<I trust that you two can take care of yourselves, no?> Sly was preoccupied with running several other rooms at once, only turning one eye towards his neighbors.
<If you look closely at the floor to my left, there's a trap door. Follow it, and you'll get to the area approved for your fight.> Sly gave a slight nod.
<Good luck to both of you.>
Rie phased through the floor without bothering even to look down, leaving Eragon to swing open the heavy metal flap on his own. Going down, there was a ladder. It seemed to be almost fifty feet to the base, and then opened into a much wider, albeit cluttered room.
Steel struts and gigantic scraps of metal were piled about, some piling atop eachother to form mounds the size of houses. At some points, there were deep pits, holes in the typical metal of the floor that cut into the bedrock beneath the lab. The room was dim, the only light from a few incandescent bulbs in the ceiling far above.
A setting of wrecks and derelects, and now their battlefield... OOC: One week limit between posts, remember. Begin!

Eragon landed behind Rie with a dull thump, and the quick rise of dust to mark his position. The area was dark, but he could see, and he knew Rie was already keeping track of him. This fight would be somewhat personal to her, no doubt, with him having taken over Enders room.
Eragon pulled out his bootknife, not really bothering to speak. He didn't know much about Rie's abilities, but he had no doubt he'd be at a disadvantage while his knife was unpowered. Still, his immortality would easily be an asset.
He flourished his knife professionally, and darted forwards at an extreme speed. The round it out, he struck with extreme strength when he closed in, sinking a crater into one of the derilects. It was easy to tell he was a powerful, but all around balanced fighter, with good strength, speed, and flexability.
He'd be a bit hard to get around, even with was amounted to a normal knife in his hand.

OOC: I thought I made it clear that no one was getting into Ender's room. =/ I have at least 2 lengthy posts detailing how the room was left untouched after his death and a smattering of OOCs directly stating that Rie wouldn't let anyone use the room. The guest house, whatever, but the bedroom is off limits.
BIC: Rie turned around. Her eyes took in what little light there was, enhancing it and making the incandescent bulbs seem as bright as suns. Eragon stood there. Suddenly, he darted to the side, smashing one of the wrecks. Rie wasn't particularly impressed. She simply took off her cloak, revealing her black tank top and loose fitting fatigue pants, as well as the assortment of belts and straps holding her weapons to her body.
This guy was a physical fighter. Rie had the advantage in defense, as usual. Whether or not she could get enough of an offensive to take him down was the question.
Stare downs were useless. As soon as Rie had her cloak off, she ran towards the nearest pile of junk and dove into it, phasing through all the rusted metal. Inside, she pulled her gun from her back, turned off the safety, then peaked enough of her body out of the pile to aim her gun. The visible part of herself phased back into the physical plane, and as that happened, she pulled the trigger of her rifle, releasing a spray of bullets at Eragon.

OOC: The motion was meant to be a direct charge on Rie dammit.
BIC: Eragon darted though the wreckage, bullets ricocheting around him. One of them hit him in the thigh. Eragon grunted, but otherwise showed no sign that he'd been injured.
With a swift afterimage, he darted around and appeared right in front of her wreck.
"Haaaa!" He howled, plunging his fist into her cover. He ripped a hole in the ship through sheer, brutish strength, and darted inside. Attacking her with his knife, and the occasional piece of wreckage, he tried to lock her up so she couldn't use her gun.

OOC: Why would you dent a piece of scrap if you were aiming for Rie? That is just confusing.
BIC: As the hull of the ship was torn through, Rie instinctively phased out of the physical plane, her entire body turning translucent as she did so. She stepped backwards, trying to keep distance, letting the pieces of wreckage fly harmlessly through her. The knife, she was more wary of. Since this guy was no ordinary human, and since he carried his own knife, Rie did not want to chance that it had some kind of enchantment on it. Every thrust and slash she carefully sidestepped and dodged.
Enough dodging. Rie dropped through the floor. A few inches from Eragon's feet, Rie's face phased through the floor, and as soon as she got her bearings, she pulled it back under. A moment later, an arm bearing a knife came out, attempting to slash the opponent's Achilles heels.

OOC: The first attack Eragon made was meant to be aimed at Rie's head. I just assumed she'd dodge.
Eragon hissed sharply as the knife passed through his heel, and stomped down on it with her other foot before she had a chance to pull it back under the floor. The wound in his heel quickly closed up, and he shifted his weight on the floor.
He stomped sharply, caving it in, scrap metal flying everywhere. He darted for her, grabbing a metal pipe, he swung around in a sharp arc, taking a quick cross at her face. He twisted through his swing, planted his boots on the roof, and pushed off.
Lining up both feet with her head, Eragon smashed into the ground with a impact that resounded through the scrap metal like a bell. A dull ringing filled the hollow, as Eragon stabbed straight down at Rie.

