Wanette, Oklahoma. Ghost town. A vacant area devoid of all life, bar the occasional mangy wild beast wandering through looking for something to scavenge... Laranja sighed, and let her head drop to the picnic table she was seated at with a dull thud.
"Why can't we live somewhere with PEOPLE?" She lamented, feeling the sunshine's lingering warmth against her forehead. She lifted her head slightly, and then tapped it on the table again.
There was just too much time to kill, and far too few weapons at her disposal to do it with. She had ripped through her homework in no time, as was to be expected for somebody in her grade coming up on the last week of school. There were no sports teams practicing or playing any games, and today, Wednesday, was the one day a week that she didn't have any kind of dance practice.
"Another day of Jerry Springer and early bed," Laranja grumbled, still not raising herself from where she had slumped. The table was directly in front of the small brick building that was the school she attended, but as far as she knew, the other sixty students had already left. No need to maintain her image if she'd be suffering alone.

The soft throws of music began to dance about the air. Thick, beautiful notes rang out forming a slow toon that would both soothe the soul and lighten the heart. The song began to pick up in pace and become more energetic. A few more notes transformed the toon into a majestic song the likes of which would only really be heard in a classical music hall. The song broke for a few moments while the table groaned and then the light hearted song began again.
"Hey little sister. Why so glum?" Jahi asked the girl over his playing of his violin.
Jahi sat on the table top with his dark khakis hanging down onto the bench. A rich purple dress shirt hung over his broad shoulders and clung to his stomach. A thick hemp necklass pressed against his throat holding a small silver aunk(sp). Jahi smiled as he brought his song to an end and pulled his violin away from his neck and rested it on his knee. Jahi flicked a strand of hair out of Laranjas face and brought his hand to rest on the table.
"Boring Wednesday again, huh? Want me to play some more?"
OOC- Hope that works, and btw, sorry for rushing you lol.

OOC: Not a problem. I'm going to wait a wee bit on this post so that one or two of the others can get in, since violin music seems like an ideal way to catch attention.

OOC: No problem. I pounded this out as fast as I could, since I forgot about it while I was busy flirting it up. So errors are to be expected.
On another note, will there be an IC from Photu this topic, or for that matter, Whisper, any time soon?

NAIC - Whisper -- yeah -- I'll post there soon. Got to figure out what exactly Terrian will be doing. As for this one... If it seems necessary. Never having had much fondness for Power Rangers, the formula doesn't really compel me, but I'll join if you need me to round out an unfulfilled team.

OOC: No problem. I have some cool ideas that'd take six people, but it can run with five just dandy. Besides, if we jam you into a spot, we might block somebody else who would want to join. Not sure who, but best to keep the options open.

OOC - Gonna make a few descriptions of a part of the school, hope you don't mind. Just tell me if you want me to change anything.
BIC -
"No, sir, I'll be fine. I'll leave before the cleaning staff lock me in," Aaron said politely to his teacher. The teacher in question nodded curtly, then turned to leave, leaving Aaron alone in the dance studio of the school. It was a nice studio, a good size, with a wall covered in mirrors. It was equipped for all kinds of dance, with a solid floor that made a good noise in tap-dancing, balancing poses for ballet, and the size allowed for more ballroom-sweeping movements. Aaron, however, was not here to do any of those. Aaron was a street dancer.
Today, dressed in a plain white, loose-fitting, long-sleeved t-shirt, dark grey combat pants and dark trainers, he was intending to practice. He was alone, which he was very thankful for. No one else seemed to like his style of dancing. Sweeping a few strands of blonde hair out of his face, he pushed a button on the CD player and stood, facing the wall of mirrors, waiting for the music to start.
Once it did, he didn't immediately jump into the dance. Only an amateur would do that. He nodded, getting a feel for the beat, making a few small steps. The bass kicked in, and he was going. Moving surprisingly gracefully for a street-dancer, every small movement flowing into the next. He was very close to the floor as he moved, swinging his legs round under his body, then rolling to his hands, kicking his legs out and flipping to his feet. Dancing. He loved it.
He kept at it for an hour or so, pausing only to drink some water from the bottle he had brought. He would have stayed longer, but the cleaning staff needed to clean and lock up, so he had no choice. Always polite, he thanked the cleaning staff for not locking him in, and went to the front of the school. Hopefully, his mother would be waiting for him, ready to give him a lift home since his car was currently out of petrol. 'I've really gotta change that,' he thought to himself, pushing open the front doors.
No parent waiting for him. "Looks like I'm waiting for her, then," he muttered to himself. On a picnic bench, he saw two familiar looking people, who's names he thought were Laranja and Jahi. Not people he talked to often, admittedly, but at least he didn't hate them, so he approached the table, setting his bag down on the floor next to it. "Alrigh'?" He asked. "Hope you don't mind me sittin' with you."

