OOC: New RP Lee and I just finished. We're just uploading this now. BIC: A bus coughed to a stop, opening the doors with a screech. About ten people bustled off quickly, the last of which was a young lady. The bus began pulling away before the she was fully off causing her to stumble slightly. She made a signal with her arm that was a tad inappropriate, then sighed.
After looking at a map for a moment she headed down the sidewalk. As always the city was crowded, but seeing as the air was chilled everyone was walking at a quick pace pausing for few things. It was a perfect day to be invisible.

“You shouldn't be so quick to anger,” A young lady of considerably darker hue was standing by the bus stop, a small grey satchel slung over her shoulder. “After all, his haste just cost him at least one paying customer. And I always tip well,” She smiled slightly, lowering her gaze enough for her brown eyes to be visible over her sunglasses, “But it does seem that I'll need to be walking to the exhibition...”

“I have suspicion that he doesn't care too much...” Mitzi sighed, “Besides I hate people like that. They're so... Well... I guess it doesn't matter now does it. You mentioned an exhibition, where at?”

“Oh, it's not much of a function, really. Just a new exhibit at the Vermillion Museum of Art and Art history. Musical instruments through the ages.” The girl turned, and began walking at a steady pace. Mitzi seemed to pick up on the cue, and followed the young lady. “My family's collection contributed a few pieces to the museum, so I just wanted to see them out there, being showcased. Reminiscing, you know?” “By the way, my name happens to be Thyra Russell, heir to the Russell estate and co-Head Executive of the Slateport reconstruction effort. I'm sorry that I did not introduce myself sooner.”

“Oh, no problem.” Mitzi smiled, “Thyra, it's so exotic, so pretty. Personally I'm not very musically talented, the only thing I can play is my iPod. A harsh wind whistled throwing small pieces of litter and dead leaves helter skelter, Mitzi wrapped her wild cherry scarf tighter around her neck, and clenched at her Burberry coat. “What do you play?”

“I don't, unfortunately.” Thyra pulled her well worn leather jacket closed, and affixed the bottom portion of the zipper. “Before the Slateport Incident, my parents had been providing me with lessons on piano and viola, though not too often. Most of my time was taken up with schooling in the first place.” “I guess that back then, I could play each rather respectably for my age... But after everything got destroyed, I pushed it aside. 'Don't have enough time.' I told myself. Even now, though, I still haven't tried playing either again.” Thyra calmly tapped the crosswalk button on the crossing signal.

Mitzi whistled slowly “That sucks.” Wordlessly they walked in silence for a while, only their footsteps echoing off of the neighborhood fences to accompany them. “You should try it again, I heard it makes you smarter. Or maybe it's just smart people play instruments. Never the less everyone needs a hobby to relax, my friend smokes dope, my other friend steals, I smash people you could play piano.” She laughed a little.

“Indeed, that is so. Except for the part about me playing piano,” Thyra's smile faded ever so slightly.

“So what happened, you know like what destroyed everything?” Mitzi's tone didn't shift much.

“Sorry, I had assumed that you'd at least be somewhat familiar with the incident there, but media coverage being what it is... Perhaps you were outside the Archipelago for a while?” Thyra cocked her head slightly. Tabloids and conspiracy theorists were still harping on what had happened that fateful day five years ago. It was one of the greatest occurrences of civilian casualties recorded on any occasion in the past fifty years, perhaps the largest of all. That the girl didn't seem to be abreast of the information... It could mean any number of things. She seemed too bright to have some kind of mental impairment, and her memory seemed fine as well. It was very unlikely that she'd have forgotten something of such significance. But on the other hand, maybe she ignored the news for some reason? Self centeredness, mayhaps? Or maybe it was just outright lack of trust. It was hard to judge. “Anyways, as far as my friends told me, and I could discern from being there firsthand, some of those South Pole Summoner dissidents attempted to attack a military installation in Slateport. Some Powers I know interfered, and after a brief skirmish, one of the Summoners did something that...” Her lips were closed, all traces of her smile now gone, “It leveled almost the entire city.”

“Gosh, and you were there. Some would consider you lucky, you survived. I'm not one of 'em. You survive, and your friends and family don't? That, my friend, sucks.”
“Actually to think of it, I did here about it, I didn't think it was a Summoner. Honestly I thought it was the government trying to cover their butt.” Mitzi rubbed her hands together quickly and blew on them.

“I can confirm it was a Summoner. My best friend got a few scars from that fight. Not that most people didn't come out worse, but-”

“Is there anyone other than you even left? Looking at it I thought they said there were no survivors. Not that my source was reliable in any way, shape, or form, but still... it looked bad.”

“There were maybe five thousand survivors in the city limits. So, there were survivors. Considering, however, that before that day, Slateport had a population of over one million, well...” Thyra sighed slightly. “But, we do what we can.”

"So did you fight the summoners or run?"

"I didn't. I was twelve at the time, after all. I was just having a sandwich for lunch, and then everything blew up," Thyra cleared her throat, "If I wasn't a Power, I wouldn't be here either. But that's not of much consequence right now..." Thyra gestured with her hand. A large brick building with ornate brass on its front doors was to their left.
"The Vermillion City Museum of Art and History. I used to come here all the time, since the ferries... Well, you know. Slateport is one of the five big port towns in the archipelago. Was. Well, is. Again, now. The bay was the area farthest from the conflict, so we were able to get the shipping yards functional again before almost anything else."
"Still is one of my favorite places to visit though. They have some really terrific exhibits about techniques in music, painting, and sculpture, and how they've all evolved over the ages."

