{OOC- I know my RPs tend to bore people, but I figured if I don't make myself start a thread, I'd never get around to it}
The windswept plains appeared charred and twisted, with no thriving flora or fauna in sight. No visible roads or trails marked a pathway, and nothing seemed to move except for the heat-ripples that studded one lone boy's vision. Aside from him and a wary vulture circling ominously overhead, the scene had nothing in it. Cracked and crumbling dirt as far as the eye could see, with occasional jutting boulders, and somehow Keit was in the middle of it.
The young child sat desolately on one of the rocks, angled out of the ground so that his feet dangled a yard or so above the hot, tough ground. He sniffed loudly in the silence, his usually-brilliant white hair and fox-like features done a dusty, dirty brown. His folded-over cap was askew on his head, and Kiet didn't bother to fix it. It was always slipping down anyways, and there was nobody to see his unorderly appearance.
He had long forgotten how long he had sat there, occasionally breaking out into tears, periodically falling back on the warm stone surface to drift into uneasy sleep. But the discomfort wasn't anything near as bad as feeling alone. He didn't know that's what he felt--in fact, he couldn't remember back before he was wandering the desert to this cursed trail marker in his path. It was all a haze. A dim, fuzzy haze of
"White." he whispered to the vulture.
The bird listened to him in mocking silence, and he wanted to hit it for being so cruel to him. The tears in his stunning blue eyes filled to the brim, and then spilled down his cheeks once more, smearing the dusty brown layer of dirt on two thin streaks on his cheeks. The vulture had only just appeared today, and he had tenatively hoped for a companion in his desolation.
But quickly enough he had realized the scavenger saw him as no such thing. He wished he hadn't been able to solve that problem so abruptly, but the knowledge had came over him anyways.
Not for the first time the fox-demon saw a dark outline at the edge of his acute vision. It was always just thoughtful thinking, for with a blink and rub of his eyes, the shape or shadow would always be gone.

Aurora materialised quietly, he had felt the distress of this child a few miles away, it was horrible that children should be alone this way, feel this way. But alas, it was nearly impossible to stop, and all Aurora could do, was be there for the one’s that needed him, when they needed him.
He stepped forward, slowly as to not startle the one before him, also throwing his cloak off so he didn’t seem evil or something, his red halo shone in the light, and his black smart trousers and white shirt looked out of place for where he was.
“Are you okay my child?” he asked slowly, looking down at him a smile on his face.

Kiet's shimmering blue eyes widened first in surprise, and then uncertainty. This man had seemed to come from nowhere, and a part of him inclined to believe he was destined to be alone suggested he was an apparation. Even as he felt his heart tug as the sudden ope died away, he reached tenatively for the man's halo, attracted by the red light. It seemed to resemble...however faintly..the same light that surrounded him whenever he held his staff, hidden away inside the folds of his clothes.
Upon hearing the man speak the doubt was purged, and a two new contradicting feelings emerged. One was immense fear. He had a suspision that this man would act as cruel to him as the vulture and others--what others?--had been, at the same time he wanted to lunge out and cling to the newcomer.
These new feelings where sudden, for awhile he had only felt desolaton and misery, and now there was a man smiling down on Kiet's dusty body.
In response, he tried to pull his cap all the way down over his ears, and tuck his tail under himself. The attempt was obvious and it was clear what he was trying to do, but the Kitsune was in a younger state of mind now, only caring about making sure the man didn't leave.
"I'm.." he swallowed and tried to wet his mouth enough to speak. "I'm okay."
He remained seated on the rock's hard surface, fingers digging into the surface. The vulture from before seemed annoyed. It debated between taking its prey before it got away, or not risking the new thing attacking it. It finally swooped lower, claws outstretched. The vulture's hunger was fierce, and Kiet's small, unaware back was easy to reach. Of course, it was in plain view of the other manm but the vulture didn't think that one animal would do anything to protect another. It wouldn't, after all.

Aurora turned quickly towards the now attacking vulture, his hand stretched out for a moment, and in the next the bird fell to the floor frozen in ice, not dead, but very stiff it probably wouldn’t be able to move for a few hours.
“Do not be scared of me child, I am here to help,” Aurora smiled again, he sat next to the child, “Now, mind telling me your name? I’m Aurora, nice to meet you.”