Jason, otherwise known as Ace, was sitting on the top of the school building, facing the drop off area. He was, most assuredly, not suppost to be sitting up there. But these days, his reputation even protected him from the wrath of the teachers. He was quietly concerned with the way his reputation had been developing, though he was also greatful for it. It kept him from having to fight so many meaningless battles.
He sighed, listening to the sweet music of a violin drifting up from below. He'd always loved the violin, the sweet tones and harsh emotions it could invoke were unsurpassed. True, other instruments had their moment, but none other could describe so sweet a sadness. Or so dark a rage.
He sighed, brushing needlessly at his clothing. It was a finiky gesture he couldn't seem to rid himself off, that. He'd picked it up when he was much younger, and spent a lot of time in the hospital. The nurses there had ended up making him a neat freak, he hated it when his clothing was out of place.
He looked down at the other kids below him, sincerely hoping the one with the violin didn't look up. He didn't want to scare away the mood, genuine music was hard to come by. Pop, and rap, being more popular imports these days.

OOC: No problem with establishing much about the school. Basically, the thing to remember is that there's only the barest essentials in town. There's a gas station, a grocery store, a small dive of a bar, a bank, a post office, a town hall, two churches (We'll say... Catholic and Prebysterian, hm?), and the school. Beyond that, pretty much farmland for a goodly number of miles.
I'll post later on tonight/tomorrow in here. I just needed to see if my sister COULD post at all, but her schedule's jammed. I'm on auto duty with her character except for Thanksgiving week and Christmas week, and presumably Easter week, since this RP is going to be a "Series" of episodic plots, and thus, a long runner, though each plot should be short (think two to four pages, usually.) I say presumably, since though I know it will still be running, there may be cast changes, as Sentai teams are often wont to do.

OOC: Sorry about the delay gents.
BIC: "Eh, that's just how it is right now. A boring day, all the way through. No P.E. on Wednesday, so I got stuck in French class learning how to say things about grocery shopping. Groceries!" Laranja saw the face that Jahi was making, and couldn't help but feel slightly soothed. She put her hands on the bench, using it to lever herself into a more upright posture.
"Duh! I alway want to hear more of that!" Laranja gave Jahi a light shove. "Jeesh, you think that I'd turn that down, ever?" As he began playing, she fell silent, eyes closed, and began tapping her feet to the music. Her eyes popped open at the query, and she merely nodded.
"Mhm. Go ahead, it's not like there's anything else interesting going on." Laranja closed her eyes again, focusing entirely on the music. --------- On the rooftop, a quiet voice came from behind Ace.
"So..." A small, fragile girl, looking almost like some kind of dwarf next to the martial artist, had approached silently. "I guess I'm not the only one who figured out the way to get up here. Unless, like a typical guy, you just climbed up the building."
"Really, I could say typical monkey. Typical ape, typical guy..." The girl adjusted her fragile looking glasses, and looked down over the edge. "Not much difference."
Ariel didn't even glance towards the young man, seemingly trying to spot something in a pavement of the parking lot. Of course, if he can even listen to this music without retching, he's probably more sophisticated than the cretins in my grade...

"I doubt anything on the exterior of the building one might consider gripping, could support any weight." Ace said, lying back to look up at the sky. There happened to be some rather interesting cloud formation today. "No, I justed used the roof access in the gym storage room. It's not like they ever lock it."
He peered at the small girl from the corner of his eye for a moment, then mentally shrugged, dismissing the issue. The violin music really was quite pleasant, after all. "Oh, and before you ask, the hinges creak." Ace said, referring to the hatch that allowed roof access.
He took a bottle of water out of his pocket, popped some aspirin, and took a few long gulps. "Bloody weathers changing," He muttered, massaging the bridge of his nose. He looked up at the sky, and sure enough, spotted some dark clouds on the horizon.
"Ah well, rain never hurt nobody," Ace muttered, "And its only the pressure change that's hurting me."