There was a loud crunch as Rie's hand broke from the impact. The girl winced but didn't bother to scream as she instinctively became fully ethereal. Metal and boots began slamming on the surface above her, and moments later, a metal shaft went straight through her body.
Rie simply moved away, still underground. The girl held her bleeding and broken hand close to herself as she silently floated below the surface of the earth, her nearly transparent face occasionally peaking up through the ground to look for a place to come up. Several minutes elapsed of utter silence before she came up behind a heap of scrap several hundred meters away from the original fighting zone.
She quickly and quietly ascended to the top to take note of the situation, ready to fall back down to make a quick escape. Eragon was in the distance, still, so she took her rifle from her back and took aim. She switched the firing mode to single shot while moving her scope's crosshairs over her enemy's knife hand. Rie squeezed the trigger.

Eragon's hand twitched as a bullet caught him in the wrist, but he didn't let go of his knife. He twisted, following the direction of the bullet, and saw Rie several hundred meters away. Quite a sprint, the girl could move fast.
Eragon kicked up a long piece of steel, and grabbed it just behind the middle. He wound up, took two quick steps, and sent it catapulting towards Rie at breakneck speeds.
Eragon follow it, at an angle, speeding towards Rie's most likely dodge angle, but staying behind and under cover in the scrap, so she couldn't guess his next move. He hoped she was to focused on the projectile to even be able to focus on his movements.

Still no tangible reaction. She would need to continue biding her time, testing his weaknesses. Of course, the pain in her hand would be a distraction the entire time, but she'd felt worse. At least her ribs were still in order. It would be terrible to have pained breathing.
Suddenly a metal shaft came hurtling through the air. Rie became ethereal once more, falling through the mound of wreckage she was on in the process. She saw her opponent move before she went for cover, so she knew to stay hidden. Again the girl fell through the floor and moved through the rock underneath, quickly getting to another pile of wreckage elsewhere.
Rie didn't know exactly where Eragon was, but she was sure he didn't know where she was, either. She ascended to the top of the pile, peaking her translucent head out to see if she could gather some information.

Eragon peaked around a piece of scrap, scouting out Nat's prior position. She wasn't there, and he should have known it. Her ability granted her a great range of mobility. He caught himself wishing that he could fly.
He moved away from his position, staying low and sticking to the shadows. He had to figure a way to catch her in the open, and unaware. Not the most honorable thing in the world, especially against a woman, but it seemed to be the only way around her ability.
After some careful consideration, he picked up a long length of cable, and wrapped it around his chest.
He started moving at speed, throwing pieces of long scrap everywhere, creating craters and spearing the surroundings, running in a great circle and making sure that few, if any, area's were left un-demolished.
If he was lucky he'd catch a glimpse of her though low density exploding wreckage, and then go from there.

Rie picked up the sound of a large metal object hitting the ground almost instantly. She turned towards the source, seeing a great puff of dust and smoke, hearing more of the same destruction. The cause of this disturbance was obvious: her opponent. The girl watched her opponent weave around everything, trying to clear a path. The cable was there presumably to scrape things away. Clever. But not really.
Rie transformed into a pure white fly, also becoming ethereal in the process, for the sole purpose of being hard to see. She buzzed as fast as she could towards the loud noises and bright flashes of light that her limited senses could pick up. As soon as she was close enough, she phased into the ground and turned back into her human self.
Hopefully she would have the element of surprise here. She burst out of the ground near the end of Eragon's cable, knife in hand. In one swipe, she cut the cable from the piece of derelict it was attached to, then transformed into a white-colored golden eagle. Gracefully, the shapeshifter caught the cable in her talons, and with her combined upward momentum and several flaps of her wings, she was high in the air, making a bee-line for the nearest light.
Once she was within a meterof the ceiling, she transformed back into a human, still rising due to inertia. The set of transformations had realigned her dislocated fingers somewhat, which were thankfully not fractured due to the carbon and metal grafted into them. With her now completely functional hand, she took out a knife and stabbed it through the cable and the nearby light. Glass shattered as the bulb broke, and Rie could feel the tingle of electricity running through the knife and into the cable, and hopefully into her opponent.

Just as Eragon felt a slight jolt of electricity in his hands, he pulled the cable taught. It didn't have the desired effect at all, but instead collect a massive ball of scrap and jammed it against the ceiling. He could only presume that Nat had relocated the end of his cable, and only hope that she was still there when he pulled it tight.
He let go of the cable, wiping the dust off his hands. The length of the cable, and the resistance of the iron, coupled with the low electrical charge, ended with him getting nothing more than a joke shop shock. He'd had a lot worse.
He ducked into some more ruins, and stumbled upon something most interesting.
"Well, hello there. You seem to have been misfiled." Eragon said, looking at a sphere of liquid metal, floating nonchalantly in the air. Eragon took the tip of his knife, and touched the metal lightly. It quickly flowed into and around the blade, creating a wet metallic shortblade.
"Hmmmmm," Eragon said, feeling it out. He touched the end of the blade, and then to another. A loose metallic string, hard to see but humming with energy, sprung up between the two points.
Eragon grinned, "Oh the things to be found in a mad scientists lab." He chuckled.
Eragon darted through the ruins at high speeds, setting up everything from simple snare traps, to complex Indiana Jones style monstrosities. Still, they were little more than distractions. He really had to find a way around her phasing ability.