Startled by the sudden movements, Kiet's ears flattened down more than they already were, only relaxing when the fox-demon turned cuatiously to see the vulture, his lone enemy in a battle of time and patience, frozen a few feet away. He swallowed again and shifted slightly when Aurora--a name which made Kiet think of snow, whatever that was-- seated himself next to him.
Kiet reached out slowly and touched the man on the arm, and as his pointer finger touched the white shirt's fabric, he felt immense relief. The man didn't jump back or attack him, and the idea of being hated ebbed a bit. He wasn't sure about his name, so said what he'd been called by the people who he couldn't really remember.
"Damiene, I think."
He pronounced it 'duh-mean-ay', thinking of 'demon', and then added in a sudden need to overthrow that, "Kiet! I'm Kiet."
His tail, matted with pebbles and dust was laying casually out behind him without his notice. The tips of his furred ears showed through his hair, two black smudges agains the dusty brown. He was stil fighting down the longing to cling to the man's arm feverishly, and his hands tightened on the stone ledge, detemined not to make Aurora uncomfortable.

“Kiet eh? Cool name,” Aurora chuckled, not mentioning the name Kiet had mentioned before, he could see why he didn’t like it and that was fine by him. “So how come you’re out here?” he asked, “Not much to do around here,” explaining his curiosity.

Relaxing considerably more, Kiet let his eyes roam around as well, as if he was looking at the wastelands for the very first time as well. His eyes glazed over momentarily and he shivered a bit, then blinked up at Aurora with all the charming cuteness of a young boy, and said uncertainly,
" I don't know." He hesitated and then added in a careful tone, "You're not leaving me, are you?"
His eyes were filled with flecks of white, giving his blue eyes are bright look. His head cocked to one side in a dog-like manner, one ear flicking out from underneath the cap, pushing it up a bit more naturally.

“Of course not, not until you have no need of me anymore,” Aurora answered standing once more, “How did you get here in the first place?” he asked as he surveyed the ground looking for wood, not spotting any, he waved his hand once more and some appeared, and with another wave of his hand it caught alight, “Don’t wanna freeze right?” Aurora chuckled over his shoulder. Watching his display of magic with wide, surprised eyes, Kiet barely remembered the questions asked.
"Um...I was just.." he shugged. "...here."
He scrambled to his feet and inched a bit nearer, dispite his inner voice saying to act mature, and nodded at the fire. His ears pricked up all the way at the sound of a far-off coyote's howling, and his dark blue cap flopped off the back of his unwashed head. Leaping and turning in child-like alarm at the sound, he nearly bounded off the rock-plateau's edge. He looked at the worn hat, hen his gloved hands flew up to his ears and he did step back in a mixture of fright and defence. It was instinctive, but the step he took met with air, and he pitched backwards.
Forgeting he had someone to help him, and that he would be revealing his most sacred possesion by using it, Kiet's hands flew to the folds of his tunic. As soon as he touched the smooth carved wood, the staff phased through his clothes and the bright clear orb in the center of the crook exploded into light. In mid-fall he seemed to take two quick steps on mid-air to right himself and then touched back on the rock.
His pupils grew to pinpricks of fear and he turned without looking at the man and jumped the small height of the rock. Tears welling inside of him again, along with the inclination to believe he wasn't meant to know people, he ran of clumsily towards the moon' silvery face. is steps were stumbling things and he made no ground at all, even as the brilliant light from his staff seemed to wash away the dirt and cuts from his lonely days.
{OOC- No problemo! I'm sorry for the ornery-ly panicky character XP}

Aurora frowned, his hand rose summoning his cloak he had tossed aside to him, another wave and it disappeared entirely. He turned, watching the retreating back of the young boy he took a step forward and vanished entirely, reappearing in front of the boy.
“May I ask why you are scared of me?” Aurora asked in his kind voice, “I promise I won’t harm you.”

Kiet skidded to a stop, and looked up blear-eyed at Aurora. The kind voice was reassuring, but it might've been a trick. He put the staff behind his back and looked up again at the man.
"I dunno."
His foxish curiousity opened his mouth again, becoming blunt in his all-or-nothing bravery.
"But you use magic, don't you?" He pointed to his ears and then his tail, looking hopefully at the man. "So you know what I am, right?"
The question had a hidden meaning, a hopeful inquiry on top of a depressed and fearful belief, and Kiet wanted to know both.
His young fox ears were slightly tilted back, betraying the boy's tention, as well as his tail's slightly-tucked position. Nonetheless Kiet stoof in front of the man. Either he would allow Kiet to stay with him, or attack or leave him, depending on the truth.
The staff danced with white light, and Kiet's own shimmering white and blue aura began to form as the energy coursed into his veins.

