Gg wiki.
I propose a different name for the Kviasonteuhasonhuas. Something more effeminate. I'd say "something french" but I'm already using that as a base for the plant-people. Maybe Italian would be a good place to start. Or maybe mess with the word "Amazon" or "amor." In fact, looking into Amazon legends might be a good place to start. But I have to go to work, so I'll do it later.

Shall I assume that by "Kviasonteuhasonhuas" you mean the Collidans?
Ugh, all this recent involvement with World Building is making me want to get back to work on my book. ARGH! If only I could access my old computer!

Just gonna jump on the World Building Bandwagon. Man that band is playing pretty loudly in general! Regardless; Ever since I saw that volcano back on page -2 I had a good idea for it and it's been buzzing about inside my head like some kind of ADD gnat. What if that stuff coming out of it wasn't lava? What if, instead, it was water The whole concept of just hoping the water would come back to the top struck me as kind of ridiculous. But what if, instead, the water that was pulled down off of the earth and into the volcano-type-thing because of a deposite of the magic crystals? The water would be pulled down into it and then, if turned into a vaporous material, re-condensed by cold as opposed to heat. Cold enough to turn the water vapor into water, but not enough to freeze the water inside of it. The water could be propelled by a triangle-esque symbol formed by three deposits of crystals placed at two spots on the base and a ring of them at the top. The water's movment (pre-determined by the crystals) would arc back up to the top, adding a stream of water to the Holy Blitzball Field in the Sky. Further, because of the intense ammount of magic crystal required to move all of that stuff, what if a very small group of people populated the solid area around the volcano? I mean, it puts them directly next to a water source, it's loaded with magic, and if someone fell off of a rock they could simply land there, instead. Because of their exposure to the crystal, they would have a heightened resistance to magic attacks, because of the constant, close exposure. But also because of the abundance of magic crystal, it becomes a basic skill. I'd say about half of the population would have a skill level deemed "Intermediate to advanced" by the people living on the top-level of Aleta. And because of their ability to harvest magic crystal, they've learned to forge and refine it into various things. They've made magic weapons, clothing, accessories, but most importantly, they've discovered vehicles. These vehicles have magic crystal placed at various joints on the body of it, with a central crystal on a pedastal at the front of the cart. One simply has to push down on the crystal, and it connects the points of travel on the wheeled cart, and it moves at a consistent rate of its own desire. The crystal then functions as sort of a joystick, completing various patterns as it glides to and from various circuits. Because of this, they're allowed to turn, though not as swiftly as one might like. (So if they got stuck, one might have to get out and put it back on the proper track.) And to turn it off, they simply pull the crystal up, incompleting every triangular circuit. Gods I talk a lot. While the monks above are in charge of making sure that the Sin Sphere only pees on certain parts of their world, the monks below are making sure that it only drinks so much of its urine again. The monks focus on purifying and more accurately directing the water. Before it was just kinda dirty water flowing in a loose cycle, with precious bits floating into the Mist or out into space (assuming we have a space), but now it's pure and it flows in a perfect circle. And based on this, the wizards/magicians/witches down there would have a stronger concept of water magic, though I wouldn't go so far as to call them Aquamancers or anything. They just have more practice. Settlements would be based around natural water springs, where there are leaks in the volcano and water wells up in natural recesses, and also around significant deposits of magic crystal. But like all societies, there is that one area that you just don't want to be in. It's the largest grouping of magic crystal down there, but it has warped the creatures and people that live near it. The crystal there has actually saturated the air with magic crystal dust, and people are accidentally inhaling and injesting it whenever they get too close. This allows them to be powerful bloodmages or whatever, but it also means they're BATSHITCOOCOOBANANAS CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY. They would make Lady Gaga blend in with the furniture. The monsters are no better. They've even learned to harness blood magic and such, and can do some simple movement magic and such. Our fears have been reached. They know our secret. The monsters learned magic. What. I would imagine the toplanders would want the srsbzns deposits of magic crystal. THAT'S WHAT I GOT. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. (also choobbread this is really fun 5/5 to thumbs up A+ would buy again) EDIT: Gog damn I write a lot when I have ideas. ALSO EDIT: Hey. Do we have an orient? ALSO ALSO EDIT: Can valcanoland BE the orient?

Hm. You're giving me ideas for one of my plots.
But I don't like the idea of people living there. It's just so far away. But monsters are cool! In fact, that works out pretty well for something else i had in mind.
I'd see vehicles in use at Pelantesque court. They're pretty intense about magic. Maybe just a prototype... hmm, suddenly I'm seeing animated magite walkers moving around volcanoland, which I'm now referring to as the Far Mass until someone has a better name.
And the "Orient" so far is the Isayoshindika Desert as well as the Telaenians. Apparently, Telaenians are both dark skinned and slanty eyed. And the Imikijini with their gunpowder and their herbal cures are pretty much oriental.
PS. I got some possible names for the plant people! Or well their territory. -Aspélèaux (would be referred to as Aspélusians) -Ortigueil (would be referred to as Ortigians, say it with a soft g)
PPS. Looking over Amazon stuff. Here are some random words that people can start jumping off of: -Penthesilea -Antianeirai (I'm kind of feeling Anerai) -Valkyrie -Çatalhöyük
Will think of more words and possible names later.

