"Oh, you're awake are you Airin?" James said, rooting around in one of the bags and passing him some food. "Bout time, you've been out for two days, and we've been getting worried about you. You better eat some food, you must be starving. And when you're done, would you mind telling us how you got out of there? Bound to be an interesting story if you broke out alone. Though it's not like we had a hell of a time with it either."
He looked across at Stray, "Stray, Airin, Airin, Stray. Stray we picked up just after we broke out. We don't know what her name is, or what she can do. Which is why I'm calling her Stray. Its a bit of a joke, but she seems okay with the name." He shrugged.

For the past couple of days, Stray had been looking at the rearview mirror anxiously. She wasn't a fool. The only reason why they had escaped Dracon was because of the nature of the ambush, catching him in human form... If he had been a dragon at the time, things would have been entirely different... She still was expecting some gigantic flurry of wings to pass over them, and end their break for freedom.
"I guess I can drop a bit of the secrecy," Stray said, smiling. "But my name is still a secret." She extended a hand, the hairs all standing on end. "For some reason, the hair follicles in my body produced organic spines inside my hair. If I tense up my muscles, the spines rise, as you see here."
"Don't touch them. I've been found to secrete a substance from my spines that works on the brain to knock people out cold. Some people shrug it off, but most can't take it." She sat still, looking at her knees. "Because of my power, my mother died giving birth to me, overdosed on the toxins..."

Dracon slammed his fist on the table furiously "Summer, I am going out to retrieve them, I will destroy them all if they do not comply with my orders!"
"No, you cannot destroy them. You must bring them back, just make sure they are alive okay..." Summer said gently.
"You're right, but this doesn't mean I am not mad!" Dracon screamed, using his code name instead. He pulled out a piece of old yellow paper. "This is an old drawing, one that I have been saving. It took me several hours to draw, and by god, it's my most powerful of all..." Dracon smiled. "But we will use this at a later time... until then..." Dracon said pulling out a pencil. "I will need a flyer." He began to draw a dragon specifically for flying and seeking out prey. It had eyes better than several hawks, and was faster then a cheetah on land, and could fly longer as well. It had four wings, so it could use one set, then switch in case it got tired.
Dracon ripped out the sheet of paper, and threw it in the air. His body structure began to change, and his flesh and blood began to rip from his body, and swirl around him. It then snapped back with a loud bang, and he was now a hawk/dragon bird thing. "I will be back soon... if not, send out a search team, with some reinforcements. Make sure they have mental blocking helmets on as well," Dracon said in a slithering tongue. He then opened a window with his claw-like hands, and flew off. He wouldn't make it to the escaped powers until dusk. At night, when he was least visible, would be the time to attack.

James looked over Airin a little more critically, suddenly noticing that he didn't seem to be moving a whole lot. His telepathy automatically reached out to detect the problem. "Ah, I see. You're paralyzed. You'd better work on that. If we're attacked, I'm not going to be able to spare any power to protect you. The only reason we managed to get away from the dragon guy so easily was because I surprised him. If I don't surprise him again, we could be in for some real trouble."
He located the problem at the base of Airin's spinal cord, and caused his synapses to surge at that point, breaking through the barrier. "You should be able to move now. Eat, stretch, use the can if you need to, but do it quickly. I don't want to stay exposed for too long." He looked over at Dave, "Yes, I know you're not Tarzan. Think of it this way, you can either choose to be a monkey, or APCARP will choose to make you a monkey in a cage. Probably with very interesting lengthy needles to go along with it."

Sun began to set, and still no sign of the escaped powers. "Hmm..." Dracon thought. "Maybe I need to fly higher..." Dracon adjusted his wings, caught a gust of warm air, and went soaring into the sky. He peered down with his sharp eyes, and caught the small band of powers. "There they are" he thought, and he began his free-fall. He let out a loud roar, as his structure began to change once more.
Dracon's wings began to shrivel, and spikes protruded from his back, and began to glow with a dark energy. Several eyes began to pop up on both sides of his head, and his lower jaw extended outward. Black scales soon began to form over his green ones, and began to glow with an evil energy. Then his tail grew longer, and spikes came out of the end. He landed a few feet away from the powers' encampment. "I hope I am not too late," Dracon said in a slithering tongue.

Airin moved around painfully, his limbs still aching. He had been nibbling cautiously on a chip, trying to figure out how he had went from the middle of the desert (he remembered the whirlwind now), to being amidst the company of so many people, when a enormous roar cut through his reverie.
Almost choking on the chip, he sat up from where he'd been leaning on the police vehicle, and cast a wary look around. The monster of a dragon wasn't hard to spot, but Aero found it hard to do anything besides look at it.
"Uh-oh," he muttered finally.
A definite understatement.
He finally regained use of his mobility, and stepped a few feet back. Clearing his throat, most likely unnecessarily, Airin looked around for a weapon.
"Oh... wait."
He outstretched his left arm, and watched in a deattached way as a flickering blade of fire formed. That was relatively easy... he mused, then lifted his eyes back to the... issue.

