"No, nothing here either," Illiana muttered, glancing up and down the path. She had made her way into a public park, her eyes darting about as she searched. Her agitation seemed unusual since it was a calm dawn. The sun was out, and there were barely any clouds. A gentle breeze played around her clothes as she stepped over the worn path, apparently deciding that she was safe. She still attracted a few strange looks, but she expected that. Wearing a black hooded coat on a day like this was bound to attract some attention.
Illiana was on the hunt. Thanks to a few of her contacts, she had been informed about a number of strange occurances in the area. The details were sparce but from what she could figure out, people had been uncharacteristically attacked by animals that had no place in this part of the world. Not only that, but apparently the animals all sported a mutation of some kind. She couldn't figure it out properly, so she was hunting the area for any signs.
Sighing slightly, she pulled the hood down on her coat and slipped out of it. She knew, already, that her green hair would not cause as much of a stir any more. She ran her fingers through it, just keeping her side fringe from her eyes. All things considered, she actually dressed fairly normally if the coat was not included. A pale blue t-shirt and dark combat pants. Hanging at her waist was what looked like a spearhead, with a pale orb in the blade.
"A few more details would have been appreciated..." Illiana muttered, stopping to rest on a tree stump.
At the same time, someone else was apparently searching. He, too, was in the park. In his hand, he held what looked like a handheld radar. A series of dots were visible on it, though he was making no attempt to follow or find any of them. With a few button presses, the display flickered and at least three of the dots changed colour from blue to red. With a satisfied smile, Samm looked up and checked his position.
"Reporting in," Samm said into his mobile. "Tracking the activity. I have my thoughts, but I have to find out some more. Not getting directly involved. Any more info? Ok, thanks."
Samm hung up and slipped his mobile phone back into his pocket. After quickly readjusting his mask and brushing a few strands of hair from his face, he looked at his radar again. As far as he could tell, no one was in any danger for the time being. He needed to focus now. If his hunch was right, things could potentially get a lot worse.

"Still no luck?" A light, cheerful voice came from above Illiana's shoulder. The Summoner turned to face her company, and gazed upon a familiar face. An average figured young woman in jogging gear was perched on a sturdy tree limb, her purple locks trailing down past her and fluttering in the breeze. Phantasmal chains, the residue of a previous spell, orbited around her. She swung her dangling heels for a few moments, letting the ambience around her dissipate before she made a move.
She pitched forwards, snapping her legs back and clinging to the tree with her knees. She paused for an instant, her locks falling around her like lilac rain, and then let go. She tucked into a front flip, only emerging from it in time to catch herself on the path in a kneeling position. She remained in the pose, head bowed, tresses sprawling out to all sides like some kind of cloak, not looking up to speak. A shadow appeared from above, something else from in the tree. The woman tapped his fingertips on the stone, as if waiting, as the pink object lazily wafted down to her, and landed slightly askew on her head.
She sprung up, adjusting the oversized tophat, and extended her hand.
"Helen Mercury. I might not look it, but I'm an ally of the cause..." She cocked her head slightly, and then spoke again, this time in a more confidential tone.
"Miko sent me. He heard one of his contacts mention that you'd be looking for something here, so a quick scry and 'port, and, well, here I am," Helen paused again, and adjusted her hat, the single dyed ostrich feather jutting from under the ribbon around it fluttering in the breeze.
"And yeah, all my entrances tend to be like that. When you're a performer, it helps drum up some business. Kinda."

Illiana nodded, an appreciative smile on her face. Needless to say, she had been impressed by Helen's remarkable acrobatic skills. Any movements like that she could make were limited to on the battle field. "Thank you for coming," she said. "I've been searching for a while now and nothing's come up."
Illiana sighed slightly and stood up from the tree stump, placing her coat neatly where she had been stood. "I was told that there was something odd happening around here," she explained. "For some reason, animals that shouldn't be here are, and they've been attacking people even though they're supposed to be docile animals. I thought I'd look into it, but I can shake this feeling..." Illiana looked away from Helen and around the park. It was more forest-like than she initially thought. Because of this, she kept on getting the feeling that she was being watched.
"Oh, it doesn't matter," she said, shrugging. "But if you don't mind... can you help me look?"
Samm ducked around another tree, masking his movements fairly well. Something was amiss. The locations of the animals were changing, some of them vanishing and new ones appearing out of nowhere. He kept his eye on his radar at all times. There was something very unsual about this, and he was trying to make a pattern out of the movements.
"It almost looks like... but no, it can't be..." Samm muttered. As soon as he came to his realisation, he started moving again, shooting through the trees to the edge of the park.