For the monsters I do have a sort of spider race that I've been toying with fire the fire side. They have several pairs of legs, all of which attach to their "head" and completely encircle it. One group of legs drags the body across the ground while the rest are used to pummel it's prey to death. It's vital organs are all carried and protected within it's abdomen. The abdomen itself is nearly impervious and can protect the organs even when it is pulled through lava/magma. It's legs are not as well built and can be crushed or cut off, though getting anywhere near them is a bad idea.
Currently their primary prey, mostly because there is nothing else there, are the swarms of Golaudrin, both the smaller ones and the massive Tolt.

Ok if no one is objecting: plant place is the Ortigueile Peninsula, country is Ortigue, and peoples are Ortegians.
Western isalnds are Anerai, Kyria, and Antine. Peple are the Anerae and the trade island is Antine.
Someone needs to challenge me on these names so that try don't sound like juvenile-fantasy 101

One thing that must be remembered, Choobs, is that we're creating the setting for people to RP within. Memorable names are an incredibly important aspect, and making them easily typable is also quite the perk.
Setting versamilitude IS important, but making each major name distinct is the first priority a setting designer should concern themselves with when making something for public interaction.
I forget which one it was, but one of the Darths and Droids (Or was it DM of the Rings?) mentioned how one could very easily run a D&D campaign where all of the proper nouns were cribbed from real life. Sure, it might break the mood when the evil wizard Regis kidnaps Princess Paris to his evil kingdom of Detroit, but the players will remember every freakin' name.

Adding on to what lee said.
The jiggeldarns are cool and name-remembering, as well as that other thing with symbols, but those are difficult to type. And remember.
I'd suggest maybe changing the "Non-shield version" to the "official version".

Alternately, Choobs, just tell us what Alt-Whatever we need to hit for the odd characters used in various names, and then being unable to jgélðhrn would be the sign of a noob.

Well when I say "juvenile fantasy 101" I mean that they 1) sound really silly and 2) are so full of y's, z's, x's, and apostropes that it looks more like a face smashed a keyboard. I actually do base these names on real words and stuff so that they're pronounceable with a particular feel, and I think pronuncibility is thefirst step to memorability.
Yegeldern aside, I guess. Or heldyn. Non-shield name is actually the official word since there are more normal people than shields. But anyway, alt codes for those are 0240 and 0233. Careful, alt 4 is also the back hotkey in a bunch of browsers

As an addendum to the super-defensive post above: that challenge for anyone to yell at me for stupid naming also extends to "Ok, I can't tell the difference between such and such." Which is a great point that I totally did not address with anything and used the wiki as a crutch.
I am going to list the names that have been comed up with for places, and if anything sounds like something else, tell me.
The Aequians Mt Alasijia / Sky's Reach Asalim Peak / Sky's Watch Alurile Anerai (hey look, this totally needs a different name, gg choobs on being dumb) Dark Fringe Eliralu Endless Far Mass Free Territories Isayoshindika Paldeta Ortigue Ovora Reaching Isles Tal-Hydor Viggrid

I actually do base these names on real words and stuff so that they're pronounceable with a particular feel, and I think pronuncibility is thefirst step to memorability. I have to say, I'm probably the opposite of this. The names I create aren't based on real things (though they often do remind me of real things). The point of creating a whole new world, to me, is to make it so that it's not based on this one.

Well here's the thing: you base a name off a certain word in a certain language, and all the connotations of that language spring up in the reader's mind, whether they want it to or not, and whether you intended to or not. It's pretty much the easiest shortcut to getting a certain feeling.
Also, like I said, basing something off a word that the human mouth has spoken at one point in history makes it a much more believable word.
But yeah, I can agree that making a new world is all about not recreating Earth. But I've roll with the semi-hard sci fi crowd, and that means I end up wanting everything to be explainable and believable and based on something in the setting's past or whatever.
Anyway, still no complaints/suggestions about names?

The names I create aren't based on real things (though they often do remind me of real things). A better one to work with would have been the "Necronian" thing. Think about it, it's somewhat of a focus of mine. I have a banner for it, my location is listed as "Necronia", and it does have a meaning. It's a lot better than one word that you are utterly focused on, and it's at least not so predictable.

Oh, hey, I guess I better make this abundantly clear because it was not: I am being a moderator right now because I am selfish and this is my topic which until now has been moving absolutely fabulously for 10 pages and if it continues to degenerate into retarded shenanigans then I will be rather cross.
The last person that made me cross was Alex and i deleted a bunch of his topics and banned him for 7,000 days because my finger slipped when I tried to type 7.
Interpret that as you will.
