Berthold stood in the alley by the warehouse, watching ships pull in to load and unload cargo. Right now, he was in the freight section. Repairing cranes made decent money, but he still didn't have enough... Half a year ago, he had received news of his father's death, and the rather sobering news that came with it. The man's last project, something he had had Berthold's assistance in, had been completed. It was the whole of Berthold's inheritance. However, whatever it was, it said that unless he brought a key enclosed in the letter with him to his family's old home in Michigan before the end of October, he'd be in trouble. Some organization would seize it, and he'd receive nothing of his father's legacy.
It was July now, more than halfway through his time, and he still hadn't left Johto. He had enough money for two-thirds of a ticket. He'd need more than he had now. If only some of the people who had been trying to help him earlier were to show up, or maybe even somebody new... They'd be a tremendous help.

Something was bouncing towards him, and that something was fairly large and threatening. Arhenius, who was jumping up and down on her robotic spider legs thanks to Berthold's upgrade, created potholes in the cement because of her sheer strength. On her back was Levi, laughing maniacally and shooting his revolver all over the place.
"Yee-haw! Giddy up, horsey!" He yelled out, cackling and waving his messenger hat around like a cowboy. Arhenius was not happy, so she simply stopped abruptly, grabbed him with one of her tentacle claws, and flung him off towards Berthold. Levi tumbled several feet, before slowing down to a stop on his back next to Berthold.
"OWWW! Rough landing... " Levi struggled to get up, rubbing his tailbone and the back of his head. "Heya, Berthold. How ya doing?" He asked, still trying to recover from the bumpy ride.

A girl dressed in vibrant colors walked up to Berthold from the street. "Hello" she said totally unphased by the peculiarity of Arhenius. "I was wondering if I could help you with anything." Then with a harty emphasis said "like a special project."

"I'm doing well, I guess." Berthold muttered, examining the pavement damage. "That's some pretty nasty damage you can deal now, Arh." He gave her a pat on the shoulder and a warm smile. "Glad to see both of you around once more."
Berthold then turned to the girl. "I do have something that will require a lot of assistance. I've got to find a way across the Pacific very soon." His tone was quick and muttered, obviously trying to avoid an unpleasant issue.

Fire swirled on the cement ground where all the potholes were just formed. Then a psychic energy blended in and the earth began to rise, and shake inside the mini-typhoon of power. The ground rose, and the power stopped swirling and a robed figure stood at the top of the pillar of earth.
"I suppose I could help you with your small trifle, though, it will take a little time..." The woman said in a voice that seemed like she was using two sets of vocal cords instead of one. Her voice seemed to be mixed with that of an evil one, yet there was some kind of purity behind it.

Berthold took a few steps back. He was aware of those that used magic, easily toying with the fundamental nature of existence. He knew that in some parts of the world, it had completely suplanted technology due to its much more efficient nature. But he had never really spent time around any magicians or sorcerers. He had grown up in a rather upscale area of Detroit, and then moved here recently to examine some recent advances in some mechanical technologies. He looked at the woman, and cocked an eyebrow. "I suppose that I could use your help as well, if you're willing to look around for something with me."

"I suppose that will do... What exactly is it that you need?" She said smiling, her piercings jingling slightly.

"Well, I was..."
"Captain Sheppy, at your service!" A man, clothed in coveralls that were bedecked with salt-water stains, approached the group. "I heard that you needed a ride. I'll take whatever money ya got, and I'll get you to Washington."
"Oh honestly, how am I supposed to trust you?"
"Well, you may not trust me, but I think you should trust my ship."
"What?"
"Follow me." The man walked towards the docks, gestured enthusiastically for the group to take his route.
As the group followed, the captain chuckled slightly, and pointed at the docks. Bridge down to the docks, a gargantuan cruise ship rested alongside the docks.
OOC: FINISH POST LATER!