"Wow that sounds, well it sounds.... Oh Lord it sounds positivly dull! How can you stand such a boring place?" She pulled at one of the large doors as she spoke. "I'm sorry. I... must seem truly terrible. Almost illiterate with no respect of the arts. It's just not my cup of tea."
"So what exihibit are you going to first?"

"Whatever one strikes my fancy, I suppose. But considering that they just brought in the materials for the 'Instruments through the Ages' feature, well, I'd say that's most likely the best option," Thyra handed two bills to a young lady at the front desk, seemingly circumventing the line. "Two, Thyra?" She asked brightly. "Yes, two. I'll be covering her as well." "Cool. Have a good time!" "Thank you, Hannah," Thyra said smoothly, and stepped through the turnstile. They moved into a long hallway, paintings along either wall. Each one had a crisp, black and white label, indicating the artist, the name of the work, and the year. Thyra didn't even slow down to glance at most of them, obviously familiar with them all. "I figured I'd cover the admission fees for you. It's not like you're exactly going to something of your liking."

"Gee thanks, I coulda paid though. I think that picture could've used a bit more colour, and that one a little less." Mitzi mockingly critiqued, she also was walking fast not out of memory, on the contrary, just to get out. "So you mentioned your a power?" She paused "What's it like? Have you considered the super villain idea?"

"Powers are just people. Sure, I can fly, and survive a nuclear blast, and blow a demon apart with a single rock at forty paces, but I'm still just a girl. Heck, I knew a guy that could kill every person in a city and crush mountains with a thought, and that was when he was getting weak. But you know what he liked to do? Sit around and eat popcorn. You know the last time I used my powers? I was getting a box of instant potatoes off of a shelf, and it was just out of reach." "It's not like, just because I'm different, that I'd consider changing my life all around. Not in the least. The only thing that being a Power means is that when things go bad, you can do a little more to help than the average person, hm?" Thyra pushed through the glass and metal door at the end of the hallway, into a much larger, central room. Bright sunshine streamed through massive skylights, scintillating on the dozens of glass cases below. Thyra finally paused, examining a case with what seemed to be a hollowed ram's horn in it.

"Hey is there a convention going on? I didn't see one on the pamphlet." Mitzi pulled out a map of the museum and a pen, then started marking things. Every few moments she looked up to glance around.
"Is there supposed to be a concert perhaps?" She asked looking around and making another mark.
"So- umm... How strong are you anyway?" Thyra glancing at what Mitzi was doing with a vague curiosity. All the exits for the building were circled and there were a bunch of random smile faces and frown faces as well.

"Not really that strong. I may have played myself up, ever so slightly. Hyperbole? But that's roughly what I can do. Fly. Barriers. Holy sling that turns whatever I launch into a hand grenade. That's the gist of it," Thyra took a look over her shoulder. There was a large number of people, mostly centered around the most prominent exhibit. It was an ancient church organ, said to be one of the first functioning organs constructed. There were elaborate carvings set into wood of it, each one dulled by wear and age, but still of clearly elegant artistry. The wood and pipes offset eachother, a dark, richly colored hardwood with gleaming brass emerging from its depths.

"By the way, do you like violins?" Mitzi circled one of the frowning faces darkly.

"Well, I did learn a bit on the viola, so you could say I had a fondness for instruments along those lines..." Thyra followed Mitzi's gaze. There was a cluster of almost two dozen men, each dressed as if they were fresh from an orchestra concert. And almost every single one of them carried a violin case with them. The only embellishment to their garb was a single bright green carnation, obviously dyed, pinned to the left side of their chest. Something seemed suspicious, but she couldn't quite place it. And, concidering her "emoticons", Mitzi was feeling the exact same way.

"I'm going to get a drink, I hate having a dry mouth when fighting death." She scampered around people to the drinking fountain and drank a generous amount. On her way back she bumped into one of the tuxedo men. He grumbled and she excused herself quickly. "Hmm Charles F-E-E-D-E-E-P, hmm what a strange name, Charles Fidip, so unusual. Oh look he has a dog it's so cute." Mitzi handed Thyra a man's liscense and a picture of a snarling pitbull. She herself continued going through a wallet. "No seriously I found it on the floor" she said avoiding Thyra's suspiscious stare. Though she did not try to cover pocketing two credit cards and a five dollar bill. "What? He doesn't need it," she explained, "Lackies are often paid well." She also pulled out a blank phone card. "That's wierd. Such a boring wallet" she sighed tossing it's remains over her shoulder.

"What about normal men in an orchestra, though? How's their pay? Do you think they can cover the fees for misplacing their liscense?" Thyra put a hand sternly on Mitzi's shoulder. "You can't just go and act like everybody is some villainous sneak-thief or something. It's not like every young lady is a prostitute, or every dashing young man happens to be a professional burgler running a con. These gentlemen all have instruments. That means that they are interested in music. Wouldn't that explain them being here?" Thyra put a hand up, removing her sunglasses. She tried to meet Mitzi's gaze.
