Yoshimitsu stood at one side of the arena. His pose was perfect. Calm, relaxed. His arms held loosely to one side. His whole body angled. His weight shifted on to one food. His Sneasel stood beside him, holding the same pose. The pair of them. Perfectly calm, perfectly balanced, perfeclty ready.
"No arena tricks on this," Yoshimitsu said. "Remember what I told you above different ways of attacking. No move has a single, uniform execution. Especially remember the special move. Nothing could ever expect that." Sneasel nodded appreciatively. While he knew all these things, Yoshimitsu was just reminding him because his trainer did not want to see him hurt. It was not being pedantic, it was being caring.
"Alright, show them what you can do," Yoshimitsu said. Instantly, Sneasel shot from Yoshimitsu's side with incredible speed, landing on the arena, returning to his relaxed pose.

Sly looked over at the corner of his trainer box where Mew was sitting. The small psychic cat was holding a sign that said ‘Go Yoshimitsu’ on it. Sly frowned and turned his attention back to the field. It felt like ages since he had participated in a pokemon battle and the familiar feeling seemed to energize him. He glanced across the field at Sneasel as it readied itself for battle.
The pokeball in Sly’s hand enlarged and as he brought it up he said, “Good luck.”
As the ball flew though the air it opened and expelled white energy that leapt down onto the ground. For a moment, the energy sat and pulsed before finally forming into Bulbasaur. It was smaller than the average Bulbasuar and instead of the usual green skin the body was light blue with a teal flower bud on its back.
“Bulbs?” it asked curiously.
“No, I don’t think so.” Sly answered as he kicked the dirt around in his box. He glanced over at his opponent, “I’m ready whenever you are Yoshimitsu.”

"In that case, Sneasel," Yoshimitsu said. "Start things off with a Taunt."
Sneasel nodded, then looked at Bulbasaur. The catlike pokemon raised a paw and gestured at the Bulbasaur mockingly, in a clear "come on then" motion. He then relaxed into a different stance, knees bent, paws raised slightly, ready for the first round to really begin.
"No point beating 'round the bush in this match. Besides, I'd hate to see some kind of leech seed and toxic combo," Yoshimitsu said said, grinning.

“I’m not nearly as crafty as that,” Sly said with a wink. He stuck his hands in his pockets then issued his command, “Use vine whip. We’ll see what that does.”
Bulbs nodded, “Buba saur!” Two long green vines stretched out from under the bulb on the pokemons back. They hung suspended for a second before slicing through the air at their target.
Sly looked down and let out a low sigh, “He’s still to slow on the start.”

"Reflect."
Sneasel nodded and pointed his palm at the incoming vines, then gestured to the side. A wall appeared in front of him, then melted around him, covering him in a strange glow. The vines hit, of course, but the damage had been halved. Sneasel skidded back a bit, but was soon up and ready for the next round.
"So far, I think you're doing a good job as an annoyer, Sneasel," Yoshimitsu said. "Next round, we start letting out the big guns. Whatcha say?" Sneasel nodded his approval, and readied himself.

“Saur?”
“Yes,” Sly said, “Tackle now that it’s set up.”
Bulbs nodded and the pokemon’s vines dug into the ground near Sneasel, one on either side of his opponent. Using the retraction speed of his vines, the Bulbasaur was able to propel it’s self quickly across the ground, far faster than normal. As he neared Sneasel, his back legs kicked viciously causing him to go airborne.
“Mew mew…” Mew said as he watched.
“Yeah, but he’ll have to learn the hard way.” Sly said.

"Clever. But that's enough of that. Quick Attack, get it from behind," Yoshimitsu said.
Sneasel nodded, and watched the approaching from the air in a surprisingly clever combination. The cat pokemon was not deterred in the slightest. When the Bulbasaur looked like he was about to hit, Sneasel vanished completely, moving with speed natural to all Sneasels, and appeared above Bulbasaur. He brought one foot crashing down, ready to kick off of the dinosaur-like pokemon if he hit.
"Gotta hand it to you, Sly, you're pretty clever."