Jahi smiled slightly at Laranja and her obsession with his music and knodded to the new arrival whom he believed to be named Aaron. Jahi loved an audience to his playing, even if it was only a couple of people. He let the last few notes of the song he was currently playing die away and he put his violin back into his lap. Jahi took a few deep breathes and then began to pull his prized violin back to his neck, but stopped short as if it was hard to do. "So, it seems that Samantha and I are no longer together. Seems that she's been 'seeing' some guy from up north. I think this song is fitting for the moment." Jahi said to no one in general as he drew his bow. Jahi began into the tune and the dark notes rang out like an echo of the emotion Jahi was feeling. The song danced on the air and Jahi sawed through the notes as if no one was watching, a dark side slightly showing on his face. He closed his eyes and let it all fade away for a few moments. Nothing else exsisted in this moment besides the notes that Jahi created and the wind spread. Slowly, Jahi opened his eyes and looked towards the sky but stopped short with the sight of the two people on the roof of the school. As the song came to an end Jahi let the sadness slip off his face and smiled softly again as he layed on his back across the table. "That makes me feel better." OOC: Does Jahi take requests? www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKsEwPSI79UBIC: "No way. You're kidding me, right?" Laranja rose from her seat, dusting herself off to make sure no wrappers or grime from the bench was on her. All it took was the look on his face to confirm the mournful fact. "That really, really sucks," Laranja sighed, pacing around Jahi methodically. The music certainly wasn't quite her tastes, too gloomy for the occasion. Then again, with how Jahi felt at the moment, really, she couldn't blame him for the melancholy. "Sorry about being a drag, Aaron. I guess today must just be one of those days that really sucks," Laranja jumped back into her seat, slouching once more. She caught a glimpse of navy blue rounding the corner. "Not getting into any trouble, right?" The police officer asked, a wry grin on his face. He had a slightly larger than average build, moving with confident, easy steps. "Of course not, Officer Verner," Laranja said as sweetly as she could muster. "Thought so. So, all of you just here waiting for rides, right? Or is it just the in thing to do now?" ---------- Ariel had gone quiet when the music resumed, simply producing a pair of silver dice from her coin purse and proceeding to roll them again and again, checking the results. Every now and then, she'd take one of the dice and exchange it for another from the pouch. "I doubt they really need to worry about people on their roof. If somebody's smart enough to get up here, they're smart enough not to fall like an imbecile. Double sixes," Ariel drew a blue pen from her hip pocket, and marked her left palm. "I didn't here anything about rain on the-" Ariel froze up, slowly pocketing her trinkets once more. "They said Verner. I think it's best that we head back in, now." She began standing up slowly, hunched over to stay out of the line of sight of the people on the ground.

Ace eye'd the police officer down below, and instantly sat up. There was something hackle raising about the man, that put him on guard right away. Though he couldn't name it, he was torn between following the girls advice or not. Eventually he managed to force himself into a relaxed posture, there really was no reason to move, and he didn't know anyone in town capable of threatening him really.
"Whats the hurry?" He asked the young lady, "I grant you he has a bit of a foul aura, but why should we run away? It isn't a crime to be on a roof." He scratched at his neck absently, looking at the young man with the violin. He wished he'd start playing it again, he had such a range of emotion on the strings.
Still though, he reluctantly backed away from the edge, and lay down out of site of the officer. He didn't want to make the girl any more nervous than she already was, by doing the classic macho guy thing.

"Sorry to hear about Samantha," Aaron said to Jahi, reaching for his bag. "And it's alrigh', just nice to have some company." He fumbled around with the clasps on his bag for a moment, then opened it and started reaching inside, searching for his mobile phone and his iPod. If those two were going to be a bit depressing, he figured that he could at least keep his mood higher with some music of his own. Not out of rudeness, but because when he was depressive, he didn't know what to do with himself.
"Just waiting for a ride, Officer. Or at least I am," Aaron said to the police officer. "My car's outta fuel, otherwise I wouldn't be here." He put his headphones in, and flicked through his iPod for something decent to listen to. He did make a note to keep the volume low, though, so that he did not come across as rude in case he was addressed.