Stray tried to remember Dracon's capabilities. She, herself, never had truly fought him. Swung at him, yes. Seen him humiliate other attempted escapees with minimal effort, yes. A true battle? No. He had some kind of regenerating abilities, not that she knew the extent of them. Otherwise, his abilities all depended on the form he took.
She'd just need to try him out and see.
Stray lept to her feet, rushing at Dracon. Her hair rose on its spines, forming a flaring mane behind her head. She attempted a backhand slap to Dracon's hide, putting all the force she could muster into the swing. Her attack glanced harmlessly off of the armor. She spun into a kick, but it was evident that her lack of firepower made it impossible for her to get through.

Dracon let out another roar. His might could make the fiercest creature turn tail and run. He opened his mouth. Dark matter began to form, giving him a very evil presence. He bent down, and unleashed the huge beam made of no known substance, a beam powerful enough to go through a several huge buildings, and just keep going. It was wide spread, and powerful. Noting that he was just trying to scare the kids, he stood up on his hind legs again. "Next time, I will aim right for your heads..." Dracon said, without moving his mouth. The voice was deep, demonic... angry.
Dracon began to charge, lowering his head and swinging his tail, trying to hit anyone that was caught in the path of this terribly mighty creature.

Stray shook slightly, but knew that they had to stand and fight. There wasn't any other option for them... She ran for where she knew a rifle to be stashed, and dove for it. She knelt, aiming at Dracon's hide and firing. The sound of richochet filled the air as bullets glanced off of his armor, and bounced into the surrounding terrain.
Realizing its total ineffectiveness, she looked at the police cruiser. "Hey, James, mind if I do?"

James scowled fiercely as the beam flew past him, and decided to stop it before it caused anyone else trouble. He put up a telekinetic barrier in front of it, into which it slammed. A sudden energy drain took James. He cursed, and, realizing he could just stop it, changed the barrier's angle, and sent the beam flying into orbit instead. He turned towards the dragon man. "YOU SON OF A BITCH, DON'T FUCKING INVOLVE CIVILIANS!"
He lashed out with his pyrokinetic power, creating a directed explosion heading right towards the APCARP lackey. Seeing that Airin was out of the car, he picked that up and threw it at the dragon man as well. "Let's get the hell out of here guys, this isn't worth it!"

“Don’t mind if we do James,” Dave agreed. They had to get out of here; they were not match for the… dragon… person… thing. He concentrated, and for anyone who was watching including Dracon, they disappeared, apparently Dave had the ability to become invisible. This wasn’t the case though, Dave was manipulating the very light around them, and he had curved it around their small group so no one but the group could see them.
“Into the jungle. Now! All of you go! I’ll go last and hold this demon off if I can. James, you take point?” Dave asked.

Stray frowned, and started thinking very strongly, hoping that James would pick up on it. <He may not see us, but he sure can smell us. Could you possibly create weak forcefields around us so that he couldn't smell us? Otherwise, he's just going to track us down again.>
Stray began quickly and quietly moving for the forest, her invisibility keeping her evident skill from being seen.

James picked up on Stray's thought (she was being rather loud) and telepathically communicated the need for a wind blowing AWAY from Dracon's nose to Airin. <I hope you're up to this Airin, but we seriously need wind. I do NOT want to get eaten. Make sure it's blowing away from the dragon man eh?> He turned and headed toward the jungle, erecting barriers around the others' feet so they wouldn't make a sound. <Hey, everyone. Watch out for flies. I hear there are some that lay their eggs under your skin. And the larvae get HUGE. Like, they start lifting up under your skin and shit. And the only thing you can do about them is break their necks, and wait for your body to absorb them.> He shivered. <Or cut them out I guess.>

After hearing James's voice in his head, Airin had to find an opening in the dragon's wild thrashings. His sword of fire wasn't doing anything besides protecting Aero from getting swatted by the drake's tail and claws, acting as a sort of blocking tool. He timed it carefully so that his sword exploded into a few wild sparks (he didn't know how to properly dispel it) as soon as he began focusing on the air around him.
At first the gusts whirled only about the boy, whipping his hair and clothing around feverishly, but then it tamed, and began blowing away from the dragon, towards the group of escapees instead. As he turned to run after the others, Airin could feel the hard winds he generated feeding on his strength. He ignored it. He followed in the general direction Stray had taken, blinking rapidly as his hair was blown into his face.
"I hope Mr. Dragon doesn't catch me," he called to nobody in particular. "This is taking concentration..."