Aurora nodded at the question, answering as well, “Yes I use magic, and I know what you are.” Not going into all that, it seemed the young boy didn’t like what he was, probably shunned by many that did, “You are welcome to stay with me as long as you like, lead me and I will follow, to protect you. You could say this is what I’m for, what I’m on this planet for, to help people like me.” Aurora smiled as he finished his speech.
He sat crossed leg on the ground, so he was the same height as Kiet, “Nice staff by the way, its powerful, keep it safe, use it well.”

Finally feeling safe, Kiet's arms dropped to his sides, though the light on the staff continued to flare. He blinked a few times and then stepped towards the man, and looked at him deeply for a few moments.
"People called it a demon weapon." he confided in a whisper.
But WHO?? Who are the people? asked his more mature self, angrily.
He presented the oak-colored object to Aurora's judgement, and his feet rocked back and forth. The man was nice, yes. But he wouldn't want a demon-boy jumping on him to be sure. Kiet wished he could have the kind of woman the other kids had---what other kids??--but he didn't.
"How old are you, 'Rora?" he asked, resignedly sitting down next to the man instead, feeling impressed and disppointed at himself at the same time.

Aurora paused for a moment, his hands passing back and forth a blue ball of ice, “I’m nineteen, nearly twenty,” he replied, “I feel a thousand though, it feels I’ve been on this planet a lot longer than I have,” he added, his eyes blazing blue for a second. “Anyway, how old are you? And feel free to ask questions if you want,” Aurora added, just encase Kiet wanted to ask more.

Kiet frowned again and thought deeply for a time. Years or months or days...the desert time could be any or all of them, plus the time with the unknown, unremembered people. His blue eyes clouded and took on a brief, hardly noicable crimson hue, befor he looked up.
"I think...around six...I guess." better to stick with what seemed right. Quickly judging from Aurora's appearance and age, and a few figures and dividing and such, and the Kitsune figured he looked around six or seven. Simple, he thought happily.
"Um." He looked doubtfully at the man, then spoke out fast, "DoIhavetosleepfarawayinthedarkbymyself?"
The question was direly important to him. He hadn't slept during the night hours by himself, terrified of the far-off howling and darkness that pressed in on him, but he was exhausted, and wanted to know what Aorora was going to do.

“Of course not,” Aurora replied right away, he closed his hand his ball of ice flickering, and then waved his hand three times, the first torches appeared around them, lighting up the whole area well, the second a fire, like the one they had before appeared to keep Kiet warm, the third a purple sleeping bag appeared next to Kiet.
“Get some sleep, I don’t need it, I’ll keep guard. Do not worry nothing will harm you while I am around.” Aurora told his little companion.

The boy looked at Aurora with a mixture of awe and adoration, simple feelings for a youth, and clambered into the soft bag. Never having had felt such a comfortable sleeping surface, Kiet curled up in a cat-like ball and fell asleep on the folded back sleeping bag, not touching the covers. He, in fact, wondered what they were for, the few sconds before he plunged into deep, pure, dreamless sleep.
The night was palpable, with fog rolling in that hadn't been there before the other man's arrival. The fog was moist and humid, and seemed to be made of thick black velvet. The weather was peculiar, but had Kiet been awake, he would have mentioned three other occasions where the weather was like that.
A brief moment passed when it was as if many eyes were watching him butit had been gone in an instant, along with the humidity. The night had still been thick, and something seemed left behind. At least, Kiet had thought so.

Aurora stood when Kiet fell into sleep and glanced around the borders of the torches he had set up, he wasn’t going to take any chances but nothing should dare to come to this little camp while he was here. He diverted his eyes to Kiet once again, he seemed pretty powerful for one so young, but only time would tell.
“Kuri,” he muttered. A second later, his mother appeared wearing her green robe, her red hair was sleek and it pooled in her hood.
“Yes Aurora?” she asked.
“I need you to hold down the fort at home for now, I’m going to keep an eye on the child,” he answered a second later, Kuri took a glance and smiled.
“Finally turning into a responsible adult now?” she teased with a smile. Aurora just nodded and she disappeared, teleporting away. He sat back down, watching and waiting for the night to end.

