Ardithstone:
Lin is a stressed out girl. At the age of only 18 she's handling her little sister and a crazy mother who cant do anything on their own. As if she didn't already have enough going on already some strange dissapearences are happening around her. The populus suspects demons and the police suspect HER. She's not as attractive as other girls and her mother is constantly at her to smile more. She's got reddish brown hair and green eyes. She's taller than average but not as clumsy as you might expect. Before her grandmother passed on she told Lin all about the powers their lineage had and that Lin must unlock these secrets and learn to fight the black luck that surrounds her and to see it for what it really is. Was it the ramblings of an old dying woman, or something Lin will be forced to see as truth...
Lin did her chores that morning. All the while with her mother at her back. Her mother was aging quicker than usual, most likely because of her addiction to alcohol, she lost the use of her legs but spares no chance to wheel out to Lin and watch her every move. She wanted any excuse to get away. While doing her chores Lin noticed a spot on the mirror down the hallway of their cramped apartment. When she got the glass cleaner and a clean rag to go wipe it down the thing fell of it's own accord.
"Great.." She mumbled under her breath. "Just what I need...seven more years of this."
Lin put back the cleaner and rag and grabbed the broom and dustpan from the basement doorway. When she returned to the hall there was her mother.
"What the hell did you do that for?"
"It was an accident... it just fell."
"Stupid girl!" her mother shouted in a rage. "As if this house needs anymore of YOUR bad luck. With your father in the hospital and the kids tearing the house apart every night."
"I do my best ma."
"You must have been at the shallow end of the gene pool."
"I suppose so." Lin breathed and when her mother was out of sight. "To have to live with you..."
She cleaned up her mess and filled the brown paper grocery bag with the broken pieces. Wrenching the last piece out of her foot she wiped the blood off with a piece of toilet paper and slipped into her flip-flops. The paper bag filled what was left of the trash bag and with a breath of relief and an excuse to go out of the house Lin slipped it over her shoulder and went towards the road to drop the garbage into the can. After she put the lid back on the trash can she thought she heard something rustle and a twig snap but she lived in the country where a lot of animals were always around so she shrugged and started the slow gate back to the house. The noise came again and louder so expecting to see an animal up close Lin waited silently and somewhat happily; she loved animals.
Me:
The scene panned over a beautiful dojo, placed in the high mountains of Japan (yay Japanese!), luscious fields of grass, and pure crisps winds, whispered across the peaks of the mountains. Standing on one of the protective walls was a female ninja named Aaeiga, her hair jet black, and straight of that of Asian decent. Her skin was slightly tanned from the trainings that have occurred outside of the Dojo.
Aaeiga's was that not of a ninja, but a beautiful warrior, someone you would see in battle directing orders, and fighting with amazing choreography, and skill. Her outfit was a one piece outfit, sleeveless and dark navy blue in color (think chunli's outfit, in regards to the shirt/skirt thing) on either side of the flaps, dangled a bladed ring, attached to a delicately crafted rope, which probably wouldn't serve much purpose in battle, but judging by her poise, she could make it deadly. She wore a metal mask on her face, only covering the outer edge of her mouth, and jaw, still exposing the mouth. The mask was made of a strong adamantium metal, and colored with a gold plating, it looked like that of a dragons mouth, but perfectly aligning itself across her jaw line, and mouth structure.
The seemingly powerful female ninja had a specialized weapon strapped to her back, ribbons wrapping around her chest. It resembled a giant boomerang, made from demon's bones, crafted to kill that of, which it was created. Demons. Strapped to her left legs was throwing knives, and on her hip was what appeared to be just a stick, but upon further instruction, it was two concealed swords, who use each others handles as hilts, so it could be a combination quarter staff, and double swords.
Aaeiga walked delicately down the wall, protecting the dojo, her arms spread out as if she was trying to balance. "There seems to be a shifting wind, and something is amiss..." She said quietly to herself, balancing on the wall, "It is only a matter of time, until I am called upon, by the force..." Smiling she ran her fingers behind her, grazing her signature weapon, "I wonder what it could be."
