Alright kids, I'm hijacking this thread and opening up the floor for Post Race IV discussion!
I invested heavily into the last lap's challenge, and it seems to have been a fantastic shitstorm for most of you. Apparently nobody liked it, which does not bode well for some of the laps I have still coming.
But that's ok! It's as much your race as it is mine, and if the challenges suck Kong balls, then you're likely to get fed up and toss in the towel, and nobody wants that. SO!
Show of hands - who wants to see more riddle challenges in this Post Race? Do you want the laps to be tricky or straightforward first-come-first-serve? Also, feel free to toss in any ideas of your own!
EDIT: This does not mean the Race is on hold whilst we discuss amongst ourselves. You're getting the next stage tonight whether you want it or not.

I hate games with riddles in them, especially riddles that still make no sense even after you solve them by chance -.-

Well good sir, I want it
I don't want anymore riddles though, that's a bit much for what should be a posting race. I love everything else you've done with it, except the fish one where the smallest one lost, but I don't mind it terribly. I think you've been doing a really awesome job, especially with how long you spent setting it up, and I really appreciate that. But the riddles... that's a bit too much and that last one seems too obscure to me (I still haven't figured it out either).
I'd say keep it more straight-forward. If you really want to throw a curve-ball, then save it for the finale.

I will admit that I overlooked the fact that threads move when you post in them, and the riddle had everything to do with Mad Rabbit's location BEFORE Iron Mouse figured it out and posted in it.
BUT, I also want this race to move fast (like it should) and figured it was totally acceptable to put up the challenge, let ONE person figure it out, and everyone else would then go charging in behind them once the posts started popping up in 30 Most Recent. So figuring out the riddle is important, yes, but if someone beats you to it, just jump in behind them, grab your position, and figure it out later.

I dunno, I like how Biscuit is finally making Post Race interesting for once. There's more at stake this time than "HURR DURR POST AS FAST AS YOU CAN". I'd say this is like what Mafia II did to the Mafia series.

The problem with that lies with how posts can happen to bump it off. I don't just mean the Scrap Heap, which is performing awesomely and as it should, but RPs (Househeld can put up a lot of posts on a good night too) and stuff in General. So it's not the most reliable way to go (though it was for the most part successful. The only reason I got by was by looking at Fleet's most recent posts)

Should've told us to PM you a link to the appropriate post instead of replying to the topic. Then the last one to PM you gets dropped out. Just a thought for next time.

Sadly I'm agreeing with Pohatu on that... though I hope I don't see the need for that >.<

Okay, I had a post written up about this, but my internet ate it.
This wasn't so much a riddle as a problem solving exercise, when you think about it. Considering the multitude of options that one has, I really don't think we should be complaining about unfairness. On top of simply knowing which topic is the right one, there's also running a search for words common to the Post Race lap updates outside of the Contests Forum, checking the most recent posts of other racers (especially Iron Mouse, who, no offense, barely posts outside of RP and Post Race, or myself or Pohatu, who are typically only active in RP Discussion and Post Race these days.), or just lingering on the Most Recent Posts page to see if any leads crop up. (Those of us who are staff, I'm doubly disappointed in any who had trouble. The security logs directly STATE where Biscuit made his edit.)
So, all in all, as I said, it's just easy problem-solving. I like it. Keeps us on our toes, and gives us some depth to the game beyond "vroom vroom, F5, high speed internet." I hope any future host who tries this will choose a less important thread for the hijinks (amusingly enough making The Scrap Heap the BEST place for something like that), but it was a novel idea that IMO, held up very well. Props to Biscuit for possibly the most creative idea since the inception of Post Race.
But yeah, the PM idea works brilliantly, even for one or two standard laps of the race. It was one of my favorite tricks in Post Race III. It turns it from "Oh crud, I lost!" to "Ohhh... I hope that I wasn't the last one to send a PM in!" It's a fun change of pace.

You have your opinion, I have mine. We all do. The great thing about Post Race is that it is so full of innovation that it creates such things.
I'm just glad I helped to launch it.