OOC- Yes he does and this topic is proof. BTW, it is the Song of Storms that Jahi is playing.
BIC- "My parents are still in Egypt, so I'm just hanging out. My jeep isn't far from here Officer Verner." Jahi said as he sat upright and pulled the violin under his chin again. "How about something to lighten the mood?"
Jahi began to play slowly in driving manner. The notes became demanding and hypnotic as the song drove into the chorus. Jahi rose from from the table and began to glide with the notes he played in a waltz time as the sound wafted on the breeze. The song was both beautiful and calming, it also happened to be one of Laranja's favorites. Jahi lost himself in the music once agan and brought the tempo of the song up to a pace that was nearly mind numbing. The violin pulled Jahi in a musical tornado as he danced about the table like a man possessed. As the tune came to a close, Jahi let his arms go limp and he sank into a sitting position on the bench.
"Much better. Hope I didn't bug you much Aaron, but whenever I start playing I can't make myself stop until the song is over. I also take requests." Jahi laughed a deep chesty laugh.

"It's alrigh'," Aaron said, shrugging. "Classical music's not really my thing, though. No offense." He flicked through his iPod again, finally settling on one of his endless tracks of dance music. Something uplifting, or active at any rate. He also opened the text messaging on his mobile phone so he could ask his mother when she expected to be there.
"No dance class tonight, then, Laranja?" Aaron asked. "Just came out of the studio. I think the cleaners are sick of waiting for me." He punched in a short message on his phone and sent it to his mother.

"Oh, okay boys. Just as long as you're not giving anybody trouble," Verner took a seat on the bench, looking away from the school.
Laranja seemed to respond to the new tune on a subconscious level, her steps slowly becoming more deliberate and mincing. She smiled, the music reaching the her heart, and began slowly rising and falling with the music. She went into a slow twirl, bringing her arm up and then moving directly back into her steps, clearly choosing a method of movement similar to ballet. As she began moving more quickly, she thought to herself, I really wish that I had brought my ballet slippers... These sneakers really suck. She waltzed around Jahi from a distance, matching his steps and twirls by reading the twitches of his muscles and his eyes.
"Yeah, nothing tonight, anywhere. I'd be better off just watching the corn grow," Laranja muttered slightly bitterly, still keeping pace with the song and following Jahi's dance.
As the music concluded, Laranja slowed, taking a dramatic stance. She held it for a moment, and then snapped back to her regular stance. She jumped to the bench in one stride, turning in midair so that she landed seated. The jarring impact made the officer turn around, and he saw some movement on the rooftop, something incongruous.
"Hey, since you all are waiting, could I ask a favor of you? I think some kids are on the roof messing around," Verner frowned slightly. "I'd go up, but then they might do something stupid to try and get away. So you three think you might be able to ask them to come down for me?"
"I guess we could. It's better than sitting around, right?" Laranja said, pouting ever so slightly. "I doubt they'd listen to me, but Jahi and Aaron have decent standing around here, so that might get them."
"Okay. Just go through the gym supply room, there's a stairwell behind it that goes straight up there," Verner paused, rubbing his chin, "The door shouldn't be locked. Nobody ever bothers with it."

Jahi didn't vocally respond but simply crossed to the enterance of the school and slipped inside. He took long, silent strides towards the gym and upon entering couldn't keep his black leather shoes from making a quiet clicking as he walked. Jahi entered the supply room and pulled his violin up under his chin. As Jahi began up the stairs he pulled his bow across the strings to mimic the pre-attack song from Jaws. Each step he took brought the tempo up and near the top it was at a nearly constant pace. Jahi kicked the door open and played the last few notes as he rounded the corner to find the two students seated here, he knew them as Jason and Ariel.
"Well if it isn't Ariel and Jason. Still keeping in the habits of hanging out on the roof huh? Oh well, Officer Verner would like to have a word with the both of you if you wouldn't mind coming down real quick." Jahi laughed a bit as he headed back for the door to the gym.

"They was a bit of a flamboyant entrance," Ace said quietly, thinking about what he'd said. "Don't want to talk to a police officer actually, for any reason. Hate the type." He muttered, getting up and crossing to the back of the roof, he looked over the edge to the back parking lot, and at his street bike. "Coming?" He asked the younger girl, before stepping over the edge and dropping to the ground below with a loud thud.
Ace clenched his teeth as the shock numbed his legs, but it wouldn't kill him, never had. He looked to his left, and the tree he probably should've climbed down, but always forgot to. "If the drop is to much, you can always use the tree!" He called up the his companion, then walked over to his bike and pulled his helmet on.
