A flash of light and a thunderous roar proceeded a dead silence. All was quiet and still now. A light cloud of dust hung in the air of the long dead forest. Ancient tree trunks began to crumble and fall. The long forgotten sound of footsteps crushing the dry branches and twigs began to ring out. Dark clouds began to form high above. The rumbling masses of gaseous water loomed like high gothic ceilings in a church of times past and the forest seemed to be the creaky floor that rang out while a lone visitor marched towards the alter. The crumbling sticks that were once powerful elm trees finally allowed the visage of the source of the commotion to appear.
A man, appearing to be eighteen years old but much wiser that others of his age, appeared in the gloom of the decaying woods. He was clad in clothing far older than himself but they seemed to accent the expression on his face. A pair of ancient blue shorts made of a rough cloth clad his legs and ran down into a pair of dusty white stockings that covered his sandaled feet. His slightly ratty red shirt was partially covered by a old white jacket that seemed to be a part of an old religious robe. His wrists were slightly stiffened by a pair of leather wrist bands as he brushed his light amber hair out of his face. On one of the figures shoulders sat a rich brown teddy bear like figure. A golden crescent moon cast in fur graced its forehead. It’s golden muzzle was rounded like its ears and tail. It held one paw to its mouth as if it was eating something from it. The pair strode along the dead path with a form of determination in both of their faces.
As they neared the edge of the thicket of dead trees the lights of a city appeared before them. The golden glow of street lights and houses reflected off the pairs eyes and cast long shadows into the forest behind them. The man cast a glance at the furry creature on his shoulder and got a silent nod as an answer. The pair began down the steep slope but were interrupted by an explosion in the city. A cloud of smoke appeared and people began to scatter from the area. From the center of the smoke came a white figure on two legs. It bore large ears and a long tail, as well as battle scars from countless battles. A pair of purple claws burst from each arm and gleamed in the dull street lights. A black chain was wrapped around its neck with an upside-down cross cast in a black stone wrapped in a ruby colored rope.
The man glanced at his furry partner and grinned slightly. The pair descended the stone slope as a nearly sprinting pace, leaping over boulders and brush where they made themselves appear. As the mans feet came into contact with the asphalt of the city streets, their running pace increased. They seemed to move at the speed of sound through the streets. After a few moments the pair were resting on top of a building overlooking the area where the white creature was attacking everything in sight.
“Love, looks like we get two in one day. I would have never expected Eternity could be used for such destructive means. Let’s wait and see how the locals can do against Eternity before we step in.” the man said as his furry friend, Love, nodded in agreement.
