A stormy gray sky marked Midnight's arrival; not the best way for a traveling trainer to enter Lavaridge Town, but the small charcoal Moogle didn't have a particular wish to be caught out in the rain. He leaned over, balancing by fluttering his wings slightly, and scratched his Growlithe's ear. Kurai barked in acknowledgement, and slowly sat down. The Moogle pulled out an orange and black Pokeball, and returned the puppy-Pokemon. A rogue wind blew his ears back and ruffled his fur, as well as whipped a few leaves across his path. Shivering slightly, he set off into the mountainous town.
A few sparse people littered the roads, scurrying around to finish up what business they had. Hiding his small presense behind a sign, he lifted into the air slightly to read. A natural hotspring...a small daycare service...Gym Leader he ticked off all of the things worth seeing, reading quickly before a storm hit. As the first chilly drops began to splatter on the dirt roads, he darted over to the Pokemon Center. A few roadside battles requested that Kurai get a quick heal, and Midnight figured he could wait out the rain inside the cheery building. Bright flourecent lights beckoned to him, as he watched the mechanical door slide open. Soft music was thrumming in the background, and springy potted plants decorated the restoration area. A curving couch sat down a set of three steps, as well as a T.V. and a few magazines.
A petite, green-haired lady looked around in confusion as the door whirred open, then blinked as she saw the furry, rabbit-like creature step inside, wringing his ears on the shoe-mat.
"W-welcome to the Lavaridge Pokemon Center!" she finally announced, blushing.
He looked up, dark purple eyes boring momenarily into hers. Then he smiled slightly and walked up o the desk. Using a set of dragon-like wings to flutter high enough, he set a unique Pokeball in front of her, then waited in mid-air.
"Could I get him healed, kupo, please?" he asked.
His voice was small and light, and Nurse Natrine was bemused by the small creature. After he had replaced the shrunken Pokeball to a small belt underneath his baggy clothes, he walked silently over to the waiting area. Midnight grabbed the remote, climbed onto the sofa, and turned it to the news.
"...at Mount Chimney. The unknown criminal is requesting 1,000,000 P from the Lavaridge mayor before tomorrow sunset."
The Moogle's eyes narrowed, and he shifted slightly so that he wouldn't sink into the small couch.
"That's all that's been on for awhile now, sir." the Nurse said softly, listening in.
Midnight turned slightly to her, then turned off the channel. Hopping gracefully onto the wooden floors, the Moogle checked his map, then headed outside. The wind had picked up, but the weather was bearable. Ignoring the raindrops splashing across his face, ears, and whiskers, he set off at a quick sprint down the road, headed towards the cable cars that would take him up to Mt.Chimney.
"Kurai won't last long fighting out in this weather, kupo..." he reminded himself nervously.
He skidded to a stop(beating his wings to keep from falling over) in front of a large sign.
CABLE CARS OUT OF SERVICE
Highly doubting that, the small Moogle ducked underneath the piece of cardboard, shivering as wet grass saturated him. Keeping partially under the cardboard cover, he looked around. Sure enough, a young man wih bright red, shoulder length hair was leaning up against the high-tech transport unit, twirling a set of keys on his index finger.
Carefully releasing Kurai as he tilted the sign more horizontally, Midnight gestured quietly to the man. The playful Growlithe nodded just as quietly, licked his small trainer warmly on the cheek, and began to creep out into the open. He managed to get only a few feet away from the man before he noticed. As the startled red-head tossed out a Pokeball, Kurai threw himself into an agility manuveur, speeding across the ground to avoid any attack-attempts. The enemy Pokemon, a Totodile, growled menacingly, then stopped short when it saw no target.
Taking advantage of the water-Pokemon's confusion, the Growlithe jumped into the air. He turned his head to the side, then flung it forward, releasing several energy-charged stars. The Swift move knocked the Totodile backwards, but it caught itself with one claw and sprang back onto its feet. The two Pokemon faced off, circling slowly. Then the two rushed each other, a crazy game of chicken. Neither backed down--instead, both ran head-long into each other, the Totodile lowering his head to butt the fire-type, and Kurai baring his fangs to sink them into the crocodile.