"Gracias..." Summer said to the Mexican president. She left his room, and flew to the border of America and Mexico. She soon arrived there and she lifted herself high into the air. She pulled out an MDX, a brand of Mountain Dew, with a lot of sugar, along with caffeine. She chugged it until it was all gone, and something miraculous happened.
Summer began to glow with an intense bright green light; she could practically blind anyone in range. She held out her hands, and seeds fell to the ground and started to grow, slowly at first, but then they erupted with lush trees, accelerating through time and age. They were so dense they formed a giant wall, that surrounded the main entrance into Mexico, which was probably where the escaped powers were heading.
The trees were finished, and it seemed to be a miniature redwood forest, trees that looked thousands of years old, grew in only a few minutes. Summers' powers drained; she landed on the ground limp, and Dracon held her in his arms. "Good job. Now I will nest in the trees, and APCARP will plan a surprise attack. These guys are not going to get away."
POHATU EDIT - OOC: Product placement, yet? I smell a candidate for that "Biggest Sellout" award RLRL suggested...

Revenant appeared from the shadows, creeping close the trees. He didn't want to be here. The ability of one of his foes to control nature of some sort could be distressing. His shields could take a lot, but a good jolt of electricity was not on his "fun" list. And a bolt of lightning would put his powers out of commission for a long time. Still, he had been given orders, and had to obey. ------- Stray followed the group closely, using their vibrations to track the others. She just hoped that the APCARP members wouldn't catch on and send anybody with echolocation or similar senses after them. They were hidden, but there were always some irreparable crack in their defenses...

"If you don't want to do this, then I will take care of it myself. I just have to be on guard better, that's all. Besides, we have a lot of lackeys waiting in the trees as well..."

Revenant stuck a blade into the trunk of a tree. "It's this whole B.S. assignment. APCARP seems determined to see what these people can do, doesn't it? I mean, really, why not just use a teleporting Power to zap them back into the base, and then shut down their powers?" Revenant shrugged. "It just feels like we're getting used as testing dummies this time, instead of soldiers."

Dave took up the rear of the group, following them into the hot jungle. He was feeling drained: holding up his light powers to hide the group was taxing on his mind, and energy. He took it down; Dave doubted they would follow the escapees in here. Too much chance of an ambush.
"Your invisibility is gone guys, you can be seen now," Dave shouted ahead. He heard a crunch of a twig behind him and he managed to leap behind a tree, just in time as a gunshot was heard a second afterwards. Dave chanced a look. One APCARP standard soldier. Where the hell had he come from? Dave didn't mind though, he concentrated and blinded the man for a second with some bright light.
He ducked out from behind the tree, and covered the distance between them and slammed a light covered fist into the soldier's gut, burning him badly. Dave left him like that and again began running further into the jungle.
Dave shouted ahead again, "James! We've got company!" Dave figured there had to be more. Soldiers came in groups, not on their own.

"Shit!" James cursed. "Why couldn't they just let us go!" He stopped. "I've had enough of this. Everyone stay close to me." James scowled, and his brain power surged. He poured all of his telekinetic and telepathic energies into his pyrokinetic abilities, and snapped his fingers. His hands lit up, then grew to an intense blaze, growing until it was almost a pillar of flame. The topmost branches of nearby trees had already been set alight. He spared a little bit of his power to open a telepathic wavelength. IF YOU WANT TO LIVE, GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS FOREST NOW!
He kept the others safe, but everything outside of 10 meters of himself suddenly exploded in a blaze of fire. Leaves were incinerated, bushes and brush burnt to nothing, trees became instantly bare and charred. The intense heat caused the air to become plasma, and lightning bolts randomly jabbed each other across and above the fires. James let the flames continue about a kilometer to the side of the road from which they'd entered the forest. Then the flames snapped off, and anything with enough life left in it to continue burning, burned.
It was only then that James realised the sun had set.

"Aw heck, they've gotta be kiddin' me. This guy's at least a few classes above me," Revenant muttered, and darted from behind a thick growth of trees. He almost managed to ambush the group, but some girl managed to cry out a warning in time. Crap. That one with the spines. He should have remembered that she had impact senses.
He quickly shifted his blades to their only other form, skintight gauntlets, and took a swing at the psionic. He'd try to distract their powerhouse, and whomever else stood their ground could help him take apart the rest of the party. Revenant shifted his blade back, and attempted a slash for one of James's shoulders.

