There was no other way.
That's what he kept on telling himself, anyway. He had no doubt that his decision to act would haunt him, but he was putting the needs of many before the needs of few. Even so, he couldn't quite shake the feeling that he was being incredibly selfish in what he was about to do. That said, the number of lives lost in the long run would be much fewer this way, wouldn't it?
Yoshimitsu was hovering about a mile above a city. It was a pretty busy city too. One city alone, he knew, would not be nearly enough, but he could worry about that later. He raised his hand to his face, and could feel the fire burning, surging through his fight, just begging to be released. It worried him that his body was more than willing to do what he was about to. No time for second thoughts. His hand erupted in flames, and he pointed his palm at the city.
The effect was instantaneous. A sheet of fire rolled through the city, burning all it touched. Cars melted away, people were so scorched not even bone remained, even buildings lost lower levels and started to collapse. The flame burned through the city, splitting in two and continuing before Yoshimitsu finally called off his attack. Not all the city was destroyed, thankfully, just enough to make a message. There was mass panic. From the sky, Yoshimitsu could see what he had done.
He had burned the letter 'Y' into the city.
Yoshimitsu teleported to the next city.
The news reports weren't helping the panic either.
"This just in, another city has been attacked by an unknown person or persons. This one has been frozen, and satellite pictures are telling us that it is the letter 'O', and... wait... Another city has been attacked! A tornado has ripped through this city with tremendous force. There have been no survivors of the attacks, but it seems that the person or persons responsible are not destroying the whole cities. The third city has had the letter 'U' destroyed into it."
It wasn't until the eighteenth letter. That was when the message made sense.
"YOU WILL LOSE, VINCENT."
Yoshimitsu stood on Mist, the island with many climates, watching and waiting.