Ardithestone:
What sprang from the bushes was not what Lin was hoping but also not what her brain could completely comprehend. A shadow was there and then it wasn't. A freezing breeze grazed her shoulder and burned her with it's cold. She caught her breath feeling difficulty breathing. After the strange experience it was as if it didn't happen and Lin sighed and returned towards the bottom half of the duplex where they lived. It was twisted and altogether a stupid thought but Lin almost thought she'd rather something horrible happened so she didn't have to go back in. She opened the front door, looked back once, and then shut it behind her.
The afternoon went slowly Lin stared out the window seeing nothing more unusual. Why'd I have to graduate early? she thought to herself cursing her intelligence. School buses for the high school came and went and she watched unamused waiting for her sister elementary school bus to stop and drop her off. When the school bus came Lin stood up and shrugged her hooded sweatshirt on. Her cat Lora paced on the front porch uneasily balancing effortlessly flitting her black tail back and forth.
"You know." Lin said petting Lora and waiting for the bus to back in. "I got you to irritate my mom. You're a black cat and all, but I kinda like you anyway."
Finally the bus beeped to a halt and opened it's doors. Alli bounced out of the bus excited as she always was with her strawberry blonde hair in pigtails that flopped around as she started skipping towards the house. At that moment Lin caught sight of what looked like a deformed part on a bus window but then it moved.
"Alli! look out!" Lin shouted not knowing what to call out.
Alli did look but she didn't see. An invisible bubble picked her up and she screamed.
"Alli!" Lin screeched jumping off the porch and running as fast as she could. Jilted to a stop by some unseen force Lin screamed "NO!!!" and the world shook for a second. The bus moved on with the driver completely unaware and kids in the back looking sickly pale and terrified. The world rippled as Lin screamed "NO!!" again this time with her mind intuned. When the ripple was gone Alli was propelled from the things arms. Only now did Lin see... for the first time she really saw what it was.
The creature was a hideous black plasma textured thing with no way of telling where it's head was. Looking to see where Alli had dissapeared to Lin saw she had some of the plasma still gripping to her forearms. Without knowing what she was doing Lin focused on the stumps of tar attached to her sister and they disintigrated making the creature cry out in agony and dissapear with a ripple as if it were jumping into water where there was only scenery.
"LIN!!" Alli cried frightfully and ran to her jumping into her upper body and nearly knocking Lin to the ground. "What was that? What just happened? I was so scared! I couldn't see anything and I tried to bite." Lin hushed her hysteric sister and rocked her as if she were an infant.
"I don't know." Lin whispered and turned to go back into the house. As she walked to the house Lora hopped down from the porch but she looked appaulingly different than she used to. "Is that Lora?" Lin asked, setting Alli down but keeping a firm grip on her hand.
"Of course it is. She's all black member?"
"But she's not now..." Lin squinted uncertainly. "She's got glowing bits of gold....or is that...jewelry?"
"Lora doesn't wear jewelry!" Alli laughed swatting at her sister.
"I'm not kidding" Lin said avoiding her sisters slaps. "Look at her! Don't you see it!?"
"Lora...what happened...you were normal a second ago." Lin said kneeling down.
"I looked normal to you before. Now I'm not anymore." Lora said in a crilling voice half meow, half english.
Lin nearly passed out but instead walked past Lora and put Alli down in the doorway. Refusing to look back and feeling she was at her wits end Lin told Alli to watch TV and Lin skulked to her bedroom with a million questions and no answers.
Me:
The winds in Japane whipped up ominously, swirling and playing around in the green blades of grass surrounding the dojo. Aaeiga gripped a small silk handle on one end of her boomerang, she was prepared for something to happen. Running forward, she lept from the side of the wall, "Hiraikotsu!" She screamed, her voice echoing into the deep valley's of the mountains. Her boomerang zoomed forward, the sound of it slicing through the air heard many times before demons perished into a bloody cess pool. It began to zip around, its speed picking up, "Come on..." She whispered to herself, hoping that her assumption wasn't correct. Hiraikotsu sliced through what was invisible, pain apparent, the color of the being changed, black blood exploding outwards. Aaeiga kartwheeled to the side, catching Hiraikotsu, by the silk handle. She extended her arm outwards, and spun around, "Hiraikotsu! Second blow!" She said throwing her demon made boomerang again, slicing the black demon once again, leaving an "X" shaped screaming being, until it disappeared into the light.