Sly watched as his pokemon was kicked to the ground. Bulbs skidded a few feet managing to stop it’s self with vines that were still firmly grasping the ground where Sneasel had been.
“Tackle again,” Sly said calmly.
Bulbs nodded and used the retraction of his vines to propel its self quickly along the ground. This time he would stay closer to the ground and not open himself to unavoidable attacks.

Sneasel, fast though he was, had not expected such a bold attempt to hit him. The grass pokemon hit him full on, but as everyone knows, cats always land on their feet. Sneasel flipped and slammed his paws against the ground, slowing his progress, before he finally skidded to a halt and landed properly.
"I've had enough of that as well. Torment," Yoshimitsu said.
Sneasel looked at Bulbasaur again, his eyes glowing a faint blue. Almost comically, he stuck his tongue out at the dinosaur, and pulled his left bottom eyelid down. Hopefully, that would stop more repeated attacks.
"Like I said, Sneasel, you're being a pretty good annoyer for now," Yoshimitsu said, grinning. "Whatcha think, Sly?"

“I think,” Sly began, “that using a simple move such as tackle was insulting to a trainer who seems to be capable of handling a lot worse.” Bulbs had partially retracted his vines, which were now looming menacingly in the air between the two pokemon. It was staring t the awkward face its opponent was making. “Let’s say we stop messing around now.” Sly said. “Bulbs, Tripod Maneuver.” The grass pokemon nodded as three more vines slithered out from underneath the bulb on its back. These vines were thicker and rougher and went straight down to the ground. As they continued to lengthen, the bulbasuar was lifted up off the ground and into the air. When the vines had fully extended, Bulbs was suspended ten feet in the air. The two normal vines were folded in front of him as though they were crossed arms. “Now lets see if you pokemon can actually fight.” Sly winked. OOC – A – It is a commonly known fact that Sly makes his own TMs. So you will see moves that are not in the shows or the game. B – This is not what Lee and I were talking about

OOC- Oh, I don't like you now.
BIC-
"Not bad, Sly. But let's see what your Bulbasaur can do with frozen vines. Sneasel, Icy Wind."
Sneasel jumped back, holding his palms parallel to each other and summoning up an icy element, a dim, translucent orb that formed between his hands. The cat pokemon thrust his palms at the opposing grass type, and immediately a blast of freezing wind exploded from him, with flakes of snow and ice flowing steadily from his palms. With a bit of luck, the attack would not only hurt Bulbasaur, but also chill the vines so that they were not quite as receptive.
"Sneasel, the battle's gonna go up a notch now. Let's show them that we mean business."

“Bulbs,” Sly called out, “Use Water Gun!” “Buba saur!” Bulbs acknowledged. The two vines unfolded and aimed for spot on the ground just in front of the attack. At the end of each vine an opening appeared like a nozzle. Water gushed out and met the attack creating a wall of ice between the two pokemon. Sly smiled, “Surprise!” OOC- That’s what Lee and I were talking about.

"I'm not worried. Not one bit," Yoshimitsu said. "Sneasel, you know what to do."
Sneasel nodded, and looked at the wall of ice, rubbing his paws together. Instantly, the white fur on his paws, and his pink ear and tail, all started glowing a vivid brick-like colour. The cat pokemon ran at the ice wall, jumped, and launched a flurry of quick punches that smashed the ice. The punches were launched with so much force that the huge chunks of ice were thrown at the dinosaur as they broke apart.
"Nice Brick Break. Sly, your sharked Bulbasaur still doesn't scare me," Yoshimitsu said, shrugging.

Sly clapped his hands in delight, “Wonderful, Bulbs bat those pieces away!”
Bulbs two vines went to work knocking the pieces away, trying to send as many pieces back at his opponent as he could. Several pieces did manage to get by, most striking the heavy thick stalks that supported the tiny pokemon leaving small shallow cuts. One large chunk grazed his belly creating a sizeable jagged scratch in its wake. Bulbs winced but remained upright and continued to hold its stance.

