It's time to put everyone to the test. You say you can sprite and I know you can, but let's put your money where your mouth is and show your stuff. I will play Judge and Jury in this contest (and if need be I will hire a couple other judges, but I'm trying not to). I will provide a description of a character and you all with sprite it to the best of your ability. It's not going to be an easy one, so be prepared.
I will be judging in a few different areas. First off there is overall appearence, which pretty much explains itself. Second we will have color choice. If the colors seem to match the discription the points will be higher. Third point of judgement will be smoothness of pixels. If it's smooth, points are higher. Fourth point will be on originality. If you just cut a past a bunch of parts, you're gonna lose out on points. The final point of judgement will be on shading. Shading may not have to be outragious, but it's highly important.
Now, all you need to do is sign up here if you're interested and I'll begin the description and constructing a point grid. Good luck to you all and there will be no favoritism or malace in this contest, by myself or any of you. If a fight breaks out, I will remove you from the contest.
Have fun!

Can it use sprites from any game, or does it have to be pokemon stuffs? But whatever the answer to that, I'm in.

More in the style of pokemon trainers, but it can be anything just as long as it falls under the guidelines. Just try to stay in the area of trainer style sprites.

Ok, game time!! This discription comes straight from the "Sword-for-hire" topic. This isn't gonna be easy. You have till the 22nd to post your submission, so have at it...here it is.
"The young mans face was set like stone, yet soft at the same time. A pair of piercing blue eyes graces his slightly pale complexion. A mane of deep brown hair, nearly the color of the bark of the tree behind him, fell slightly around his face and slicked back to a set of spikes behind his head. A set of sleeves the color of red autumn leaves stood out from just past the middle of his hands to the top part of his chest, ending the fabric like a long sleeved shirt with the torso cut away. On the bottom of the sleeves were pale gold designs that appeared to be shaped like a tribal phoenix. The same color of cloth graced the top of the collar of the sleeved unit, which popped up to the top of the mans neck, as well as an area of leather padding on each shoulder. A rich golden ring with a light blue stone in the center gripped tight over each bicep. Under this unit of clothing was a simple, light earthy brown shirt that clung to the mans well toned abs, as well as a set of gloves with the tip of the index and thumb cut away. A simple pair of autumn red shorts that came to the bottom of the knee graced the strong figure of the man. The shorts bore the same design as the sleeve like unit of clothing with the phoenix at the knee, but the leather padded area was on the side of the hip. A pair of simple, toeless boots cast in the earthy color rested softly on his feet."
The earliest you can post a submission is 12:01 am Sunday and you have until 11:59 pm on the 22nd to post.
Have fun.

Well, I think I've got my work cut out for me. *hires Iron Chef commentator to give a play by play on his spriting.*

I deff like to join if its not to late. Yikes. Do you have to describe it like that? what about the simple minded?! EDIT: I had no clue what to do but this is what I came up with:

It's not to late to jump in, so feel free.
I tried to make it hard so you could prove yourselves. It's a very challenging subject so I thought it would work well.
You're all down to 6 days...Just a warning.
EDIT: I've also added a 6th area of judgement, known as accuracy. The closer you are to the description, the higher the score.

BTW, DL, Loogs has been unable to get to a comp since last Thursday or so, on a family vacation. Could I ask for a day or two extension of the deadline for her? She gets home t'morrow night.
I should have a sprite soon. I got a little sidetracked last night.

Ok....We have a delay until July the 24th. That's Monday. Post before then though, the extention is only until Loogs posts her entry and once that happens, the contest is closed and ready to go. Judging will begin after that.

I honestly hate to do it, but I'm going to let it go until the 26th. If no one else posts something by then, judging will begin. I don't want to do it but I have to see what Lee and Steph have to offer. POST SOON!!!

Well, I’ve waited far to long to do this, but the contest is closed. Now time for the Judgement. Ultracow: Apperence: 7/10 Color Choice: 10/10 Texture: 4/10 Originality: 7/10 Shading: 8/10 Accuracy: 5/10 TOTAL: 41/60 It looks pretty good, but the pokeball turned me off on this sprite. He seems to have a large glut area and the leg areas a rocky at best. All in all its a good sprite, but could be smoothed out. BulbaBoy: Apperence: 8/10 Color Choice: 10/10 Texture: 5/10 Originality: 7/10 Shading: 6/10 Accuracy: 7/10 TOTAL: 44/60 It's smooth for what I've seen of your work. The colors match up well and you are the only one that got the sleeve design right. It is a bit pieced together. It's also a bit choppy, but it works. Cinders: Apperence: 6/10 Color Choice: 10/10 Texture: 6/10 Originality: 8/10 Shading: 4/10 Accuracy: 4/10 TOTAL: 38/60 The design in itself works, but it didn't really fit the decription. The 'wings' as I call them don't really work for it and the sleeve design don't work for me. You are the only one that tried to attempt the phoenix design and I give you credit for it. Good job to everyone, but it appears that the winner is BulbaBoy. Congrats to you and to everyone else. Hope you all will compete again when it comes around next time. Till then, I will award the winner, BB, a whopping gift...Once I figure out what it is.

I'd definitely be in. Even if I lost this time, I like trying again. Oh, and it's really hard to draw a phoenix that small. The collar... thing was hard too. *stops ranting*
