or he could join in once it's uploaded to the Exodus)
Live Action Mafia: I'd like to run a game of Mafia throughout the day. It'll be a fairly simple game, probably without inventory or any one-time powers or such. I'll be posting the rules some time soon for review. If anybody would like to assume hosting duties instead of me, I'll gladly let them take over and I'll become a player.
Writing Clinic: Well, nothing quite so official, but I'll be glad to be pulled aside to help any Exodite polish up their writing, or to help them grind through a post they've been having trouble making.
Boardgames: All manner of boardgames! Scrabble, four-player Chess, Uno, etc. Though I doubt they'll be the main focus of the day, they'll certainly be present.
That's all we have planned so far. If anybody has any other suggestions or ideas, or would like to attend, inform me so that I can update the information here.
Lodgings: Anybody who would like to stay overnight Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, let me know. We've got a few spare beds/couches at my family's place, and we're also thinking of setting up tents for anybody who would like to camp out on our property (the Tupper household is out in the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle. It's quite pretty up there)

My apologies to those of you who are too far to make it to NY. (Kuro, Kara, the Mississippi folk, the gorgeous Brits) New York is a quite nice centralized location for a lot of members (All of our active staff except Choobs live within three hours of Jamestown), but it is somewhat tucked away in a corner. If anybody has a suggestion for a more southerly location for a meetup, like something centralized between the Texan members and the Mississippi crowd, I'd love to get something going down South. Not sure how or if I'd make it, but I've always felt bad leaving out people due to geography. (Poor Kara is like a whole continent away from the rest of us, and she's the most devoted Con attendee I can think of! )

Also, SV, if it's just a matter of finances, don't worry about it. I'll gladly chip in some money towards getting you up here. (I suppose this offer extends to everybody who is considering attending and is less than three tanks of gas away, though I'm not sure who else would really be up for it.)

Just out of curiosity, Loogs, why Minneapolis instead of down in the Carolinas? Strictly speaking, the Carolinas may be the ideal meeting spot for the Exodus as a whole, since they're the most central location for all of us east coast authors. I mean, if I remember locations correctly, it's actually under an 11 hour drive for the folks in Mississippi, and all of us Northerners are actually closer to the Carolinas than we are to Minneapolis. (I won't be changing the location for this year's meetup, but next Summer certainly holds possibilities.)

Really, when you consider Bulbs and DL and the Exodites on the west coast, the ideal meet up location is probably in Tennessee. ;D
No one wants to go to dragon*con and get ignored by you, choobs. And by no one, I mean me.

Now, a question for the people attending: What ruleset would you like to see for Mafia? I know 3 is DEAD out, since it was overblown and ungodly complicated. Five has some people wanting to see it again, two and four both were quite well received, and I have a pared down version I made for introducing new players as well. Mafia 5The big problem with 5 is that it's complicated for newer players. You get to pick your roles, but you don't really know what roles suit you yet! Normal needs revising as well, since it's too precarious to function in most games (There's no guarantees against all the other Normal players being of the opposite faction.) Poison was also fairly dull, but I think I already know a devious solution... On the bright side, you're guaranteed to get a role you like, and it has no monetary system for me to lop off for simplicity's sake. Very few of the powers can arbitrarily extend the game, either, which makes it good at holding to a timetable. I'm having a spot of trouble finding the rules for IV and II at the present moment. Though I don't have a nicely compiled list, this could be a start. Upon review, 2's resurrection heavy game doesn't lend itself to a limited timetable. The new rules are extra simple for ease of learning and ease of play, but Blood pointed out to me, it might be unfair to run a game with new rules in an exclusive location. It means Mafia stalwarts like Kuroboom and Rupert would miss out on it, which would be somewhat unfair. Other interesting options: -Non-Lee Host: If Pohatu ends up attending, I bet he'd be a much better host than I would from the dramatic standpoint. However, with uncertainty about the rules and the number of attendees, I've yet to offer it to him. Blood has offered to host as well, something he prefers greatly over playing, in order to help stretch our number of players. -Telecommute: I'm not sure how many players we could support in this way, but if anybody was game for being put on speaker phone for ten minutes or so per hour throughout Sunday, we could probably support one or two players who aren't physically present. -Put it on Tape!: It's fully possible that we could record each session throughout the day, and then upload it episodically on Youtube to draw some attention to the Exodus.

Wait, snap, Testbug is from Ohio? If that's so, it's fully possible he's less than an hour from Jamestown. I must examine this further.

SV you HAVE TO come to d*c. PLEASE. it is so fun.
also ch00bs we HAVE TO hang at d*c. it's obviously not weird since we have already chilled IRL. instead of staying in crappy roswell i am crashing like two miles away so i can like, 'RAGE.' by 'rage' of course i mean 'hang out in the board game area playing weird board games for hours and hours at a time.'
also asmo you should TOTES come to d*c. also since i only post like once a month i should tell you that in september i'm totally going to be somewhere near that place you live on tour. we're definitely playing in milwaukee but trying to find a show in madison or lacrosse or something also. uhhh anyway
also i've spent/am spending more time in new york this year than the rest of my life put together but not during this thing, lols.