Kiet's eyes sprang open at the first sign of dawn, his ears shooting up from their lazy position as soon as the first rays lit the desert. His eyes were dazzling blue, as the sleeping bag material clenthed in his fist reassured him nothing had been a hallucination or dream. He yawned loudly, sharp canines glinting and his tongue curling up a bit, then bounded to his feet.
The caution from the last day was banished in happiness. His appearance was bright and energetic, the staff having never left his left hand, and his aura better than ever. His hair was a gentle, soft white silver, though the bangs were still in jagged locks that barely dodged his eyes, and the sides and back still flared out behind him. His ears were slick and shining, with lush black tips, and his tail was in the same condition. He darted up to Aurora in a display of grace and newfound speed, and looked up respectully to the man.
"What are you doing today? Are we going to go somewhere?" he asked in a careful pace, not letting his words run together.
His hat was replaced on his head from where he had fetched it, and the fabric seemed refurished as well. All in all, he looked as if his enitre appearance had been spiffied up, and for the first time since being lost in the desert...not lost so much as abandoned...he realized he was hungry. He had always been able to hold out a long time bfore hunger and thirst got to him, but a rumble from his gut reminded him he was low on nurishment, hence the skinny frame he had and haggard face.

“Sounds like you need some food,” Aurora laughed as he looked down at Kiet, “So lets go,” he added, waving his hand, the torches and fire disappearing as well as the sleeping bag, he then held out his hand which Kiet took, a second later they were standing before Aurora’s house on the coast of England.
“Welcome to my house, if you’d like to step inside,” he called over his shoulder to Kiet as he was now opening and walked into a massive hall, he took the first door on the right, to the kitchen where his mother was currently sitting at the table.
“Ah you’re here!” she exclaimed as he walked in, “I thought you’d be around sometime today, did you bring the child with you?” she asked, Aurora nodded.
“Yeah he’s here, think you could cook us some breakfast?” Aurora asked with a smile, “Also are the house protections up? No one can find us?” Kuri nodded at his latter questions, “Good.”

Baffled by the house's size, Kiet scurried behind Aurora, clinging nervously to the man's shirt hem. As they walked down a hall and then into a kitchen with someone occupying it, Kiet hid completely behind Aurora, hoping for protection from the person inquestion. As the two instead conversed casually, Kiet heard her mention 'the child'.
He told her about me..when? Are they both actually mean? he wondered in surprise of this new revaltion.
He released the man's shirt and looked up at them both in confusion. His gaze shifted entirely to Aurora as he resisted the urge to hide from the woman 'Kuri', and his eyes seemed to be asking for some kind of explaination.
"Who's she?" he asked in a voice he thought was quiet, but carried easily. The staff's glow was dimmed a bit in his uncertainty, and he peered around Aurora's body to her and then quickly withdrew it. If she wasn't someone that didn't mind his existance, then he didn't want her to see his ears by some unthough action. He blinked up and his aze returned quickly to the man that had rescued him.

“No need to be scared Kiet,” Aurora told him, “This is my Mum, she’s gonna be making us some food,” he smiled, as Kuri walked above from the stove.
“Hi there, it’s nice to meet you Kiet,” she said carefully, trying not to scare him before she moved over to the stove again, flipping the eggs carefully before putting some bacon into the pan.

The Kitsune sniffed tenatively and watched quietly as Kuri bustled about. Inching slowly closer to her, like a cautious dog, Kiet was eventually peering underneath her arm as she flipped eggs and fried bacon. As his ear brushed her arm he darted back, and two-stepped over an behind a table chair.
"Sorry!" he yelped, ducking behind the chair as he peered at the woman to see if he'd knocked her onto the stove with his light tap.
His white ears folded back and his cap slid down over his eyes until he pushed one side of it up to see with his right eye. To prevent further destructive issues, he slid onto the chair's wooden surface and held onto the seat in front of him loosely, studying the place with avid interest.

“That’s alright sweetheart,” Kuri smiled, he hadn’t pushed her that far and no damage had been done, Aurora sat at the table too and Kuri put two plates on the table, “Eat up both of you, I’m going out for a few hours now, I have shopping to do.” She explained and vanished into thin air.
“So, what do you want to do today Kiet? Your choice.” Aurora asked as he dug into his breakfast.

As he swallowed a piece of hot, greasy bacon in two bites, Kiet looked at Aurora. What did he want to do? The demon-fox had no idea what there WAS to do. He eyed the fork uncertanly for a moment, glanced at Aurora again, and deftly picked up the utensil to heft his eggs. He paused after another piece of bacon and relinquished,
"I don't know. I don't know much about...things."
The comment was mature, but it was disestablished when he shoveled in another forkful of eggs, spilling a bit back onto the plate. He looked back up at his rescuer to hear what they would do, a slab of bacon halfway in his mouth.
