BloodWolf:
Innocent
Type: Grass/Ice
Died: By Mafia, Night 0.
Poor Blood, victim to politics more than Mafia. The spat between him and Loogs made him an obvious choice for the Mafia to kill (Almost too obvious, some would say!) He was revved up, but got shot down.
On the bright side, it DID give me someone to talk with about the events. So I guess it was a win for the host, after all.
Winnings: 0 EP, 5 Bonus EP.
Lugiasian
Innocent
Type: Fire/Psychic
Died: By Town Vote, Day 1.
Possibly typed only to give me a chance to reference the song “Flaming Telepaths”, Loogs was absent the first day, but was surefire dead even if she had been there to defend herself. She damned herself and Blood in Post Race, and it carried through to this.
Winnings: 0 EP
Fleetwolf
Innocent
Type: Steel
Died: By Mafia Night 1.
The Mafia knew Fleet was a dangerous variable, since she was new to the game and could play any which way. They killed her VERY fast. The suspicion she had for Kuroboom was the nail in her coffin. Not a bad player, which contributed to her demise.
Winnings: 0 EP, 10 Bonus EP
Prime:
Mafia
Type: Dragon/Dark
Died: By Town Vote, Day 2.
Poor, poor Prime. I don’t know what exactly he was planning, but he died in possibly the most epic voting clash in Mafia history. In the span of one night, like everybody dumped every bonus vote they had into everything. V101 and Kuro aimed at Lone and managed to get popular support, Lone and Clicker targeted Prime, and Prime went FUCKING DEATH BLOSSOM on Pohatu’s ass. We’re talking something like six votes of killing power, just on his own. However, Clicker dumped a Magnitude, and between that and Lone’s Dark vote, it was enough to take Prime out. Still, for creating a downright BADASS way to die, Prime was possibly my personal favorite this game. The final vote was:
Pohatu: 6
Lone: 7
Prime: 8
And either V101 or Kuro (I forget who Photu buffed) had –1.
Winnings: 50 EP, 20 Bonus EP
Kuroboom:
Mafia
Type: Ghost
Died: By Mafia, Night 3.
Every game of Mafia has one key figure, the guy or gal that DOMINATES the game. It used to be Babs, but as of IV, Kuro took that spot with aplomb. He was the Godfather that wasn’t, coordinating Mafia strategies and playing the Innocents with flair. Between his raw power, Prime’s daring strategies, and V101’s impenetrable façade, the Mafia was incredibly competent this game.
He also did an effective suicide play, which only got screwed up by the Mr. Magoo of Mafia.
Winnings: 50 EP, 40 Bonus EP
Pohatufan1:
Innocent
Type: Bug/Electric
Died: By Mafia, Night 4.
Poor, poor, befuddled Pohatu. Charmed by the wiles of V101 and Kuroboom, and repulsed by Lone’s… Unique take on the game, he ended up essentially being a Mafia member with no say in the executions. He did have some of the best accusations and a unique, clever strategy, however, and had his hunches been right, would have had a near perfect game. Alas, no such luck, though!
Winnings: 0 EP, 25 Bonus EP
Lonewolf:
Innocent
Type: Dark/Flying
Died: By Town Vote, Day 4.
To quote S.W.A.I.M.: FUCKING WOLF.
I swear, Lone was, as I called him, the Mr. Magoo of Mafia. He was headed in the right direction, but DAZNABBIT, Lone, I don’t think you could do any more bizarre, self defeating job of it. The most self destructive accusation since Kevin’s “IM A DETECTIVE, SHANK ME.” Post, picking battles with Kuroboom (the clear leader of the public vote), managing to bumble through and screw the Mafia up…
Every single action he took, I didn’t know if he was a deranged genius playing the game on a totally different level, or if he was just a confused newbie. Either way, he was amusing as hell, and was quite capable at playing the Inspector Gadget to the Mafia’s Doctor Claw. If only his talking dog companion hadn’t been gunned down on Night 0…
Winnings: 0 EP, 25 Bonus EP
Rupert:
Innocent
Type: Water
Died: By Mafia, Night 5.
Rupert had a fairly bland game this time, but managed to, for the most part, stay on course. He planned cleverly for having people suspect him as Mafia from the start, taking Water and playing his Innocent game around it. However, in the end, his hatred for Lonewolf ended up putting his talents on the wrong track, and the Mafia easily terminated him.
Winnings: 0 EP, 20 Bonus EP
Clicker:
Innocent
Type: Ground
Died: By Tie Breaker, Day 5.
Clicker didn’t do much, but she almost did enough. She had suspicions on every Mafia member, swung a critical vote just enough to prevent something that would have sealed the fate of the innocents, but it stopped there.
She wasn’t there enough, simply put. Though she was a very competent player, she didn’t show up enough to really swing things. This, more than any kind of competent strategy, led to her living to the end.
Winnings: 0 EP, 15 Bonus EP
V101
Mafia
Type: Steel
Didn’t Die
The sole survivor, V101 played the game brilliantly. Counting on people to underestimate her every step of the way, she made Pohatu her buff-slave, waltzed through with narry a suspicion pinned on her, and took away massive winnings. She played a much more subtle game than the other Mafia members, but that’s how a Mafia is. Subtlety at the right moments, brutal force at the right moments, and you’ll be the head of the family in no time.
V101, hat’s off to a spectacular game.
Winnings: 100 EP, 20 Bonus EP
In summary: This game, despite delays, lead into a ton of major innovations and provides lots of information for future Mafia runners. When given a choice, players tend towards more modular, secure powers. Nobody wants to rely on others for their firepower, or be tied down by connections.
It also lead into the new rules that all future Mafia games seem likely to carry:
-No player can die in the first die in two consecutive games (Meaning Loogs and Blood are immortal on the first day of Mafia 6)
and
-Whomever did more accusations in a tie-vote situation survives. If it’s a tie, well, whomever voted earliest more often survies. And if it’s still a tie, a tiebreaker vote is held.
So, two innovations and a heap of clever playing. Good game, folks, good game. I’m sorry for my incompetence as a host, and hope the next game will run more smoothly.
So, any final words before we close this sucker down again?