Rie hadn't tried holding onto her knife; she knew her weight would just pull it out again. As soon as she had stabbed, she let go and reached up with her free arm, stretching it a few feet so she could phase a hand through the ceiling and hold on from there. Despite all this effort, the knife and attached cable, jolted sharply out of the socket and towards the ground. Her opponent must have pulled on it. Rie muttered an expletive as she mentally crossed electricity off her list of things to incapacitate an immortal with.
The girl squinted at the ground, tracing the cable down even as it fell, trying to find her opponent again. Even with her enhanced eyesight, her opponent was just a speck. She watched the speck run into what appeared to be a nearby set of ruins. Strange. She didn't notice those ruins before. Somewhat odd that they would appear in a junkyard.
Rie phased her arm out of the ceiling and so began to fall back. She spread her arms and legs out, trying to keep the fall as controlled as possible. As she fell faster and faster, Rie felt the wind blowing past her exposed arms and through her short hair. She could hear her pants rustling, though they were quiet relative to the rushing sound in her ears.
At about ten meters from the ground, Rie turned into a fly. She naturally slowed down to the insect's terminal velocity before turning back into a human and landing with a hand to the ground to balance herself. The entrance to the ruins wasn't terribly imposing in front of her, though the girl was still wary of entering. Her opponent had plenty of time to set something up.
She wasn't stupid. Her opponent, on the other hand, had trapped himself in a place with only one exit, presumably. Casually, she took a grenade from her belt, pulled the pin, and threw it as far into the entrance as she could.

OOC: Ruins of a ship, not the ancient type.
BIC: Eragon turned back swiftly when he heard the explosion, and ducked as shrapnel whizzed over his head. He grinned maliciously, and strummed one of the chords he was weaving with his short sword.
A swift humming ran through the string, and a few seconds later, Rie could heal a faint hum coming from around her feat. A circle of wire snapped into nothing around her ankles, the aim being to sever her feet.
Eragon pulled another two chords, causing two pieces of wreckage to dark together and destroy the ruins he'd found his new toy in. It didn't matter, she'd probably phased out by now.
He carefully weighed his options, and set once again, to creating another trap.

OOC: Is that stuff magical or technologic in nature?

Post by hermes on Sept 28, 2009 21:14:11 GMT -5
BIC: Eragon's weapon will only interact with magical stuffs, so magical. And before you go off on another tangent, I do know that Sly's lab has magical stuffs in it, usually locked behind all matter of technologies serving his severe paranoia in reguards to the stuff. However, he is not proof of error, thus his misfile serves as my plot device.
Also this is gonna go on for friggin ever, she can phase and Eragon is a friggin immortal. THE BEST MATCHING THIS IS NOT. Lmao.
Another question, why am I getting picked on? Both my characters in here, who both happen to be highly regenerative, and up paired against two characters, who both freaking PHASE.

OOC: Why are you getting picked on?
1. The character in here is immortal. Rie can phase, but she has distinct weaknesses against anything magical and against anything in close range. Also, most importantly, her powers are triggered consciously. You'll notice that the one surprise attack actually connected. In fact, she's about to lose a leg, but I've gotta finish this studio assignment before I do a legit post.
2. You entered two characters into the same tournament. What happens if you get matched up with yourself?
3. You found something that completely turns the tide of battle in the middle of a tournament fight. In a normal topic, sure. But this is a tournament. A competition with rules. You don't start making things up in the middle. Like in a martial arts tournament; you don't grab a knife in the middle of a match. You only use what you bring in. This one is my biggest annoyance. I considered "finding" a robot that Sly made after analyzing full-power Ender, and then just using that to end the match.

A: Being sarcastic.
B: I'm online all the time, you know it. You're online all the time, I can friggin see you. There's no reason to bring up issues like that actually on the exodus besides actively causing drama.
C: She wouldn't have 'lost a leg' had I not bitched just now, that statement is merely an attempt to paint yourself in a more lawful light.
D: This fight is not going to go anywhere anytime soon. Neither character has an advantage. In fact, yours has more of an advantage than mine. Eragon may be immortal, but he actually gets tired. Rie can phase as much as she wants. x.x
E: Muwahahahahahahahahahahaha! Eragon is calling it quits in two posts, he don't have the personality type needed to continue forcing fights that have no progression.

As soon as Rie heard a hum, she phased out of the physical plane. She looked down as well, just in time to see a nearly invisible wire cut into her boot. Soon after she felt searing pain in her ankle as the magical energies tore through her skin and muscle, only stopping once it had encircled the bone.
Rie cursed loudly before transforming into a fly. As her leg shrunk, the wire slipped loose and closed in on itself. Rie stopped the morph halfway and changed into a cheetah. Her leg did not retain the wound, but she knew if she transformed back to her human form, it would come back. She snarled, pacing, watching for Eragon, before taking refuge in a nearby pile of junk.