"Come on, Sly. Why aren't you attacking back?" Yoshimitsu asked. "Sneasel, don't get too close to the Bulbasaur. I don't trust Sly as far as battling goes. Ice Beam."
Sneasel nodded, and jumped back another meter or so, gathering the same icy element between his palms, this time in a very visible orb, glowing blue and white. He thrust his palms at the Bulbasaur again, this time several bolts of ice, looking more like lightning, spread from the orb and blasted not only at Bulbasaur, but also at the arena, freezing whatever it came into contact with.
"Sly, you're planning something... Why else would you be so defensive..."

“Saur?” Bulbs asked.
“Yeah, even if you try to dodge at least one of them is going to hit you. In that case, use Vine Whip.” Sly answered.
Bulbs nodded but did not use his two main vines. They crossed in front of him preparing for the brunt of the attack. Instead the ground behind Sneasel erupted as one of the thicker vines tore up through the ground. While Bulbs had been holding his position the vine had been burrowing underneath field. Now it was poised behind his opponent and ready. There was no pause as the vine grew up from the ground, it moved forcefully up into the air and then down towards its opponent.
“Yeah,” Sly said, “I’m always planning something.”

"Aha. Not bad, Sly. Not bad," Yoshimitsu said as Sneasel was caught unawares. The cat pokemon had turned just in time to start his dodge, but as he dived to the side, the vine smacked down on his legs, sending him to some kind of very painful forward roll. However, he was back on his feet, looking a bit beat up from the fall, but still with plenty of energy.
"Too bad that I'm better. Sneasel, Avalanche. Right from the sky," Yoshimitsu ordered. "Make the arena look like Snowpoint City."
Sneasel nodded and, gaining unnatural height, jumped straight up, both of his paws glowing violently. He spun in the air, snowflakes flowing from his paws, as he prepared his attack.
"Sly, I know you'll already know this, but I'll explain it anyway. Avalanche is one of the moves that powers up if the user has just taken damage," Yoshimitsu said calmly. "Have you seen a normal power Avalanche? It's nothing to shrug off, is it? You can't ignore it. Now, take that power and double it. Sneasel, do it."
Sneasel nodded, and pointed both palms straight down. The effect was immediate. An avalanche. Snow and ice blated from Sneasel's palms in a wide cone shape, completely filling the air. Yoshimitsu raised a hand, and formed a shield around himself, the ice and snow flying his way as it bounced off the arena. Sneasel finished his attack and landed on the now snow-filled arena.
"Figured out my strategy yet, Sly?"

“Maybe, though if you’re as good trainer as I think it wouldn’t matter. You’re strategy would be changing from moment to moment, adapting to each turn the battle created.” Sly said as the barrier Mew had created around them faded.
Bulbs had abandoned his tripod stance and was back on all fours. Ice sickles hung from his nose and vines but he remained standing. All around him was a clear sheet of white that seemed to intensify the brightly lit arena. It was clear that Bulbs was in far worse shape than his opponent but Sly didn’t seem worried.
“I’ve noticed that I get a sunburn faster when the ground is covered with ice and snow.” Sly said to Yoshimitsu, “Its because the white surface reflects so much light that it doubles the power of the sunlight.”
Bulbs smiled and opened his mouth to reveal a large growing ball of energy just over his tongue.
“Solarbeam.” Sly said.
The amount of snow and ice on the ground had created a ‘sunny day’ effect. With so much light reflecting off the ground and back at the tiny dinosaur the time it hadn’t taken long at all to collect enough light to launch his attack.
“Saur!” Bulbs yelled out as the large destructive beam tore through the air towards Sneasel, sending the snow on either side of it flying.
OOC – I really enjoy fighting El. He uses my stuff against me and vice versa.