"What the..." She cursed to herself, raising her hand, calling Hiraikotsu to her, the momentum from the boomerand causing her to have to flip backwards to catch herself. "It seems as if the black demons hath return from the darkness, from whence they came..." She tightened the ribbons of her weapon, and quietly walked back to the Dojo, "It seems that there is a journey ahead of me, and I sense that there is another powerful being involved..."
Ardithestone:
That night Lin couldn't sleep at all. She sat in her room with a book pointlessly in her hand, for she was staring somewhere else rather than reading it. Her eyes blinked as they needed to but Lin wasn't in her body really at that moment.
When it became to infuriating for her she threw the book onto her bed and walked into the main part of the house. Her extended family was there. Alli was playing with Jay and Rachel, Lin's brothers kids. Lin's brother was camped out on the couch flipping through the TV channels faster than she could read. Romy, Lin's sister-in-law, was cooking dinner with Lin's mom. Lin coursed through the livingroom to the kitchen glad to see everyone was preoccupied, it was summer so it was finally getting dark at 9. Lin walked out onto the back porch and shut the door. She walked to a plastic picnic chair and sat down leaning her arm and head against the side railing of the porch.
"You still want to be outside at night after what happened in the middle of the day?" came that crilling voice. Lora jumped out from under the old grill and crossed the wood porch to sit on the railing across from Lin.
"At least my family wont be involved if something..."
"Actually. It's odd but the night is safe. Everyone thinks they need to be afraid but it's the other way around."
"So..." Lin said changing the subject slightly. "You talk now?"
"No," Lora shook her cat head. "you talk now."
"Oh..." Lin chuckled. "I wonder what that must look like."
"It looks like you're staring at me to them." Lora said flitting her head in the direction of the house. "We're in a completely different plane now."
"Whoa." Lin said shaking her head. "And I thought my head was going to explode before."
"Heads don't explode...they just... expand" Lora said simply.
"Why...and how..." Lin breathed. "Those are the beginners questions I have."
"I'm sorry." Lora bowed her head. "Usually there's a sensai involved who can tell you everything." She jumped down to sit more comfortably on the canvas chair below her. "That, I'm not... All I know is you started talking. All I can do is sense things. Like that beast today."
"So...No Mister Miagi for me then huh."
"I know only as much as you figure out and tell me."
"Crap."
"It's nice to have the company though."
"Yeah." Lin smirked. "At least we have that." Lin looked up at the stars that were starting to populate the sky. "Do you think there will be more...of those things?"
"Maybe. I don't know." Lori sniffed the air. "Though there's definitely something coming. It's all over the wind."
Lin and Lora sat looking across the open field expectantly.
Me:
Aaeiga entered the dojo, her bare feet lightly tapping the hard wood floor. She approached a shrine, where incense was burning, letting off the aroma of tea leaf extract. Placing her fist on the floor she bowed her head down, to what seemed to be talismans with names of past Dojo leaders.
"Please," She said with a small voice. "Guide my Hiraikotsu, and my blade... It seems as if Demons are returning from the underworld."
Wind picked up through the dojo, the talismans on the wall flapping in the breeze, the smoke from the incense was un affected by the gusts. "Strange," Aaeiga said taking note of the the strange winds. Before she knew it there was a ghastly figure standing in front of her, but not one that would be a threat.
"It seems as if you are in need of guidance," The figure said obviously.
"It seems I do," Aaeiga said respectively lowering her head to her fallen leader.
"I have left the Dojo in charge to you, and you are sworn to protect it..."
"I realize this, master, but it seems to be a world wide threat, I can sense that the--"
"Silence!" The figure said silencing Aaeiga.
"My apologies, master," Lowering herself to the floor even further.
"I have already consultated the other members, and we have decided to send you to a companion. Her name is Lin, and she has secret powers, that she does not even know about." The figure paused, "We have decided to conveneince you further, and you will be teleported in 3.... 2...." The figure laughed and dissapated into the incense smoke with a loud snap.
Aaeiga felt sick, her stomach doing back flips, she gripped her abdominals, and lurched forward, the scenery around her changing completely. "Ow...ow..." She said rocking back and forth, everything spinning. Finally it stopped suddenly, throwing Aaeiga on her side. She was now laying in the middle of yard, outside of someone's house.