James scowled, and Revenant's attack came to a fast halt on his force screen. "Piss off." He lifted the ground up under Revenant, and prepared a whole series of preplanned attacks in his mind, in case the previous one didn't work. After the first attack, he directed psionic blasts at him, then psionic blasts reinforced with pyrokinetic energies, and after that it started getting ugly. Blades of psionic energy began lashing out, alternately cutting through trees and putting craters in them, seeing as James wasn't very precise with his powers as of yet.
On top of it all, he blasted out fear-mems with his telepathy, effectively making anyone with even the strongest mind several times more afraid of him, unless of course they had a psi jammer or another telepath to protect them. He made sure to avoid affecting his friends, but treated anything else that moved as fair game.
He began to expand his psionic awareness, becoming aware of everything within approximately five hundred meters. He dropped a few words into his companions' minds. <Put up a fight, make them hurt. We don't want to be worth the effort of capture, so fight with all your strength. Eventually they WILL back off, if only for reinforcements. Do a good job, I can't keep this up much longer. It'll only be another few minutes before my mind loses cohesion, and I won't be able to control this power at all. And, trust me, that would be a bad thing.>
He sent them an image of everything within a ten-kilometer radius being blasted with psi-storms and random eruptions of his power, assuming he lost control of it. As an afterthought, he sent that image to his attackers as well.
James gripped reality and twisted it, doing his damnedest to kill everything that meant him or his friends harm, and God help anyone on the receiving end.

Revenant took several blows from the energy blasts, trying to catch them on his forcefields. Whenever they hit, they'd get easily negated. However, one hit him in the face, and Revenant winced as sparks flashed through the mask and into his face. When the blades began coming down, Revenant readied himself, bracing for the attacks. Most blades missed, randomly cutting through APCARP lackeys and surrounding terrain. Revenant was caught by one of the blows, his forcefields blocking the attack.
Though his forcefields effectively held off the attack, the heat from it began to take a toll on Revenant, leaving many small burns up and down his arms. He sweated profusely, straining to keep his arms in the way of the attack. Slowly, he inched to his right, and then rolled clear as the giant blade came crashing down. When the fear hit, Revenant braced himself. He HAD to do this. Something more important than life itself depended on this victory.
Revenant threw himself at James, only dodging attacks that would amputate limbs or cause other such dilemmas. Anything that would only cause burns, or cuts too shallow to be severe, was taken full-on.

Dave watched the oncoming attack, and shoved James out the way of Revenant leaving Dave himself in the APCARP member’s path. Revenant lunged into Dave, hard. Dave was thrown back but managed to roll on the ground and bring himself to his feet, in a defensive position.
“Don’t give James all the fun you APCARP scum. Leave some for me eh?” he said to Revenant as he dashed forward, again using his tactic of manipulating light into his enemies' eyes to blind them for a few seconds. He jumped the last few meters, his hands igniting with a bright, very hot light. He swung hard at Revenant's face, twice.

James executed a neat roll as he was pushed out of the way, and ended up on one knee, momentarily in the clear. He shut a great deal of his powers down. He could feel them eating at him on the insides, and focused his energies in a new way. He reached out to all of his companions, and forged a temporary link with his psionic brain, allowing them access to the energies and abilities at his disposal. <Don't draw too much power.> He told them. <Too much psionic energy in your brains could kill you.> He then manifested a psionic sword, and darted forward from the side at the same time Dave swung at Revenant, going for a double team attack.

Teeth bared in a newly formed grimace, Airin was putting more than his all into fighting off the APCARP "lackeys". In one hand was his blade, now flashing wildly in a kaleidoscope of elements. One moment it would be stony with weight, throwing stones wherever it was swung, the next it would be ice-based, freezing body parts as it came in contact, then breaking them off as the actual blade swept past. His other hand was used for creating quick wind-shields.
Airin's exhaustion was lost in battle adrenaline, and he ignored James's offer for more power... for the moment.
Ducking deftly underneath one man's fist, he brought his sword upward, the flaming blade sealing over the man's severed chest as soon as it was cut through.
Just like a light-saber, he mused, laughing out loud.
A shot rang through the air, and Aero nimbly threw his right hand up, engulfing his own body in a protective force-field of wind. He darted forward, whipping his sword through a few more lackeys, then launched himself into the air. From his vantage point, the battle was more gory than anything he'd read about. Then he was plunging back down, swiftly firing out shots of rock at lightning-fast speed, piercing the APCARP troops like the most accurate and deadly bullet.
I wonder if I could use lightning... he questioned himself in a detached way, deflecting another gunshot with his stone-blade.
Dismissing it for later, he took a deep breath and halted. Closing his eyes he increased his winds' power. Before long a miniature tornado whirled around him, with Aero standing in the "eye". A few alarmed cries of men confirmed their unwanted participation in his technique. Holding it until he was afraid of the duster taking flight without his jurisdiction, he pushed the collection of lackeys out, sending them soaring into more foes.
He caught sight of the Revenant-Dave-James battle, hovered uncertainly for a moment, then sprung into the air once more. He landed and dashed up to the combatants, and brought his own blade down, uncertainty making him keep it in a rudimentary fire form.
Let's see him dodge us all! he thought with a blast of childish pride.
