Tyr
Tyr is a low tech world, with a very strange history, and stranger people. Humanity lives upon the world of Tyr, along with the Gantai, hulking tribal people, more man than monkey, but looked down on all the same. The proud and resilliant Corallians, those odd people who can control the Ether with no additional help, though their perception of it is weak without an ether artifact to shape and guild the flows. The quick and intelligent Tenai, that blue skin of there’s almost seeming an oddity, until you see them among the waves of the sea.
Tyr is a world with four known races upon it, on one side of the world, on an extremely large continent that hasn’t entirely been mapped. There may be other continents across the ocean, no one knows for sure. Primarily low technolodgy, Tyr actually used to be an advanced planet, but it was strip mined for all its resources, and now not even a glimmer of its old glory remains. Due to the low concentration of resources now present on Tyr, the people get by with swords and steel, as guns are an uncommon commodity, having to use extremely expensive ammunition.
Tyr is also rich in old artifacts from its glory days. Swords, staffs, guns, rods, all kinds of tools, imbued with the power of ether to control the ether. And only with one of these tools can the people’s of Tyr control the ether, save for the brilliant Corallians, though they’re grasp of ether is weak without an artifact to control it with. Occasional odd, hovering contraptions can be found on Tyr, but few know how to fix them, and fewer still have the guts to pilot them.
Tyr is made up of these four peoples.
Humans - Most likely to develop psionic abilities, and unlimited in other capacities.
Corallians - A slightly more advanced type of human being, they have more pointed eye's, sharper, slanted eyes, and slightly small noses. Corallians are born with odd patterns over their faces, like tribal designs, which allow them to control Ether without an artifact, though their power isn't as strong without one.
Gantai - Less adcanced than human's, these Gantai are physically stronger. Their bodies are generally larger in all demensions, and their whole bodies are covered in a light furr, save for their hands, chest, and heads. (Though they still grow hair.) They have monkey like tails ranging from 3 to 6 feet long, and have been known to fly into odd rages that have granted them an apalling strength. They'd look the same as a human, if they shaved all the hair off. Just bigger.
Tenai - The Tenai are balanced, exactly as advanced as humans with a different path of evolution. They have slightly blue tinted skin, long hair, and absolutely no other hair anywhere on their bodies. The Tenai aren't as strong a humans, but they are quite lithe and graceful, they're vision is also far superior, though they can be fooled by anything that is completely green, as they are incapable of actually seeing green. They also tend to be slightly smaller than humans, averaging at about 5'4".
Etharians - Etherians can be of any of the races. An Etherian is created when one of the races delves to deeply into the power of Ether, having to many Artifacts that allow access to the Ether is but one of a few ways of becoming an Etherian. When you become an Etherian, your entire body is covered in crystallized ether, like a thick armor, though its mostly scaled, still allowing free movement. Your faces becomes a mask of ether, clouded and totally crystallized. The color of the crystal is dependent upon the Etherians origional personality. In addition to this, Etherians no longer need an Artifact to use Ether, and they are far more powerful than the Corallians, even without an artifact. But this comes at a high price. Etherians constantly hunger for more ether, wishing above all else to bath themselves in its power. They care not for they're origional forms of faculties. They are power driven, insane, without compassion or honour. All of they're considerable intellect is focused on finding more ether. Carilla and the Empire have actually been known the work together to track down and kill known Etherians.
And these four nations.
Vox Empire
Humans rule a large percentage of the land, from their seats on the Vox Empire. Rules by a 12 man council, the Vox empire has taken land and territory from its more primative bretherin. The Vox Empire continues to expand, much to the distaste of its neighbors. There are different political factions within the empires, with different views and goals, making it a dangerous place for the unweary.
Carilla Republic
A large republic with a large ruling body, the Corallian people are far more socially advanced than humanity. They both have equal access to tech, due to the fact that the planet is low on mineral resources, making it hard to maintain a constant stream of ammunition for guns, or materials for research. The Empire has occasionally tried to take Carilla as their own. A a result, armed guards are posted on each border all the time, and human's are seldom welcome in the Carilla Republic.
Tal'ek
Quiros
Gihai
Brestosh
Cardolis
The five remaining Gantai tribes. The huge people are skilled metalworkers and warriors, and like to live in medium sized social groups for hunting purposes. Plus it was easier to get the ticks out when you had a partner. Gantai craftsmanship was popular both among the Vox Empire and the Carilla Republic, both prized for its fine workmanship, and the comical look for the blacksmiths who sold them. Gantai blacksmiths were easily differentiated from the warriors, as all their hair was singed off. As a result, those blacksmiths were usually extremely irritable. The Gantai tribes have a habit of making rather large swords, to match their strength, and human's consider it a matter of pride and honor to be able to wield a Gantai weapon.
Gillian Kingdom
Smart, quick, and cunning. The Tenai have carved out a sizable nich for themselves as sailors, and fishermen. Though they're easily nimble enough for other takes. Ten years ago, when the empire last sent its armies to overtake the Gillian Kingdom, they camped outside the capital city of Khyhys. And, in the dead of night, 500 men and woman from the city climbed over there own walls, snuck into the empire camp, and killing everyone, without ever waking a single soul. The empire was smart enough to learn from this mistake, and remains weary of them, for the moment.