"In the long run, yeah. But for now, I'm turning the arena into a snowfield. Sneasel can easy get through the snow, he lived in it. Something tells me that if I can stop those vines, your Bulbasaur is gonna struggle a lot more than Sneasel."
"Sneasel, brace yourself. You know what to do."
Sneasel nodded, and watched the incoming beam, the blast of pure white energy shooting towards him. Being hit by that would take a massive chunk of his health, and he simply couldn't afford to to lose that much. Instead, he would use the trick that he and Yoshimitsu had perfected. Sneasel raised his paws, which were glowing with a sinister darkness, and took a step to the side.
The beam hit. Kind of. Sneasel appeared to have grabbed it. The cat looked like he was straining to stop the attack, as his brow was furrowed, looking as though he was concentrating very hard. Then, it happened. Sneasel's glowing claws, powered by his Dark type, sun into the beam somehow. In a swift, solid movement, Sneasel spun round, dragging the beam with him and threw it right back at Bulbasaur.
Yoshimitsu nodded at Sneasel, as the cat started kneeling, recovering from the effort the attack used. "A perfect Faint Attack. I've always believed that if a Dark pokemon can disappear using Faint Attack, why not channel that dark energy into something else?" Yoshimitsu explained. "Sneasel had a knack for it, so we decided to try it out. Whatcha think?"
Yoshimitsu grinned as the Solar Beam, now tainted with a Dark type, shot right back at its launcher.

“Seed Bomb.” Sly called out.
Bulbs made a sound as though he had something stuck in his throat. As his mouth opened several seeds shot out of his mouth and towards the beam. Just went it seemed they would be enveloped by the energy they detonated. Solarbeam collided with the explosion strengthening the detonation; the result was a massive burst of energy that cleared away much of the snow. Large banks of ice and snow lined the inner edges of the ring.
“Buba saur!” Bulbs called out from the top of one of the snow banks.
“He’s starting to get rather cocky…” Sly said to Mew.

"Not bad, Sly. Not bad at all," Yoshimitsu said. "But we can't have that, can we, Sneasel? Hail."
Sneasel nodded, and pointed his palm at Bulbasaur, then gestured to the side. Instantly, clouds started rolling in from everywhere, moving as though they were being pushed by the strongest winds. They gathered over the arena, and then began their assault. Countless hailstones in various sizes started to pound down on the arena, bouncing off the floor and starting to cover it, once again, and freezing it over.

“Headbutt.” Sly ordered.
Bulbs nodded and slid down the snow bank avoiding the larger chunks of ice that flew towards him. Smaller chunks were unavoidable and didn’t cause much damage. When he hit the ground his two vines slid under his feet and he appeared to be skiing on the ice at an incredibly fast pace.
“Mew?”
“No,” Sly said, “You should know by now that I never have the intention of winning when I enter a battle. Like a real fight, you push hard and fast. If Bulbs fails he’ll grow stronger and wiser than he would if he won. So either way it’s win-win.”
Mew rolled his eyes and sat back in his small little chair. He had replaced his “Go Yoshimitsu” sign with a neon lit sign that flashed “I Believe in Yoshimitsu!” which now floated slowly around the trainer box.
OOC - Soo.... who do you think is gonna win?

"Sly, please," Yoshimitsu said, waving his hand. He sent a strong electrical current through the neon-sign, hopefully making it burn out. "Sneasel, you know what to do."
Sneasel nodded, turned to look at the incoming Bulbasaur, and braced himself. The hail that was bouncing down on the arena was nothing to him - he had grown up in the frozen land near Snowpoint City. The below-zero conditions hadn't managed to freeze him, so the hail would definitely not be able to. Yoshimitsu nodded to Sneasel, as Bulbasaur smashed into him, in a perfect hit.
However, Sneasel barely skidded back, and his hands were suddenly glowing brightly. He jumped forward, and scratched at Bulbasaur with twice the force that Bulbasaur had hit him with.
"Counter."
OOC- Buggered if I know.

Sly smiled, “Solarbeam.”
Bulbs opened his mouth wide to reveal an already growing ball of energy. Sly had hoped that Sneasel would attempt a physical strike but the battle so far such a chance was fifty-fifty. Luckily for him, the Sneasel was gliding through the air towards Bulbs and at point blank range.
“Buba, saur!!” Bulbs yelled as the massive beam of energy tore out of his mouth once more and towards his opponent.
Mew looked at the flashing neon sign as it passed by him once more. It now read – “Be in Yoshi!” He tilted his head awkwardly and glanced over towards Yoshimitsu.