Totodile yelped in pain as the Growlithe latched onto the back of its neck, growling in warning. The red-headed trainer stepped forward uncertainly, but Midnight revealed himself with more sure-footedness.
"The keys." he stated, fizing a cold stare on the man.
The losing trainer was about to toss the glittering items over when a sudden object hit the Moogle upside the head. A chubby Pikachu kicked off from the miniature trainer, launching itself towards Kurai. The puppy-Pokemon growled in genuine anger, bit hard enough to render the Totodile unconcious, then met the Pikachu in mid-air. The Growlithe's Take Down met the Pikachu's speedy Quick Attack with aplomb, sending the mouse-Pokemon skidding.
"Pii.." it muttered angrily, electricity sparking from it's cheeks.
More gathered until it was satisfied, and it launched the gathered power towards Kurai. The fire-type lunged to one side, cringing as electricity nicked his paw and surged momentarily through his body. Both Pokemon panted heavily, watching the other with suspicion. The Pikcahu stumbled slightly as a wave of dizziness overpowered it, and the Growlithe shot forward. Small flames shot from its body, and the Pokemon released them in a rope of fire. Tightening them on the elecrical mouse, the fire-dog sat victorious again. Midnight sat up painfully, eyes downcast in embarrassment. Another battle, all because I can't watch myself...
The Moogle pivoted around strictly,
"Kupo, who else is there?"
A small, beady eyed man came out, wringing his hands and staring at the Pikachu.
"Let 'im go!" the newcomer ordered, watching the Pokemon struggle with its bonds.
The Totodile-man, grimacing in defeat, tossed over the keys. Midnight caught them, clenching the ring in his hand. He pulled his satchel off his back, and fetched out a Paralysis Heal, as well as a Potion. Spraying the yellow and purple items on the worn-down Growlithe, the Moogle sighed in relief.
"We still have far to go, kupo." he whispered stroking the Pokemon's silky fur.
He turned to the foursome of trainers and Pokemon, and nodded. The coils of flame released the Pikachu, and Midnight glared at them in disgust, dark violet eyes studying them with hate. Returning Kurai once more, and shrinking the ball, the Moogle started for the cable car.
Without warning another man--with oak-colored slicked back hair and small brown eyes-- leaped for the trainer. Midnight shot into the air, ready for trouble. Two more men of the same look, brothers probably, appeared from the surroundings. Encircling the Moogle, the first said,
"I'd give up now. Else you're gonna be in pain soon."
Remaining at a cautious hover, Midnight whispered,
"Cowards..." before making for the cars.
The man in front of him jumped for him, but the Moogle did a spiral under him, wings humming as rain was flung from them. The trainer would have made it, but a drop of water struck his eye, and he blinked. A sudden body (yet another guard) blocked his path, and the rabbit-like trainer struck him solidly. He tried for his feet, but a ruthless strike to the head cast him into darkness.

Groggy, and with an aching head, Midnight reached up. Or tried to. His entire arms and hands were bound by a large quantity of rope to his sides. In fact, his entire upper body was hidden by thick ropes, leaving his booted feet dangling a few yards above the ground. The bonds were lashed talentedly to a branch, and pain began to rack the small Moogle's body.
"Ku-" a sudden fist appeared out of nowhere, ramming his questioning 'kupo' back down his throat.
Four men of the exact same height and appearence assembled in front of him, along with the original two trainers he had beaten. They smirked at him at eye level, and the red-head spoke up.
"So. Are you some kind of mutant rabbit?"
A chorus of laughter rose up.
The laughter echoed throughout the mountain-side area, only a few yards away from where the locked cable cars sat. Anyone for a full mile would surely hear the mocking laughter. Morons...and I still have the keys the Moogle's slowly functioning mind thought, eeling an uncomfortable object digging into his side.