This is born of a conversation I origionally initiated with Lee, and for the moment, it will only pertain to Lee and I. Though everyone else is free to read through my idea's, and add comments. Lee will likely want to make a few changes and such as well.
I think this new world of ours should be called Tyr, for simplicity and because it sounds cool. And, going off of what I discussed with Lee, I'm going to have some bullet points here. Then a summary.
* Low Tech World
*Dominant Form of Magic Is Ether
*Should be at least 4 races, while others are free to think up more.
*Ether can only be wielded through high tech, which is very rare.
* Psionic Ability is not uncommon
So basically what I'm thinking is, casters, like Zebedee, Prime, or Aurora, who's abilities are based on magic, will need a tool for casting. IE, a piece of high tech. This could be a gun, a sword, a staff, a rod, whatever. We all know the rules for Psionics, keep in mind that means your character can be elemental to.
And the low tech world part means it difficult, but not impossible, to find guns and ammunition. Caster Guns obviously wouldn't require anything more than either to function of corse. So, this makes it practical to use a sword, even for low level characters, possible to use a gun, in any case, if your a caster, artifacts are important, and you can make a real story ark out of aquiring one, and those who are uninterested in that can chose to be Psionic, with a normal sword or gun ect and continue on that way.
Basic History and Current Relations:
The Tribes:
For thousands of years, the relationships between the five tribes, Tal’ek, Quiros, Gihai, Brestosh, and Cardolis, were constantly shifting. When times were lean, and the hunts did not yield well, two tribes were known to ally for a short while, and attack another, nearby tribe, so as to acquire more hunting grounds. The richer tribes never took this well, and would also, often, make temporary alliances to hold the other tribes back. But these simpler, less aggressive days don’t compare to the state of the tribes in the current age. Pushed into a corner by the dominating Vox Imperials, the five tribes have been forced to create a loose alliance between each other, sending they’re best warriors to the borders between themselves and the empire, to hold the invaders back. Though the tribes are far fewer in number, they possess an incredible strength as a warrior race. Currently the empire has no fear of the Tribes, but they feel no need for they’re land as yet, and so the attack is withheld. As such, the Tribes are jumpy, and not oft on good terms with humans.
Vox Empire, or, The Holy Vox Imperium:
The empire of humanity, they do not live peacefully with the other races. The council of 13 sees the other races as a threat, knowing that if they all banded together, they could destroy the weaker, and less talented humans. They’ve all but ignored the fact that many human’s of late have been gifted with psionic powers, and are quite capable of holding they’re own against the other races should they wish the human blight to be removed. In fact, in most cases Psionics are driven from the Vox Empire, considered to be traitors and half-breeds. The 13 and many of the Nobility believe that Psionic power is the result of cross breeding, and interference from darker gods. Thus, though not currently at war with anyone, the Empire keeps a careful eye on the Carilla Republic and the Gillian Kingdom. They pay little heed to the Gantai Tribes, not considering they’re limited numbers and small minds worth they’re time. Of course, looks aren’t everything, and the Gantai do have some brilliant leaders. Why else would they be leaders?
The Gillian Kingdom:
A happy people, the Tenai have no concern for the Vox Empire or its wars. They’re army is 5000 strong, far less than even the Tribes. However, their army is also swift and silent, completely at ease with they’re surroundings. The last time the empire invaded, the Tenai slew the entire imperial attack force, in the dead of night, with nary a scream to announce them. The 13 should be fervently thankful the Tenai don’t take more aggressive action towards them, as even one of the Tenai warriors could cross the border between the two nations, and kill the thirteen in they’re sleep. The Tenai are a seafaring folk, called strongly to the ocean. Most of them don’t wear shirts, preferring the feeling of sun on skin. Even the women, though they, at least, are kind enough to preserve they’re modesty when someone from another nation is around, specifically the humans and the Corallians, who tend to make a lot of noise about the fact.
The Carilla Republic:
More advanced than they’re human cousins, the Carilla Republic formed without fuss or war amongst themselves. They still can’t acquire the materials needed for mass production of firearms, but they’re innate ability to control the ether makes up for they’re lack of manufacturing ability. Especially in the face of the empires manufacturing ability. They’re constantly kept on they’re toes, waiting for an imperial attacks. The borders between the Empire and the Republic are constantly manned, and impressively armed. Men standing proud and tall dressed out in the best armor, with the most keen steel weapons. Both have taken to mithril as a preferred metal, but neither has found a way to forge it, so they do little more than war over the areas that contain it. Other than those activities, they try to keep to themselves, knowing the other to be a strong foe should they be provoked.
Note:
* Anyone with ether directly on their bodies, corallians for example, can shape the ether, but only by using they're own blood as a catalyst, otherwise the etherstone is to hard to chip, shape, or otherwise reform.
