Andrew tugged his top off, stretching the soft material slightly as he pulled it over his head, and folded it up, placing it in his bag neatly on top of his jeans. He slid his trainers on top of his t-shirt, and zipped the bag up as he slung his towel over his shoulder. He threw his bag over his shoulder and unlocked the door of his cubicle in the changing rooms. After fumbling with some money for a minute, he threw his bag into he locker and walked into the main hot springs room.
"One Island has gotta have the best hot springs in Kanto, right, Marril?" Andrew said, smiling down at his pokemon.
"Marrrrril!" Marill squeaked happily. Andrew bent down and lifted Marill up, holding his pokemon close in his arms as he made his way to the only unoccupied hot spring, dropping his towel at the side of the spring and sliding in. Marill let out a high-pitched squeak and dived into the water, splashing Andrew.
"Heeeeeey! Watch it, Marill," Andrew said, smiling. "Gel took me an hour this mornin', bad hair day." Marill smiled up at Andrew as he did the backstroke across the water.
"Ahhhh," Andrew said, sliding into the water a little more, submerging his body up to his chin. "That's better..."
The hot water was exhilerating - Andrew, so far, had spent most of the day on his feet, tracking down some ingredients for his mother, who was a pokemon chemist. They were hidden all over Two Island, one hidden right near the top of the mountain, and another hidden under three foot of sand. He could feel the water helping his aching muscles relax, and restore themselves. There was nothing better than a hot spring... except maybe Lavaridge's sand. Andrew took a long, deep breath.
"Wouldn't it be something, Marill," Andrew said, "if the legends 'bout Mount Ember were true? Y'think Moltres really is there?"
"'Riiiiill," Marill replied, flipping in the water and then diving into the water.
"Yeah..."
Andrew slid down a little more, submerging his mouth and nose, and closed his eyes, thinking. Yes, it would be something to see Moltres in real life. And even if it wasn't there, maybe he could get a new friend... Magmars lived around there...
"Hey Marill," Andrew said, standing up. "We're off to Mount Ember. Fancy looking for a legendary bird?"
No more than five minutes later, Andrew was stood at the base of Mount Ember, staring up. It was a lot bigger close up. Andrew was having second thoughts. However, the thought of seeing Moltres up close, feeling the intense heat of those flames, the ear-splitting cry... Andrew took a deep breath, and started his ascent of the mountain.