OOC: I may or may not post as soon as I decide if this new character's occupation is stage hypnotist, hypnotherapist, or cryptographer.

A bit farther down the trail, on a park bench, a man turned the page of his newspaper and pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose. Rhys was enjoying his lunchtime here, half-interestedly perusing the paper and observing people as they passed. Presently, he was reading over the clues to the crossword puzzle, trying to decide if he wanted to give it a try or not. As he scanned the page to find out what the clue for seventeen-down was, though, his paper drooped the way papers tend to do, and Rhys noticed a younger, strangely-dressed girl who appeared to be searching for something with little success. A moment later, there was a flash of color behind her.
Rhys hadn't been trying to eavesdrop, and he certainly hadn't had any intention of getting involved, but...he recognized that lavender hair.
The women turned to look at him as he approached, paper tucked under his arm, applauding the magician's entrance. "Helen," Rhys said, an amused kind of half-smile on his face, "so nice to see you again." He then turned to the other girl. "I don't believe we've met...?"
OOC: Four hours' sleep + sugar-induced ADD = this post ^^;;
Also, yay! I started this before El posted again, but it still pretty much fits. So happy I don't have to rewrite it!

"Hmmm... I did try running a scrying spell on the area, but it didn't lock onto anything unusual for some reason. Or at least no animalistic creatures beyond mundane ones. I thought I picked up traces of some people with powers around here, but it was hard to count them," Helen brushed some dirt from her knees, and continued walking.
"I'd hope that I'd be helping you. It is why I was sent here, after all," Helen said with a playful grin.
"Miko doesn't give us missions very often, but I think he'd be ticked if I just skipped out on one like thi-" Helen paused as they came upon Rhys.
"I- I'm glad to meet you again, too," Helen brought a finger to her chin, and tilted her head slightly, "I suppose that you must've been what I was picking up on when I was scanning near here. Not an entirely unpleasant surprise."
"Anyways, this is Illiana, an ally of mine. Illiana, this is Rhys... He's a sparring partner I met a little while back. Shake hands or whatever, doesn't really matter to me," Helen waited for a moment.
"Illiana says there's something weird going on with the animals here. Disappearing, appearing, acting weird, y'know. And... Well, beyond that, I don't really know that much," Helen pushed her hat higher on her head.

Illiana nodded as Helen spoke, absorbing the information as it was supplied. There were Powers in the area, which was news to her, but other than that... Maybe that was what one of the Powers was doing. Hiding in plain sight. She didn't know that the park was a hotspot for supernatural people, though maybe that was just a coincidence. A fairly unlikely coincidence, but maybe...
"Oh, it's nice to meet you," Illiana greeted Rhys, shaking his hand. "I take it you're a Power, too? It's a bit of a trend around here, apparently."
Illiana considered this. With herself, Helen and Rhys, that made three powers. If she factored in the cause as another, that made at least four. Maybe there was some relevance in there, it was hard to believe that there'd just happen to be this many people at the site of a clearly supernatural incident who were supernatural themselves. Something didn't add up, but she couldn't decided what.
"I think... It might be a good idea just to comb the area? See if we can find-"
She was interruped by a sudden rustling in the undergrowth behind them. Just in time, she turned to see a boy bursting from the bushes. She just about registered purple hair rushing past them before he was gone again. What was that about?
"Er, so... Shall we start?"

"I believe we shall. Do we want to just do this on foot, or do you mind if I use a slightly more… Ehm, esoteric method of looking around?” Helen pulled her hat from her head, and began rummaging through it. “I must say, funny that a kid with a similar hair color to my own would be here. It’s… not the rarest, but people really don’t dye their hair this shade too often.” Helen tittered quietly to herself, “Of course, this all would explain the situation quite well, were we to be in the midst of some effect that manipulates probabilities towards the far ends of the scales. That’d lead to a coincidental meeting of Powers, a rare but organized behavior, as well as the random occurrences of mutated animals, a normally rare and chaotic event.” “Buuut…” She shrugged, and then palmed something before putting the hat back onto her head, “I’m not sensing anything like that. I could try some magic, but usually I can pick up on it. Mage’s instincts or whatever.” “If you’d like me to launch a surveillance spell, I’ve found the component in needed. So, just say the word-“ Helen waited for Illiana’s verdict, and studiously averted her gaze from Rhys. OOC: Short, but hey, we're moving agan.
